Just finished watching the Dead Zone.
I love Christopher Walken and I always watch his movies.
I also love the TV show spin-off from the movie.

Ammi

...there is also a movie on Netflix atm called Red Dot ...I know it’s not a classic but it does provoke thought, it’s an interesting movie...and quite original in its plot...

...the trailer...

...I won’t say anything and see what you think.....I always find it awkward in the what did you last watch thread because I mainly say...it’s a great movie but I’m saying nothing at all......

...sorry about Dead Zone, I thought that I’d got it from the ‘included in Prime, section...but I’d obviously got it from a search while I was searching another one and hadn’t clicked it to see that there was a charge...I’ll go back to disliking Amazon Prime and preferring Netflix because you know that none on there are to pay for...

I'm not even going to watch the trailer and let it be a complete mystery movie

No worries, If I can watch on Youtube I'll do that. The you tube ones take me longer though because I usually watch them on my break at work. Still finishing Fallen, almost there though, will get it finished today

Oh I should have watched the trailer, Gav won't watch a fully subtitled film

Ammi
13-02-2021, 12:05 PM
...oh I just clicked on a trailer so that you could all get the vibe of it but I didn’t realise it was a subtitled trailer...the actual movie isn’t subtitles but it is Swedish, so it’s dubbed...I didn’t find it an irritating dub, though...

...oh that’s strange, mine automatically played the dubbed version....ughhhh, I hope this isn’t some other Europe/U.K. differing thing between streaming channels...yeah, my OH isn’t keen on dubbing either but he’s still talking about the movie and said it’s hard to leave you, so hopefully Gav will feel the same because of the nature of the film...and actually tbh, there isn’t a huge amount of talk in it....

I plan an Easter weekend movie marathon.

There's gonna be nothing else to do this Easter, so it's as good a time as any to get a marathon in.

I'm thinking either Hitchcock marathon, Kubrick marathon or Scorsese marathon. Haven't decided on which yet.

So I watched Fallen...
It was a watchable enough movie and it kept my attention even though i kind of predicted the ending when he got to the cabin in the woods... I agree with Ammi, there was nothing to dislike, good characters well acted with a mix of supernatural/ drama/ mystery/detective and it was a fairly enjoyable movie but I've seen the same thing done much better in other movies... Angel Heart springs to mind...

Bollo
15-02-2021, 11:45 PM
...oh, going back to what you said, Bollo, as well....Tom Cruise...?..I think he’s stepped outside his box as it were for a few of his characters..I can’t quite recall which ones atm...maybe in The Firm was one...?...but on the whole though, different movie/same character with him and quite often having that ‘smug’ quality that’s just so annoying...also in A Few Good Men, his character was trying to be smug as well to wind Jack Nicholson up to expose himself...so, already smug and adding smug in....eeeek....still a good movie, though...

Yeah I get what you mean there are ,of course exceptions and I haven't watched all of his movies, maybe only 15 or so? but the only one that i ever really enjoyed was Vanilla Sky which was a remake ...

Ammi

...I googled his movies because I could only recall a few tbh...I was looking for some less smug/annoying characters..?....and there aren’t that many......obviously a few storylines haven’t allowed for that smugness because of the nature of the storyline and Vanilla Sky is probably one of those...and I recall thinking he was ok in Knight and Day and that it was really quite entertaining....strangely, both of those also had Cameron Diaz in them as well...

His films aren't usually gruesome although I did get a bit of a turn off him after finding out about that scene in IT (that they thankfully omitted from any of the films)

Just finished Fallen

Emm it was alright, it wasn't overly tense or exciting but I love Denzel so  Maybe It was my own fault for watching it in dribs and drabs as well. I was thinking he'd just find an animal in the end considering he'd transferred in to an animal before in it

Niamh.
16-02-2021, 01:44 PM
...Fallen...

