They're just supposed to be there to enjoy the experience. This must be the only game where it's a sin to actually try to play the game. The best way to play is to do so subtly.

But, on a high note, if the UK public doesn't like people who are playing the game, then Michael is your winner. I don't think he cares at all if he wins and is content to let whatever is going to happen happen.
Big Brother UK has never really been about competition. Ever.
When it started here it was ground-breaking reality TV.

A housemate who was plotting to influence nominations in the first series was thrown out, and was actually hated for his game plan.

Britain doesn't like a game-player in Big Brother. Its not that type of show here.

I am British, and I like the game playing as long as it doesn't venture into over the top nastiness with and towards others. I liked Nick and he shouldn't have been chucked out of BB1, he wasn't evil, just a pretty good gameplayer up to that point, but on the other hand he got exposure out of it all and he seems to have done well since the show, and it brought the show the attention it needed, so it all worked out well in the end.

I don't think it has anything to do with Brits or other cultures, races et el; as to how we view certain housemates and aspects of a show, it has to do with our indivdual tastes in my opinion.

Just for the record, too, the Americans in this series are my favourite HM's and have made the show, this season.
