...so Trial by Fire...I’m not sure how I missed this when it came out...

...the movie/story left me a bit stunned really because it doesn’t leave anything left to say in that it speaks for itself as a reason why the death penalty has no place ...it’s a true story and a fairly convincing case that an innocent man was put to death in Texas in 2004...I don’t know how accurate the court case in the movie was to the real one but it just felt incredibly rushed with no interest at all from the court appointed lawyer..and no one really speaking up for him because his lifestyle wasn’t one that was approved of by many in town...anyway, those poor, poor children and obviously it was a true story.....Laura Dern was excellent as Elizabeth...and wow, when she had her accident, such a twist...real life really can be stranger than fiction at times...but it was awful for her two children that she was so obsessed with his innocence to the point that they felt that she was becoming less and less a part of their lives...I didn’t know the story, I hadn’t read it before I watched...but I hoped that the execution would be stopped in the last hours and it obviously wasn’t ...I find executions in movies very difficult to watch..and the bit at the end with the governor of Texas...’do you sleep at night...etc...’...’yes, I sleep fine’....it was an excellent choice, Niamh......I’m glad that I watched it....and it totally reaffirmed my abhorrence for the death sentence...

Wow i watched this literally last night :joker:

Interesting Creepy movie with so many questions

As we were getting towards the end I did suspect the twist of body swap, which made me go "oh no not that " lol, the concept of there being a doppelganger of every person was a bit strange ,and had me thinking How and why?, and does that mean others have swapped places . The end feels like the copies / doppelgangers want world domination. They never got rid of them all either. But Jordan Peel is a unique writer and he thinks outside the box for sure

It is creepy Ammi but it's not really gorey or anything plus the story is an interesting idea, I think you will like it (Us)

Trial By Fire

Ugh this was tough, I'm really not a fan of the Death Penalty anyway so these stories are just so terrifying. Todd's prisoner friend, was it Ponch? he said it right, you're poor, you're ****ed. You just know if Todd had a big bank account or a job, he would have had a decent lawyer, been able to get proper experts to look at the fire scene and blow the whole case open, it's almost impossible to do afterwards because those in charge don't want to admit they made a mistake or they didn't give this man a fair trial because it would bring the whole topic of the Death penalty into question, it's such a draconian and barbaric source of justice anyway imo, it doesn't give us a higher moral ground.

But the end was so sad, I really believed all the way through he was going to get his appeal and even up to when he was in the execution room, I was thinking that phone is going to ring. And besides all that he died not knowing why Liz wasn't there to say goodbye and to "not let him die alone" and poor Liz too, ending up in a wheelchair and also thinking she'd let him down :(

But yeah the second ending in a row where Justice really wasn't done, leaves you feeling a little deflated but it's important these stories are brought into the spotlight, maybe it will help to eventually have the Death Penalty abolished

I'm hoping the family Fang will be some light relief?!

...I might watch Us, Vanessa...it does look very creepy but I feel drawn to it ......

...The Family Fang...

...another movie that I’m not sure exactly what to think......I was engrossed in watching it, it wasn’t a bad movie and I think that it was fine to watch after the previous two, which were so emotionally charged...a palette cleanser...I mean, there was obviously very little emotion because they were just child A and child B, which was obviously meant to be a play on their Christian name initial but I think it also described the Family Fang dynamics, in that their children were more like props in their lives and their lives with them was just a ‘performance’ anyway because their real lives were elsewhere...and then unravelling the mystery kind of freed the siblings in the end...it wasn’t a movie that I could warm to any of the characters particularly...although I obviously I did feel sad for Annie and Baxter...but I think that was maybe a deliberate thing as well...that we were a bit detached just as their lives had felt detached and then all of the issues they had into their adulthood years because of what their childhood had been...

