Eminem, the man behind the top-selling album of 2010, is going back to Hollywood. Nearly a decade after starring in 8 Mile, a movie loosely based on his early days in hip-hop, the rapper is planning a return to acting in the forthcoming crime thriller Random Acts of Violence.

According to Vulture, Eminem intends to star in the 20th Century Fox picture, which is said to be produced by Shady Films' Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr. The two also produced 8 Mile and the 50 Cent vehicle Get Rich or Die Tryin.

Random Acts of Violence was originally intended to be tied in with Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, but the game company declined to sell the rights to Fox after some financial considerations. Early scripts for the film were essentially a variation on Grand Theft Auto's narrative themes, but Vulture's sources claim that the movie will now more closely resemble Martin Scorcese's Academy Award-winning film The Departed.

Though he has contributed voiceover appearances to the comedy series Crank Yankers and the video game 50 Cent: Bulletproof, the Random Acts of Violence role would be Eminem's first live-action acting gig since 8 Mile.

DETROIT -- Eminem is considering a return to the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter says in a story published Friday the rapper is set to star in a crime thriller entitled Random Acts of Violence.

Eminem's publicist, Dennis Dennehy confirms to The Associated Press the Grammy- and Oscar-winning performer could end up in the movie but that "nothing is set in stone."

From mid to late November Hip Hop fans were treated to a lot of big songs from Eminem. A couple songs from the reunited Eminem and Royce Da 5'9", a collaboration with T.I. and two more with Lloyd Banks. The biggest of the bunch, in fact the most listened to song on DX in the past 6 months, was Dr. Dre and Eminem's "I Need A Doctor ."

There has been some speculation as to what album the Alex Da Kid-produced song will appear on, but it appears that it will be released officially soon. According to HipHop-N-More the song will impact radio on February 1.

Days before this track leaked Alex Da Kid speculated that we would have a new Eminem album before Christmas, presumably a companion album like Relapse: Refill. While that obviously didn't happen before the New Year, and those types of projects are usually tailor made for the holidays, there is still a chance this song could be for an Eminem project rather than Detox.

The Ministry of Culture, in the midst of a renewed effort to exert its influence over music distribution in China, has issued new orders requiring Chinese websites to review any music offered to users and to remove tracks that have not been approved.

Associated Press/Interscope Records
China’s Ministry of Culture has ordered websites to delete a song by rap artist Eminem, among others.

According to a report published this week in the Communist Party mouthpiece newspaper People’s Daily, the ministry “demands that all search engines, portal websites, industry websites, entertainment websites and enterprise or individual websites, speedily perform self-inspection and self-correction by Feb. 28, and if they discover the website is providing Internet music products that have not undergone content examination or have not been registered, they should be immediately deleted.” The report referred to a circular from the Ministry of Culture which could not be found on its website.

It’s not immediately clear whether the new measures are aimed at piracy or censorship, or perhaps both. The Ministry of Culture “has started taking tough actions against piracy,” said Gary Chen, CEO of Orca Digital, Google’s digital music partner in China which operates the world’s first major ad-supported free music downloading service, Top100.cn. Mr. Chen said this time, they aren’t joking.

But while the ministry reportedly cited piracy as the target of its latest order, censorship may also be a goal. The ministry has said earlier measures targeting the online music market were partly aimed at addressing “the intermingling of good and bad content.”

Reports say the ministry has shut down hundreds of sites, but as of Tuesday major websites where Chinese Internet users go for music, including Baidu, Tencent and Google, were operating without noticeable interruptions.

When it first launched efforts to exert greater control over online music in 2009, the ministry said it would review all digital music distributed in China, including the lyrics of songs and proof that distributors of the music had licenses to do so. At the time, literal interpretations of the regulations suggested that the ministry might take action against websites known for publishing links to unlicensed music, but it was unclear how the ministry would enforce its rules.

The ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The latest media reports say the ministry has a list of 100 songs that must be removed from Chinese websites, including several by Christina Alguilera, Eminem and Kylie Minogue, as well as artists from Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. It’s unclear whether these songs have been deemed illegal for content reasons and must therefore be removed from all websites, or if the ministry has chosen to put a stop to distribution only of pirated versions of these songs.

The list includes Eminem’s “Talkin 2 Myself,” which mentions drug use but isn’t otherwise any more vulgar or prurient than most pop songs about internal angst, and “Closer” by Kylie Minogue, which doesn’t seem to contain objectionable lyrics at all– unless the Ministry of feels the phrase “be together all night” is too explicit a euphemism for sex.

As of Tuesday, both of these songs could be found on both Google-Top100 and Baidu’s Mp3 search.
Songs performed by Taiwanese pop singer Jay Chou and Korean pop group Super Junior are also on the list, according to People’s Daily.

The majority of tracks on the list have been approved for other types of distribution such as on CDs by another Chinese agency, the General Administration of Press and Publication, or GAPP, according to a Shanghai-based copyright lawyer who requested anonymity because of sensitivity of bureaucratic infighting in China. The Ministry of Culture and GAPP have had turf battles before, including a spat over online games that resulted in the temporary suspension of World of Warcraft in China, although a new round of conflict seems unlikely in this case as companies have, so far at least, refrained from complaining about the new rules.

Top 100’s Mr. Chen said he has not heard anything about orders to take down any unapproved foreign tracks. “We are still sending tracks to [the ministry] to get approved on a daily basis,” he said.

Google did not respond to requests for comment. Baidu spokesman Kaiser Kuo said Baidu has been adhering to the Ministry of Culture’s content approval process and will continue to do so.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that Eminem had made two new signings to his Shady Records. The expanded lineup would help reposition the company as it enters what Em described as "phase two of Shady."

Along with Alabama upstart Yelawolf, the Shady label boss inked Slaughterhouse — comprised of industry journeymen Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9" and Crooked I — after rumors circulated for well over a year that the rap supergroup would be joining Em. Now officially a done deal, the rap collective is set to drop a self-titled EP on Shady/E1 on February 8.

Cali MC Crooked I called in to DJ Supa James' 104.3 NOW radio show in Las Vegas the same day the news was made public and spoke about what it means for a storied underground group to sign with a mainstream powerhouse like Eminem.

