actually according to the online dictionary Either can be pronounced eeether way but the one they chose to name first and have in the sound thingy was the e sound
Ei can also be pronounced like an A as in Eight https://www.thefreedictionary.com/either

Thank you MTVN... Maybe what I should have said is that I'm taking that piece of information from the German pronunciation of words. I have a German maiden name that was often mispronounced and also I speak German. Anyhoo, I've used that example in the pronunciation of English words and it hasn't let me down yet.