The Family Fang

This was an interesting one, I thought it was going to be be more of a comedy but it's actually much more serious than that. What a dysfunctional family. I mean it's really the story of a very abusive and controlling man, a worn down wife and two messed up children. Obviously the mother should have protected her kids more but she was clearly so far gone with such low self esteem, she still allowed him to control her even after he left her for another woman. It was a really sad story actually

Parasite

That was totally not what I was expecting. I had it in my head that it was going to be about an uninvited guest who people can't get rid of, not like this which started out like a con job and changed to literally living underneath the house like a cockroach. Really different, the way they shot it, the scenes of the poor areas and sometimes how the poor people moved it made it seem like insects scrambling, crawling, going under ground. Then I thought it kind of had a happy ending (although I did wonder how exactly "Kevin" had made all that money) but no, that was just a dream :( I guess the dad will live and die alone down there.

But yeah a really great film, really strong visual images of the massive differences in society as a whole between different classes of people

I guess you could say that the two poor families were being parasites but also are the Parks the parasites really, using the lower classes to make them their money

Ammi

....Parasite...

...wow, that really wasn’t what I thought, either....the first half seemed really slick and quite comedic, the way that they ‘took over’ the Parks house and were all employed with good jobs and incomes etc...from barely having anything to eat to starting to create a life for themselves and really turning their lives around..but it started to become more and more dark...I hated how Mr Park kept saying there was a ‘smell’ when he was speaking about another person and because of the sting bugs in their infested home..and yeah, they were all quite ‘parasitic’ I think, Niamh...the Kim’s obviously living off the Parks but the Parks also being fairly helpless without the Kim’s and relying on them completely for most aspects of their lives, even the care of their own children...that family living in such squalid conditions who all carried that same ‘stink bug smell’ that repelled Mr Parks so much...?...were more capable as a family unit of careers than the Parks were in their luxury....
I don’t know, as awful and as bloody and brutal as it all got, I really still rooted for the Kim’s and wanted that ending to be real and for them to live peacefully in that house together again......such a thought provoking film, I loved it but it was obviously very sad...to have everything can be just as ‘poor’ or even more poor than having nothing at all...

Ammi
16-03-2021, 05:57 PM
...Escape from Pretoria....another excellent movie...

...obviously the plot line is in the title, it’s a prison break movie based on another true story... Daniel Radcliffe plays an anti-apartheid activist in the 70’s who engineers a prison break by whittling and whittling and carving away to duplicate a wooden master key to unlock all of the internal doors and the one external door needed to reach the outside world and reach freedom, it’s incredibly tense and incredibly well done...it feels as though they have endless doors to open and get through....and ughhhh, all of the almost caught moments with the prison guards, some points of it I could barely breathe....and even when they did break out, I still thought they may have been recaptured so a glorious ending in terms of their escape...so sad though, that he didn’t get to see his girlfriend ever again but wonderful that they continued with their fight against apartheid.......

...The Rental...oh for the love of God...

...I am never going to rent a house/cottage anywhere ever again...it really was creepy...and it really was a two part movie with the first part and second part being quite different...it built up two perfect type couples...two brothers with a great brotherly relationship and both in such loving relationships with partners they each adored...but the reality was that their relationships actually were quite fragile and crumbling...and then their rental house was the house from hell...I’m not sure what else to say, I was on the edge of my seat and screamed out loud at one point ...it was creepy and scary but not really gory so I liked it...

The Rental :

I thought the first 3/4's were good but the end, even though it was tense was really rushed I thought. I thought the ending was a bit unsatisfying too, I was thinking there must be some significance to who he is or something which was why they hid his face but no just an Air B'n'B serial killer  It was OK, not particularly scary although there was a few jumps

Into the Wild :

Ah I forgot how good this film is, all I could remember about it really was that he died in the bus in the end so that was putting me off rewatching it a bit but I'm glad I did because it's a great story, a real finding yourself and what's important in life type story and discovering that as much evil and dysfunction that there is in the world, there's still real goodness out there. I loved all his relationships with so many different types of people, how he really listened to them and paid attention. The end was very sad when he realises that he really needs and wants people in his life but he can't get to anyone and I had also forgotten this was a real guy too ugh so sad. I wonder if any of the relationships he had on the way were real people too, I must look that up.