"I look at it like, for hip-hop on a whole, to have four dudes come together and represent different regions and represent hip-hop to the fullest, and get a deal to where we could travel into the mainstream and take our music to a bigger stage, I think it's good for hip-hop," he said.

Thirty-two-year-old Crooked hails from Long Beach, California, and has been sloughing it through hip-hop's trenches since the late-'90s. He was once signed to Suge Knight's Death Row Records, but it was long after the label's heyday, and by 2003, Crooked's contract had expired without him ever releasing an album. After dropping a handful of mixtapes, he hit the Net with a series of weekly freestyles in 2007 that garnered him a sizable following.

"A lot of people out East, sometimes they sleep on West Coast artists and it might take a little longer for a West Coast artist to get respect over there," he told to Supa James. "[On the West Coast], I feel like it's a lot of dudes that's grinding, a lot of dudes that deserve a lot of shine and for some reason just ain't getting the shine. I think the door is cracked open for us now and I'mma kick it all the way open so other people can just rush right in."

In 2008, Budden (another MC with a big online following) recruited Crooked I, Royce and Joell Ortiz for a song titled "Slaughterhouse," which landed on Budden's Halfway House album. The track birthed the group and they went on to release their self-titled, no-frills debut LP the next year. According to Crooked I, Shady Records is the perfect home for Slaughterhouse's style of rap, which emphasizes clever wordplay over neck-snapping production.

"Eminem is the kind of dude that makes classic albums as a whole," he said. "And then when it comes to his radio presence, he's the kind of dude that don't have to make a certain type of song. Like, 'Oh, I gotta make a club banger. He could do 'I'm Not Afraid' and talk about his life and still make a smash hit out of it. So he's very respected; I plan on fully utilizing that."

"We just gonna come with the same thing," Crooked continued, insisting Slaughterhouse won't go pop. "We gon' stick with what got us here. It's like when you're in the Super Bowl. If you're running game got you to the Super Bowl, don't start passing. We're just gonna stick to our guns."

Eminem took a five-year break between albums before he released Relapse and Recovery in consecutive years. Now, with two handfuls of Grammy nominations, will the Detroit lyricist be putting out another album anytime soon?

According to Alex Da Kid, who produced Em's "Love the Way You Lie," the veteran MC is always working, so it's within the realm of possibility.

"We're constantly working and we never know what projects the things we're working on will land," he told MTV News. "But we have great musical chemistry, so he's someone I pray to work with for the rest of my career, hopefully.

"I think he's in a great position where [he and Dr. Dre] can make music," he continued. "And whenever they feel like it, they can put it out. There's not a label telling them what to do, because they've been so successful, so it's really up to him."

Eminem will be plenty busy this year whether he puts out a new project or not. He announced last week two new signings to Shady Records: underground supergroup Slaughterhouse and upstart rapper Yelawolf.

Em called the acquisitions the next leg in his company's evolution, from D12 and Cashis (both still signed to the label) to Yelawolf and his new collective, which features Joe Budden, Royce Da 5'9", Joell Ortiz and Crooked I.

"Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse, it's kinda phase two of Shady," Eminem explained in a statement. "It's the new generation of Shady Records, and as we're trying to rebuild our label, it's exciting for hip-hop, and with all of these forces coming together and with what everybody's capable of on the mic, it's gonna be fun."

Can you say exactly how many tracks you have right now that aren’t available anywhere else on the internet?

I have 4 songs that are complete, around 12 songs as samples, from 30 seconds to 1 minute long.

What era do you guess they are from?

3 I’m assuming from Encore, 1 from Relapse since he mentions relapsing.

Is there accent on that one? Do the others sound druggy/or how do they sound like Encore era?

One I already talked about, which is the one where he is talking about a wee wee, whatever that means. I’m gonna up a sample of it a little after the interview. He is talking about bananas and berries. This is the song I said was worse than Fack.

There is another song I only have a sample of. I’m still not sure if I want to buy it. It’s called "Uh No.”

Some of the lyrics:

"First I re-up then I relapsed, then I went to rehab and now I detox after I see doc"

As far as I know it’s a Relapse 2 song.

Another song is called "It’s Been Real.” It’s another song he made for Proof. There is no rapping in the song. He does the whole song singing.

Some of the lyrics:

“Thanks it’s been real..I love you but I can’t deal with the stress this game has given meeeeeeeeee....but before I go I know I can’t close this show without closure....”

Do you plan on leaking any of the songs you currently have?

No I will not leak any ****ty song period, and that’s all I have right now. Some people like balla asked me if I regret not leaking Syllable although I had it. I don’t regret it even if I knew for sure that guy who claimed he had did have it. I still won’t leak it. I don’t want to be linked with ****ty music. I was never going to leak Topless. I did it to shut bitches up until RB got back up.

I’m also offered music way back before Eminem was famous and I’m not even bothered to check if it’s released or not or if people have it. One title I remember is Phat Friend.

How does that Proof song compare to Difficult and You're Never Over in quality? Does it sound like it was made before or after Difficult?

After Difficult for sure. I’m sure it was going to be the last song to whatever it was intended to be for. As he mentions that he can’t close the show before doing a song for Proof. But I’m done leaking Proof songs.

Another song I have is called "Give Me The Ball." That is another ****ty song. Throughout the song he keeps talking about balls...

“Know what I’m doing give me the ball or your life is ruined" ..."Give me the ball you don’t know what to do with it...shoot it in the basket"..."You’re trying to touch **** down" ...garbage.

Any features?

There is one with Obie but it’s not that good.

Some of the lyrics from Em:

“Greet him with a shake he isn’t as mean as what they say as the thing is he can’t think of things to say..so they mistake him for being crazed...we part ways so your impression of him change you don’t think he’s strange...you turn around and give him thanks"

Another one is with D12 and I only have Em's verse. I don't know if i want to buy the whole thing.

I’m not sure when the song was made but Em is using his screaming voice with no accent and the beat is kinda dope...

"Get ‘em, got it ****ing A been this way since B-C* what can I say I’m stuck with my ways...you ain’t superman, stay in your lane"

What are you up to right now?