...I didn’t not enjoy it as such....I thought that the whole plot potential was good but it was just kind of ‘weak’ and didn’t give what it could have with the plot and also with the cast.../...a great cast ....I can see why it’s a Denzel film that’s lesser known...but it was far from awful or even bad...it just didn’t have the energy it could have had for me...

...it was described as a supernatural horror crime thriller movie, so maybe hadn’t quite decided itself which way to go so covered all bases...I would definitely say a touch of supernatural...horror..?...no, not really...crime...?..yeah, obviously there were crimes in that the hosts became the bodies that committed those murders and so their host life became a serial killer ..thriller...?..well not a huge amount of thrills and the ending reveal or twist was ...oh, okay then...for me...

...anyways, it still wasn’t a bad watch, though...it sounds as though it was but it wasn’t...it just didn’t provoke any thought or much emotion...the characters were likeable enough...(...I mean Denzel’s character and his family...)...but there was an absence of edge of the seat moments and nail biting/heart stopping moments...that’s it really, I’m waffling because I’m trying to pad out what to say and give some thoughts that aren’t really there very much because it’s an okay to spend a few hours on but forgettable movie...I can’t recall enough about Constantine storyline to feel it had shades of that but it may have had...

Yeah, that's exactly how I felt about it all too but I wasn't sure if it was because I watched it in bit and pieces rather than all at once

Bollo
16-02-2021, 09:42 PM
So I watched Sucker Punch....
Watching the first 10 minutes of this movie I thought I would really like it.The premise , the way it was shot and the music were very atmospheric... However when the labotomy is performed and then she's transported into a brothel, then into a fantasy world to 'escape her reality' it lost it for me. It just felt like what a bloke who is avidly into anime (Babydolls 'Sailor moon' outfit ?)and video games would dream up as a 'feminist revenge movie' but really is just a male fantasy film, ...Or maybe I'm missing something?
It's probably just me, I felt the same way when I watched Kill Bill. Although to be fair the graphics were great ...

You should take the trial anyway and see if you like it. I prefer Netflix personally but I've not been using Prime much. I'm not sure if it's something to do with my internet or Tv or what but some of the movies and shows can be buffery (I don't get that with Netflix)

...so Dead Zone...

...seriously Greg Stillson is Donald Trump, isn’t he...it was like a premonition of Donald Trump which is ironic because of the plot line ...I really enjoyed it..it was a good cast and a good plot line...I did find some of it quite predictable but it didn’t detract from any of it../..I had guessed the younger police officer as the killer...but we knew because there was a little way to go still, that there would be some kind of twist ending...and that for me had been impossible to predict...

...a few niggles...when the doctor came to visit Johnny and suggested he go back to the clinic so that he was safe...and Johnny said that he was completely safe there because he didn’t intend to act on any of the letters etc...then straight away he shook the father’s hand and off he went to visit the his son...that was dumb and not really keeping safe at all, surely he would have alway wore gloves as well...the ending felt as though it jumped for me and it had stopped giving part numbers so I have no idea if I missed any or not but it felt as though I did...when he’d realised that Greg would become President and that he would start a nuclear war etc...it then jumped to him with the rifle at the rally...where did he get the rifle, did it jump straight into that and not see him prepare for it and see what he planned to do...?...it wasn’t a great quality either, the screen was always quite dark, but the sound quality was fine...it was a great ending, I thought...there was obviously no future for him because he’d lost the love of his life plus his gift or curse was killing him...and he basically saved the world, didn’t he ...because Greg would never now have that power to press the button as he’d used the child as a shield...and it was a complete twist that I hadn’t seen, even though I know there would be a twist, I hadn’t guessed that to be it...so yeah, really liked the movie../...a good watch...and thought provoking as well as how the world would see someone with such a gift...he just used for experimentation...?..that obviously made me think about Messiah/the series as well... oh another little niggle actually but again not spoiling the movie enjoyment in any way...to be in a coma for 5 years and then remembering everything about the accident and no short term memory loss even, with regard to his parents or girlfriend...surely that in itself would be a phenomenon and yet no one seemed to question it...that was odd...

