Eminem didn't call his current album Recovery for nothing. After the relative floppage of last year's comeback LP, Relapse, the biggest-selling rapper of all time - 80m units shifted and counting, stats fans - was clearly desperate to regain his position at the top of the hip-hop tree (A woody perennial, we imagine, with Cristal for sap and leaves lacquered with 24 carat gold.)
To that end he assembled a battalion of trendy beatsmiths, lined up high-profile hooks-up with the likes of Pink and Lil Wayne, and, most significantly of all, rediscovered his ability to mix the controversial and the commercial. The latter is best exemplified by this latest single, on which Em welds brutal raps about his violently disfunctional relationship with ex-wife Kim to a catchy-as-crabs chorus crooned by the the most famous victim of domestic abuse in the world. Pretty sharp, huh? Well, as we said, he didn't call that album Recovery for nothing. Rating 4/5 Stars Sorce: DS

Music-wise their reviews are awful, I'm pretty sure they gave Miley Cyrus two five star reviews in the past.... Also only one sentence of that review is actually reviewing the song.

Eminem and Rihanna's 'Love The Way You Lie' remains at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth consecutive week.
The duet held off fierce competition from Taio Cruz's 'Dynamite' which climbs to number two and Taylor Swift, whose new single 'Mine' saw opening week sales of almost 300,000 landed at number three.
The sales tally for Swift amounts to just four days of downloads, after the track was rush-released following it's online leak the previous week.
Meanwhile, Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' slips to number four and new single 'Teenage Dream' falls from seven to nine.
Further down the chart, Linkin Park land at 35 with 'The Catalyst', while Sean Kingston and Nicki Minaj's 'Letting Go (Dutty Love)' enters at 46.
Jay Sean's new single '2012 (It Ain't The End)', which also features Minaj, debuts at number 50.
Rihanna leaps a massive 31 places from 99 to 68 with 'Rockstar 101', and The Script enter at 96 with 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved'.

AllMusic is pretty much the site for reviews. Their reviews really matter because most journalists go there for information and history of an artists work. Everyone wants to get a good AllMusic review.
Not many reviewers bother with single reviews though, especially if they've already spoken of the song in an album review.

I'm not keen on DS's music reviewers. But they're only playing to their audience so I can't hold it against them.
Got to say I hate Q Magazine's critics. I remember when they gave Oasis' Be Here Now and the RHCP's By the Way 5 stars.
They really slobbered over Coldplay in their heyday too.

Allmusic.com was my life during my teens, lol.
My personal favourite music reviewing publication is Wire Magazine. Pitchfork are alright, but they can be a bit pretentious. They're sort of like a slightly more grown-up NME.

Q Magazine's critics are hit and miss. Sometimes they're fiar but then they give solid pop albums a really a low rating and give average indie albums 5 stars so it makes me question them. Plus they are absolutely OBSESSED with Radiohead and Oasis, it's not even funny how much they bum them.

Eminem returned to the top spot on the U.S. pop album chart Wednesday after being sidelined for the past two weeks by No. 1 debuts from rock bands Avenged Sevenfold and Arcade Fire.
The Detroit rapper sold 133,000 copies of "Recovery" during the week ended August 15, according to Nielsen SoundScan, enough to end its stint in the runner-up slot.
Total sales for "Recovery" stand at 2.1 million after eight weeks. Only Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" (2.5 million) has sold more. At this point last year, no albums had surpassed the two-million mark -- though seven had sold at least one million. This year, six albums have hit the million mark.
"Recovery" has also sold at least 100,000 copies each week of its entire chart life.

