Won’t he lose the chance of an amazing signing on fee ??

Van de ven to Liverpool rumours.
Won’t he lose the chance of an amazing signing on fee ??
He’s a free agent in the summer .
I dunno, i just help Chelsea come in with a big bid, we desperately need defenders
Strange to hear Oliver Glasner say that [emoji599] Marc Guehi is OUT from Palace squad this weekend… plus Guehi is close to closing a deal .
“His move is at final stages”, Glasner says .. but added that he couldn’t confirm which club !!
That sounds ominous and not as certain as everyone was saying ..
Source - TalkSport news 5pm today
Apparently Liam Rosenior tried 8 different combinations at the back in the match against Arsenal !!

Heitinga as assistant coach to Thomas Frank at Spurs
Chelsea are apparently close to signing a CB plus also looking at getting a midfielder or forward as well
I can partly see why Guehli chose ManC as he would’ve have to change positions and play right side CB at Liverpool
Two strong starting elevens
Oddly ManU seem to have a stronger bench with the option of bringing on Cunha , Sesko and Mount ??

Only Haaland and Foden were involved in shooting on goal practice with Semenyo taking an occasional shot in between .

Maguire playing the right side CB position
Can’t say I recall him playing there ..

0-1 Barcelona
Fermin Lopez
0-1 Barcelona
Fermin Lopez
Barca are just a team of uber talented kids plus FDJ tonight - without Rafinha and Lewandowski
Normally its 7 or 8 youngsters plus 3 or 4 more mature guys
0-1 Barcelona
Fermin Lopez
Disallowed by VAR
yawn
Lamine Yamal is probably the best player in world football already and he’s consistently improving !!
He’s been on the scene around two years and still only 18 ..
Around 120 top flight appearances for Barca and Spain and starred in international competitions
Some of his play tonight is pure Messi v!!
27 minutes in
Already 4 goals ruled out by VAR
We are talking millimetres for 3 of them ffs
Think we’re being screwed over tonight
Just watching Barca
28 minutes in 3 goals disallowed by fcuking VAR
Then they scored in 32 minutes
I sometimes think we get screwed by refs
One of our goals was scratched due to a foul in the build up
The exact same thing just happened - they highlighted the foul but ref allowed their goal
No consistency
Then
Penalty to Barca
Cancelled by VAR
WTF ?
Get Afcon on Zizu. Been pure carnage
Get Afcon on Zizu. Been pure carnage
I have recorded it for another time
Ta though
so its not just the PL that has issues with VAR
so its not just the PL that has issues with VAR
Oddly enough Spanish VAR is generally good
Far , far faster and they rarely make the type of gaffs ours do ( on a regular basis)
Last night was just annoying as they were ruling out goals for millimetres ..
The officiating of some of Real Madrid’s matches leaves a lot to be desired though

The offside rule under VAR should be made simple imo.
- If your foot is in an offside position, then the goal doesn't stand.
Any other body part being offside shouldn't matter in my view.

The problem with that is you'll just have strikers positioned right by the goalkeeper.
It'd take the strategy out of the matches.
there isn't a problem with the rule. It's supposed to be automatic detection, and its not
Crazy antics last night !!

