Liverpool and Arsenal surrendering the title to Man City.
Unbelievable results today.
Far from over yet, the title race, but not only have the points swing been huge for City, but even the GD has shortened significantly.

That was garbage. Villa have done the double over Arsenal this season. Raya looking shaky in the latter stages. Haven't seen that since last December.
Advantage to City
I get that you werent very good for a long time but the Declan Rice money has been wisely spent its a shame the football hasnt improved.
I was at the City Ground for the Forest match and WHU were awful. I questioned how the hell they were 7th. I think, and its just an opinion, a different manager would play more expansive and attractive football. Look at how the Spurs fans have been encouraged simply by the witnessing better more attractive football. WHU could be the same
I predicted the football wouldn’t be as good / fluid .. Xhaka and Partey worked so well together with Odegard.
Guess Rice has made them tougher to beat but they’re no way as nice to watch this season
Nice to see Granit Xhaka is a key part of Bayer Levercuson’s success ..

There’s still a way to go
ManC seem to be extremely reliant ( over reliant in fact ) on Rodri .. who’s started to make a few mistakes of late plus he’s apparently stated that he’s tired

Man City aren't "extremely reliant" on any player, that's what makes them the machine they are. That's what makes them the best club team in Europe. And they have been for years now.

Yeah but we have tried that before with Pellegrini and we suffered for it. Things have unarguably been better under Moyes than any other manager in recent history. Bilic for one season is the only thing which comes close.
I could say more but I'm not in the mood to defend Moyes too much after only just getting home following that dismal defeat :skull:

Rodri is arguably City's most important player at the base of midfield
•The Spain international has been suspended on multiple occasions this season
•Man City are a pale imitation of themselves without Rodri
Rodri the key to City success in 2023-24
This season, Rodri has missed three Premier League games through suspension, all of which City have lost(1-2 at Wolves, 0-1 at Arsenal (https://en.as.com/soccer/why-has-mikel-arteta-been-banned-for-arsenals-game-against-aston-villa-n/) and 0-1 at Aston Villa). He also wasn’t in the squad for the Carabao Cup third round defeat to Newcastle United at the end
of September. All in all,
each of their last five reverses
have come without the Spain international.
Manchester City's most important player has been clear for quite some time now. It's not Ruben Dias, it's not Kevin De Bruyne and it's not even last season's top scorer Erling Haaland.
No, it's Rodri, the midfield enforcer who keeps the treble winners ticking.
Since making his debut for the Sky Blues in August 2019, Guardiola's men have lost seven of 17 Premier League (https://www.90min.com/leagues/premier-league) games in which Rodri hasn't featured. That means the all-conquering Man City have lost more than a third (41%) of the league games they have played without their midfield stalwart.

Foden has been their most important player overall this season. You claim to know football, yet you often say you don't think he's any good.
You can copy and paste them stats on him, and yes of course he's played a huge part, he's world class. But City always seem to find a way. I still don't think City will win the league. But on balance, no one is better than City as keeping the wheels in motion.
Atalanta probably did Liverpool a favour, if Liverpool go out, they only have the League to focus on. If Arsenal go out, likewise. Even if City go out of the CL, they've got the FA Cup to contend with.

madness
Tbf to Rangers and Arsenal, they both haven't lost a game for months on end.
They're both entitled to lose one match.
What's bad is how skewed both the Premier League and the SPFL are towards Man City and Celtic currently.
I mean Brendan Rodgers has really tried his best to make Rangers have a different title rival this season, but the investment in the other teams is too low to stop them, so when Rangers makes mistakes, Celtic are most likely going to capitalize on it, rather than **** up due to the fact that the other Scottish teams have poor players at the moment.

They beat Luton 5-1, with all due respect to Luton.
And Man City are the best team in the country right now, so I would be shocked tbh if they weren't top of the table at this stage of the Season, I've been saying that they'll win the League over the past few weeks, even when some people were getting carried away with Arsenal and Liverpool, I have always stated that Man City will win the League because they have the best players currently.
And Rodri being solid for them in the midfield is a big contributing factor to their success this season, his not the only factor, but he is a big factor.