Eminem has revealed that he is considering retiring from the music industry.
The rapper, who released his first major label album in 1996, claimed that he will quit hip-hop if his material begins to dip in quality.
"Honestly, I don't know how much longer I have in this game," Metro quotes him as saying.
"Looking back on it now, there was some pretty mediocre things that I was putting out… when I was making Encore, my addiction took on a life of its own.
"I remember going to LA, recording with Dre and being in the studio high, taking too many pills, getting in this slap-happy mood and making songs like 'Big Weenie' and 'Rain Man' and 'Ass Like That'."
He continued: "[Dre] would just laugh. He didn’t understand what was going on. Nobody understood what was going on with me or why I was acting so ******ing goofy."
Eminem added that he believes his fans will decide when he bows out of music.
"The fans might say the s**t is garbage. You don't how long people are going to want you around," he said.
"Realistically, if I don't rap, what the ****** am I going to do? It's too late to just be unfamous right now at this point."
Eminem's latest single 'Love The Way You Lie' is on course to top the UK singles chart this Sunday.

Eminem has claimed that he will no longer comment on or make reference to his brief relationship with Mariah Carey.
The rap superstar, who spoke about Carey on his latest album Recovery, has insisted that he has nothing else to say about the singer and her husband Nick Cannon.
"You know what? I got to be honest. I really don't want to talk about her anymore only just because it's kind of like the last thing I said about her was on 'Cold Wind Blows'. I made the comment ['Take a look at Mariah next time I inspire you to write a song']. I don't want to keep beating a dead horse," he told Vibe.
"I'm not even going to comment about it. I'm done with that whole situation. I said what I had to say. I'm done."

FOR THE PEOPLE WHO SAY HE LOST IT............
I'm alive again
More alive than I have been in my whole entire life
I can see these people's ears perk up as I begin
To **** with the pen, I'm a little bit sicker than most
****'s finna get thick again
They say the competition is stiff
But I get a hard dick from this ****, now stick it in
I ain't never giving in again
Cuss into the wind, Complete freedom
Look at these rappers, How I treat them
So why the **** would I join them when I beat them
They call me a freak because
I like to spit on these pussies fore I eat them
Man get these whack cocksuckers off stage
Where the **** is Kanye when you need him?
Snatch the mic from him, Bitch I'mma let you finish in a minute
Yeah the rap is tight
But I'm ****ing with the greatest verse of all time
So you might want to go back to the lab tonight and um
Scribble out them rhymes you were going to spit
And start over from scratch and write new ones
But I'm afraid that it ain't gonna make no difference
When I rip this stage and tear it in half tonight
It's an adrenaline rush to feel the bass thump
In the place all the way to the parking lot, My fellow
Set fire to the mic and ignite the crowd
You can see the sparks from hot metal
Cold-hearted from the day I Bogarted the game
I so started to rock fellow
When I'm not even in my harshest
You can still get roasted because Marsh is not mellow
Til I'm toppling from the top I'm not going to stop
I'm standing on my Monopoly board
That means I'm on top of my game and it don't stop
Til my hip don't hop anymore
When you so good that you can't say it
Because it ain't even cool for you to sound cocky anymore
People just get sick cause you spit
These fools can't drool or dribble a drop anymore
And you can never break my stride
You never slow the momentum at any moment I'm about to blow
You'll never take my pride
Killing the flow, Slow venom and the opponent
Is getting no mercy, Mark my words
Ain't letting up, Relentless
I smell blood, I don't give a ****, Keep giving them hell
Where was you when I fell and needed help up?
You get no love