The Dead Zone

I really enjoyed, Stephen King does write interesting stories (besides that sketchy scene in IT) it felt a bit short though, I'd imagine the book might have felt more complete

So I watched The Dead Zone....
I couldn't find it on youtube anywhere but luckily I found it on Amazon Prime days before it's due to be removed...I was a really big Stephen King fan in the 90's and read most of his books of that era but always felt like the movie adaptations were terrible and never did the books justice. So i did have low expections but I thought the storyline was great, the acting was good and it kept me on the edge of my seat for most of the movie... I don't recall ever reading the Dead zone though so can't compare it directly the book and maybe thats a good thing because it's one of the few Stephen King adaptations that i enjoyed....

Ammi

...just reading some reviews about Dead Zone and also the book and there is a lot more detail in the book, as is often the way...but there is a repeat reference to one specific thing that stands out...(...it’s also more detailed in Johnny’s mother becoming a religious fanatic, which she had t been before...so more covering the ‘before’ stuff ...

...anyway these comments and so many similar ones...

I find it too rushed, the wheel of fortune part is left out (and this was so important), and the Greg Stillson character is made into a one dimensional man.

You know, I've never understood why the wheel of fortune part was cut out. If Cronenberg was going to ditch that, then he should have went ahead and ditched the whole part of Johnny and Sarah going to the amusement park, because it plays out as very odd (and really unnecessary) the way it is.

The film seemed to fly by for me. I agree the pacing is too rushed and they don't do enough to flesh out all of the characters to their potential.

...so I don’t think we missed anything, and interesting that it’s usually because the book has been read that we feel those left out bits but it was felt with this even not knowing the book and how they compared...one of the movies that I’ve always hugely disliked is My Sister’s Keeper because it was not only that so many really important parts were left out but it changed the whole story ending and made it completely different, and obviously ending twists are the whole point of everything that came before....

...anyways, I still thoroughly enjoyed Dead Zone but it did have that rushed feeling and feeling that I’d missed something ...back in it’s time, though... movies in general could have possibly been shorter as a generalisation..?...and it might have been lower end budget as well so had to be kept quite condensed ...and it did work, I hadn’t predicted that twist at all and a good movie...

Heathers

Still loved it as much as I always did, I love the dark humour, I really loved the style of it, it was good to watch a high school popular girls movie/TV Show where there was actually more male flesh shown than female :p The clothes were funky, I loved them. I love the colour in the film. I especially loved the script, the dialogue is great, the words and phrases they used as well. When I was remembering some of the lines with Bollo I forgot my absolute favourite of the whole movie when Veronica is talking to her parents and she says "we don't want to be patronised like bunny rabbits" and her dad says "I don't patronise bunny rabbits" and looks the most offended by that than anything else she says

I loved the dream scene, Heather Duke's funeral, that was trippy and hilarious. I know the subject matter is serious and they made light of it in some ways but I think they still managed to get the message across that every other "proper" teen movie does but in a very different and (imo) funnier way. It's dark comedy and a touch of satire but still with a decent "moral" I guess?

The Blair Witch project is good for non gore and Shallow Grave is an older one people might not have seen but there may be a bit of gore in that - I can't remember how much though as I'm a hardened horror movie fan and it doen't really register with me...The Ring/ Ringu was good but people have probably seen that...

Ammi have you seen the sequel to The Strangers? It was terrible  lol . But I think people mostly like it for the 80s music .

...no, GoldHeart... I hadn’t realised until I watched it, how it would make me feel because I can watch some horror ..there are certain aspects of horror that I can’t watch, though and even with movies that aren’t a horror genre...and it’s not always easy to know beforehand ...and actually sometimes I will watch anyway if I know that it’s just going to be a small scene etc and that it’ll be possible to just not watch that one bit, you know..?..yeah, sequels in general can be quite bad and I think for this movie in particular...?...the story was based on some true events, even though the actual events weren’t true, if that makes sense...which also adds that layer or terrifying when it’s something that could actually be imagined to happen...?..anything supernatural supernatural is more scary for me because it feels less real, I guess...

