Tbh I actually agree with Zelah that if you are religious then you can't really dismiss it as insanity unless you think your whole religion is insane
St Paul literally became a Christian because he saw a vision of Jesus. Lots of Jesus's miracles involved casting demons out of people. Just as two examples
