Looks shocking tbh
Also featured is women’s player of the year .. the United keeper who was at the centre of that shirt name debacle - thoughts on her performance thus far !?

Rangers have been beset with chronic injury this season too....
the minute you get a couple of injuries, it puts pressure on the rest of the squad, some of them then become injured adding even more pressure to the remainder of the squad. Add on the playing every 3 days and the big fact that they have started adding on 15 minutes to the length of every game, and it's no great surprise that injuries have gone through the roof.
Extending the time of every game just wasn't thought through

Kudus's goal against Man City was also very good imo.
Caicedo's was reminiscent of Beckham's goal against Wimbledon, which I mean that as a compliment.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Portugal's Euro 2024 squad ahead of his 11th major tournament.

I know I keep moaning on the Football section lately.
But wtf! At what I think was Joe Cole's comment after the match, saying "that's what they call love."
What has happened to Humanity that this is actually deemed acceptable dialogue in what's meant to be a discussion about Atalanta winning the Europa League?
I know that Football Shows have always had the odd daft comment here or there, but the last few years have brought in a whole new world of lameness.

Southgate said the dreaded words.
They're paid to do a job, they either do it or they don't, and if they don't do it then they should face constructive criticism, it's part and parcel of any job out there.
These players should be receiving love from their family, friends, and the fans should preferably have the player's back if he is playing for their team.

in all fairness
Atalanta are a pretty strong team either, from the small place of Bergamo, a solid top 5 team in the Serie A against the bigger city teams from Rome, Turin, Milan
Lookman is a huge talent, could see him leaving for many millions soon i think
Koopmeiners also a amazing tough force in midfield
De Ketelaere back in his good old form, compared to his weak first year at AC Milan, this loan spell does him very good
Scamacca very important up front not just himself scoring goals but also creating scoring opportunities for other players
Kolasinac tough defender (i always liked him, even at Schalke, Arsenal)
Scalvini, a talented defender who is hyped up to be the next Bonucci, Chiellini
Gian Piero Gasperini, i have sympathies for him as well, finally winning a prize, in his 8 years at the club
was a good and enjoyable final, Leverkusen wasn't that bad, but Atalanta were consistently good on every position basically, also they did a good job in blocking Xhaka, Wirtz from getting in their usual strong form
so what not a treble, maybe a double still, on saturday vs Kaiserslautern the cup final
a party on sunday nevertheless ;)

not at all
some moments they just had some bad luck, other moments was proper defending by Atalanta
also where some players might be leaving, the team is quite attractive due to the CL group stage
Frimpong for 40 million probably
new goalkeeper i guess
i wouldn't sell Wirtz for less than 50 or 60 million, same goes for Tah and Andrich, no way these should leave on too low offers tbh
let's give Atalanta more praise than trashtalking on Leverkusen, its long due that they win a big trophy now anyway, idk what it is but they have some magic touch regarding talented youngsters, also Robin Gosens whom became a german international when he played over there too, while before that he was a unknown at heracles almelo
same with Hans Hateboer too (also wasn't from a top dutch team but PEC Zwolle i believe)
Harry Kane moved to Bayern to win trophies. 1 season later his manager is going to be the guy who got Burnley relegated from the premier league :joker:

There's honestly no justice in Football.
I could honestly out manage Rooney and Kompany in my sleep, yet they just keep getting offered jobs in big Leagues even though they can't manage for toffee.
And I don't mean it to be nasty (as Kompany seems like a decent guy tbf) but Rooney in particular can't take any responsibility for relegating teams (when it's his fault) and decides to blame the team instead for his failure at understanding the basics of Football tactics.
And listen, I'm no Pep Guardiola, but even I know that you need to do two things as a Football Manager.
1. Have a god damn midfield.
And 2. Play to your players strengths.
Rooney did neither, and couldn't accept that he did neither, therefore he hasn't learned anything positive from his time with us to then improve at Plymouth.
I don't know why I'm getting worked up, Plymouth isn't my team, if they want to get relegated that badly then go for it.

Kompany can only do any good when his team is exceptional for the League they're in, that imo isn't a good Manager.
I look at Thomas Frank or David Moyes as examples of Managers that can bring the best out of ordinary teams.
John Eustace last season for Blues when we were everyone's tip to get relegated, and he kept us up with games to spare.
They're good Managers imo, not someone that has to have the best team in the League.