....I recall Strangers as being based on some real events but I just had to refresh what those events actually were..I’ll spoiler it for anyone who hasn’t watched...

According to writer and director Bryan Bertino, The Strangers is primarily based on three different events. The first is the infamous series of murders committed by the Manson Family in 1969, particularly the home invasion and killing of actress Sharon Tate. The second is the also quite infamous 1981 Keddie Cabin Murders, in which four people were killed in a small California resort town, including Sue Sharp, her son John, daughter Tina, and John's friend Dana. Disturbingly, the motive for those murders is still unknown, as the killer(s) were never caught, and the case remains unsolved.

...so Heathers...how very......

...it’s a strange movie, isn’t it because in parts it more has the lightness of Mean Girls but it’s a very, very dark movie and actually really disturbing...but it’s quite like something we touched on with American Psycho, in that I couldn’t personally feel any connection to him or any of his victims on any level...but with Heathers...?...these aren’t people of great character and they all have very bullying behaviour and caused so much misery..(...not that, that justifies killing them...)...but it’s where it starts to relate to how they make people feel and how they outcast them etc...

...but it has to be said that JD is a complete and total psychopath killing some quite unpleasant people...that line he said/similar words to...’they would have only gone on to date rape etc...and we really felt that, didn’t we...that, that would happen..?..(...anyways we still don’t condone murder...)...and obviously he was going to blow up the whole school and kill everyone, regardless of who they were so he can’t criticise...so a lighter movie in points but an extremely dark character study...

...I loved it though because of those layers...and some great quotes.....I can see Niamh and Bollo, why so many quotes have stuck with you both...I won’t quote any because you know them...but watching it made me think...we should make it a thing that after every movie watch..?..let’s go get a slushie ...?...I really don’t know why I haven’t watched it before now but a great recommendation.....

I like the quote of the movie idea

...yeah I can understand it being a marmite as well because ...

...it sways so much between light and dark as well...it starts off a bit Mean Girls and then obviously gets darker and darker...but just targeting ‘mean people’...which I know doesn’t justify but you don’t quite stop being empathetic with JD either....but when he was going to blow up the school and ensure that all in the gym room would be killed...?...it had become something with no lightness at all....

We Need To Talk About Kevin

Woah that was really heavy. I'm torn in two different directions, was Kevin the way he was because Eva wasn't a natural mother or was he just born a manipulative psychopath? Why didn't Franklin listen to her when she raised concerns, especially after the guinea pig ended up in the garbage disposal and after Cecilia lost an eye.

How would you deal with that as a parent. I can't even try to imagine

Oh honourable mention to that guy in the wheelchair who I presume was one of Kevins victims, what a sweetheart he was

Powerful film though Ammi

...I was going to try to watch it this afternoon but wasn’t able to...I have read your spoiler but I’ll recap before I say anything about it...

...yeah, I wasn’t sure that I wanted to revisit just because it’s so incredibly dark ...and very, very powerful and it made me think of JD or JD made me think of Kevin...I’ll try to watch it tomorrow../...I can’t recall all details which will be fresh with you and others watching for the first time...

Bollo
23-02-2021, 12:53 AM
...so Heathers...how very......

...it’s a strange movie, isn’t it because in parts it more has the lightness of Mean Girls but it’s a very, very dark movie and actually really disturbing...but it’s quite like something we touched on with American Psycho, in that I couldn’t personally feel any connection to him or any of his victims on any level...but with Heathers...?...these aren’t people of great character and they all have very bullying behaviour and caused so much misery..(...not that, that justifies killing them...)...but it’s where it starts to relate to how they make people feel and how they outcast them etc...