And of course the soundtrack was amazing, Eddie :worship:

...I hated the ending, I got so confused and went from thinking...oh, he’s wearing a mask to, oh no, that’s his actual face, then...to, oh it is a mask, he’s taking it off to...what was the point in taking it off if we don’t get to see him...to, so does he watch people only in rental properties or does he watch them and then kill them...just too much left open in the end and I like things wrapped up more..but I did enjoy the movie overall, so creepy.....

Seemed like he rented places out and then sublet them to watch and murder but not be traced back to him? I wonder was that supposed to be the confusion at the start when Mina confronts Taylor saying he told her the place was booked and it was because he was racist when he saw her name, the killer probably did have it booked and then he booked it on to Charlie?

But then he took his mask off when he was getting the key from the new rental place so the agent will have seen him (unless he killed them too I don't know) was he leaving the dead bodies at the properties and if so wouldn't the Police interview the owner and release that these weren't the people who he dealt with originally and give a description of the guy?

...yeah, I did get confused in the end...(...although I did like it...)...but I didn’t know if he had been at that place watching rental people for a long time but just watching them in intimate things because he was a voyeur etc...and the only reason why he then moved on at the end was because they had found the cameras, which then resulted in him killing them all and there would have been a pounce investigation into them being missing...so I didn’t know if he then had to find somewhere else...or as you said, did he move on frequently...I mean, it wouldn’t have made it any clearer to me if I’d seen his face but somehow I thought it might become clearer if I did see it...I just wanted to know what he looked like...

Well what I didn't connect (you probably did) was

That he was watching them to see if they were bad (although that's just this one persons opinion too) and if they'd done the right thing like call the Police when they spotted the camera, or called the Police after taylor was injured then they might all still be alive. Also, I didn't realise that the killer had rented the apartment himself first and then copied the keys and was watching people who'd booked from the owners (D'uh) so wouldn't be connected actually and that taylor (or his brother probably were racist)

...so (kinda) going back to nets I thought in that he was more a voyeur type person and the cameras were in places of privacy and intimacy etc...but because it happened that he cheated on his one brother with his girlfriend, it completely changed because they escalated it to a completely different thing as well...so obviously then, at the very end...what it showed was...that he’d had to find somewhere else and start all over again with the keys and watching everyone...so he was a watching creep but wouldn’t necessarily kill anyone else...?...unless they did something ‘bad’...?....

There's one called Circle(not the Circle, that's a different one) on netflix which looks a bit weird/interesting, Gavin always kills me for choosing these type of films though because 9 times out of 10 they're ****e, but i think it's worth it to find that 1 that's amazing :fan:

The trailer doesn't show a lot but this is the synopsis :

Fifty strangers facing execution have to pick one person among them to live.

...I did start watching Spinning Out...btw, Niamh...I watched around 8 episodes and I am finding it a bit addictive but it’s strange because it’s not the type of thing that I would have generally watched...it is a bit slower paced and quite focused on mental health, specifically in gifted athletes ...not just focusing on their own hopes and dreams etc, but the living up to those of families/parents etc as well..anyways, that’s all I’ll say, I’m not sure if you’d like it or not but I’m liking it and liking that it’s something different for me...

...Circle...

...this is a really interesting concept and I’m glad that you chose it, Niamh ...because it’s just so completely different to anything else we’ve watched...we don’t really get to know any of the characters/to engage with them because that’s one of the main points of it...that these 50 ‘random strangers’ are chosen for 49 of them to be ‘eliminated’ by death...(...except that they’re not entirely random because some do have knowledge of each other...)...but we don’t really know how the selection works or what the aim is...to cull Earth population and only leave those who can beat the Circle/survive the Circle...?...it’s always interesting to watch human nature and human dynamics in a ‘survive’ situation, pack together and isolate etc..and interesting as well because of the times that we’re living in now and how ‘selection’ for the vaccine first is based on vulnerabilities but with this instant life or death, thing...the old/vulnerable were selected to go first at one point...and then that ‘old’ got less and less ‘old’ as self protection kicked in so the age would become younger and younger...I thought the ending of that 50 was quite predictable in that he was going to go against the pregnant lady and protect himself...but yeah, we purposefully don’t get to know much about these people because we’re seeing them through each other’s eyes plus the eyes of the alien ‘selector’....it was unusual, it was interesting and it was a good watch...

