I like Michael and cannot stand Janine, glad she left even though the exit is temporary but I do like Charlie Brooks and thought she and Steve John Shepherd were brilliant tonight:).

'EastEnders' Kim Fox gets online 'B&B' spinoff

EastEnders bosses have revealed that Kim Fox will star in her own online mini-episodes next month.

Show chiefs have created a bonus spinoff titled The B&B, which will take the style of a reality-documentary focusing on Kim's business.

At least four editions of The B&B will be released exclusively on the official EastEnders website throughout October.

Tameka Empson, who plays the role of Kim, has penned the scripts for the project herself.

The official synopsis for The B&B reads: "A camera crew is given access to all areas of 'Kim's Palace'. The team focus on her adventures (and mishaps) as she strives to raise her small business from the ashes of disaster, catapulting her into the realm of the Alan Sugars and Richard Bransons of this world.

"With Kim at the helm, surely nothing can go wrong. Can it?! Watch this space…"

A release date for the first episode will be announced in due course.

I still like the show, but they need some new storylines. At the moment it's ok, but it doesn't really grab my attention like it used to. :)

The show's been going down the pan since Chrissie left in late 2005 but at least from then until late 2010 there was still loads to watch and enjoy. 2011/2012 has been virtually unwatchable...

EastEnders fans will see Ava Hartman's son Dexter arrive on Albert Square in the New Year.

Ava (Clare Perkins) - the long-lost daughter of show regular Cora Cross - makes her first appearance on screen on November 20, while Dexter will join her in Walford in 2013.

Hot on the heels of his mum, 20-year-old Dexter turns up on the Square in search of some answers and to get to meet the family he never knew he had.

Actor Khali Best has landed the role of Dexter and will be a new regular cast member for the BBC soap.

Best told Digital Spy: "I am delighted to be joining the cast of EastEnders and working with such great actors so early in my career is an amazing opportunity. I am really excited to see what the writers have in store."

EastEnders' executive producer Lorraine Newman added: "Dexter is a force of nature: cheeky, forthright, confident but highly protective of his mum and vice versa. He'll work at the Arches and be a great mate for Jay and Lola. I am sure he'll be hugely popular with the audience."

Dexter Hartman's first scenes will air in January 2013.

Good interview IMO:). She knows what EE is about and I think she can turn the show around.

I like that Lorraine thinks that the show should not revive around one family in particular and that she hates Kat's affair storyline like the majority of viewers, glad Kat will be getting her comeuppance.

Finally Denise and Patrick will get their own storyline and I also like that she wants to inject more lighter moments in the show:).

'EastEnders': Shivani Ghai joins cast as Masood family friend

Shivani Ghai has joined the cast of EastEnders.

The English-Indian Bride and Prejudice actress will play the role of Ayesha Rana, a Muslim girl who has moved to Walford for her arranged marriage.

Ayesha will reportedly move in with her family friend Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia) in order to prepare for the wedding.

However, Ayesha's arrival in December will be a shock to the system, as she is used to grander surroundings. She is described as a "naïve introvert" who is looking to fulfil her dying father's wish.

A source told The Sun: "Ayesha will be completely out of her comfort zone in Albert Square, she comes from a much more sheltered place."

Shivani Ghai said: "I've been watching EastEnders for years and am excited to be joining such an iconic show"

The actress has previously had roles in The Bill, My Hero, Doctors and Spooks among others, while more recently she starred in the movie Cleanskin opposite Sean Bean and Charlotte Rampling.

Problem with the Branning's is yet again there is too much overkill of them, plus we have Ava's son Dexter on his way too who will be pally with Jay, Lola and Abi.

I quite like Alice, she is a nice and normal character which is what you need when most of the characters in the square are normally vile to one another and going through characters.

I agree that the show is in need of a new family and some more fresh blood, new storylines and ideas to liven the show up more.

He is not a Branning, although Tyler Moon needs the axe;).

EastEnders clearly hasn't been doing their research as of late, though. It's impossible for a white woman (Cora) to give birth to a 100% black girl (Ava). Should she not be bi-racial and look like Libby or something?

Tyler, Whitney, Fatboy, Tamwar, Lauren, Joey, Poppy, Alice, Derek, Jack, Kim, Ray, Kat, Alfie, Billy and Denise need to go. It's a shame, because I really like Denise (and Diane Parish is a fine actress), but there's simply nothing for her to be on the square for. She's been a "glorified extra" since all that nonsense with Lucas killing Jordan's dog and all that.

Think the last time the cast was so poor was in late 2006/early 2007, with Pretti/Deano/Carly/Bert/Joe.

I agree that there needs to be some fresh blood in the square and a family with no connections to the show as of present should arrive.

Not really.
When you have the mixing of genes, the result is quite random. So when it comes to two people; one white, one black having a baby then the baby can be born ranging from very light to very dark.

Their ancestry would probably play a part in those chances too.

EastEnders has been pretty average since the end of 2007 (after the Christmas Day episode) but I agree that these past two years have been particularly bad. The last time there was any real buzz around the show was around early 2010 with all the Archie stuff - people have just dropped off since the live (unsurprisingly) to what we have now.

Edit - only 6.8 million tuned into EE on Friday (as opposed to Emmerdale's 7.4m and Corrie's 8.8m). Says something about the general conscientious on the show right now.

Yeah I agree, really. Corrie's a really good example of a show that has a well-established cast, some of whom have been present since the show's inception. The only real "legendary" characters we have now are Dot (who is becoming increasingly irrelevant), Phil (completely wasted) and Sharon (who's in bed with Jack and popping pills). The fact that three-quarters of the cast are all deadwood who just need to go doesn't exactly aid the situation either.

I just think they need to bring in an entire cast of new characters - and properly, not having them all leave and replaced by crap within a month (in the case of 2006, which was a pretty disastrous year for the show). We haven't really had any strong new characters since Ronnie and Roxy of 2007 - and even they have been turned crap in recent years.

Definitely not. Just how much of the old cast will have to be brought back before EE can sort itself out? Bring in new characters and create a new generation/era for the show, rather than having what we have now (utter shambles of remnants of family units, most of whom are going absolutely nowhere and new characters, such as Sharon, being brought back to swallow pills).