...but it has to be said that JD is a complete and total psychopath killing some quite unpleasant people...that line he said/similar words to...’they would have only gone on to date rape etc...and we really felt that, didn’t we...that, that would happen..?..(...anyways we still don’t condone murder...)...and obviously he was going to blow up the whole school and kill everyone, regardless of who they were so he can’t criticise...so a lighter movie in points but an extremely dark character study...

...I loved it though because of those layers...and some great quotes.....I can see Niamh and Bollo, why so many quotes have stuck with you both...I won’t quote any because you know them...but watching it made me think...we should make it a thing that after every movie watch..?..let’s go get a slushie ...?...I really don’t know why I haven’t watched it before now but a great recommendation.....

I'm so glad you enjoyed it Ammi but I get your confusion, there is a lot going on... So I rewatched Heathers and ... I haven't watched it in probably 20 years so the first ten minutes I was thinking Ohh no this has really dated badly... but then it sucked me back in and i realised why i loved it so much... Veronica always wanted to be popular and left her old nerdy friends behind only to discover that being popular is not all it's cracked up to be , in fact she hates her new popular friends and can't stand to be around them but does what they want to keep the peace. Until she meets JD and realises that she doesn't have to stand for their ****.. In the most extreme way...I think she gets swept along with JD even though she kind of knows what he's doing and because she doesn't know how else to stop the hierachy( writing the suicide note for Heather C, mindessly believing the story about the bullets only 'wounding and tranquilising' - i mean she was quick to shoot even after she realised one was dead) but then realises that it doesn't make a difference and that getting rid of one bully, is only replaced by another and that the only way to succeed is to make your own path, not to destroy others....Like JD says 'The School is Society' and I think the movie was a reflection of this, in it's own way...But I loved watching it again..one of my favourite scenes this time was when they were arguing in the car after just having killed the jocks and The Heathers walk past and say ' Young love' I just love the dark humour...

...We Need to Talk About Kevin...

...I guess it’s that nature vs nurture thing...and we don’t know if
whether he was born a manipulating psychopath or whether the longing for Eva’s love and approval etc and never feeling it, played a huge part in him becoming a manipulating psychopath...and the title of the movie, We Need to Talk about Kevin ...but they never did talk about him, Eva tried to ..
but maybe, she also didn’t want to fully face the many concerns that she felt responsible for ...and Franklin not wanting to face that his child wasn’t perfect and that there were many concerns...Franklin really was putting his hands over his ears and not listening purposefully, I feel...while Eva felt more and more the outsider and more isolated ...which I think that she’d felt before Kevin was born anyway in not having any maternal instincts through her pregnancy...in the mother pre natal group, she wasn’t feeling any connection that she could see in others and Kevin was so detached and disconnected as well, it’s like they were the same person at times and it made me wonder what the ‘story’ would be with Eva’s own childhood...what were her own family relationships back then...was there any connection and association to that bonding not been felt...the whole family dynamic just felt so empty, so devoid...their home itself had an empty vibe and there was no extended family/grandparents, no friends etc no family pet until Celia had her guinea pig...and even when Eva was giving birth, the midwife was asking her to stop resisting and fighting against it as if she was trying to stop her unborn child from being a part of her world /her life...

