Until the rest of the world comes on board, there really isnt much else we can do cause it will weaken us against the countries who dont. That is one thing that cant happen if the end of the world is nigh, unfortunately.

Mother nature/the weather does not pick its targets. So britain could be zero carbon, but it would be pointless and would not protect us from flooding if no other nations did the same.