Roll Deep have emerged the victors of a close chart battle with Eminem & Rihanna for this week's number one single.
'Green Light' is the London-based grime collective's second track to reach the top of the UK charts, after their previous release 'Good Times' achieved the same feat back in April.
'Love The Way You Lie', meanwhile, remains at two for a second consecutive week, despite initially outselling Roll Deep in the midweek charts.
Last week's number one, 'Club Can't Handle Me' by Flo Rida and David Guetta, slides two spots to three, with another former chart-topper, Ne-Yo's 'Beautiful Monster', right behind them at five.
The Saturdays, who were once on course to top the charts with 'Missing You', settle into the lower half of the top 10 this week after falling four places from three to seven.
Elsewhere in the chart, Chase & Status rack up the second-highest new entry of the week with 'Let You Go' landing at 11, while Inna's 'Amazing' is another high-charting new arrival at 14.
Just behind them is Tinchy Stryder's 'In My System', which falls out of the top 10 on its second week of release, plummeting six spots to 16.
The top 10 in full:
1. (-) Roll Deep: 'Green Light'
2. (2) Eminem & Rihanna: 'Love The Way You Lie'
3. (1) Flo Rida ft. David Guetta: 'Club Can't Handle Me'
4. (4) Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup: 'We No Speak Americano'
5. (5) Ne-Yo: 'Beautiful Monster'
6. (6) Travie McCoy ft. Bruno Mars: 'Billionaire'
7. (3) The Saturdays: 'Missing You'
8. (7) B.o.B ft. Hayley Williams: 'Airplanes'
9. (9) Eliza Doolittle: 'Pack Up'
10. (8) The Wanted: 'All Time Low'

Then break your ****in legs till your bones poke through your skin
You beef wit me, I'ma even the score equally
Take you on Jerry Springer, and beat yer ass legally
I get you blunted off of funny home grown
Cause when I smoke out I hit the trees harder than Sonny Bono
(Ohh no!!) So if I said I never did drugs
That would mean I lie AND get ****ed more than the President does
Hillary Clinton tried to slap me and call me a pervert
I ripped her ****in tonsils out and fed her sherbet (Bitch!)
My nerves hurt, and lately I'm on edge
Grabbed Vanilla Ice and ripped out his blonde dreads (**** you!)
Every girl I ever went out wit is goin lez
Follow me and do exactly what the song says:
smoke weed, take pills, drop outta school, kill people and drink
And jump behind the wheel like it was still legal
I'm dumb enough to walk in a store and steal
So I'm dumb enough to ask for a date with Lauryn Hill
Some people only see that I'm white, ignorin skill
Cause I stand out like a green hat with a orange bill
But I don't get pissed, y'all don't even see through the mist
How the **** can I be white, I don't even exist
I get a clean shave, bathe, go to a rave
Die from an overdose and dig myself up out of my grave
My middle finger won't go down, how do I wave?
And this is how I'm supposed to teach kids how to behave?

I dont hate Em, he was dope, and he is one of the emcee's that first got me properly in to Hip Hop, but he has fell off and lost his attitude (Which was some of his appeal) - he went from not givin a **** to openly saying that he would loose a battle with either Lil Wayne or Kanye West, plus he was a freestyle/battle king but now his free's aint all that great and he would get ate by alot of battle cats these days.
And he's not even the best artist on his own lable any more, now Slaughterhouse signed, he below 3 of the 4 of them. Like i said, no hate to Em, and im not tryin to rile you up, but Em fell off.

You can't throw the year's biggest party without inviting the artist with the best-selling album of 2010. Especially if that guy happens to be Eminem, whose history with the MTV Video Music Awards is long, legendary and full of the kind of eye-popping moments that make the VMAs the must-TiVo event of the year.
Slim Shady will bless the show's stage on September 12, where he is nominated for eight Moonmen for his smash comeback album Recovery, the best-selling non-country release of the year.
Em joins an already star-packed roster of performers that includes Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Drake, B.o.B, and Florence and the Machine, as well as in-house DJ Deadmau5 and host Chelsea Handler. The list of presenters already includes Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Ashley Greene, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo.
Over the years, Eminem has given some of the most iconic performances of the modern VMA era, none bigger than 2000's Night of the Living Shadys. During that show, Em began his run through Video of the Year-winning hit "The Real Slim Shady" out on the streets of Manhattan, surrounded by an army of clones dressed exactly like him. The brigade then marched into Radio City Music Hall as Em finished "Shady" and then busted into a visceral "The Way I Am."
Even when he wasn't performing on the show, Eminem — who ranks sixth on the list of all-time VMA winners — has made his presence felt over the years, as he did in 2002 with his infamous run-in with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.
WONT BACK DOWN!

