Erik Ten Hag will remain as manager of Manchester United following a post-season review by the club's board.

It is understood they are now talking to Ten Hag about extending his contract, which is about to enter its final season.

United instigated their review immediately after the FA Cup final.

Ten Hag went into the game against Manchester City at Wembley amid a backdrop of reports claiming he was going to be sacked no matter the outcome.

Instead, United's deserved 2-1 victory allowed the club hierarchy to approach the review in a more positive light.

It is understood what are being described as "constructive conversations" with Ten Hag have taken place around the outcome of the review.

All eventualities were considered and the clear preference was for the 54-year-old Dutchman to remain in charge.

Whilst I do agree with you on Ten Hag not being a Manager that is of the caliber of what Man Utd should be looking for, there has probably been three things assessed about Man Utd from INEOS perspective.

1. Can they get a Manager that's currently available, that is a better Manager than Ten Hag?

2. He did win the club another trophy this season, even if I personally am suspicious of how Man City had an off day, the day that Man Utd needed to qualify for a European competition.

But if we take it at face value, Ten Hag has won them two trophies, which is two more than what Solskjaer, Moyes, and Rangnick won them.

3. Last but certainly not least, is how many Managers can get the blame for the Man Utd players being lazy?

I just personally feel that if the club is nearly considering bringing Greenwood back, then Sancho speaking out of term a couple of times could at least warrant a final chance.

And Rooney did take a team that was the sixth best team in the League (as Eustace, Mowbray, and Rowett were all showing) and he sunk the team.

That has singlehandedly got to be the most incompetent thing that I have ever seen or heard about happening in any industry, and that includes some of the stuff that I hear about going on, on The Acolyte.

So it’s widely felt that one of England’s many problems is Declan Rice in that against Serbia aa soon as we go one up he has the tendency to drop back to make us more compact but it means we aren’t as much of a threat going forwards .. he also did that against Italy and Croatia apparently

Interestingly pundits rarely disagree with each other on these panels and the guys would nit DARE to contradict any of the female pundits but over the last few days I’ve noticed two female pundits actively disagreeing with a fellow (male) pundit ..