Circle

It was OK, I knew that last guy was going to double cross them though. I was a bit confused by the ending, was that same guy going to be zoomed up again for another round? Was he a plant or were the aliens going to just keep beaming everyone up until there's no one left?

Who would you have saved Ammi? I think I'd have to go with the kid over the pregnant woman. Looks like there's no way she would have survived anyway because they counted her as 2 so she could never win.

Looks like there's no way she would have survived anyway because they counted her as 2 so she could never win. ...the little girl...always actual life over potential life which was what the unborn child was...there was no certainty that the unborn child would survive or that the mother would survive etc...(...also The Girl With All of the Gifts....children have a tremendous capacity for survival as well...)...

...I assumed yeah, that it would continue and continue until there was a stop to ‘the culling’....maybe they had a certain amount that they wanted to survive in having felt that they’re created ‘more superior/intelligent beings...the best of the best, type thing...

...I mean, it wasn’t a movie that you could attach to any of the characters particularly U.K. it was interesting because there was so little time to choose as well...as opposed to being locked in a room for hours and hours or days and days etc...

Bottom of the World

That was an odd film, it was good but very weird. So what I got from it was that the "Dream" Alex was in was Scarlett's? She had killed Alex and was now haunted by him and eventually kills herself but imagines Alex is killing her to even the score? I knew at the start when she told that worst thing you ever did story that there was truth in that somewhere. Maybe be she did have a neighbour called Alex too and her dream was confusing them for some reason? I don't know

Just googled and I think the consensus is that the film might be her dying dream after she'd over dosed

...Bottom of the World...

...it’s really difficult to say that it’s a good movie because it’s such a disturbing movie but it was totally engrossing...you always feel with that type of psychological thing that if you blink a bit too long, you’d miss some key points so I was completely drawn in...I think that it felt from the beginning that her story had truth and from when Alex took Alex into the desert ......it was obvious that it was him...(...only because his eyes were exactly the same...)....I thought that when he and Paige were making love, that might have been ‘the reality’ part with the dog...but in his dream, it was Paige, this incredibly beautiful partner...you know, his dreams being completely different to how he was entrapped in his paralysed state...and obviously the clue as well was those words that were repeated...that we needed to look inside, not outside...anyways, just a really (grim) storyline and depressing movie but so absorbing as well...but I still don’t quite understand, who was Alex../...to Scarlett, who was he...?...

See I don't think it was Alex's dream or "world" at all, I think it was all Scarlett's mind. I think Scarlett was his cousin who did kill him which she obviously eventually felt very guilty about and became depressed and an alcoholic and eventually over dosed but in her dream world had Alex kill her as some sort of retribution

I didn't think so, I thought he didn't really exist anymore, that he was already dead and just Scarletts manifestation of him in her dream. Like sometimes I have dreams that I'm not in but it's still all my mind. He's her guilt I think. If we're to believe what happened in real life was that Scarlett killed him and then made up this man in a hood that raped her and killed her cousin then the "man in the mask" never existed in real at all and wasn't actually her cousin Alex/Wayne anyway

The sound did seem a bit muffled sometimes alright. I don't know maybe it's her trying to hide from what she's done and trying to make Alex/Wayne be alive and happy? But again when he's looking through the pea's talking about being in a dream and then he gets up and Paige is gone and he finds her in the kitchen looking at peas and then the Peas disappear, is it like her guilt trying to pop up and her trying to push it back down again

.yeah I guess in thinking about it now, we knew it was a dream but not sure whose dream it was...?...I mean, he only existed inside his head as well as he was paralysed...?..and Scarlett obviously did as well in her alcohol haze through guilt...but you’re right, the clues are there that it was her dream...her father/the preacher said so...Alex wasn’t sure, though, if it was his dream...(...and obviously I got it wrong as well, thinking it might be his...)...but the clue was there with the peas as well, why would one bad pea be in his dream...he wouldn’t have dreamt it like that, it made no sense...