Raheen Sterling has turned down the chance join Napoli as he wants to remain in London
His first choice is Fulham according to reports
Alex Scott
“ as a player you always want to play against the other greatest players “
Supposedly Arsenal are not opposed to Nwaneri going on loan to Marseille till the emd end of the season
Also hearing that Chelsea are looking to offload Enzo Fernández in the summer !!
WTF !!!
In other news
Gabriel Jesus is in negotiations to extend his contract and he’s assured the club that he will help improve Viktor Gyökeres as a player
Soooo
Arsenal have made an excellent start against Inter Milan - they are looking extremely dangerous already
Wow
Jesus puts Arsenal in front with a poacher’s goal
1:0 to the Arsenal [emoji445]
Arsenal’s 400th goal in European football
Captain Romero has put Spurs one up against Dortmund …
Their manager is a dead man walking supposedly
Inter Milan equalise with an absolute screamer of a goal
1:1
Real Madrid 2:0 up against Monaco
2 for Mbappe
Paying back a little of his £500,000 a week salary
Gabriel Jesus with his second goal of the night and another any goal poacher would be proud of
How is that not violent behaviour from Gastoni ?
Shoved Merino to the floor .. pushing one hand in Merino’s throat the other slightly lower
Milan’s Petar Sučić looks to be a proper player
Arsenal 3:1 up now
Fabulous strike from Gykores
Amazing pass from Martinelli in the build up
Haaland has one goal in his last 8 appearances ( all competitions) and that was a penalty
ManC lose again
Jack Grealish has apparently fractured his foot and could be out for months
So apparently the Canadian League are due to start trialing Arsene Wenger’s idea of clear daylight offsides in April ..
Supposedly the offside rule was brought in to stop strikers goal hanging not to disallow as many goals as is humanly possible
Palace’s Mateta has told the club that he wants OUT !!
Aston Villa apparently interested in him OR Tammy Abrams
ManU are apparently on the verge of rubber-stamping a drama series based on the club and it’s history.. apparently the makers of The Crown are on board
Will Eric Cantona play himself ?
I will NOT be watching
Maybe if they did one like Wrexham I’d be more interested
Manchester City's squad will refund the ticket costs for 374 supporters who travelled to Norway to witness their side's shock 3-1 Champions League defeat at Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday.
With the price of an away ticket for the game costing about £25, City players will put together a total of £9,357 towards paying back those who made the trip to the Arctic circle.
Speaking on behalf of the squad, City's captaincy group of Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Erling Haaland said: "Our supporters mean everything to us.
"We know the sacrifice that our fans make when they travel across the world to support us home and away and we will never take it for granted. They are the best fans in the world.
"We also recognise that it was a lot of travelling for the fans who supported us in the freezing cold throughout a difficult evening for us on the pitch.
"Covering the cost of these tickets for the fans who travelled to Bodo is the least we can do."
Is this correct ??
Woltemade has scored only 3 times in his last 19 games ?
Could be Champions League games .
Still horrendous though
Mason Greenwood plays tonight !
Supposedly he’s the best player in France not playing for PSG
I don’t recall him being that special ?
Strong Liverpool team
Hopefully they can go on an amazing run of form starting tonight and finish the season wellhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20260121/78efd2121073900abe849441613a138e.jpg
Mmm good result for Liverpool
Haven’t watched the game as yet but they were apparently back to their best form
Wirtz was great again and even Kerkez was supposedly excellent.
Ominous….
Still think it’s crazy that under investigation Manc can spend over 200 million in this window and Villa who have wealthier owners are scraping around looking to spend about £20 million

City are a much bigger club, they have huge revenue and they have also sold a lot of players and received good money. They also pick up very good players for a good price. It's a well run club

Given the 115 investigated offences still pending I expected then to be prevented from buying anyone UNTIL they were in the clear
That would protect the other clubs and ensure that City didn’t continue to delay and disrupt the proceedings

innocent until proven guilty. What you seem to be ignoring is that every other club in the premier league has been cooking the books/
FFP has a primary function, to ensure that the club does not go bust. Everton and forrest were very close to going out of business so they received sanctions. Man City is a very well run club that is in no danger of going bust so FFP in terms of sanctions, is just not applicable. That's why everything has gone silent

Apparently the favoured strategy used by mega wealthy companies to fight court cases - is to delay and postpone and complicate the case in question
- ManC have the advantage of being able to use all those tactics times 115 resulting in an incredibly long legal battle … the key result being unbelievably high costs increasing on a daily basis .. but of course that suits ManC far more than the Premier League.
City are hoping that the Premier League will get to the point where they cut their losses and drop the case
Even if and when a final verdict is reached, that may not signal the end of the process. The commission will initially rule only on matters of liability - with a separate sanctions hearing to follow should any of the charges be upheld.
City would also retain the right to appeal any guilty verdict or punishment imposed.
Aston Villa play today against Fenerbahce
17.45pm
Interestingly they will be up against Asensio and ex Arsenal guy Mattéo Guendouzi
I was so disappointed when Arsenal dispensed with Guendouzi ..
Jeees such is the strength of Arsenal’s squad they have loaned out Ethan Nwaneri to Marsaille

Man City have the wealth of a country to back their legal case. Most of the charges are duplicates of the same type of thing. None of the charges suggest that Man City is going out of business, which, i repeat, is the purpose of the rules in the first place.