AUSSIE acts account for more than half of the top 10 performers in this week's albums chart, but none have managed to end Eminem's nine-week stranglehold on number one.
It's a different story on the singles chart, with British musician Taio Cruz finally ending the rapper's six-week reign there.
Australian Idol winner Stan Walker's second album From The Inside Out entered the album chart at number two, but the Aussie star could not budge the veteran rapper to secure outright glory.
Melbourne electro-pop group Miami Horror just made it in at number 10 with their new album Illumination, joining fellow Aussies Bliss N Eso, Angus and Julia Stone, Washington and Birds of Tokyo for a stellar week on the albums chart.
On the singles chart, Eminem's grip on the top spot with his single Love The Way You Lie featuring Rihanna, has ended, with Cruz, who was in Australia recently for a promotional tour, finally bumping him from number one.

Cruz's success has continued around the world, with his new single Dynamite also blasting straight to the top of the UK singles chart on Sunday. In the US, the single has peaked at No 2, where it's being kept from the top spot by Eminem.
Australian country music star Adam Brand just missed out on making the top 10 in the albums chart but smashed the country chart, with his new album It's Gonna Be Ok debuting at number one.
Brand beat country legends The Dixie Chicks, whose compilation album The Essential opened at number three, and fellow Aussie Adam Harvey whose album Best So Far spent its first week at number five on the chart.

MTV Music Awards 2010 Rihanna Performance – If you thought Rihanna was sitting quietly on a beach in Hawaii to watch the VMA’s from a flat screen, well think again.
It was just announced that Rihanna has left the shooting of her film “Battleship” to be at the tonight’s 2010 MTV VMAs which will take place at the Nokia Theater L.A. Live in Los Angeles,California.
The “Only Girl In The World” singer will be closing the MTV Video Music Awards 2010 by performing the hit single “Love The Way You Lie” with Eminem.
No one expected the Barbadian singer to be at the event because she recently said in an interview that she would not be able to attend because of her obligation to the film. She said:
“I definitely wish I could be there for Eminem. He’s performing the song we did together. It would have been nice to do it, but he understands. Obviously right now I’m doing something that is a priority to me. The VMAs will be there next year. I’ll have a lot more music out by then.”
It looks like she had a change of heart. Are you eager to see the performance?

Lil Wayne and Swizz Beats have recorded a song inspired by Eminem’s classic hit Stan.
Speaking to MTV News US the track's producer (and hubby of Alicia Keys) Swizz explained that there was some confusion about Shady recording his own sequel.
He said: “Off my album, there was a lot of controversy over this before. The Eminem album before [Recovery], Relapse, I submitted a beat to him called 'Stan 2.'… it got out of hand in the media. He didn't want to do 'Stan 2.'
“But what I have on my album is a song called 'Anne' with (Lil) Wayne, which is crazy. Taking something that people remember and putting them in that time and taking it to the next level, the way that Wayne tells Anne he's sorry what happened to Stan. The album is crazy."
Mr Beats - who is responsible for hits like Chris Brown’s I Can Transform Ya and Jay-Z’s On To The Next One - also confirmed he’s working on new albums for Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Beyonce.