I was looking for new music Eminem was recording but I didn’t have any luck. Then Royce actually told me that Eminem isn’t recording as much nowadays although he is always in the studio. So I started looking for older songs like Cocaine and Difficult, but that was about it when it came to good songs. I heard around 50 songs from different sources like phone and msn, but nothing sounded good except these 2. So now I’m trying go even further back.

But no matter how hard I try I still come empty. I keep getting promises that "this song" is from 2001, but it has an accent so I know it’s from Relapse. Although we never heard it it’s still not worth buying. I have now one hope remaining of a mixtape from 2000. I won’t say the name of the mixtape but it contains Mathers. Another mixtape from 1998 called "K City.” Both mixtapes are in the process of getting cracked, but it takes a bit of time.

Some people need to understand I can’t get songs out of nowhere. When I first wanted to get Eminem songs I did it for RB. When I got Doctor the only place I thought of was RB. Even when I leaked it to RB I didn’t think about how huge it will get. Also when I got new songs I thought of RB. And now again I’m trying to get songs for the members of RB like Swizz, Mano, Balla, Dev One, Ty, Ama, Solo....etc, because I want to give back to the greatest forum on the net.

But people are starting to really push me away. I’m doing everything I can but they don’t seem to understand that this is not easy.

If you want ****ty music I can get it in 5 minutes, but good songs are not that easy to get. I even doubt anything Eminem made during 2000 ever touched an online PC. Someone has to physically get them.

In what way do you feel like people are pushing you away?

In a sense that they are not logical people. One day after I leaked Doctor I remember they wanted more. One day after I leaked Topless the same. One day after Cocaine the same as their excuse was we always wanted Difficult from the start. One day after Difficult they want more. They can’t wait. They don’t understand how hard this is. I had an opportunity to get 34 full songs in one go, but I couldn’t go along with it because it was a very ****ed up approach. Before I was just buying from people and I didn’t care where they got it. Right now I’m actually sending people to get me the songs. I’m starting to be the bad guy here. Where does it stop?

And even after I finish, people will again just ask for more thinking I can get whatever I want.

Do you think you will eventually stop then, and when might that happen?

I want to say that there is no Eminem album coming in 2011. I’m not guessing. That’s a fact. I was told by Royce and Paul. Only albums coming are Slaughterhouse/Yelawolf/ and "Bad and Evil EP". For now it’s actually called Bad and Evil. So I don’t know how many songs are left to be leaked anyway. I found a new way to get old songs, but like I said, it’s a very very ****ed up approach. And if I decide to go with it I will have a lot of Eminem songs from SSLP to Recovery. It won’t involve hacking or anything like that.

Can you describe at all how it's a ****ed up approach?

I will not feel proud of myself anymore. Leaking every song I had was ok to me because I bought it fair and square. Even sending hackers online to get it is ok to a limit. But what I’m talking about involves putting actual people in jail for a very long time. Even if the other parties are ok with it, I can’t go along with it. I know people now think even hacking puts people in jail, but it’s completely different from what I’m talking about here...sorry for not going into details.

What did Paul and Royce promise you if you gave your source?

Royce wanted me to call Eminem on the phone. Maybe that’s his way to make me talk about everything. Royce said "they will take care of me" whatever that means.

Can you give specific numbers for what you're paying for these tracks?

As a total I spent more than $1,500 on songs alone, but people need to understand I paid much more than that just to find contacts. You have to be scammed knowing you will be scammed just to filter these people out. You have to pay for contact information.

Actually I paid around $700 USD just to get some MMLP songs that I might never get, and I’m quite okay with that. I just hope members know how much I’m trying to get them MMLP songs.

You've said before money is no issue to you. When does it become an issue though? When do you reach your breaking point of not wanting to spend more money tracking down old Eminem music?

It’s never going to be an issue if I want to spend more money, but if I feel like it’s impossible to get older tracks I will stop. No one is rich enough to spend money on Fack.

It’s not even a money issue. It’s more of a principle. I will not spend money on ****ty songs. I might get one or two since they sounded good on a sample, but most of the time you can tell it’s bad based on a sample.

Do you feel like people need to appreciate what you're doing more for the forum?

No, I don’t feel that way. No matter how they feel I will still try to get more Eminem songs because I’m a fan and want to get his music before anyone. But some things are pushing me away from RB. Almost every thread is either about me or mentions me inside the thread. It’s really getting stupid. Everyone likes to be mentioned here and there, but news sites starting to quote me using a "fake" post, people making twitters pretending to me, actual girls from my country want to hook up with me because I am "koolo" on the net. It’s getting pathetic. Not a day passes by without PMs begging me for ****.

Do you feel like you're getting too noticed now? You would rather remain a bit more undercover?

Let’s just say I can relate now when I listen to Say Goodbye Hollywood lol, but for real, I’m cool with people knowing me. Just wish the dick riding will cool down a bit. I’m really ok with people mentioning me, but dick riding is very different.

Are you still looking to buy Rap Basement?

I don’t think Jason understands me when I tell him I want to buy it. He keeps talking about doing "biz" with me and keeps saying let’s be "partnrs"...keeps calling me "bro.” And Dave is on vacation for 3 months now. I dunno what’s going on anymore. By the way I can prove Jason is a snitch for Paul. Idiot claim he is "fired,” but I can prove that cock sucker is lying. Unless Paul is lying and I doubt jason is that important to Paul.

What happened with ruff and shane?

I don’t know/care about shane. I really know nothing about him, but he is a soldier that actually put his life on the line for a better world. Ruff locks threads...who the **** is that mexican ****** to tell anybody anything? He is clearly not in a position to say **** to even Monk. If he died will he be missed? Will anything in the world change? If that cock sucker drops dead right now what will happen ? Ama will just have to pick up the pace in locking threads. Actually not even that since that lazy mexican doesn’t even do admin things. He is worthless, so I felt he shouldn’t say anything to a soldier.

How do you feel about the RB awards?

