Surely Verma will play above gallas if he performs being like 8 years younger.. Not sure, would rather Gallas than Hangeland though.

Next year Hangeland would be good for us, but this year I'm liking Gallas.

Im hot and cold with gallas

AND ****ing hell why has fabregas been fouled badly like 6 time???

good proffisonal performance at celtic park tonight. Thought we did enough to score a goal and got two. So it was a fair result in the end. Lucky in terms of play or not.

Great to be at it but you hardly dominated the first half - they were all over you. Chelsea looked very, very impressive.

They had 5 good mins at the end of the first half, and that's only because WE were leading 1-0. If they dominated, they'd have lead.

Niall was lovely, very tall though. I look very munchkin-esque on the picture.

Van der Vaart to leave Spanish shores
442 Staff - Today, 00:19

Van Vaart1

Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has confirmed that he will be leaving Spain this summer, adding that he is extremely disappointed to have been left out of new coach Manuel Pellegrini's plans for the new season.

The Dutch international has made 32 league appearances - netting five times - since joining the Madridistas last summer.

However, following the expensive acquisitions of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso, Real are open to offers for Dutch quintet Van der Vaart, Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Roysten Drenthe and Ruud van Nistelrooy, while Klaas-Jan Huntleaar has already departed for AC Milan.

The 26-year-old - who has been capped 69 times by his country - has been linked with moves to a host of European clubs, including Hamburg, Ajax, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal.

And he has since confirmed that he will be departing for pastures new during the close-season, and that he will not be joining another Spanish side.

"The night that head coach Pellegrini told me that I was no longer needed was a dreadful evening. I never expected that and I was really disappointed," he said in Sportweek.

"Joining Real in the summer of 2008 was like a dream come true for me. I wouldn't have want to miss it, even though things never got going as I expected. I'm not a quitter, but my situation at the club leaves me no other choice but to move on.

"I'm not too happy with the way Madrid is treating me, but that's football. A player doesn't exactly have a choice when a club decides that you're surplus to requirements. Ending up at the club of your choice pretty much is a luxury.

"I don't want to join a club that snaps me up just because I'm a cheap transfer target. I want to be important again at my new club.

"Joining another club in Spain isn't an option for me. Every club is a step back when you've played for Real Madrid. Even teams such as Valencia and Barcelona. I want to enjoy playing football again and I want to do so outside Spain."

James Collins has turned down a move to Stoke City, according to reports.

The 25-year-old centre half held talks with the Potters after the Hammers accepted a bid - worth around £5million with clauses - for the Welsh international yesterday. However a number of sources are reporting this morning that negotiations have broken down after Collins failed to agree personal terms.

Newport-born Collins was signed for £1million by Alan Pardew in July 2005 as the Hammers prepared for their first season back in the Premiership. Having impressed during his first two seasons he signed an extended contract in 2007 tieing him to West Ham until summer 2011.

Despite playing a major role in United's 'Great Escape' at the end of the 2006/07 season the popular Collins failed to cement a place in the first team - not through poor form, but as a result of a series of both minor and major injuries; the most serious of which occured in January 2008 when cruciate ligament damage resulted in seven months on the sidelines.

West Ham - who have made it clear that for this summer, any transfer funds must be generated by player sales - are understood to have rejected rumours that the proposed purchase of Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh from Bordeaux is dependent on the sale of Collins.

Despite the breakdown in talks, Stoke are understood to remain optimistic of reaching an agreement with Collins ahead of the transfer window deadline.

Hameur Bouazza has joined Turkish club Sivasspor on a permanent deal.

The 24-year old French-born Algerian international signed a four-year deal to join from Fulham reportedly for a fee of £4million.

Bouazza struggled to gain regular first team football at Craven Cottage and had been linked with several clubs during the off season.

Fulham confirmed the move on the club’s official website.

"The club would like to thank Hameur for his services and wish him all the best for the future,” it read.

Taylor signs Bolton extension

Midfielder commits to Trotters until 2012

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed Matt Taylor has signed a contract extension with the club.

Taylor has prolonged his previous terms by a year to ensure he is committed to the Reebok Stadium until the summer of 2012.

The 27-year-old midfielder joined Bolton from Portsmouth in January 2008 and has netted 13 goals since the switch.

Trotters manager Gary Megson told the club's official website: "Matt is a hard working player who always gives his all.

"He scored 10 goals for us last season and is a big influence with his set-pieces and work-rate.

"He had a key role to play last season and will have again this season. He is another member of the squad who leads by example.

"He and his family are settled here and I'm sure he can go from strength to strength at the club."

Taylor follows striker Kevin Davies and defender Gary Cahill in recently signing new contracts with Bolton.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill says reports linking Luke Young with a move to Hull City are news to him.

The former Middlesbrough defender has been linked with a move to Phil Brown's side, although O'Neill questions whether anything will happen.

Young, who did not play in Villa's 2-0 season-opening defeat to Wigan, is currently dealing with the death of his half brother.

Priorities

O'Neill does not believe moving clubs is top of Young's current list of priorities and he has not heard anything from The Tigers anyway.

"It's news to me. Personally, he has a lot of things to consider at this minute," said O'Neill.

"I would have thought a move would be the last thing on his mind."

Fulham tie up Duff deal

Hodgson looking forward to working with winger again

Fulham have completed the signing of Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff for an undisclosed fee from Newcastle United.

Duff had emerged as a target for the Cottagers last week and the club have spent the past few days finalising a reported £4million deal.

The former Chelsea wide man has agreed a three-year contract with Roy Hodgson's side and is looking forward to playing in the Premier League again.

"I am happy that my move to Fulham has been completed and look forward to joining in with the rest of the squad's training programme immediately, in preparation for two important home matches this week," Duff told the club's official website.

"Fulham had a fantastic season last year and I know that having spoken to the manager in recent days that the club's ambitions remain high and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead."

Duff played under Hodgson during his early days at Blackburn Rovers and the Fulham boss is keen to work with the 30-year-old again.

Hodgson said: "I am delighted to add a player of Damien Duff's calibre to our squad, and welcome the further midfield options he provides us with.

"I have known Damien for over a decade since he broke into the first team at Blackburn when I was manager, so I'm fully aware of his qualities and I am looking forward to working with him again."

Skysports.com understands Aston Villa have launched a bid for West Ham defender Matt Upson.

Villa are in the market for defensive reinforcements having lost Martin Laursen and Zat Knight this summer and they are believed to have identified Upson as their top target.

Upson's future has been the subject of constant speculation amid reports he could be sold to ease West Ham's financial concerns.

The 30-year-old admitted last weekend he was unsure of his long-term future at Upton Park as the Hammers look to raise funds for their own signings.

Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in Upson, but it appears Villa have firmed up their interest with a £12million bid for the former Arsenal man.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill is thought to be a long-term admirer of Upson and will be hoping to land the central defender before the transfer window closes.

Bent is great up front on his own, our defence was only weak because we had stand ins, not to mention we were playing the title contenders. The fact we held them 1-0 til half time was good enough for me, but second half we played terrible - Jones wasn't jumping for ANYTHING, he was playing lazy, and Andy Reid coming on? Dear God. Praise the day Richardson and Steed come back properly.

Jones was completely lazy, it was frustrating to watch with Bent, Cattermole and even Henderson running about the whole park like blue-arsed flies, then Jones just stood, didn't get any height and expected the ball to come straight to him. It was frustrating.

Our defence will be strong once everyones back though, I'm sure of it. They were strong last night until morale dropped 2nd half.

Btw, Cana has a broken hand and Cattermole got injured last night - so they may be out a game or two. (Though Cana played all of last night with a broken hand!!).