... if they had talked about Kevin then it may have all unfolded differently because he would have got the help he needed and they would have all got the family support they needed through family therapy etc...and maybe there would have been a healing for them all and a family future...my heart broke for Kevin when Eva was so loving and protective to Celia in the hospital when he was sprinkling water over her but Eva had hurt him and broken his arm...when he saw the love and protectiveness that his mother was capable of but had never felt it, he’d only felt her guilt for hurting him and her fear that he would tell someone...and it was also heartbreaking when he said that her room was dumb when she was pasting the maps on the wall...?...rather than try to engage with him about why he thought it was dumb and have any conversation /...any ‘talk’ ...she said that everyone needed their own room and they could do his room as well, just how he wanted it, with his favourite things...so really defining his space and his mother’s space as two separate spaces and not together...like drawing a line down a room, type thing ..you have your space, I’ll have mine...we don’t have to spend time with each other, he wasn’t part of the things that gave her pleasure in life....her favourite things didn’t display anything of him...no photos etc ....and ugggh, that quote that could apply to both Eva and Kevin ...’just because you get used to something doesn’t mean you’ll like it...you never liked me...’...that must have been what they both were feeling about each other...but yeah, so much about Kevin and Eva but for me, Franklin was such a key person as well because Eva had tried to talk so many times to him but he didn’t hear her or he ignored her because all he could see or wanted to see was a ‘perfect son’, having their perfect relationship and living a perfect life...that’s the box that he kept himself in...Kevin felt unloved but so did Eva...

...The Hole in the Ground...

...I don’t know what to say really...it’s a horror film and it doesn’t have any gore and it’s very creepy....I didn’t breathe for over an hour...I found it quite terrifying and heart-stopping most of the way through... Noreen, I think the creepy old woman character was, was played by a Finnish actress...it was an Irish/Finnish movie...she was so creepy in her part, I almost stopped watching when I saw her at the beginning and thought, I can’t do this but I’m so glad that I didn’t stop watching...

...and Seána Kerslake/Sarah was just so excellent.....she played an adoring mum who was terrified of you’re not my son, so well..it didn’t really have many surprises or jumps but it didn’t need to have, well for me anyway...it was creepy enough and I was totally frozen in so many places....I didn’t quite understand the ending, though...when Sarah was photographing Chris through the window and she’d obviously seen something that shocked her...had she seen the shape shifter person again...?..I rewound it a few times but still couldn’t see what she was seeing...I don’t watch horrors too often and they’re something that it’s hard to say that I enjoyed as such...but I kind of did...it might not be a classic but it was a very good choice, I think...

The Hole in the Ground - ahhh I thought it was a very good horror and I was worried about it because it was Irish and I guess we're not really known for horror films or many films in general but yeah I liked it a lot, it had a very good mood? is that a real thing in films? it should be because it was there. I loved the main actor, she was really good, I'm hoping that was really her at the end and really Chris, I believe it was and that's all that matters. The End.

Oh I loved this film, great court room scenes, injustices being balanced and all true life as well. Chadwick was amazing in it and an honourable mention also to the actor who played Sam as well.

Odd to see a rape case where the accusers dignity is upheld so much when usually they're the ones on trial but of course it was probably only because the accused was black, probably wouldn't have went the same if she'd accused a white man.

Totally offtopic but the real Thurgood Marshall really looks like Oprahs partner Stedman Graham

...I loved this just as much on 2nd watch, maybe even more actually, because I found some parts of it much more emotional this time because of the sadness of Chadwick passing...at the end and when the credits were rolling, my tears were also rolling...and Stand up for Something/Andra Day is such a powerful song as well, the first time I heard it was on Marshall and I always think of the movie when I listen to it...

...the whole cast was wonderful...Chadwick, obviously...plus Josh Gad as Sam, who also stood so strongly against racism...oh, I’d forgotten what an ass the judge was btw, rejecting Thurgood as defence because he was a man of colour...Sterling K Brown as well......I’ve always loved him in This is Us, such a lovely actor...and Kate Hudson was also perfect as the tragic/abused Eleanor...such a tragic victim but just not the victim of Joseph...when I watched it the first time, I always wondered what would have happened to Eleanor after the trial...with her husband, her friends etc ...would she be outcast../would her awful bully husband harm her ...I guess that we could say that would be what she deserved because Joseph was more likely to have been found guilty, but she was such a tragic figure also....

