Black humour is a way of dealing with things people dont want to deal directly with. A coping mechanism. Saves the person getting depressed over shocking things, also prevents more serious mental problems.

Of course, I'm not denying it. There is no denying that this is a vile, repulsive, twisted thing to do, of course not. But the jokes that have been made about it are funny. Not the incident, the jokes. There is nothing funny about a young child effectively being tortured, but the comments that have been made are. And the reason why most people find 'dark' jokes funny is because of the shock factor. It's not the incident I'm laughing at, it's just how vulgar and nasty the joke is that's funny.

Oh yeah, I know. I can think of a load of bad things that have happened that have induced a frenzy of sick sick jokes.. You have to klaugh though, or you would actually cry..

SOme things ARE too much though. Most involving kids. I nearly flipped when a colleague made a joke about the Dunblane shootings, Baby P.. I can't even think about let alone laugh at a joke etc etc

However, I know that everbody can laugh at different things.. but for me, some things are taken too far.

You are always trying to squirm out of stuff,by passing the 'joke'off as "I laugh at the incident, not at what happened" what a load of bollocks, something is either funny or it isn't ,So tell us all what was it exactly about THE INCIDENT that was funny?and yes i guess torture would make YOU laugh.

Sorry, was getting you mixed up with Karezza, I do apologise. And I think I've got a pretty good grasp on morality, I'm just not serious all the time with every issue, you need a bit of light relief in some cases (where appropriate). This is a sick thing to do but theres a slight funny side to it- just as there was a kind of funny side to the woman on todays This Morning who has spasmed into the shape of a flamingo

Why do some people think it's cool and big to joke about this particular incident? The pictures clearly show a little lad who is terrified and bewildered with no-one to turn to, and now I'm being lectured by immature, pathetic little jerks about how I don't GET the humour in the situation? You know what, I'm bloody glad I don't - It's that sort of attitude that desensitises people to the reality and horror of such incidents. No wonder this bloody country is going down the pan.

I agree,I like a laugh aswell as the next person, but really, how can anyone laugh at a kids distress like that?We were pretty lucky with James I only ever heard one joke about him,I think most sane people know that some lines are not to be crossed,i cannot believe a comedian would make jokes about Baby Peter!!! as someone said on here,I am shocked,No wonder kids are like they are today,I have seen some attrocious parenting, some of them are almost ferrel!

Apology accepted,I was wondering what I had supposed to have done,I can see the funny side of the THIS MORNING item as she was an adult and knew she was being filmed and was willing to explain her illness, this little lad however didn't have a choice, that's the difference for me.

What's the point? You'll just take the moral high ground anyway, regardless of whether you found them funny or not. You like to play devil's advocate.

To be honest it's comments like this that are nastier than 'sick' jokes themselves. People should be tortured or enjoy torturing people for having a different sense of humour? You are really, really clueless. It's outstanding.

Along with every comment from angus58,this is also a to the point and very strong comment too kazanne from you.
I personally have no symapthy at all or see anything remotely humerous in inflicting suffering of any kind on a child.
It is clear and simple assault, because the child cannot yet understand what fun and hurt may be, and its abuse too.
It os from incidents like this that in the end if unchecked, far more serious things can happen, and they do despite all the reports of child protection and making sure bad things don't happen to children.

Okay then, but I know what's coming. Here's a few [recent ones and old]:

I personally have no symapthy at all or see anything remotely humerous in inflicting suffering of any kind on a child.
It is clear and simple assault, because the child cannot yet understand what fun and hurt may be, and its abuse too.
It os from incidents like this that in the end if unchecked, far more serious things can happen, and they do despite all the reports of child protection and making sure bad things don't happen to children.
I cannot believe people try to vindicate themselves finding this funny by saying "It's the jokes about it that are funny" so what are these jokes?they must be about the boy,so isn't that the same as laughing at what happened,I wonder sometimes what some of these people are on!!! If someone is an adult and a willing participant then yes laugh and joke all you like,But kids.NO.and hello Joey, nice to see you posting again.