Plus not every team can play Guardiola's style of Football.
That kind of thinking that every team is doing is killing the enjoyment of Football for me.
I remember growing up when Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho, Benitez, and Allardyce (to name a couple of controversial styles here) all had different ways of approaching the game.
And with Klopp gone next season, the Pep clones are only going to get worse in Football.
Kompany failed in the premier league because he couldn't adapt his tactics to the team they are playing. Arteta and Pep tweak their tactics every game, and that's why they continue to be successful. Kompany either doesn't know how to do that or is unwilling to do it. Either way, when you become predictable, the opposition will adapt their tactics to expose your weaknesses and that what will happen to Bayern

I actually was fine with Rooney until he tried to blame Blues for his own incompetence.
I mean Eustace, Mowbray, and Rowett all did better than him with the same squad and owners, but apparently it wasn't his fault that we couldn't even be competitive against Stoke at home.
He was a talented Footballer, but him commenting on Ten Hag's performance as Man Utd Manager is imo laughable when he couldn't even get Blues to win 3 matches under his tutelage.
And who has a shrill voice out of the women? They all tend to sound more masculine than the men to me.:joker:

They were pitchside and were practically shouting for some reason …. plus they were both waffling .
Like it or not it’s what women do - they talk more than guys - it’s a thing
They probably got even more carries away with the excitement of everything.
It doesn’t help that neither of them have any credibility given we have more idea if either if them were any good at football
( Note a few paragraphs on Wiki doesn’t give anyone footballing credibility .. we all respect the ex player pundits because we actually WITNESSED them playing at the highest level.. week after week , season after season !

Bellingham was playing at 16 for BCFC. Beckham didn't start playing for yernited until he was around 20, i think.
You need to find a player from a previous generation who also started playing at 16, if you want to find an equivalent match.

Getting back to the Euro squad …
Southgate has been speaking of Wharton in glowing terms this morning !!
Says he’s really impressed in training and played really well in the second half .
Plus his 100% pass completion rate was impressive and indeed vital .
I’m wondering if he has played himself into the squad .. maybe at the expense of Curtis Jones or even Gallagher ?
Thoughts
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
So who are the seven who will probably miss out ??
If Maguire goes .. then I wouldn’t take Dunk and I think Southgate thinks far too much of Maguire to omit him
That leaves Dunk , Trafford , Shaw , Jones missing out .
The other three … well Watkins showed nothing last night .. he couldn’t find space against a novice , experimental Bosnian defence.
I’d probably ditch Gordon, Branthwaite who’s inexperienced and who had a poor end to the season and Gueli who made some terrible passes out of defence last night .
Who do you see missing out ?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Given that Rooney , Lampard and Gerard who were all fabulous players all basically flopped in management .. which ex players do you see being a managerial success in the Premier League ??
Its rhe current topic on TalkSport and two names are being mentioned a lot
Michael Carrick and John Terry - i kinda agree with both. John Terry is actually going through the process.. the tried and trusted way of gaining all the experience through being backroom staff , reserve team manager .. assistant manager .
The only thing that may play against him arw the skeletons in his wardrobe (or is it cupboard ?)

Looks like a potential quid pro quo dropping both law suits. Hopefully the league stands strong.
it's all a big mess. There is good reason to have rules that stop clubs allowing big losses, but, apart from that, the rest is big business doing what they do.
The premier league want the big money owners, indeed it could be argued that they need them. Personally, I don't think Man U owners should be allowed to put the club in huge amounts of debt based on the future speculation that they will still be able to service their debt loans decades into the future, but the premier league allow it
The premier league was never meant to be an organisation whose prime function was to be a financial regulator, and that is what it's become (when it suits them)

Incidentally Gazza and Rooney were both unprofessional to their cost !
::::
We know all about Gazza and his indiscretions ..
Rooney
For, the feeling persists that Rooney could have eked more from his body. That might seem harsh, but the talent Rooney possessed dictates that his career should be measured against the highest standards.
And those standards are set by his former team-mate Ronaldo. Why? Well, there was, of course, a debate, roughly a decade ago, as to who was the better player. It seems almost laughable now. The debate becomes a little less laughable when it is crystallised down to who was the more talented player. It remains a debate with no definite answer. And the gulf in those two debates answers the question as to whether Rooney fulfilled his potential: the answer is no and by a distance.
The fact Rooney's most impressive showing in the international arena came at the Euros in 2004, when he was still an Everton player, demonstrates both the level of his potential at such a tender age and his inability to capitalise on it in the peak years of his career. Granted, there were mitigating factors, but his showings at international tournaments from that peak in Portugal were largely forgettable.
Alongside those mitigating circumstances, lies further context. Rooney, in this opinion, lived right on the edge of the guidelines, wavered at times and, as such, did not fulfil his incredible potential.
There are instances that add weight to the argument that Rooney had strayed outside these guidelines; like when he was dropped on New Year's Eve in 2011 for, what boss Sir Alex Ferguson saw as a "lethargic” showing in training following Christmas celebrations and in 2013, for the crucial Champions League second-leg tie against Real Madrid, he was once again jettisoned to the bench. Louis van Gaal also dropped him during his tenure. It is a failure of professionalism to be dropped for training indiscretions, and a failure that has not punctuated the careers of Ronaldo or Messi. Again this is not to say Rooney has not, did not and does not make huge sacrifices for his craft but has he made total sacrifice for his craft?