With nominations for the 53rd annual Grammy Awards not being announced until December 1, Eminem is already being seen as a top contender to pick up the most trophies. To date, his album Recovery has sold 2.7 million copies, the strongest sales of 2010.
Many music industry insiders and executives foresee the 2011 Grammys having the most competitive record and song of the year nominees in recent memory. Next year’s Grammy night is also being seen as bittersweet for those in the music industry, as it will show the shift away from albums and toward the less profitable singles.
The award show’s main categories are song and record of the year, album of the year, and best new artist.
It was unanimous among those surveyed on possible nominees for song and record of the year that Eminem and Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie”; Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now”; Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind,” and Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” would fight for top honors.
The album of the year category is seen as subpar, but Eminem’s Recovery remains a favorite to win.
“This is Eminem’s year,” says Billy Mann, who served as co-writer and producer of Pink’s hit “Glitter In the Air.” “He brought his best game and then some. The public can feel it and the industry can feel it.”
Other albums that are seen as possible nominations for album of the year are Sade’s Soldier of Love, Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3, Lady Antebellum’s Need You Now, Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs, Usher’s Raymond v. Raymond, Herbie Hancock’s The Imagine Project, and Robert Plant’s Band of Joy.
For best new artist, many see it coming down to Justin Bieber and Drake, with Drake taking home the award. Florence & the Machine, Susan Boyle, and Adam Lambert are seen as other possible nominees. B.o.B and Mumford & Sons were also mentioned.
Newcomers Nicki Minaj and Bruno Mars are ineligible for nomination due to their album release dates falling outside of the eligibility period which is September 1, 2009-September 20, 2010.
Grammy nominations will be announced during the third annual “Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!—Countdown to Music’s Biggest Night” concert. The Grammys will air on CBS on February 13.

Was just watching that before Eoin! Reckon it's one of the best Em interviews I've seen actually, he's VERY open and seemed totally relaxed, I can't get over how he's changed, and he's looking SO good now. It's scary to think how close he came to dying from that overdose, can't help but admire him for how he's made it through to the other side.

Everyone loves a comeback story, and in 2010, that's what they got from Eminem.
Even though Marshall Mathers sold 608,000 copies of 2009's Relapse in its first week, the project was panned by critics and longtime Em fans. They said he rhymed in too many weird voices, that the production sounded dated and that the subject matter was too grim. The LP didn't make enough of an impact, and there really wasn't much buzz around Eminem to even warrant him making the Hottest MCs list last year.
This year, however, was totally different. Eminem pretty much dominated 2010 from start to finish, and the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust voted him the #1 Hottest MC in the Game. "Obviously, the last album was lackluster," mtvU's Yomi Desalu said during the Hottest MCs roundtable discussion. "I think he recognized that, not being on the board last year."
Em got back in the swing of things this year, first by ripping the all-star posse cut "Forever," which, despite being released in September 2009, had enough momentum to keep playing all the way into 2010. Then he guested on the Lil Wayne single "Drop the World," a highly anticipated duet between the two rappers that had been buzzed about for years; added a poignant verse to the remix of B.o.B's "Airplanes"; and even dropped a couple of freestyles (on Drake's "Over" beat and Lloyd Banks' "Beamer, Benz or Bentley").
It all led up to the release of the first single from Recovery, "Not Afraid." The song was a turn of form for Em that found him spitting motivational rhymes and encouraging people to face their fears, for better or worse. In a post-recession America, it felt like a message people really needed to hear: Don't give up, because we're all in this together. "Not Afraid" hit #1 on the Hot 100 and pushed Recovery to 741,000 units sold its first week. Em followed that with "Love the Way You Lie," which was poignantly assisted by Rihanna.
That song also hit #1 on the Hot 100, as well as pretty much every other Billboard chart. The video was viewed 6.6 million times on the day it debuted on Vevo, a record for the site, and has since been viewed 167 million times. Both songs remain staples on radio playlists and video countdowns nationwide.
"Something about Em this time around, you don't feel like he's following some type of formula," MTV Jams' Tuma Basa said. "He didn't come out with that corny Slim Shady record. This time, he came like, 'I came to play.' And the records have this motivational anthemic type [of feel] we haven't seen in him. He's stepping into a new space."
While there's little doubt Em will take home a stack of trophies at the 2011 Grammys, he actually nabbed two this year for Best Rap Album (Relapse) and Best Performance by a Duo or Group ("Crack a Bottle" with Dr. Dre and 50 Cent). He also brought home VMAs for the Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video for "Not Afraid," while winning three Teen Choice Awards (Choice Rap Album for Relapse, Choice Rap Artist and Choice Rap/Hip-Hop Track for "Love the Way You Lie").
He also had a handful of performances on the BET Awards, the VMAs and the Grammy Awards. And who could forget his cameo on the season finale of HBO's "Entourage"? Em was everywhere in 2010.
But it was his Home and Home Tour with Jay-Z this past September that really showed just how big of a year he had. MTV News' Shaheem Reid wrote of the concert at Comerica Park: "Detroit hasn't screamed this loud at a baseball park since Kirk Gibson was hitting home runs in the 1984 World Series." Em actually faced stiff competition during the roundtable, where he was initially voted #2. Some Brain Trustees were coming for his head, claiming Jay-Z or Kanye should actually have that slot. The coup didn't last long, though.
"When you do close to 3 million in three months — come on, man," MTV News supervising producer Sean Lee said.
"You think Kanye's gonna sell 3 million?" MTV News senior producer Rahman Dukes added.
Others, like MTV News senior writer Jayson Rodriguez, felt like Kanye held more cultural caché at the moment. He was the new guy on the block; Em was old news.
But when it came down to a test of skills and performance on records, Eminem got the nod.
"He jumped on Wayne's 'Drop the World' and murdered that verse," Reid said. "Obviously, you heard him on 'Airplanes' with B.o.B, a very unexpected collaboration. Now you gotta come sit at the table with the other bosses in rap, and he's doing it."
Eventually, after initially voting to keep Jay-Z at #1, because of Eminem's momentous year, the roundtable pushed Em to the top.
The 2010 Hottest MCs in the Game rollout is now complete! As in 2008 and 2009, the criteria was based on a combination of rhyme skill, flow, buzz, commercial success, business ventures, Web presence and cultural influence. Upload your reaction to our list, arguments and/or your own list to Your.MTV.com or send tweets with the hashtag #hottestmcs — the best responses could be on TV or our hip-hop blog, RapFix! Eminem was busy earlier in Concerts and Production of the new Album “Recovery” and now he is back with a new Single which is beyond the music. The track is focusing on the real life tragedy of Eminem, In a interview with Frioko Eminem claimed that he got inspiration for this song from a recent Tragedy that happened before few months.
The tragedy of Eminem is based on True love. However Eminem is over that dump now and doing music as he was doing before. Eminem also said the new track name is based from the following words” I’mma kill her, I’mma Show Her, I’mma Shoot her” He said i’ll not disclose the title of the song now. Let us guess now