So maybe his "perfect" life with Paige where he has a nice house, car, wife, job etc, that was the "can of peas" and when he finds that bad one, it's the guilty secret that Scarlett is hiding? lots of food for thought...pardon the pun

...Blinded by the Light.......awww and it was based on a true story...

... the movie was inspired by the life of journalist Sarfraz Manzoor and his love of the works of Bruce Springsteen...through his life he saw him in concert over 150 times ....I loved the film...although there were so many uplifting parts, we totally felt the hardships and prejudices of the time as well...that thing of dreams versus family commitments etc...

"Pakistanis do not go to parties."...and they don’t have a social life unless it’s a daylight hours one that their parents aren’t aware of and they don’t listen to popular music and they don’t dance and they don’t have girlfriends and they don’t write poetry or songs ...etc etc...I think we can all relate as well to that first time that we listened to a music artist who changed our lives, who totally seemed to relate to us, to understand us, to be part of us...THAT artist who just knew us... ‘that awakening’ ...and that’s obviously what Javed felt when he first was given those Bruce tapes and his dreams were opened up to something he’d never felt before ...but the reality of his life was his responsibilities to his struggling family...his mother working every moment as a seamstress and his dad’s job loss in the 80’s recession when there were virtually no jobs to be had...and in a world of rising Nationalism and racism as well...and so sad to think that there are still elements of those things now...

....it was beautifully done when you felt both of his worlds...his world of Bruce and dreams and his world of responsibilities and complete love for and devotion to his parents, who had worked so hard for all of their children....

...*sigh*...it was just a really, really great watch and not taxing on the thoughts ......

Blinded by the Light

I loved this one, lighthearted but some serious issues in there too. Terrible to see the racism Pakistanis faced (and probably still do) It's really sad to see humans treating each other that way. And of course the family issues which weren't that specific to Pakistani families I don't think. I mean it's sort of a cultural thing but similar issues do come out in other families too maybe just in a slightly different way for different reasons. Anyway i loved it and so did Gav.

Useless piece of trivia for you is that Bruce Springsteen is one of Eddie Vedders best friends :p

...yeah, my brothers wife is a Sikh and she’s had some pretty grim stuff through her life...yeah, I think that the family issues were also a part of that time...(...and other times also...)...but because there was such a recession then and their father had been laid of at the factory, it was even more important that all of the focus was on bringing in income to the home...while still focusing on studies etc so there was a future of education and better job prospects...

...I didn’t know that of a Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder......wasn’t it lovely at the end when we saw Javed and Bruce together and saw how many times he had seen him in concert and how they had bonded as well...gorgeous movie, perfect after all of the more kind stretching ones we’ve had...

No I don't think it's the same woman, he says there that he met his wife on a train in 1998 so that would have been well after the movie was set. Gavin said the same when they showed his real picture at the end of the film about Mark Ruffalo

...I read some of the story after I watched the movie and it’s all just a terribly sad story...Sarri suffering from severe mental illness and in her violent episode, killing her mother and then 25yrs to life imprisonment...while Shannon’s killing remains unsolved and no one being brought to justice...

The Men (1950)

Majorly recommended. Starring sexy Marlon Brando (before he turned into a fat lunatic), it's about a paraplegic who learns to accept his disabilities and how to trust that the people around him do not see him as a burden.

Lost Girls

What a grim story from start to finish, the end especially reading about what happened to Mari, how sad. You'd have to wonder as well how much more energy would have been put in to the investigation and how much more public upset there would be had the victims not been prostitutes. You get the real feeling that peoples views were that their lives were worth less and "what did they expect" kind of a thing? All written off as junkies and trash. I guess the odd way that Shannon was acting that night may have been a manic episode as she suffered with Bipolar? And she was just unlucky enough to have been in that killers lair so to speak. Just the shoddy way that her attempt to get help was dealt with as well, a 911 call like that and they take an hour to get there? Mari proved her point so well when the rich residents called the Police to report "rifraf" walking through their neighborhood they Police arrived in 15 minutes. Had they done there job and responded appropriately Shannon could still be alive. Ugh the whole film just made me angry really but I'm glad I heard their story too

This was intense. I kind of had a feeling that Lizzie was right, just because Lola/Rosie looked more like her than either of her parents  Those eyes especially when her parents both had blue eyes. Ugh god though what a nightmare situation, how would you deal with that? What a terrible position for Lola as well, they're the only parents she ever knew but she needs to know her real parents. I really wanted to know what happened afterwards, did she ever go live with them full time? Did Lizzie and Mike get back together?

