Exactly
The conservatives need to be BOOTED out ,12 years we've put up with their garbage & their false promises . Things have gotten so terrible now ... It's utter embarrassment .

She was always going to be a disaster, i just can't fathom how she won the leadership election

I called it before she got made PM - https://www.thisisbigbrother.com/forums/showpost.php?p=11192331&postcount=967

The problem is what she was proposing - low tax, smaller state - is just not where the country's head space is at this point in time, after two years of the pandemic and everything else.

I said also back then that the system they used for electing a new leader (and Prime Minister) was wrong - should have only been MPs that made the decision.

People who join political parties are ideological - in the case of Conservatives they want a smaller state. The general public however is mostly pragmatic - they just want whatever works to be done, and MPs represent the people who elect them.

It is absolutely beyond belief the Country face the farce of the Cons allowing a wholly deceitful, lying rulebreaker and lawbreaker to even have the chance to come back.

His deceit and support for undesirables like sexual predators and other rulebreakers in his circle is how the Cons fell into disarray in the first place.

Just when you think surely the Cons have learned something and won't let the farce get even more damagingly farcical and WRONG.

It seems they maybe haven't learned anything and it can get even worse.

The Con members have to be excluded from this in my view.
What a chaotic mess.

Johnson was the start of the chaos by his own creation of it.

Well it appears there are a growing number of Con MPs who if Johnson does get back.
That they'd leave the Con whip and sit as Independents and some may even cross the floor.

So if the Cons really want further farce and Party and political chaos continuing, all they need to do is have the creep Johnson back.

His plummeting poll ratings and a strengthening opposition lead was part too of why he was turfed out.
If they want all the old mess and rulebreaking misleading and deceit.
Then yeah, get him back.

So much for a REALLY fresh start for and cleaning the Con Party and politics up.
No way does or CAN that happen with the odious creep Johnson.

It's Johnson who promoted him to be a Con party whip.
Doesn't matter what Pincher is now.

It was by Johnson's judgement he got to higher status.

i think its the end of the tory party as we know it. Even without Boris back they were going to implode, the fighting during the last vote shows where the party is. If Boris wins, all the Rishi supporters will make it as difficult as possible for the government to do anything.

I don't think Boris cares if people resign the whip, because he got shot of loads before the last election and won, and he will think he can do the same again. The only thing it will do is hasten a GE, but he is so confident in his election winning capability that wont phase him at all

Interesting read that bots.
I agree too.

My Party's Labour but I know the importance of as strong government as can be with a strong opposition in place too.
Whichever party is in one or the other.

I can't see either with Johnson all I can see is a return to the sick pantomime scenario of at least over a year and a half ago again.

Once Johnson was OUT, I hoped for a better politics, with more consensus and a really fresh new beginning.
It didn't happen with Truss.

However now looking at any growing number in the Con party even considering looking backwards and not forward is desperately sad.

Imagine were Labour to even think of bringing back Corbyn.
The outcry from Cons and the media would be relentless and suffocating.

joeysteele
21-10-2022, 09:44 AM
There were various polls in July where Labour was more like 7 to 9% ahead .
Plus Johnson's approval rating had crashed strongly from May onwards.

Yougov had smaller leads for Labour.

I don't and never will believe the Cons could be on or below 20%

I haven't a clue what methodology pollsters are using at present but I don't think any party is or could be on or over 50% of votes for election.

That was never acheived even just from the 1900s starting.
Never ever.

At a time post war even when Labour and the Cons were taking around 95% of the votes cast between them.

To even think of bringing the odious, deceitful and deliberately misleading Johnson back would be an insult to the vast majority of the voters.
To even allow him to would be an insult to the vast majority of responsible not blinkered voters.

He and Truss must be the worst ever Prime Ministers the UK has had in modern democracy periods.

The fact the equally odious Rees-Mogg and Dorries support him speaks volumes.
The UK under this shambles of a government and the present Con party, really does look like it is likely losing its mind.

I still however don't believe the current polls.

