So why didn't the Chancellor give his speech at 3.30.
Starmer held it all up, Joey
with his urgent question
I'm surprised at that from you.
I said why didn't the Chancellor speak then Truss answer afterwards.
Mordaunt said she couldn't be there today yet now is.
Starmer's question was to her not Mordaunt.
So why couldn't it be asked WHEN she was there.
Why can't she be forced to in fact answer it NOW.
Since she's now just sitting there looking like a ventriloquists dummy.

Sorry arista but I respectfully think that's likely nonsense.
Look at her!!!
Why could she not answer the question.
Taking everyone for fools when she's really the prize fool.
What's the point of her even being there NOW.
You seem very sadly misguided in your admiration for hopeless Truss.

Because respect for both PM and Opposition leader should work both ways.
That's why.
Plus when the Speaker allows the opposition leader's question, it's really the duty of the PM to be there.

Fine arista.
I'm getting.nowhere, have it your way.
No point in dragging my point on.
So the Speaker should have got her to be there earlier Wednesday to answer the oppsition leader's question then.
Rather than waste the time today.
Then this speaker in my view is useless.
I hope Starmer is advised to ask her the question again on Wednesday PMQs.
IF that is she even goes there for that.

costs fell on Monday,
as investors welcomed the announcement
by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt of the reversal
of most of the mini-budget tax measures.
Sterling extended gains against the dollar,
and is trading above $1.14.
The news also saw the interest rate - or yield - on
UK government bonds fall,

I liked Mordaunt but honestly have any of them any integrity left.
Surprised Mordaunt is deceitfully defending Truss.
Truss should be there, she isn't.
So she shouldn't be PM a moment longer than it takes to get rid of her.
Sadly to the public, Mordaunt now too will likely be seen as another likely spent force.
This is awful really.
They are humiliating themselves as well as really insulting voters and the public too.
Very disappointed with Mordaunt's display here too now.
it's a farce. When a PM can't answer an urgent question about their own government, they just hasten their own departure. She is PM but she now has no authority, that is unsustainable

Most of the MS media are of the right, so they can't actually be honest about what is happening because they agreed with pretty much all of it, as I showed with the Oakeshott and Farage examples a couple of pages ago.

I still don't believe these polls.
I can't see the Cons down in the lower 20s.
I think more likely polling of Con 27/28 with Labour in the lower to mid 40s.
Substantial leads but not the 20+ ones.
Although IF I was wrong on that I'd be very pleased.
Do you think the current polling is right bots.

i think its comfortably over 30 and Truss has just said that she will be leading the tories into the next election  I never thought it was going to go well with truss, but i couldn't have predicted all this in a million years
Liz Truss has insisted she will lead the Tories into the next general election, despite U-turns leaving her battling to salvage her authority.
The PM apologised for making mistakes, after the new chancellor Jeremy Hunt junked almost all of her tax-cutting plans to stabilise market turmoil.
She added her month-old premiership "hasn't been perfect," but she had "fixed" mistakes.
And she said it would have been "irresponsible" not to change course.
In an interview with the BBC, she said she was still committed to boosting UK economic growth, but acknowledged it would now take longer to achieve.
"I remain committed to the vision, but we will have to deliver that in a different way," she said.

That would carry more weight had she not come to parliament at all .
What was the point of her there with Hunt.
She neither said or did NOTHING.
No appearance for an urgent question to the Prime Minister from the Opposition leader.
She made NO contribution whatsoever to the Chancellor's statement.
She is supposed to be the leader of the Con Party and leader of the UK.
Yesterday she was more like a spectator on serious issues.
It's said Margaret Thatcher only slept for 5 to 6 hours possibly.
Truss is in the position of the highest office in the land.
I'm more concerned for those with extra mortgages to find, who can't sleep thinking how they keep their homes and provide adequately for their families.
Her apology now for adding to their already intense stress comes across as a forced and hollow one.
She's an absolute disgrace and hopeless.
I haven't an ounce of sympathy for Truss, she should NEVER have been even thought of as a PM, and certainly never elected by Con party members to become PM.
The astonishing thing is that the tories are deeply unpopular now, before they have announced the £40 billion cuts to public services in a couple of weeks. This is only just beginning