LOS ANGELES (Billboard) - During the past 12 months, the R&B and hip-hop charts have been rife with comebacks, buzz-drawing upstarts and hitmaking assists.
Working his way up the comeback trail after the mediocre "Relapse," Eminem hit a peak with the refreshing sequel, "Recovery" (Web/Shady/Aftermath/ Interscope).
Thanks to the popularity of his hit "Love the Way You Lie" featuring Rihanna -- this year's chart-topper on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs recap -- and his earlier single "Not Afraid," Eminem ends the year reigning over multiple recaps: Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artists, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Artists-Male and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album Artists.
"Recovery" is No. 2 behind Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" on the year-end Top Billboard 200 Albums recap, with 2.7 million in sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It's a grand return that set the stage for Eminem's Grammy Award nomination for album of the year.

Train's 'Hey, Soul Sister' has been crowned the most-downloaded song of 2010.
The song, which marked the rock band's comeback after a three-year absence, has been named the top track on iTunes over the 12 months.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the track went quadruple platinum in the US having sold over 4.8 million copies, and is the eighth most-downloaded song of all time.
In the list compiled by iTunes, Katy Perry's 'California Gurls' was named second most popular, while Eminem and Rihanna's 'Love The Way You Lie' completed the top three.
The feat marks the band's most successful single to date, despite never topping the US or UK singles chart, placing at number 3 and 18 respectively.
On the end-of-year albums chart, Eminem's Recovery was listed as the top seller, while Ke$ha's Animal and Lady GaGa's The Fame took spots two and three respectively.
Train currently feature on Coca-Cola's Christmas advertising campaign.