Interesting take on things
::
The 115 charges have been broken down to five different categories.
• 54x Failure to provide accurate financial information 2009-10 to 2017-18.
• 14x Failure to provide accurate details for player and manager payments from 2009-10 to 2017-18.
• 5x Failure to comply with Uefa's rules including Financial Fair Play (FFP) 2013-14 to 2017-18.
• 7x Breaching Premier League's PSR rules 2015-16 to 2017-18.
• 35x Failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations December 2018 - Feb 2023.
The lengths City went to in their defence appear to have prolonged matters.
"The legal teams involved... I'm pretty sure the Premier League has never come up against anything like this," said Yasin Patel - barrister at Church Court Chambers.

Crazy halftime score though
West Ham 3 : Sunderland 0
If the result stands then West Ham move to within two points of Nottingham Forest !!
Crazy thing is if Sunderland had won they would’ve been in 4th place
Interesting to note that Nuno Espírito Santo is now hunting down his former club Forest !

It's the fact that the opposing players have to recover from being booted upside down by all the Newcastle cloggers
PSG players will be cracking open the champagne after learning that both Joelinton and Schar will not kicking them from pillar to post tonight neither will the nearly as aggressive Bruno Guimaraes ..
no, newcastle are like fairies dancing, they couldn't possibly hurt anyone
That’s ridiculous .. Joelinton left two players writhing in pain at the weekend after hacking them down next to each other near the corner flag .
I don’t know what the officials are thinking when they ref Newcastle games as they have 5 or 6 players sometimes 7 who regularly leave their foot into just about every challenge .. you will see opposition players limping around all over the place all throughout the match and I have no idea how Joelinton doesn’t get sent off each game as he doesn’t even foul stealthily .

Fifa president Gianni Infantino has apologised for controversial comments he made about British football supporters which were criticised by fan groups.
At the World Economic Forum in Switzerland last month, Infantino said it was "really special" no British nationals were arrested during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Amid concerns over the cost to attend matches at this summer's 2026 World Cup, the Football Supporters' Association (FSA) responded by saying the Swiss-Italian should "concentrate on making cheap tickets" as opposed to "making cheap jokes about our fans".
In an interview with Sky News, external, Infantino said his comments were "meant to be more of a light-hearted remark" to highlight how the Qatar tournament "was a celebration" and "a peaceful event".
As he said sorry to fans from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the first instance, the 55-year-old said it was "not my intention" to cause offence to them.
Infantino added he was a "huge fan of English football" and had been wrong to say English people "just go and riot around the world" at football matches as fans, referring to them as "criminals" instead.

Tbf, I do largely agree with him.
The Officials are so bad nowadays, just look at the Southampton equaliser against us at St. Andrews as the prime example of the Referee standards dropping off a cliff in this country.
zkBqhSh3ZIY
4:01 mark for when the incident happens.
Now I do know the obvious defence that will be at play here, which is that the Blues defence should've done better, which is 100% true.
However it is also true that Refereeing standards have dropped, and that he should be trying to position himself away from where the action is at all times, and something that every decent Referee is able to do every single week for decades of their career. And in this particular case it did end up giving Southampton a point that they wouldn't have earned, and might be the difference in helping them nick 6th place at the end of the season.
Basically both points can be true when it comes to that game, and I do feel that if this was a Sport like say... Rugby, I feel like people would be agreeing with that, but because it's Football having such amateur officiating some people decide to get defensive over the problems that the officiating standard currently is at.
Imo we should never be seeing a Referee in the second tier of English Football impeding players which then leads to an altered result, I will always stand by that and that's if it even benefits Blues in the future, because first and foremost I'm a Football fan and I want what's best for the game.
Basically Ian Holloway has my pity, because the wider Football audience doesn't like to hear dissent about the incompetent idiots that currently run the Sport.

The guy is probably still crying that he isn't ginger anymore.