I was really really REALLY REALLLLLY shocked I lost. How can I lose after the year I had. I don’t really care much about them but it just doesn’t make sense. I can’t open RB without threads about me, and I lost 2 awards and I won 1 award by 1 vote. It doesn’t make sense. Even Em wants to holla at me and I lost, lol.

Even if I started leaking songs at Dec 25, I still did more in those 5 days than the rest of RB combined. Not to degrade anyone but that’s a fact.

How have you been maintaining secrecy with your sources?

I bought a laptop just for hackers. I have an msn there with more than 35 hackers just for this. One time I wrote "I want an email hacked" and I got around 16 windows popping up. And I’m not talking about noob hackers...hand picked.

What will you be leaking next and when?

I can’t really tell. I will for sure leak samples for ****ty songs to make this interview more interesting. For songs I will leak them whenever I get something worth leaking.

Iceman

I can’t open RB without threads about me, and I lost 2 awards and I won 1 award by 1 vote. It doesn’t make sense. Even Em wants to holla at me and I lost, lol.

Basically he has tons of snippets and if people want them then he's gonna leak them, money isnt an issue buying songs he's rich. He talked with eminems manager Paul and he threatened him and said he was gonna get him. He is in the process of hacking 2 mixtapes and purchasing some songs. the songs he said he had from last week will be leaked soon when people stop slating him on RB. and there is no eminem album this year, he has Paul recorded saying that.

Eminem blasts off with former porn star Sasha Grey on the set of his video for “Space Bound,” the fourth single off his Grammy-winning album Recovery. Shot in Santa Clarita, Calif., the clip sees the Detroit rapper teaming back up with “Love the Way You Lie” director Joseph Kahn for the three-day shoot, filmed at a roadside diner and hotel in the freezing hours of the early morning.

Em and Grey appear together in almost every scene of the intense storyline, while the reclusive MC filmed several performance and acting scenes inside the diner. Check below to see more on-set pics from the shoot.

With the many achievements that Eminem has garnered over his lustrous 13 year career, it seems as though each and every one can be considered a wrinkle in time throughout his life in Hip-Hop pushing and keeping him at the top.

Apparently his latest achievement can now put him over the hill. According to FameCount.com, the Detroit Emcee has become the third musician, however first Hip-Hop artist to reach over a billion views. His official YouTube page currently holds 28 music videos since his debut album, ‘The Slim Shady LP.’ He joins the likes of fellow Interscope label mate Lady Gaga and teen phenomenon, Justin Bieber, who as of now is the only artist to receive 1.3 billion views.

(NEW YORK) -- Eminem's Recovery now officially holds the record for the best-selling digital album in history, according to Yahoo!'s Chart Watch column.

Recovery took the spot from Lady Gaga's The Fame by selling 922,000 digital copies so far, compared to The Fame’s 919,000. Recovery also sold its first 500,000 digital copies in just six weeks, which is faster than any other album to date.

The first album to ever hold the title for best-selling digital album was Coldplay’s X&Y, back in 2006. It eventually lost out to The Fray's How to Save a Life. Then, The Fray lost the title to John Mayer's Continuum, until Coldplay took it back with Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. Gaga then took the title from Coldplay

If you've been following the music industry over the last decade, you already know that earning a platinum record (one million sold) takes a perfect combination of hits, hype and marketing. Going diamond, which is selling 10 million, is nearly unthinkable outside of legacy artists such as Michael Jackson. Yet Eminem somehow has done it again. The ever-popular Detroit rapper just scored his second diamond disc with 2002's 'The Eminem Show' nearly a decade after it was originally released.

The RIAA confirms the diamond certification for the disc as of March 7, 2011. Em, real name Marshall Mathers, also scored a diamond record for his breakout 'Marshall Mathers LP,' which was released back in 2000. His next closest, 'Encore,' sits around 7 million sold, while his most recent effort 'Recovery' is inching closer to 4 million total sales in less than a year.

'The Eminem Show,' the rapper's fourth solo LP, features hits like 'Without Me,' 'Cleanin' Out My Closet' and the Aerosmith-sampling 'Sing for the Moment.' It also featured a more reflexive and lighthearted persona for the rapper. While previous efforts had focused on how the outside world had messed-up Em's life outlook, 'The Eminem Show' was his first disc to really examine the concept of celebrity and what it was like to live inside the mind of America's most controversial rapper at the time.

Singers and music stars are popular than ever now, quite evident from their growing popularity on social networks.

The man of our recent talks, Eminem, has just gone past 30 million fans on Facebook, adding up as many as half-a-million new likes this week alone.

The American rapper who beat Michael Jackson as the most popular person living or dead, on Facebook, is now also the first person to amass as many fans (& 4th in all, including brands).

Call it a fame explosion or what, Eminem’s fans on Facebook grew more than tenfold in the span of an year; from a mere 2.7 million to 30,030,568 between March 2010 – 2011.

On the other hand, with nearly 26.5 million fans on Facebook, and growing at a threatening 528,000 fans a week (according to FameCount), it won’t be long before Rihanna pulls it off too. And Lady Gaga is about 3 days away from joining the 30 million fans club. Stay tuned!

Rihanna landed a jaw-dropping 18 nominations for the Billboard Music Awards, including including top artist, top female artist, top Hot 100 artist, top R&B artist and top dance/electronic artist. Her duet with Eminem, "Love the Way You Lie," reaped a half dozen bids. That boosted Eminem's total to 16 nominations, including top artist, top male artist, top Billboard 200 artist and top rap artist.

Another chart-topper, Lady Gaga, racked up a dozen nominations, including three for top dance/electronic album ("The Fame," "The Fame Monster" and her remix EP). Both Katy Perry and Shakira scored a triple play in the pop and latin song races respectively.

Two of the new artist nominees -- Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars -- each earned 11 nominations. Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj and Taio Cruz are also in contention for the best rookie prize.

While the Grammy Awards honor the best musical numbers, the Billboard Awards salute music with the best-selling numbers. Billboard is the preeminent publication covering the music business, charting sales across a variety of genres. Covering the year ending March 1, these kudos across 46 categories will be awarded based on the overall impact of performers. Among the criteria for determining the winners will be: chart standings, radio airplay, streaming, social media, and tour grosses.