If there's one thing we've learned by now about Eminem, it's this: Never count him out.
The 38-year-old Detroit legend seemed like he was in a career funk last year with the release of the long-awaited but unevenly dark Relapse, which chronicled his near-death experience with drug addiction and left some fans a bit worried about whether he'd finally run out of lyrical magic tricks. But what a difference a year makes. Near the end of 2009, we began getting excited about the promised, more "emotionally driven" sequel, Relapse 2. Twelve months and an entirely different album later, Eminem has the year's best-selling release, handfuls of Grammy nominations and a fresh-eyed take on life that can only bode well for his next musical adventure.
2010 Highlights: As 2010 dawned, February brought Em joining Drake, Kanye West and Lil Wayne for a rousing, bleep-tastic performance of "Forever" at the Grammys with a tease of "Drop the World," his hookup with Weezy that hit screens and iPods a month later, bringing together two of hip-hop's biggest names for a rough-and-ready cut. He killed it again with his verse on B.o.B's "Airplanes Pt. 2" and then the shocking news broke April 14 that "there is no Relapse 2." Fans were dumbstruck, but not for long, as the MC clarified later that day that he would be dropping a whole new album called Recovery on June 22.
April's release of the first single, "Not Afraid," provided proof that Slim Shady would be taking a more positive, uplifting approach on his sixth major-label album, an encouraging note hammered home by lyrics on the song in which the rapper admitted that Relapse wasn't his best work. In the run-up to the release, "Not Afraid" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and there was more cause for celebration when Jay-Z and Marshall announced a slate of hometown stadium shows, which would represent one of the few live appearances the Detroit spitter would make in 2010.
Then, despite leaking two weeks early, Recovery easily notched the highest debut of the year to date when it moved a gargantuan 741,000 copies in its first week, topping the charts for nearly two months on its way to selling more than 3 million copies to take the sales crown for 2010.
After crushing it with "Not Afraid," Em struck platinum again with an even bigger hit, his domestic-violence ballad "Love the Way You Lie," a duet with Rihanna that featured an iconic video starring Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan as the song's protagonists.
August brought a hefty eight VMA nominations and September the long-awaited shows with Jay, which found rap's two biggest headliners torching the stage for thrilled fans in Detroit and NYC.
In between the gigs, though, Shady found time to open up the VMAs with performances of "Not Afraid" and "Love the Way You Lie" with a surprise cameo from Rihanna on a night when he took home two Moonmen.
By October, Em was talking about being in the lab with mentor Dr. Dre working on the latter's long-awaited Detox album and topping MTV News' Hottest MCs in the Game list. Eminem was also getting more shine for his duet with Nicki Minaj on "Roman's Revenge" from her Pink Friday debut and another collabo with Rihanna on her track "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)."
As 2010 came to a close, he could be heard on T.I.'s "That's All She Wrote" and had locked down a "Saturday Night Live" appearance with Lil Wayne for December 18. He wasn't done yet, as he led all artists with 10 Grammy nominations, landed at #9 on MTV News' Top Songs of 2010 with "Love the Way You Lie," took top spots on the album-sales chart on iTunes and Amazon.com and inked a deal to play a boxer in the "8 Mile" inspired "Southpaw."
Not bad, right?

With only three weeks left in the chart year, Eminem is on pace to become the first artist to have the year’s best selling album twice since Nielsen/SoundScan began tracking sales for Billboard in 1991. According to Yahoo! Music, ‘Recovery’ has sold 3,146,000 copies since its release in June, nearly as many copies as last year’s sales winner, Talyor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ sold in the entire calendar year (3,217,000).
‘Recovery’ took the number one spot on September 26th when it pulled ahead of Lady Antebellum’s ‘Need You Now’ and has since gained a solid lead. The previous time Eminem held this title was for his 2002 album ‘The Eminem Show’.
In addition, those sales numbers for ‘Recovery’ include 759,000 digital copies, breaking another record for the most digital copies ever sold in a single year.