...anyway, just a little by the by...they’re not great sound quality but there are a few vids on YT of Thurgood Marshall interviews back in the day...and Chadwick sounds almost exactly like him, he really did become the part, such an incredible talent......and the connection with him and and Josh Gad in their characters.....I loved the ‘testicle story’.......I’ll give the movie a 15/10 on second watch......I agree with you, Niamh...about Eleanor’s dignity, I think if the case hadn’t been handled how it was, then Joseph would have probably been found guilty...the exact same case but with a white man being accused....hmmmmm.....oh the ending, actually ...Thurgood drinking from the ‘the white man water fountain’ and the old guy smiling....magical......

Da 5 Bloods

I watched 2 other films over the weekend and they were both awful so this one was a welcome change  Ok where to start with this..

First off I really enjoyed the way it was filmed, a little bit different, I like how they included a lot of real life events and real life figures, a nice bit of a history lesson snuck in. Also, I was a little confused at the start during the flash back scenes because they used the same older actors to play themselves during the war  Interesting way to do it but I liked that, it is just a memory after all.

I was a bit disappointed that Chadwick wasn't in it as much as I thought he would be. He looked quite thin in it as well, was that intentional for the part or was it because he was so sick? :(

Paul really annoyed me, I know he was going a bit mental and obviously we see later on why he could never get over Stormin' Norman dying but still he was an asshole, sorry. I felt so bad for David :p

Glad at least one of them survived and even though my favourite was Melvin, it was good that Otis got to go back and properly meet with his long lost daughter.

Most shocking scene - when Eddie stood on a land mine :o The way he was walking backwards, it had that feeling of he's going to die soon but I was expecting a gun shot or something

Anyway, yes loved it, great recommendation Ammi

If we are picking a favourite between the two Chadwick films though, I still say Marshall is better

...they were da 5 bloods, though...as if that wouldn’t happen for them.....

...actually they didn’t come out of it as they all hoped...if you find that gold bar so easily, it’s probably going to go a bit down from there is the motto, I believe...

...so wow, this is quite a movie...

...I Care a Lot...

...I hadn’t known anything about this movie, other than it looked interesting from the trailer....it was billed as a comedy suspense, I think...but I’m not sure that I would even say dark comedy because it was more pitch black in shade...there was just no morality at all in it with anyone...so it’s hard when there’s no one to root for ...they were all just awful, the main characters, that is...but it was gripping and smooth and slick and all of those things so I loved it as well but I also hated it with passion.....I mean, it was just terrifying to see the helplessness of those people who she put in care homes as their legal guardian and took everything they had...how easy they portrayed that to be possible to do ..?..and we cant help thinking of our own elderly loved ones, which is so heartbreaking and so frustrating to watch....anyway, great twists, great turns, great cast etc and I hated it right up until the end...then justice......it redeemed that absence of morality in the final moment, for one of them at least...I’m not sure what else to say ......I loved and hated it in equal measures, I was gripped and enraged...a good choice, though ....

...mind you, how is it that there was no end justice for Peter Dinklish...pfffftttt...

I don't normally read the spoilers before I do my own review but I did this time Ammi because

Like you I was kind of agitated after the movie ended  I spent most of the 2nd half of the movie thinking "hang on a second, are they trying to make us root for that asshole who abuses the elderly? what the **** is going on here?" and then I was thinking that bitch is going to get away with it. I was glad she got shot in the end however the "abuse the elderly" empire was already built and someone else will just take over plus the poor guy that shot her will end up in jail for the rest of his life, the Judge never got told that he was wrong to believe Marla over patients families and the horrific scam was never uncovered, so yeah Marla got her "comeuppance" but what about all the elderly people still imprisoned?

I mean saying all that it was a good movie  but it was a pretty unsatisfactory end, I felt robbed of proper justice!

...yeah, I’m loving it as well...the rewatches are something I wouldn’t have done probably but I’m glad to have revisited those movies and I Care a Lot is something that would have probably passed me by if I wasn’t searching for things we might find interesting...and although I hated it with a passion as well, I think it’s a great movie club choice...let me see what I can find...
