Lucy Beale's killer could be Jane after one bookie exposes irregular bets

Could Jane Beale be Lucy's mystery killer?

Betting has been suspended over which Walford resident killed Lucy Beale, following a series of irregular bets.

According to Ladbrokes a female customer in central London placed 25 bets on Jane being revealed as Lucy's killer in early 2015 and in a matter of hours on Wednesday evening Ian's former wife's odds had collapsed into favouritism at 2/1 (from 16/1) before the bookies pulled the plug.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: "We smell a rat and have been forced to suspend betting on the EastEnders whodunit. Our mystery punter's going to have to wait a while to collect her winnings if she's right, but for the time being we're not prepared to take any more bets."

An EastEnders spokesperson told Mirror TV that it is very unlikely that they know who the killer is.

They said: "Even the killer doesn't know yet. There is nothing out there in terms of script or anything."

A source close to the show said: "Much like the reveal of Archie Mitchell's killer in 2010 it is believed that the killer will know just minutes before the live broadcast that they were the person who killed Lucy and left her on the Common."

Actress Lacey Turner was told that she was Archie's killer just 30 minutes before the special episode, broadcast to mark the soap's 25th anniversary.

It has been reported that the BBC One soap’s executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins has just let three writers in on the secret, so they can work on the scripts for February’s live 30th anniversary, in which the killer is unmasked.

haven't they changed the killer though before it was written down? I recon it was her at one point and one of the writers told their partner or someone close to them or something then someone made the bets and that changed the odds? Since that they have been extra cautious!

DC Emma Summerhayes is shocked by new developments in the Lucy Beale murder case on EastEnders next week.

When Emma (Anna Acton) and Max (Jake Wood) arrive home and find Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) has been followed again, a terrified Lauren admits that she is worried it could be Lucy's killer.

A furious Emma then calls her ex-fiancé DS Brant and warns him to stop following Lauren, telling him that frightening Max's daughters won't bring them back together.

Wanting to get to the bottom of who is following Lauren, Max later calls Keeble who insists that the person has been dealt with and won't be bothering Lauren again.

Meanwhile, Emma meets DS Bryant, assuming that he is watching her every move. However, she is shocked when he admits that he is under orders from Keeble to keep a close eye on the Branning family as part of the investigation - something Keeble later confirms.

Viewers know that Max was having a fling with Lucy prior to her death, but what could the police think the Brannings are hiding?

Agree with Stan, I think he's been told he has a certain amount of time left to live. I think Pam's secret is that she may have covered for her son in some sort of criminal investigation, maybe a false alibi?

I think DS Bryant is trying to retrace the footsteps of the night that Lucy was murdered rather than actually stalk Lauren. I think he needs to be discreet about it because Lucy wouldn't have known she was being followed. (I think it'll lead to that, anyway).

EastEnders airs more drama for Shirley Carter next week as she returns to screens with a secret.

Shirley (Linda Henry) is tracked down by her family shortly after the tragic revelation that Stan is suffering from terminal cancer.

Viewers can expect a big clash between Stan (Timothy West) and Aunt Babe (Annette Badland) after she drops the bombshell about his health during Lee's 22nd birthday celebrations at the Queen Vic.

In the heated row that follows, Stan accuses Babe of knowing where Shirley is. When Mick (Danny Dyer) overhears the argument, Babe has to come clean about Shirley's whereabouts by revealing that someone appears to have been staying in the family's old caravan.
When Mick and Dean (Matt Di Angelo) head off to investigate, they soon come face-to-face with Shirley again and assure her that Phil has covered for her with the police over the shooting.

Shirley is stunned as Babe has withheld this crucial piece of information from her, but she still refuses to go home even when she hears that Stan is dying - convinced that her family are better off without her.

However, once her family have left again, it's clear that Shirley hasn't been entirely honest with them as a man emerges from the darkness and embraces her…

The next day, Mick and Dean refuse to give up on Shirley and head back to the caravan park with a surprising plan in mind.

After attaching the locked caravan to the back of Mick's car, the pair drive it back to Albert Square, but they receive the shock of their lives when they open the caravan door.

Fans will have to wait and see what they find, but show bosses are promising that Shirley's secret will cause shockwaves in a must-see week for Carter family drama.
