At least they respected your privacy (if not dignity and respect, granted, and I’m sorry you had to go through all that). In the example I was talking, the person wasn’t seen as inherently deserving of any of that (privacy no-less) until they got a bit better and was finally regarded as a human being worthy of respect. You get people who roll in and take advantage of the fact that they’re privy to confidential information about people and then gossip it to everyone with ears, obvious worst offenders included. That happens to a lot of people out there. I’m not going to bother cussing out individual people (not even your supervisor) but sometimes stuff like this needs to go through to HR the day it happens and people sacked. The longer it’s left the longer it becomes hard to prove (especially if a turnover happens).

Unfortunately people protect each other at the top...I went through an independant company for Bullying in the work place which forced the CEO to set up procedures...I had witnesses..in a court she wouldnt have had a leg to stand on but when she's friends with the CEO the manipulation of the truth was sickening. This happens in workplaces everywhere and its soul destroying.

Soul-destroying and sickening.