Henry Winter writes:
“Football is a sport, not a laboratory experiment. If the stewards of the game continue to prioritize technical perfection over the spirit of the law, they risk alienating the very people who make the game what it is: the fans. It is time to bring the “Beautiful Game” back to its roots.”
This “urgent call for reform” email to IFAB will strike a chord with many fans. Broadcaster Dave Johnson voices the views of supporters' "growing frustration - and frankly, disillusionment” – with the current application of VAR in offside decisions. “While the pursuit of accuracy is noble, the current “microscopic” approach has reached a breaking point that threatens the entertainment value and emotional integrity of the sport”.
“Football is a game of flow and spontaneous joy. Currently, that joy is being strangled by lengthy delays that often exceed three or four minutes, only to result in goals being overturned by the width of a shirt seam or a “toenail”.
“The recent controversy involving Fulham and Manchester United, where a goal was disallowed because a player’s elbow was deemed offside, serves as a perfect indictment of the current system. When the “clear and obvious” error mandate is ignored in favour of sub-pixelgeometry, the game moves away from fairness and into the realm of pedantry”.
Johnson outlines “key areas of concern”. 1. Spirit of the Law: “The offside rule was designed to prevent goal-hanging, not to penalise an attacker for having a larger shoe size than a defender”. 2. Fan experience: “Supporters in stadiums are left in a vacuum of silence, unable to celebrate goals, waiting for a verdict that often feels disconnected from the physical reality of the play”. 3. Margin of Error: “Current frame rates and the manual placement of lines do not account for the biological reality of movement, making “millimeter-perfect” decisions scientifically questionable”.
He seeks “fundamental changes to how offside is officiated”. 1. "the serious consideration of Arsène Wenger’s proposal. By requiring a clear gap of “daylight” between the attacker and defender, the advantage is returned to the attacking side, encouraging goals and reducing microscopic disputes”.
2. “Margin of Error” buffer: “Implementing a 5-10cm “tolerance zone” where the on-field decision stands unless the infraction is undeniable”. 3 Time limit on reviews: “If a decision cannot be reached within 60 seconds, the original on-field call should be upheld. This ensures that only “clear and obvious” errors are corrected”.
Johnson concludes his email by looking forward to “seeing these issues addressed in upcoming technical sub-committee meetings”. Good luck.

the most frustrating thing as a fan who goes to lots of games is the sitting waiting in the ground for ages not knowing anything at all and we made the fecking effort to turn up. At my last game the game start was delayed by 5 mins as the VAR monitors at the stadium did not work. So the ref just had ear contact. Of course no one at the ground bothered to announce anything and we only found out from people at home watching TV telling us

Chelsea are perfectly capable of beating Arsenal. If Arsenal rely on set pieces for goals, Chelsea can do it.

Here here, I have an idea why don't we lend illegal immigrants money to set themselves up here and get a job, then tax them to the hilt when they start to pay back its what we do to our students after all?

I like Karen Carney and Laura Woods tbf.
Lucy Ward I'm not really too fussed about either way tbh.
Laura is nice enough and very likeable- she was great when she worked on TalkSport years ago. ..
All that said … she’s there to prompt , ask questions and drive the direction of things - she’s not giving supposed expert criticism on footballing matters ..
Now that’s what enrages me .. people like Karen Carney and Leanne Sanderson talking like they’re legendary players whilst criticising elite premier league players .
( when they themselves played semi
Pro football at a level far below non league football )
It’s madness to think that so many women are working on men’s games as well as the hundreds of women’s games when women’s games feature just women pundits.. commentators ( plus Ian Wright for high profile games)
How did it get to this ..
The one thing I agreed with Eni Aluko was her wish to see Women’s games with female hosts/ commentators / pundits …
Then go back to only men working on men’s matches .

How is this acceptable ?
Granted with Lucy Ward , Karen Carney and Fara Williams working this game it HOPEFULLY means they won’t be able to ruin the Spurs v Arsenal game later !!

One thing many ex players say is that the officials get conned so easily yet miss definite fouls

It is a possibility I guess - especially if they win all their remaining games ( or maybe dropping just a few points)
Arsenal and ManC are both a tad unpredictable and they also have to play each other so someone is dropping points there