Alejandro Garnacho has been dealt with “internally” by Manchester United after liking two social media posts criticising boss Erik ten Hag
Garnacho was subbed at half-time of United's 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on Saturday, with Ten Hag critical of the winger's performance in a post-match interview. Argentina star Garnacho appeared to be heading for a major row with Ten Hag after liking the social media posts slamming the United boss for his handling of the 19-year-old.
But Garnacho subsequently unliked both posts, which is understood to have been welcomed by United, the contrition shown by the player said to have avoided a fall-out with Ten Hag.

What is it with Man Utd players hating all of their Managers post-Fergie? They really need to get a grip.
Ten Hag has been vindictive against certain players, that's the problem
Young players have too much of an ego nowadays. Look at Jackson last night having a tantrum because Palmer took the ball for the pen. Yeah we'd won the game by that point, but still, Palmer had scored 8/8, making it 9/9 after he scored. I was so pleased Palmer put his foot down and took the ball off Jackson, shows signs of being a leader.

Crazy scenes over that 3 way penalty scene !?!!
Have they explained what in earth was happening ?
Why did Jackson get involved anyway?
I’ve seen it a few times now and Palmer should have got a penalty in the first instance but before the ref had had chance to decide then Madueke was assaulted by Tarkowski who should have got a straight red as he forearm smashed the poor guy as well as body checking him .
Looking at the stats Tarkowski just got a yellow for an assault straight out of the infamous Pepe book of dark arts !!
Side note Palmer is probably the best player around on current form but a special mention for 20 years old Alfie Gilchrist who looks a proper player in the making

Fair play about Ten Hag and Mourinho.
But even Solskjaer has called these players "snowflakes" which is quite a scathing attack by his standards.

Yeah, Jackson was in the wrong. Of course i understand him wanting to get another goal, he's lacked any real form this season, probably would have helped his confidence getting another goal on the night. However, Palmer should take every single penalty for Chelsea. We've had different takers this season, Ezno, the useless Sterling, all missed. Palmer hasn't missed a penalty for Chelsea yet, 9/9 now. He's the taker, it's as simple as that. 5 nill down, 5 nill up, makes no difference. Glad he took the ball.
And yes, Everton, 2nd half at least, were smashing Chelsea players left right and centre. Some of the football we played was truly world class, just a shame we're so inconsistent and careless half the time. Chelsea do play some great football when they're in the mood.
Wouldn't like to predict the City game at the weekend, then Arsenal. Everton were crap don't get me wrong, but if Chelsea play like they did last night against both City and Arsenal, it's anyone's game.

It was good to see Chelsea possibly hitting the levels that a lot of us know that they can reach more consistently in the Everton match.
when chelsea can put a run of 10 games together playing at a high level, then people should take notice, but one game, as Man U have shown, means absolutely nothing

Rio's reaction at the end is priceless
I listened to Pep earlier. He said he and the team didn't expect to be in a leading position this season. They lost a lot of players and thought it would take a long time to get back to that position. He also said that Real Madrid defended fantastically for most of the game, and city were just not capable of playing that way. So really, a bit like liverpool, they are punching above their weight.
What he did say was that his team give 100% and he can't ask for any more than that. I think that's the right attitude, and i wish united could say that about their season

if chelsea had been clinical, they would have walked that game
At least todays game plus the final will put even more pressure on their squad
Haaland, Rodri and KDB have all asked to come off the pitch in recent weeks.. that’s crazy and suggests that they may all be tiring rather than getting stronger as they have in past seasons.
They were very poor again .
Hopefully either Arsenal or Liverpool can put a good run together now

I agree that Man City's success feels a bit more artificial compared to what Liverpool and Arsenal are trying to achieve this season.
And I say that because Man City had the money and resources to hire the best of the best in nearly every department, where as even teams like Arsenal and Liverpool will have to cut corners in some areas, because they're not as rich as Man City.