EMINEM has taken Christmas to his heart after almost missing out on one yule with his family at the height of his drug haze.
The Not Afraid rapper suffered an overdose of methadone the week before Christmas in 2007 and has little recollection of the holidays, which he ruined for his family.
He says, "My whole month of December leading up to (the overdose), I don't remember s**t. All I remember is I was not able to get out of bed.
"I got up to use the bathroom. I was standing there, trying to take a p**s, and I fell. I hit the floor hard. I got back up, tried again - and boom, I fell again. And that time I couldn't get up."
The rapper blacked out and woke up in hospital.
He tells Rolling Stone, "The first thing I remember is trying to move, and I couldn't. It's like I was paralysed... (and) I couldn't speak.
"The doctors told me I'd done the equivalent of four bags of heroin. They said I was about two hours from dying."
At that point, Eminem had no idea it was Christmas Day.
He adds, "The first thing I wanted to do was call my kids. I wanted to get home, and show them that dad's OK... Being a father, wanting to be there with your kids. It's not a fun thing to deal with."
The rapper checked out of hospital a week later.
Holy ****.

It's almost becoming unfair. Eminem and his triple-platinum album Recovery show no signs of slowing down. Once again Slim Shady tops the charts for hip-hop and R&B sales as his sixth studio album sold 63,000 more copies.
With no major releases this week, the charts were filled with a lot of familiar names. Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and Bruno Mars rounded out the top 5. Hip-Hop-N-More reports that Minaj's Pink Friday has actually been certified platinum.
Top 5 for Hip-Hop & R&B: This week (total)
1. Eminem, Recovery: 63,000 (3,415,000)
2. Rihanna, Loud: 62,000 (752,000)
3. Nicki Minaj, Pink Friday: 61,000 (852,000)
4. Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: 58,000 (882,000)
5. Bruno Mars, Doo-Wops & Hooligans: 45,000 (458,000)

Shady reacts to his Grammy nods, and explains the trio of leaked songs that are most likely the byproduct of a 2009 trip to Hawaii with Dr. Dre.
Eminem’s Recovery is currently ranked as the seventh album on Billboard magazine’s Hot 200, and it’s spent 27 weeks on the chart. Recovery is one of three Em albums occupying space on the Hot 200, as the double-platinum offerings Relapse (184) and Curtain Call: The Hits (155) also continue to chart. Eminem has gone on record many times explaining that he was unsatisfied with the direction Relapse took, going so far as to address it on “Not Afraid.” In a recent interview with Billboard, Em addresses the material he made between 2007 and 2010, which would presumably include recently leaked tracks such as “Syllables,” “Cocaine” and “Difficult.”
“I probably recorded about 15 songs,” Eminem told Billboard, recounting a 2009 trip to Hawaii with Dr. Dre. “And I think the latter half of those, probably about the last three or four felt lik, ‘OK, I’m starting to get back to normal again. This feels more like me now.’”
While Recovery boasts international sales of over 5.6 million, the album has enjoyed critical success too in the form of four Grammy nominations.
“I’m obviously happy with the way that people have received the album,” Em added. “As far as what I’ve accomplished with it, I don’t know. I’m just happy to be here. I’m happy to be able to have a career as long as I’ve had.”
It appears that same happiness could also spread to fans in the UK, as Eminem is reportedly in negotiations to co-headline this year’s V Festival with The Arctic Monkeys. The British tabloid The Daily Star cited an unnamed source while reporting that Rihanna was rumored to join Em for a live version of “Love the Way You Lie,” should he finalize the deal to co-headline the outdoor festival. Lineups for the V Fest are still somewhat fluid, but this year’s festival will take place in Staffordshire, West Midlands, and Essex, East England in August. More information is available at the official V Fest site.