Of course.
IF, she and Hunt do this then it must surely be the final nail in this government's coffin.
AND ...... it should be too.
i will be voting labour at the next election .... there's something i thought i would never say
The thing is Hunt frames these cuts now as absolutely necessary and unavoidable, it's just being 'responsible'. Yet nothing on this scale was talked about until now - literally less than a week ago Truss said there'd be no cuts to public spending. I know Boris planned to shrink the civil service but nothing compared to the cuts being talked about now. Why should anyone believe that this is the only way to do things and why should anyone embrace it when times are bad enough as it is

The BoE spent billions propping up pension funds for 2 weeks. Thats why we now need cuts on the scale we do now. This is all as a direct result of Truss and Kwasi ... and she is still PM and the tories are still in power

I'm still fairly sure that couldn't be the case though.

It could be difficult for Starmer as he has to get the tone just right
For Labours interests, I think he should relax and go easy on her in order to leave her maybe in place a bit longer.
As really she has to stand up today and give assurances to the total opposite of near ALL she said she was committed to last week.
A farce and even ridiculous in itself.
However for the Country, this waste of political space needs exposing for how hopeless she really is.
So he maybe should really go for it today.
I agree he has to get the tone right however.
Probably best to go through all she stated was right and what she was committed to just 7 days ago.
Which now is near all nonsense and reversed.
He could go on the rumours of the triple lock re pensions.
However all he will get there probably is ' wait for the Chancellor on the 31st'
However it's a strong issue which she must still have a view on as PM.
I laughed this morning when James ( not so) Cleverley
Said that in previous PMQs Truss had been shown to be on top of her brief.
What brief was that ????
Cleverley is a lying twat. The way he was wriggling this morning was laughable and he is anything but clever

It was because Boris lied to parliament that i wanted him to go and Truss needs to do the same. I have voted Labour in the past Joey.
My last three votes have gone to the Tories.
I look at the local candidates first, depending on who I trust the most to make my decision.
But we have to look at the bigger picture when it comes down to a general election and I could not vote for the government as it stands today.
Since Truss came in she has caused absolute havoc with the lives of people in this country, the mortgage rates and rent hikes won’t go away just because she thinks saying sorry will be ok.
Reversing all the tax cuts etc won’t change a lot in the long run.

With Sunak the last weeks of dismal events wouldn't have likely happened.

To hold onto her Ministerial position and salary she'd never have resigned no matter what he did or how bad Johnson was or got to.
Even when promoting a sexual predator like Pincher.

I couldn't care what Kemi Badenoch or other Cabinet Ministers say.
They are on an act of deceit to the Country saying they suppport the Prime Minister.
There are those still in Cabinet who also declared their so called firm support for Johnson until he was OUT.
They go with the wind not where they should be going or really get to.
This PM has sacked her Chancellor for doing ALL she wanted and told him to.
Plus she's lost her Home secretary.
Of course Cabinet Ministers will say they support Truss, they don't know if they could hold their ministerial positions under any further NEW leader.
This is shocking for the Country that we've now had in the last year alone now 2 Con leaders, ( when gross Truss finally does go), who should have been forced out or gone long before they did go.
It's like a soap opera shambolic farce now, nothing like a competent in any way government.

To yesterday, Kevin O'Sullivan was on Talk TV saying Truss must go. Unbelieveable. :joker:
the number of tory mps publicly calling for her to resign goes up by the minute

If they call a general now...yes. I fear they will run out the clock till 2024 and due to Labour's lack of a spine, they might lose with Labour gaining a slim majority.
CAll a General now so Tories get wiped out in the commons.:laugh:

The pressure to call an election will be enormous. No way they can go 2 years, the max they will get away with is a year
Liz Truss will be entitled to claim up to £115,000 per year from the taxpayer for the rest of her life once she leaves office, despite likely being one of the shortest-serving prime ministers in history.
