The events in this story take place at random times in a 3-hour window after the incineration of Alice. If the Killer is involved here, then their story may indeed be warped for convenience and illusion.

It was around midday, and Vivienne had just arrived in Centralia by car. She'd ignored the bus tickets supplied to her by this anonymous source, and felt it quicker to head into the ghost town with her Lexus. She pulled up at the town's tallest structure, figuring it a good place to start as a focal point, and parked. She could smell something horribly burnt - maybe chicken, or beef? - on the wind, but otherwise the resounding feeling she got from Centralia was loneliness.

Vivienne noticed that some kid was skulking around a couple of hundred yards down the road and called out to him.
"Excuse me?"
He heard her, and decided to jog up to her.
"Do you live here?" Vivienne thought he had the look of someone who'd spend a lot of time online and behind various disguises, but was unsure he was old enough to know anything about the disappearances she was studying.
"No, I got this message to come here-" Carter dropped his shoulder bag to the floor and rummaged through it - Vivienne noticed a torch, a pretty thick coat and some candy wrappers - and pulled out the letter he'd received days ago.

Carter,

Please, do not be alarmed or frightened. I now what happened to your sister and where she is. I also know that you are feeling so very alone and that your parents have made you feel so insignificant since her disappearance. You cannot tell anybody about this letter but I can help you find your sister and help you to prove your parents wrong. You are not worthless.

Please, trust me.

"That's strange, I got one similar." Vivienne showed hers that she'd folded in her coat pocket.

Dear Vivienne,

You wanted your big break and this is it! Are you ready for the story of your life? If so then don't tell anyone where you are going or they will steal this scoop from your grasp.
But trust me, this will be one story worth reading!

Ever wondered what happened to Autumn Evans, Jamie Wells, Hanna Brady and Elisabeth Miller?

"I-" Carter froze.
"What is it?"
"Autumn... she's my sister," he bit his nails.
"So you must know Elisabeth," Vivienne placed her hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I think they had some classes together."
"And what about the other two girls?" Vivienne couldn't help but let the journalist in her take over - she knew fully well the other two girls were a lot younger than this kid's sister, but she felt it couldn't be just coincidence that he happened upon Centralia at the same time.
"I saw some posters about them over at the church noticeboard," Carter confirmed, and he walked with her to show them.

"This is horrible, they're just kids," Vivienne studied their pictures. Carter remained silent. "Oh, um, not that what happened to your sister is okay..."
"It's fine, I understand," he smiled weakly.
"Listen, is there anyone else here?"
"Well, there's this old couple who live over there, but I saw them driving out this morning. They've just sat inside staring at me through the window," he shrugged.
"I see," Vivienne scratched her arm, "anyone else?"
"There was this kid called Reuben, when I came he-" Carter froze, mid-sentence, as he remembered the two bodies on the side of the road. "Oh, ****, come with me, you need to see this."
"I have a car. We'll drive," Vivienne smiled, as he climbed into the passenger side. He hadn't been this warm in days.

A bicycle skidded to a halt at the entrance to a formidable-looking tunnel. These were the correct directions, Kendal considered, as she checked her mobile phone.

"Romans 12:11 - Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord," Kendal whispered to herself, as she set back on her trail. Her legs were fatigued, and she would really love a bottle of chilled water, but the message she'd been sent had told her that there were people in Centralia that needed healing. Her life in the city of Williamsport was frustrating and testing her faith; her peers at school were more interested in boybands and Justin Bieber. City life held nothing for her: the churches and community groups she grew up with were being marginalised in favour of shopping malls and mosques, and the opportunity she'd been given was a lifeline, a gift from God, she supposed.

These thoughts buzzed around her head in the cold wind, and she felt euphoric. She crashed down with a bang, quite literally, though, when her front wheel hit a sizeable object in the dark.

Shortly after ditching Carter's wild accusations, Reuben had spent most of the night searching through the forest for his friend. His phone had lost battery, and there was no trace of Bella anywhere. The bodies had disappeared too, much to his horror; he wasn't alone in the forest.

It was morning now - almost midday in fact - and Reuben had come to a small clearing by a lake. He noticed, from a few yards back, that someone was sat on a bench ahead of him. They were wearing a hood - probably a good idea in hindsight, he reflected - and he bottled some courage and decided to approach.
"Have you seen Bella?" he cried out. He heard no response. He approached the figure.

"Where's Bella?" he asked again.
"I don't know what you mean," the person teased, a playful tone even though his or her voice was concealed.
Reuben grew frustrated and stepped forward - a step too far. The figure got up in a flash, spun around with something long in their hand, and struck out at him.
A couple of teeth flew from Reuben's mouth as he fell to the ground. He caught a glimpse of the baseball bat, and went to shield his body from it when, with a ferocious swipe of a leg, his neck snapped in two from an almighty kick.

Dezzy's story
In a life spent watching his family make one bad decision after another, Reuben began to feel angered by his family's lack of intelligence that often left him being the one to deal with the outcomes. He knew he was smarter than his parents and two brothers, and being the youngest he was often picked on which just added to his frustrations.

Spending time on forums to escape the misery of reality he stumbled upon a friend, Bella Fisher, who heard his pain and often helped him through the tough evenings. Bella had gone through similar herself and had found a way to escape it, she had found a group that had promised them new beginnings and a life where they could shine with the potential that they had. She kept wishing to go but was scared to go alone. One evening Reuben decided that he had tolerated enough of living under his families mistakes and agreed to meet Bella and find the group.