These awards aired on Fox from 1989 to 2006. Relaunching this year on ABC, the May 22 Las Vegas ceremony has lined up Rihanna, the Black Eyed Peas, Taio Cruz, Lady Antebellum, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban to perform. The alphabet net now has three marquee music awardscasts airing in the all-important sweep months. The Country Music Association Awards and American Music Awards are each held in November and have proven to be ratings powerhouses. This year's edition of the Grammys on CBS garnered their best viewing figures in a decade.

To date, Janet Jackson is the biggest BMA winner, with 33 awards across a variety of categories while her brother Michael Jackson reigns as the male champ with 29 wins. In addition, the kudos also bestowed a lifetime achievement prize -- dubbed the Centennial Award - on a variety of musical acts, beginning with George Harrison in 1992 and ending with Tony Bennett in their final year on Fox.

Ay Slim, a reality check is what I’m giving you
This stupid drug addict’s an oxymoron like living Proof*
This pussy went from Dre beats to Rihanna collabs
I’ll put his head in a duffel and pee onto the bag
He thinks he’s bombing, but he’s still a fag like Osama in drag
I banged his momma, how’s that for a prominent shag?
Yeah Em, you heard right, I son you
Sun Tzu, art of war, ‘**** happened to your guns dude?
Warning was dope, yeah you were repping your thing
But Nick called you out, you were too scared to step in the ring
Real rap? Homie you didn’t bring it back
Nah, Slim went for that Lipton cash, kissing ass
This prick is wack, everyone knows he ain’t ripping raps
Simple fact: Roman wants revenge for that ****ty track
You a chick, a bitch, don’t make me smite ya honey
Your hospital bills will use up all your Chrysler money
Em, your era of being nice and impressive is done
I need a doctor, I’m sick from you professing your love-
For Dre in that duet, the homo vibe: lock it away
I think Dre’s heart is where you were rocketing, ay?
I called Kim, today it’s YOU getting dropped in the bay
Weezy and Pink? **** you must love to pocket the pay
I constantly spit sick, I got daily vomit
Your daughter’s a slut, look there’s Hailey’s Comment! (comet)
I’m crossing lines like you used to, you might be hot
If you had the balls to pick on someone besides Mikey Fox
Turn down an endorsement? Ha, likely not
Every video, your feet looking like a Nike shop
And what happened to loyalty? Em, get your **** straight
You in D12 and can only spit ONE VERSE for the mixtape?
**** mayne, I think you better call the cops
I just stole your self respect. Em: YOU’VE FALLEN OFF

This is ****ing amazing haha (note not mine, from a forum I'm on)

Eminem has been enjoying good numbers in 2011 not just for Recovery though. The RIAA has declared Eminem's third studio album, certified Diamond. The certification means the album has accumulated 10 million copies sold. Almost 11 years after its release we see the impact Eminem has on sales even in this "non-buying" day of age. Last month his fourth album, The Eminem Show went Diamond as well.

Everything Eminem touches seemingly turns to gold – or in his case, diamond.

The Detroit bad boy, already enjoying one of his most successful runs in his 19-year career, and his third studio album The Marshall Mathers LP has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as Diamond – meaning it has sold 10 million copies in the United States alone. Released in May of 2000, the album also won a Grammy for Best Rap Album and was also nominated for album of the year. The actual certification was made official by the RIAA on March 9.

This current milestone is significant to note because this is Slim Shady’s second Diamond certification this year alone. His Grammy Award winning fourth album, The Eminem Show, was also bestowed with the high honor earlier this year, making it the first of his seven albums to receive the certification. In an age where sales are reportedly decreasing, this one-two punch from Eminem shows the incredible amount of fan support the Motor City rapper has.

Speaking of those fans, the social media network Twitter was ablaze with comments about Em’s latest achievement, and many fans felt that the certification is fitting as some felt that The Marshall Mathers LP was most cohesive work. “His best album. He had 'the glow' on that album. 'Stan' was a storytelling masterpiece,” tweeted @ubidoobidooo. Fan @YoungGriot added, “That LP was all of Eminem, he spread himself bare and we had no choice but to accept it. Nothing but fearless!!” An unimpressed @Breezy_UNI shared, “[G]ood for him, still not the G.o.a.t. tho.”

Fans on RapRadar also chimed in with a bevy of supportive comments as well. “Eminem Show came out two years later with lower sales, but still went diamond quicker? And MMLP only JUS going diamond? Well That’s domestic but still I thought it woulda been diamond years ago. CONGRATS to the white boy tho. Two domestic Diamond LPs. Who does that?” said one commenter. Another fan added, “The masterpiece.. remember hearing this for the first time.. blew our minds away.”

Congratulations, Eminem. Two Diamond certified albums in one year certainly is mind-blowing.

Just when we thought Eminem had fully escaped his demons following the release of his multiplatinum 2010 album Recovery, Marshall Mathers takes his own life with a single gunshot to the head in his new "Space Bound" video, which is now available on iTunes.

The video is a gut-wrenching look into another of Eminem's tumultuous relationships, much like the one exhibited in the video for "Love the Way You Lie" — this time with deadly results.

Filmed in Los Angeles in February, the Joseph Kahn-directed clip starts with our leading man walking down a foggy road in the middle of the night. Obviously perturbed, a sullen Em marches on, hands in his pockets, until a passing car picks him up. In the driver's seat is the Detroit rapper's love interest, played by porn star Sasha Grey. Things clearly aren't all peaches and cream.

Eminem jumps in the front passenger seat, with a pensive look on his face, while another, more cynical version of Em rides in the back. The differences between the two Shadys are apparent. The front-seat version is calm, with his eyes darting back and forth between his girlfriend and the gun that sits in the glove compartment. The other Em is riled up, hurling insults at Grey, though she is unaware of his presence.

As the couple pulls up to a pit stop, Grey exits the vehicle first with a gun in her back pocket, while Em follows her. They enter a diner, Grey first and the rapper a few steps behind. Here, the director splits the screen and the two Eminems go their separate ways, one to the counter and the other to the booth where his girlfriend sits, texting on her cell phone.