Joey, i think with that lead in the polls it would take labour back to the position they were in when Tony Blair won. When put in that context, it seems perfectly realistic to me.

Whether the polls are are still so far apart come election time is a different thing, but the economy isnt going to fix itself in 2 years, striking workers arent going to get an acceptable pay rise in that time, the tory party isn't going to become united etc etc etc

I hear all you're saying bots.
All I know is in the election Blair won.
Labour only had around 44% and the Cons around 30%

Starmer has nothing of the charisma Blair had.
Well others call it charisma I wouldn't.

Yes however on those figures Blair won a 179 overall majority.
Repeated more or less in 2001.

That kind of lead would satisfy me.
Because the larger the majority the more it seems PMs and government increase any arrogance they have already.

I'm obviously not a Con.

Of the 3 who it seems possibly may be the runners.

Obviously Johnson I would never support that odious creep for anything in fact.
He shouldn't be in any elected office.
(The candidate who will just bring even more controversy and sickening questionable behaviour yet again to the Con party).

Sunak, I think he could turn out to be the bigger threat to Labour actually because of the credibility he's gained after his prediction of how devastating the policies of Truss would be.
( The safer candidate).

Mordaunt, I like her and while she's okay in speeches she falls short when scrutinised more deeply.
In campaigning she'd be more like Mrs May sadly.
(The more a risk candidate).

If I was a Con the one I'd think would do better to start to turn things around would be Sunak.

Sunak has a lot in the party that want to see him fail, and would throw him under a bus in an instant, the same would be true of boris if he actually gets enough noms, and i'm not convinced he will get them, so penny is the more likely to listen to people and take advice ... in my opinion, may didnt reach out to mp's for advice, she kept to her own 2 unelected advisors.

Incredible. Farage claims people cant get on the housing ladder due to immigrants.:conf::conf:

This is true head scratcher. Can anyone explain cuz I dont see the connection.

When did we become this country? Where the Prime Minister is cheered for saying the 'Juries out' regarding her thoughts on Macron - who at the time she hadnt even met as Prime Minister. Where the Home secretary's dream to watch people be deported. When did it get this bad?

I didn't agree with Farage on the EU or immigration.
However a lot of social policies I could have.

I fully now support electoral reform and even the Labour conference voted for it too.
However Starmer still needs a lot of convincing sadly but we're getting there.
Slowly.

If Boris wins, he will be partying all the way to Christmas and New Year's Eve. :p

I hope his next party amounts to more than his last one which was basically half a sandwich and a glass of lemonade in his own back garden .. and some wanted him flogged for that …

Boris may be a draw to the tory party membership, but he has dropped significantly to everyone else across the country. It won't be as big a loss as it would be with truss, but the tories will still lose .... and deserve it

he takes over

i'm thinking that Sunak might not run and give his votes to Penny. She stands a better chance of beating Boris when it goes out to the membership

He HAD it but he threw it away when he thought it acceptable to party while others couldn't attend funerals, or visit dying relatives in hospital.

He threw away everything he won. Now he has nothing, except a selfish desire to be PM again.

yes he failed.

But now we are where we are
this weekend.

No General Election until Jan 2025

So the Legal Mandate is Johnson
again

If anyone wants to understand how media propaganda works, read Aristas posts. Few days ago he was dead set against BJ, but after a couple of days of GB news spewing conformist nonsense about a legal mandate, Arista repeats verbatim without any thought.

Former Brexit minister David Frost is backing Rishi Sunak to be the next prime minister.

Also,

Former health secretary Matt Hancock has urged both Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak to work together in the national interest and called on the former prime minister to back his apparent rival to lead the country.

The West Suffolk MP - who was health secretary under Johnson - is backing former Chancellor Sunak, but urged the pair to "talk to each other".

Hancock tells BBC Radio Suffolk that co-operation is needed to bring "stable leadership" during a time of economic and political instability.

"We need to all come together and we need to deliver for the country," he adds.

Asked if he thought a deal between the pair possible, Hancock says it would be "superb and strongly in the national interest" for his former boss to get behind Sunak.