because Man U are moving to a system where the manager has next to no input on who is in the squad. It stops the squad being a mismatch of incompatible players who were favoured by a long list of previous managers.
It's a sensible approach if you don't intend to keep a manager long term

Southgate is gonna mess things up before we even set off .. I can feel it in my water ..
He’s gonna send home a couple of the strikers plus Liverpool’s fabulous, in form defender Jarell Quansah and keep those three injured, blooper prone defenders above

What the actual F*K. !!
Latest is Jack Grealish who’s been ditched along with Maddison !!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Southgate reportedly sending home Maguire , Kuansa and Branthwaite !!
So that leaves Walker , Stones ( unfit ) , Dunk ( useless) and Luke Shaw ( lingering hamstring problem) !!
Keystone Kops defence and discarding two if our super-talented guys ( Grealish and Maddison )
We have no chance of winning !

Who has missed out?
Jarrod Branthwaite
Harry Maguire
James Maddison
Jack Grealish
Jarrell Quansah
Curtis Jones
James Trafford
The Branthwaite omission is a bit suspect.
Luke Shaw will likely get injured again during the euros and be unavailable to play for united

Quansah has had a stand out season and I feel he deserved to be there over the likes of Dunk, but it could come back to bite Southgate if he now choices to change nationalities

Southgate has revealed Quansah is staying with the England squad and is on standby
Grealish didn't play much for Citeh this year absolutely no loss
He was just getting back to fitness though as was Maddison- both game changers .
Bowen’s final pass the other night was woeful plus he’s the 4th best in that position .

He’s a calculated risk apparently

Mind boggling decision given Dunk has been hapless the last few months and Guehi gave the ball away at least 3 times the other night and in dangerous situations

luke shaw didn't play when he was need in the last few games of the season, so he could be ready to play for england. There is a pretty good chance he will be injured again playing for england and then be unavailable to play for united for months. United pay his wages, it is all wrong
Apparently the German squad celebrated wildly after hearing that GREALISH had been culled- they had marked him as a major problem

Grealish needs to move from Man City if he wants to get back into the England team.
He hasn't settled at Man City, I think West Ham wouldn't be a bad move for him as they're a decent team, and it could build his confidence back up.
grealish has been useless in more england games than he has been useful.
It's not about individuals, it's about a coherent team and Southgate hasn't worked that out yet or he would have players known for their team play rather than their individual ability

Well it's a good thing that you said it first and not me, because nobody can accuse you of having an agenda against him because of him playing for Villa at one time, plus him also being a Villa fan.

you should give Koeman this advice though :skull:
him sticking with what he already knows (but has the mold on it): Daley Blind, Georginio Wijnaldum, rather than trying out something new

I bet those two end up being the best players !

There’s a story circulating suggesting that the senior players questioned Southgate as regards his decision to ditch Grealish .
They claimed they needed to know so they could explain the decision to the rest of the squad!!
Sounds like things aren’t quite as rosy as we are being led to believe!!

Both teams are in training as we speak ..
Interestingly Theo Walcot has apparently challenged Usain Bolt to a sprint race .. not 100m but more likely 40 to 60 metres !!
If anyone learns the result or sees a clip please let us know in this thread. !
My money is on Theo !!

if anyone questions his decisions they will be sent home.
Grealish has played about 2 full games all season, he has been crap. It wouldn't surprise me if city offload him over the next few weeks

the squad can be outwardly mystified while laughing on the inside. Grealish is a disruptive drunk

When in reality .. he was by far the most popular lad in the dressing room
Martin Keown ( of all people) said that he would have taken just for his positive influence with the others who maybe away for 3 weeks or so

Yeah, that never happened.
Yeah, that never happened.
Well it did !
One of Germany’s top soccer writer /reporter relayed the whole story on TalkSport . They had even done sessions in response to all the free kicks they expected him to win on his side of the pitch.

What do you want me to do with that? Firstly, Germán players aren't lining up to tell English journalists how weirded out they are by an English squad selection. Secondly, even that tiny sentence seems to be more about who is going instead of Grealish, and thirdly and finally, nothing in this miniscule amount of information indicates celebration.

That is what was reported
You have to read between the lines like most things
The German guy on TalkSport told what happened behind the scenes in the dressing room .. these guys pay good money for little snippets from back room staff.
Obviously the official story won’t include any possibly embarrassing detais

Moving on …
[emoji599]𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐈𝐍! | Tottenham Hotspur are ready to submit a £40M bid to Brentford for striker Ivan Toney.
[emoji3456]Spurs are preparing a package of personal terms for the forward, who scored four goals in 17 Premier League games after returning from a suspension that prevented him from featuring in the first half of the season.
