Haha he still calls him that too. Maybe he'd have made a comeback if he'd not been in trouble drinking :/

Aye, I like the character, but Bruce Jones turned into a right knob

That said, Steve Huison (Eddie Windass) is a good replacement, and Steve is a brilliant guy (he regulary talks with fans on Twitter and let us vote for wether or not Eddie should have a ponytail last night xD)

Is Twitter easy to use? I've always said I'll never use it but I keep wondering wether to give it a go. I think it'd go too fast for me :joker:

Scarlett.

It's quite easy to use, I only had 141 followers (I do a Corrie news thing lol) it's pretty cool, and theres some great behind the scenes people on there (the make up girls always chat with Corrie fans)

Wow thats a biggish story. My Dad had that and it's scary stuff. I wonder if they'll show it

I'm not sure, the whole epylepsy could be tabloid guesswork (like when they said Gary would be a bomb disposal expert because of the paintbrush comment)

Mmmm yes, possibly. I just can't see them showing a fit. They are so distressing and upsetting

Scarlett.
04-10-2010, 12:52 AM
I think it will happen off screen, and they will trick the audience into thinking David did it by accident and he's fibbing about the fit, then they will reveal it

Kerry
04-10-2010, 12:55 AM
I can't stand David but he'd never go for Graham. Not now anyway. They'd made up and he's his best mate in the world

I remember a while back, Jack was sat on his own in the Rovers and I think it was Vera's birthday. The rest of the street carried on as normal, then Betty came over to Jack gave a drink and kissed him on the top of his head.

Nothing more was said, but the scene really touched me.

ROVER’S cook Betty Williams goes hot pot crazy when her secret recipe is stolen.

Former colleague Ciaran McCarthy (Keith Duffy, 35) swipes it and starts serving it up at Nick Tilsley’s rival boozer The Joinery.

Furious Betty (Betty Driver, 90) tells Rovers landlady Liz McDonald (Bev Callard, 53): “I’ll kill that Ciaran. I don’t care if they send me to prison for the rest of my natural life. I’ll string him up.”

Lots of exclusive pictures of the 50th anniversary tram crash in today's newspapers.

As the tram careers off the viaduct, The Corner Shop and The Kabin are reduced to rubble and up to a dozen cast members lose their lives. New bar The Joiners is destroyed too. The tram crash - which airs in December - is believed to be the most expensive in TV history, costing a cool £1 million.

According to The Daily Mail, producer Phil Collinson had to go cap in hand to ITV bigwigs to ask for more money. "We've had a significant amount of extra money from ITV for this stunt. It's the most money we've ever spent in the show's history; it's going to be a spectacular set of episodes."

He said that the stunt would dwarf the June explosion at the Underworld knicker factory. Special effects experts from production company The Mill - who worked on Gladiator and Doctor Who - were brought in by Collinson to ensure the crash was as sensational as possible.

The production team have also worked closely with Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE), which runs Metrolink trams in Manchester.

For the week...

CORRIE fans are going to be in absolute floods of tears on Monday night.

If Vera Duckworth’s death in 2008 was emotional, then we’ll all be wrecks at the poignant scenes surrounding the death of her husband Jack.

Suffering from cancer, he passes away quietly in his sleep on his 64th birthday, sitting in the same armchair that Vera died in and clutching her photograph.

It happens after he enjoys the surprise birthday party that Tyrone and Molly have arranged for him in the Rovers. He holds court, reminiscing about his three decades on the street and making a speech over his cake.

Molly is taken aback when Jack reveals that he knows about her affair with Kevin and that Tyrone is not baby Jack’s father. But he decides to take the secret to his grave rather than upset everyone.

Tyrone is still heartbroken, though, when he gets home to discover the body of the man who he considers a father figure.

Make sure you tune in on Wednesday to the excellent documentary Farewell Jack, paying tribute to Bill Tarmey’s 31 years on the soap.

Nick is impressed as Leanne works flat out to ensure the opening night of their bar goes ahead, and when he hears that she’s going to miss her wedding dress fitting, he insists he’ll drive her there.