Eminem grows suspicious of the texts and checks his girl's phone after she gets up to go to the bathroom. The rapper apparently finds what he has long suspected: His woman is cheating.

Throughout the video, Eminem follows Grey like a lost puppy. It's when they check into a motel room that the drama unfolds. Closing the door behind him, Eminem begins to attack his girlfriend before realizing that she wasn't even there in the first place. Left at the end of his rope, Eminem pulls out the gun, puts it to his chin and fires a single shot through his own head. Blood splatters, and Shady falls to the floor.

Simultaneously, the alternate Eminem, who is still seated at the counter, is struck by the bullet as well, falling back off of his bar stool before the clip rewinds back to the beginning of the 4:30 video, where we once again see our leading man walking down that foggy road in the middle of the night.

Did Eminem imagine the entire ordeal? Or did his cheating girlfriend metaphorically kill the hopeless romantic, leaving only a distrustful version of himself? The image is jarring; the interpretation, however, is up to you.

Sasha Grey offers her thoughts.

There have been quite a few takes on the meaning Eminem's "Space Bound" video, in which we see two sides of a suicidal, love-torn rapper. Since the clip hit iTunes on Friday, fans have taken to comment sections dishing out theories about its meaning. Some have said this is another depiction of Em's relationship with ex-wife Kim Mathers, while others likened the clip to a video game. And Eminem's co-star in the video, Sasha Grey, has her own take on the video.

Grey, who no longer works in porn, is now expanding her acting chops. She appeared, as did Em, on the seventh season of HBO's hit series "Entourage," and though the two never met on set, she got the offer to star in "Space Bound" at the request of the video's director, Joseph Kahn.

The clip features alternate versions of the Detroit MC, one agitated and cynical in the company of his girlfriend (played by Grey), the other more pensive and calm. "You can read into it a few different ways, but I imagine one character is actually him, and the other is his subconscious," Grey said.

Things begin to take a turn for the worse when the rapper discovers the love of his life is cheating on him. He later attacks her, then turns a gun on himself and commits suicide with a single shot through the head. "Space Bound," like "Love the Way You Lie" depicts a tumultuous relationship in which domestic violence once again is a topic. "Em simply becomes company for her, and she mistakenly takes advantage of that," Grey says of her character. "Before each take, Joseph and I would talk a lot about her motives and attitude. Her ultimate moment doesn't come until the end, so I had plenty of time to build the fear!"

Grey doesn't have a clear-cut explanation of the video, but she ultimately sees "Space Bound" from a pessimistic view — hopeless romantics take heed. "I don't know if it necessarily has a thorough message, but I think it shows that even the strongest of love meets destruction at some point," the ex-porn star told MTV News. "Whether or not you come out of it together and whole is an entirely different question."

Eminem: 'Space Bound' video still
Eminem has been branded "evil" by parenting groups after portraying suicide in his new music video for 'Space Bound'.

The 38-year-old rapper premiered the promo earlier this week, which sees him have a split personality only for one half of him to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head.

Eminem also hallucinates strangling his on-screen girlfriend, played by porn star Sasha Grey.

Parenting groups have now criticised the video for portraying violence against women and showing an extreme method of suicide.

"People who do this are really quite evil. Children are influenced by the things they see. If we feed violence, it becomes strong. Like an addiction," a spokesperson for Mothers Against Violence told The Mirror.

"It's all about the money with these videos. Eminem isn't thinking about the families affected. It's selfish – it comes to a point when selfishness becomes evil."

The 'Space Bound' video was directed by Joseph Khan and shot in Los Angeles back in February.

'Space Bound' is the fourth single to be taken from Eminem's chart-topping album Recovery, which was released last summer.

Chrysler is not alone in trying to keep others from stepping on elements of its iconic "Imported from Detroit" Super Bowl ad.

Eminem, who proudly touted his gritty home town in the ad, is trying to stop Audi from using an unauthorized interpretation of his Lose Yourself -- the heartbeat of the Chrysler ad -- in an ad showing a 2012 Audi A6 Avant wagon cruising the streets of Berlin.

Eight Mile Style, the Ferndale, Mich.-based company that handles his song licensing, sued in Germany a few weeks ago and this week, filed a motion in a German court this week to quash the ad.

Since imitation in advertising is as common, and hard to fight, as it is in TV sit-coms or movies -- and one thing the Audi ad doesn't clone is the trademark Detroit tagline -- Chrysler has taken no legal action. But we'd guess it's not unhappy that Eight Mile is giving Audi a hard time.

We've included the video above. The Chrysler ad is below. Drive On thinks it proves again that -- also as with sit-coms or movies -- sequels are a bad idea. What do you think?

:nono: the original was brilliant.

Eminem’s “Recovery” this week has become the first album to sell 1 million digital downloads in the U.S., the rapper’s label, Interscope Records, announced Tuesday. That's about 25% of the collection's U.S. sales total, which is nearing 4-million copies since its release last year, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The achievement comes just a week after Eminem returned to the No. 1 slot on the national sales chart with his collaboration with rapper Royce da 5’9”, “Bad Meets Evil,” giving Eminem his second No. 1 album within 12 months.

“Over the years we've made a concerted effort to engage Em's online fan base,” the rapper’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, said in a statement, “so this achievement is especially rewarding. Eminem made an amazing album with ‘Recovery’ and the fans responded in record numbers.”

“Recovery” gave Eminem his sixth No. 1 album, and it yielded two Grammy Awards, for rap album and rap solo performance. He is making only a handful of concert appearances in 2011, most recently at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee on June 11. Other tour dates are noted on his website.

The digital milestone for an album was reached 5 1/2 years after Gwen Stefani’s “Hollaback Girl” became the first single to pass the 1-million mark for paid digital downloads in 2005.

Eminem has become the first artist in the US to sell over one million digital albums.

The 'No Love' rapper broke the record with his latest album Recovery, which was released in June 2010.

The album's digital sales currently stand at 1,001,000 copies, while combined sales with the physical edition equal 3.9 million, according to Billboard.

