Yeah, maybe if the word "debates" was taken out discussions would start off less fraught?

Maybe "Serious News" or "News Chat" or "Good Morning TiBB with Dezzy and Rob".

I just don't understand how passionate people get about it, like as if posting an opinion on a BB forum that about 20 people will see is so meaningful

I have SUCH a good idea right

If you start an argument or whatever or go off topic then u should be banned from that subforum for abit lol instead of just getting an infraction etc x

political discussions tend to get heated, see tv or parliament
like it or not, people need to have somewhere to discuss such topics
especially now when we all can live in a bubble and surround ourselves only with people we agree with
it's uncomfortable but it's good to be exposed to opposing views and practice debating such views effectively, it forces us to back up views with evidence

I think it's fine. I go on it now and then and don't recall ever arguing, I think even if someone is passionate we should be able to keep it civil?

...I think ‘the heat’ can be taken by all who tend to post there, Twosugars..the heat of debates and topics that is...but it’s more getting to that ‘heat’ and finding it and keeping it on track as it’s were...with so much personal stuff which (...from threads I’ve seen recently..)...seems to ‘carry’ from thread to thread to thread and topic to topic etc...the ‘heat’ is lovely but the heat gets distracted from so much, is the thing...