...her poor brother and father...I know that they were all trying to include them as well and would presumably hope for them to have a part in her life but they would become more like ‘visitors/extras’ in her life...I kept thinking, but surely it would be considered that they were the only family she’d ever known and they’d filled her life with love ...I wonder if Claire went to prison...

...it’s hard to try to imagine really, isn’t it..because when Mark said...’ your darkness is becoming part of Thomas’...(...those weren’t his exact words but similar....)...that was true as well, his time with Lizzie was becoming really unhappy ...and even though, she had her daughter back, that darkness had been with her for so long/it had become a part of her and a ‘typical behaviour’...so it’s hard to think that, that wouldn’t have a really profound impact as well on her mental health...that she would suddenly just ‘be well again’ as more or less shown in the ending...

Yeah, I suppose though, they just showed their first meeting which of course will be happy, that's why I was saying I'd like to have seen more of the after, of course there's going to be many issues as time goes on, Lizzie will probably feel upset that lola loves the woman who stole her more and see's her as her mother etc. This is why I'm saying she needs prison time, Ok she took her in the heat of the moment probably in a moment of insanity but she could have admitted it a few weeks or months later even and it wouldn't have been as bad, Lola could have went back to lizzie and would have grown up knowing her as her mother

...it just shows how not black and white things can be...when she held the scissors to Lizzie’s throat, would she have killed her to protect her horrific secret...and if she had, everyone would have just believed that the ‘extreme’ person had been Lizzie and Claire the victim...

...I would totally recommend Greta as a watch so I’ll hold my thoughts for the moment to see if anyone else will be watching...it’s on Netflix atm...

...I’ll spoiler some thoughts, then...and we can have it as a watch choice here if anyone else would like to watch...I would recommend, for sure...

...Greta...

....although I would recommend Greta, it does follow a ‘formula’...I mean, there’s nothing different about it as such ...it’s quite predictable...but it still keeps that suspense going and Greta is very sinister...it was obvious that Greta leaving the bag wasn’t an accidental/absent minded thing and it was designed to draw a ‘victim’ in...but it was still a wow moment when Frances opened the cupboard and saw the row of same bags...I wonder why the bags weren’t all different, why they had to be the exact same ones...I mean, if they were different then it wouldn’t have looked suspicious at all and Frances wouldn’t have thought anything of it...and Greta seemed so ‘thorough’ and meticulous in thought and planning so that didn’t make sense...for me, there were lots of screaming at the TV moments...the fact that Frances, a young vulnerable girl...wasn’t protected by the police (again, we hear that in real life so it’s infuriating...)...but the different take is that it was another female that she needed protecting from ...which gave a slightly different slant...the stupidity of the private detective going into her house alone and then the stupidity of her friend going in there alone and then revealing who she was...and then that Greta became superwoman and was able to still be such a threat when she’d been drugged in her coffee...some of it was just dumb and annoying but it was very much edge of the seat stuff as well...so a good watch overall...

Sorry I've been slacking, still haven't watched Psycho but here 2 :

The Miseducation of Cameron Post -
I suppose it was interesting because I hadn't seen a lot of conversion therapy films and I like Chloe Grace Moretz. I did think there was a lot of unnecessary sex scenes and I kind of felt they were put in there for kind of gratuitous reasons (or maybe I'm just turning into a prude?) Anyway it didn't feel properly tied up for me. The 3 of them ran off to Canada but how were they going to get in without passports etc or get work with no IDs or visas at 16 years old? It was alright

Greta -
This one was really creepy. The last few scenes were really tense and I was shouting at the TV for Frances to kick the **** out of her, she's an old lady fgs!! Also when she did eventually fight back, why the **** did she run into the basement of all places?? Why didn't she break a window and run??