Interscope Records vice-chairman Steve Berman commented: "Recovery selling one million digital albums is an incredible achievement by an incredible artist. I have had the pleasure of working with Eminem throughout the course of his career, and I'm delighted to be a part of yet another milestone on his amazing journey."

Adele is also on course to become the first British artist to sell over one million digital copies of a single album with her second record 21.

The 'Set Fire To The Rain' songstress is expected to pass the sales milestone next week, with her sophomore effort still riding high on the Billboard 200 chart.

Eminem recently faced criticism regarding his new music video for Recovery single 'Space Bound', in which he depicts a man with a split personality committing suicide.

Along with Dre, Skylar has Eminem to thank for her continued success, even going to bat for her when she penned the hook to "I Need a Doctor" and the label attempted to swap her vocals for Lady Gaga's. "Somebody in the room suggested we get Lady Gaga to sing the hook on 'I Need a Doctor' and [Eminem] stood up for me and said no, because he wanted to keep my voice on the song," she says. "That was a big thing for me because had I not kept my voice on 'I Need a Doctor,' who knows where I'd be right now." She continues, "After the Grammy Awards performance of that song, alot of things changed for me. It really changed my life. It provided a great platform for me, and I'm forever grateful for Eminem and Dr. Dre." Skylar revealed that she had 6500 more Twitter followers in the immediate minutes that followed that fateful Grammy performance.

Eminem was crowned today as Rolling Stone magazine’s King of Hip-Hop, after a data-heavy look at rap's most successful artists.

First the facts: Rolling Stone compiled info gathered from 2009 through the first seven months of 2011. The magazine ranked 20 solo rappers, including Drake, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg and more. The publication looked at album sales, social media presence, YouTube page views, concert grosses, industry awards, critics' ratings and more.

Em, who was the world’s best-selling musical artist of the first decade of the 2000s with more than 32 million albums sold, had 7.5 million in album sales during the period Rolling Stone examined, more than 1.3 billion YouTube views and 48 million Twitter and Facebook followers. That was enough to land him ahead of Lil Wayne (No. 2) and Drake (No. 3), though Rolling Stone cited Drake as the artist to watch in the year ahead.

The mag had this to say about the Detroit-based Eminem: “As recently as three years ago, Eminem winning a survey like this was unthinkable; his nearly half-decade hiatus from recording made any comeback unlikely, let alone one in which he took back the charts as if he’d never left.”

Eminem has reportedly earned over £2 million ($3.3m) from his slots at last weekend's V Festival.

The rapper played both nights of the two-day event, including a 90-minute headlining set on Sunday evening on the main stage in Chelmsford, where he was joined by Rihanna.

Eminem banked £1million ($1.65m) for each of two shows, according to The Sun, with Rihanna picking up "around £500,000" ($823,236) for each of her two nights.

The Recovery star is said to have booked the gig purposely as he could make more money than if he had performed a proper stadium show.

"Eminem is a smart guy. Him and his management know they'll make cash quicker and without the hassle of organising and promoting gigs. He has few overheads. He only needs roadies and a DJ," a source told the paper.

The musician was recently named the 'King of Hip-Hop' by Rolling Stone magazine.

Obie Trice is back and he’s working with a familiar collaborator.

O. Trice confirmed to XXLMag.com that Eminem will be featured on at least two songs off of his upcoming Bottoms Up album, which will hit stores in January 2012 on his own Black Market Entertainment label.

“It could be more [than two Eminem-featured songs],” Trice told XXL on Tuesday, the same day his first single, “Battle Cry” hit iTunes.

One of the features is titled, “No Turning Back,” and according to Obie, Eminem and Dr. Dre also have production credits on his album, proving that there’s plenty of love between Em and his former Shady Records signee.

Having recorded songs with Em in the past, Obie knows they form a great one-two punch for Detroit. Just like another Motor City team– Eminem and Royce da 5’9.

“I think they’re making a great duo together,” said Trice, speaking on Em and Royce’s Hell: The Sequel EP which dropped in June. “The chemistry between Royce and Em is dope.”

And Obie’s take on his own Bottoms Up LP?

“I think it’s a great album,” he said. “I’m older, I’m real excited.”

We’ll drink to that. –Mark Lelinwalla

Eminem’s much-talked about Chrysler 200 commercial titled “Born of Fire” earned an Emmy. The commercial which premiered last year during the NFL’s Super Bowl won the attention of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, although the agency that created the commercial didn’t even expect it to win.

Aaron Allen from Wieden + Kennedy, the New York and Portland-based ad agency that created the commercial said:

“We were very surprised. We really wanted to win but wondered if humor would win instead.”

The commercial featured Eminem riding the Chrysler 200 through Detroit with a backsound of “Lose Yourself” and a narrator, talking about Chrysler and the Motor City, which is world-famous for its role in making General Motors cars.

So I think that's pretty much it now, I cant think of many awards he has left to win....

Im sure it'll be right up there with his Oscar.

Benzino is back. In the years following his and partner Dave Mays' departure from The Source magazine, he continued to record music ... and finally, over the weekend, the Boston-bred rapper dropped his first new project in years -- a mixtape titled Ceazar.

When we spoke to him this week, that wasn't the only topic we discussed though. One of the most surprising revelations Zino let us in on was that in the coming year, he plans to re-kindle his long-running beef with Eminem ... and promises that things will be much different this time around.

"I'm gonna tell you, I don't want my legacy left as Benzino lost the battle to Eminem. I'm gonna end up going back at him," the rapper revealed to BallerStatus.com. "I'mma tell you right now, and it's gonna be different this time. I feel like a boxer, I wasn't really in lyrical shape to battle him then. Now, I feel like I am.

"I'mma let this Ceazar mixtape do what it do, I'm coming out with [my next project] Vegas Music. But then in 2012, which they say is gonna be the end of the world, you can expect me to go back at Eminem for round 2. This time, it's gonna be a lot different, trust me," he promised.

According to Zino, although he had a reason for targeting Em back in the early-2000s (exposing "the Machine's unfair co-signing"), he received a lot of flack in the process, and eventually lost the battle, due to the Detroit rapper's lyrical prowess. But, after years of honing his craft, Zino wants a rematch, and says he's ready to take on Em ... lyrically.