Been a walkover for Utd. Manchester Derby final then.
Nottingham Forest say they are "considering their options" over "extremely poor" refereeing decisions following their 2-0 defeat at Everton.
The club said they had "warned" the Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL) that "the VAR is a Luton fan but they didn't change him".
"Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept," the club said on X.
"Our patience has been tested multiple times."
Although they did not name the official, the video assistant referee was Stuart Attwell.
Nottingham Forest issued the highly critical post on the social network at 15:42 BST, about five minutes after full-time in the match at Goodison Park - which left the club one point above the relegation zone.

VAR isn't the disaster, it's the var refs interpretation of the facts that is a disaster
I understand forests frustration, but you can't go around calling someone a cheat in writing. That's just not right and exactly what options do they have? Its a football game, they can't sue, they can't ask for a replay etc etc
I think they will get severe punishment for that statement. Lets be real here, they could get thrown out of the league for saying stuff like that in public.
Personally, i think they should keep goal line technology but suspend var next season while everything about it is reviewed and adjusted appropriately. They also have to have clarity and consistency in all their rules, and stop introducing tweaks every season that just confuse everything. That is at least half of the problem

I keep hearing comments saying that there are fewer incorrect decisions now due to VAR
bit the ONLY decisions that VAR gets correct are the ones where they disallow an offside goal for a millimetre !!
They are the goals that would and should have been given as the old take on the offside rule was to give the benefit of the doubt to the attacking team !!
It’s slowly killing the game .. players and fans are now reluctant to celebrate a goal until after the VAR check a few minutes later

La Liga has a better and much faster VAR system but sadly they don’t have goal line technology so the 3rd Barca goal wasn’t allowed .. we should/could have won and still be in the title race !

I'm not sure what the reasoning was for not awarding Chelsea a penalty when Grealish clearly moved his arm away from his body and on to the ball.
I'm not sure what the reasoning was for not awarding Chelsea a penalty when Grealish clearly moved his arm away from his body and on to the ball.
there are 3 schools of thought. 1. The ball missed him, in which case, there was no penalty and no corner. 2. It did hit him, but "no-one" wants them to lose a game like that - This seems to have been favoured by commentators, and just doesn't make sense 3. It was an obvious penalty.
Var should have easily identified if it hit his arm or not, if it did, it's a penalty

I mean one angle clearly showed it hitting his arm, it even looked like he moved his arm towards the ball intentionally.

Yeah the angle from where the managers were stood clearly showed the ball’s direction changed as well - so there was definitely contact ( unless Jack Grealish has a personal force-field)

In a game as tight as that was, a goal for Chelsea would have been huge at that point. We did waste so many chances, but City weren't exactly the better team on the day. It's a real kick in the teeth. Chelsea have nothing to play for now this season. Will be interesting to see how they get on. All i know is Jackson needs major improvement, he works hard but he's not a finisher.
Wait, will 6th position mean anything if Villa win the European Conference thing?
the top 7 places get into europe i think, but they keep changing the rules, so it gets difficult to follow

Been to a few championship games this year and yes its brilliant, no hanging around waiting to see who will find a way to rule it out
The technology should not need humans to draw lines over players feet
With the top 3 all coughing and spluttering I am thinking that the first one who hits top form again will take the league ..
My bet is Liverpool who have FIVE strikers .. Salah , Jota (looking good the other day) Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo .
So any one of them could suddenly catch fire and change the upcoming games

Regardless of what Forest are saying, the one thing that I personally find suspicious about that match, is for the third penalty the Referee, the Linesman, and VAR all couldn't see Ashley Young had fouled the Forest player in the penalty area? I do find that hard to believe.

I'm not sure what the reasoning was for not awarding Chelsea a penalty when Grealish clearly moved his arm away from his body and on to the ball.
Three reasons.
1. They must please Guardiola at all times, so that he stays in the Premier League.
2. Jack Grealish is English, therefore English players never do anything wrong.
3. It's Man City, and the Media and the Football world wants to make them look untouchable, being taken to extra time against an average Chelsea side (no offense intended) kind of kills the illusion of Man City being untouchable.

But Man Utd need to seriously move on from the Fergie era, he was a great Manager don't get me wrong, and Man Utd were a phenomenal force to be reckoned with.
But it isn't going to bring them success in the now, and they don't seem to get that, and instead decide to live in the past.