...I just realised that I hadn’t actually said my spoiler thoughts were for Greta ......so I’ve just amended that post but basically...very similar to you, Niamh...

...it felt as though there wasn’t anything new as such in that it felt pretty predictable but I really liked it anyway and found myself screaming at the TV like a looney...especially the bit when Frances escaped and she was just running around the house and ughhhhh, for goodness sakes GET OUT and my OH was saying, but she can’t get out, she can’t find a key 🔑...also how was she still attacking at the end when she’d been drugged...had she used an anti thing and we didn’t see that...she was the looniest of loonies anyway and it was a very tense film....

...I watched Psycho last night and...

...I did really enjoy it but because I watched quite late and because (for me, I’d had a busy day of less restrictions etc and socialising and also because I wake up early etc....)...I fell asleep for the shower part...which is obviously the most iconic bit of the whole movie...it is a scene though that I find quite unnerving so maybe it was a subconscious thing as well...it’s not that it’s really gory as such, it’s more the complete vulnerability...that added thing of being naked and in the shower, her absolute and total exposure and vulnerability...

...anyways, I have seen that bit before so I can fill in that blank and I did enjoy the whole film and ‘for its time as well’, it’s an incredibly creepy movie and Norman Bates is an incredibly creepy and disturbed guy...a good recommendation, Daniel...a very good watch...

...yeah that’s cool, you can’t force that sort of thing when you don’t feel the vibe because then you can just wander off in your thoughts and not give it the attention anyway...although they’re not ‘classic’ as such, I’ve really enjoyed searching out newer movies that I haven’t seen before because I’ve realised how many good ones that I’ve overlooked...

..okay, so two completely different movies and I was so absorbed by both...

...Eighth Grade...

...I loved it.....Elsie Fisher as Kayla, what a gorgeous actress and I thought that Josh Hamilton as her dad as well was perfect as the parent who so much adored her ...it was terrifying to see those ‘shooter’ drills and how every day that thought is for children to the point when it has somehow become an exciting thought...rather than having a drill, let’s have a real shooting...I mean, just horrendous ...the USA gun laws are just so screwed...I was glad in the end that she didn’t give in to removing her shirt, that she kept who she was ...but I fear that it might be different for so many also...anyway, Kayla said no, I don’t feel comfortable and that was wonderful to see...

...U Want Me to Kill Him?....

...wow, I hadn’t known this story at all and yet it was such a huge story apparently...there isn’t a huge amount to google other than what we saw in the movie, I think because of the ages of the boys...that little bit at the end when ‘John’ was talking to the girl and showed her his scar etc...I’m presuming that wasn’t a real bit ...I mean, the whole thing was terrifying, how Mark became part of John’s world and (...as blunt as this sounds...)...why John didn’t take his life in a more simplistic way that wouldn’t have involved it all ...but then that was the point wasn’t it ...I was just left wondering how healthy a mind he would have now but we’ll never know...and how will Mark ever trust again...what an incredible story for every wrong reason we can think...

I was really tired last night so I didn't watch any films, I'm going to put Eighth Grade on at lunchtime and I'll watch the other one tonight because Gavin would probably watch that one

...he might enjoy Eighth Grade as well, I wasn’t sure that it would be my OH’s thing but it so was....he was completely absorbed with both movies...I was tired as well actually and probably shouldn’t have binged them both but I just about managed to stay awake...(...I think......)...

....ooooo, that’s difficult...they’re so completely different...Eighth Grade is an excellent ‘coming of age’ take, it’s so well done and for some reason it had a little ‘My Girl’ aspect to it for me...but yet, completely different as well....

...U Want Me To Kill Him?...is a true story that was apparently huge but I completely missed it and it’s fairly WOW all of the way through...it’ll really get your thoughts going about internet, I think ....

...U Want Me To Kill him, well hold you spellbound so I guess that one...but both excellent....

I'll stick to my plan so and watch Eight Grade at lunchtime and the other later because we'll probably only watch one film tonight