"Really now, I can consider myself a lyricist. I play with syllables, I use different flows, so now, it's gonna be different," Zino said. "It's gonna be a whole different situation, because I'm going to be going at him with a lyrical mindset. Not just saying things, trying to point out certain things. 2012, you can expect it."

As Benzino continued, he went as far as saying Em's status as lyrical genius is all hype, adding that the rapper's latest Bad Meets Evil project with Royce Da 5'9, titled Hell: The Sequel, wasn't as good as critics praised it to be. In fact, he claims his Ceazar mixtape is better, if compared side-by-side as a full body of work.

"[Eminem is] known for his lyrics, but that's alright. He's not rap God. He has a few nice punchlines, but a lot of people do," Benzino explains. "This is how I look at it, a lot of people are bias because of the hype. When you listen to [Hell: The Sequel], honestly, you can't even say yourself that was an incredibly hot mixtape. He's Eminem, so everybody gotta manipulate what they say and how they say it. That's not hip-hop. As far as I'm concerned, Ceazar, as a body of work, is better than Bad Meets Evil. It's better and I'm gonna stand by that.

"I want people to judge me on my music. If you go out and get that Ceazar mixtape, and you can really fix your face and say 'Benzino is wack,' then all you're doing is hating. I got bangers on there and that's just bottom-line," he later added.

While some wait for the end of the world in 2012, it will be Benzino's year of reckoning. Will the rapper give em a run for his money? Will Eminem participate in the battle Zino is planning, like he did in the early-2000s? That all remains to be seen.

Oh good lord, Benzino is going to get murdered by Eminem. Eminem destroyed him back in the day and it's not going to be any different this time round.

Chaos Kid, a longtime associate and friend to rapper Eminem, has committed suicide. The rapper took his life on yesterday (October 5) though details have yet to emerge surrounding the incident. Chaos and Eminem became friends sometime around 1988 and rapped and produced together for the next three-to-four years.

The teens performed and released music together as 'Soul Intent' when they were in high school.

Chaos Kid came to Eminem's defense in 2003 when a controversial demo tape featuring Em using the N-word was made public. “Marshall Mathers is not a racist,” Chaos Kid told MTVNews. “Although the songs were in bad taste, they were not intended to be taken seriously or even heard and do not represent the true sentiments of Eminem.”

Eminem has confessed that he felt like the underdog when releasing his latest album last year.

The rapper admitted that he wanted his Recovery album to connect with people like him after he forced himself to get clean of drink and drugs.

Eminem told GQ of his addiction: "I'm very much a creature of habit.

"If I'm used to waking up in the morning and having [a Red Bull],
I could do it every morning for the next ten years straight until I find something else to move on to.

"So if
I'm used to taking a Vicodin when I wake up in the morning because I'm hungover from drinking or taking pills…The bigger the crowd, the bigger my habit got."

Eminem revealed that he felt uncomfortable in rehab because of his fame and that his fellow patients weren't concentrating on getting themselves better as they were too focused on stealing his possessions.

"Everything was drama in there," he said. "And at the time, I didn't really want to get clean. Everybody else wanted me to.

"And anyone will tell you: If you're not ready, nothing is going to change you. Love, nothing."

When writing his 2010 hit album Recovery, the star insisted that he felt like it was his last chance to prove himself as an artist and was determined to connect with young adults who may make the same mistake as himself.

He added: "On an emotional level, I want my music to connect with the same kid who I was. So it was like, 'Okay, let me get serious. Because I feel like I'm being wrote off right now, and I'm kind of on my last leg'. I felt like the underdog again."

Eminem is currently working on new material for the follow-up to Recovery and reportedly bought Skepta's track 'Dare To Dream' to record for himself.

Rap artist Eminem and his producers, F.B.T. Productions, won another victory this week in their ongoing dispute with record label Universal Music Group over how royalties are divided for music sold online.

A federal court in California ruled that the record label could not take deductions for certain transactional services it routinely provided during the now-fading era of physical album and CD sales. That’s because licensing online music to companies like iTunes or cellphone companies no longer requires expensive services like packaging CDs.

Such “container deductions” and “new medium deductions” cannot be subtracted from the royalties owed to the artist and his or her production company for music sold online, U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez ruled this week in the Central District of California.

Instead, record labels must split the profits from online music sales 50-50, with the artist and producers. The split until now had been closer to 12 percent of profits (after companies such as iTunes or Verizon’s share) going to the artist and their creative team, with the record label retaining the rest.

The judge also shot down Universal’s efforts to exclude Eminem’s hit albums Recovery and Relapse from the case.

The ruling prevents potentially millions in back and future royalty payments for Eminem and F.B.T. from reverting back to Universal in deductions. It also could mean the same thing for many other artists, whose record labels have asserted similar deductions, according to Richard Busch, a Nashville-based attorney with King & Ballow who represents Eminem’s production company.

“We’re obviously thrilled with the decision because we think it clarifies for the industry the deductions that cannot be taken from payments to artists of digital download revenues,” Busch said.

The ruling clears the remaining objections of Universal Music Group in the case thus far, paving the way for an April 3 trial in Los Angeles to decide just how much the record label should pay for Eminem’s music.

Joel Martin, Detroit-based F.B.T. Productions manager, said the ruling will apply to potentially tens of millions of downloads of Eminem’s music thus far, and all future downloads going forward — translating into what could be millions of dollars for the artist and the company who helped discover him.

Martin called efforts by Universal Music Group to assert the package and new medium deductions several years into the ongoing case “a disingenuous way to whittle damages down to very little.”

“They’re trying to salvage any deduction in the book,” Martin said. “But those deductions only apply to physical product.”

Attorneys representing Universal Music Group could not be reached for comment.

The case already passed a significant and potentially industry-altering milestone earlier this year when a California appellate court ruled that digital music was “licensed” rather than “sold” to distributors such as iTunes or Verizon.

In many of the music contracts that predate the digital age, licensed music is spelled out as an even split in royalty shares between artist and record label, while sold music generally gave record labels a bigger cut. Universal Music Group appealed that decision to the U.S. Supreme Court, which declined to take the case.