But seeing his ex-wife in a long white dress stirs up old emotions, and by the end of the week the pair are locking lips again, after the high of the successful opening night party.

Meanwhile Leanne’s fiancé Peter is spending more time with Carla, trying to encourage her to stay on the wagon, especially after she’s arrested for drink driving. But when she drunkenly makes a pass at him, he gently pushes her away. If only he knew what Leanne was doing....which Rosie does, after walking in on them in a clinch. Something tells me she’s going to use this knowledge to her own advantage.

John is tormented by silent calls at work, but by the end of the week he discovers who his stalker is.

Sophie and Sian are in a dilemma when the pastor tells them homosexuality is a sin, but they are surprised by the reaction they get from Emily.

I think they wanted him to die separately because he's been in it so long, that he deserved his own send off, rather than it being him and a bunch of others who would have taken away from him dying.

I don't mean killed by the tram, I too agree that'd be a bad exit for him. But I mean him still being there to witness the crash and the 50th Birthday of the street? Surely as an actor and as a character that's not something you'd want to miss out on, especially after being there for so long? They could've postponed the death until a few days/weeks after the crash.

I wasn't sure whether he died/just left tonight anyway, I just heard it was his 'final scenes' so tuned in.

Bill Tarmey's final episode as Coronation Street's Jack Duckworth has been praised by critics and viewers alike.

Earlier tonight, the long-standing character died of a heart attack in the chair that his wife Vera passed away in nearly three years earlier.

The poignant episode included a guest appearance by Tarmey's former co-star Liz Dawn, who played Vera's ghost in an emotional final scene which saw the pair dance to 'Wind Beneath My Wings'.

Having seemingly joined Vera in heaven, Jack's foster son Tyrone (Alan Halsall) discovered Jack, becoming tearful before saying, 'Bye Dad'.

The Guardian's Mark Lawson described the scene as achieving "a depth unmatched in other drama", praising the show's writers for the "injection" of "magical realism".

DS forum members also paid tribute to Jack, as Cinnte commented: "That ending could not have been done any better. The camera angle focusing out onto the street was an excellent touch.

"Tyrone's reaction was excellent and the importance of Jack to Tyrone was outlined brilliantly. I definitely shed a few tears."

Meanwhile, LemonadeMan said: "You know what I loved and hated the most? You see characters like Jack and Vera reunited in death and all that history.

"All that pathos, all those little character moments come back, then you realise that's it, a link to the show's history is gone."

This is great to see

I thought it was nice and fitting that they were finally getting on and not arguing in their final scene, almost like a happily ever after type thing

As far as the episode goes, I think it was done well but spoilt a bit that it didn't happen right at the end. I think when the camera went up through the house and down the street with the music in the background they should have ended it there and had the credits going over it. it was a bit of an anti climax when it just cut to regular scenes afterwards

I don't care about the silly old bag, or bloody Colin Fishwick, the sooner this storyline is over the better...

I'm on the like side of it xD I love the colourful character it brings in (like John's old teacher friend a few weeks ago)

The John thing is bugging me really. It's lie after impossible lie. Is Fizz TOTALLY dumb or what?

Yes, she is incredibly thick...

The whole drawn out storyline is just so silly it bores me. I couldn't care less about John either to be honest & I know he kills Charlotte & hides her body amongst the tram crash debris but

See, it's just getting sillier by the second to me. I know soaps are incredibly far fetched but really.....

lol that's what I like about the story, it doesn't take itself seriously - It was worse when it did (pre-Colin's death)

It's so far fetched though. I might aswell walk onto the street and out John myself and no one would appear to notice :joker:

I don't think it's meant to be intentionally 'hilarious' though, that is kind of the point...

I don't think hiding someones body beneath the floor of a factory is 'hilarious' no... I honestly don't think it is meant to be slapstick, but it appears amusing because the whole storyline is so farcical...

The story has become a parody of itself and the producers know it

Would you rather it be what it was like before Phil Collinson came along?
