They just make stuff up about Barcelona. They havent even put in a bid for Silva. Barca simply don't have the cash
There’s a recent deal to raise cash just completed a few days ago - sold % of shares in one of their business interests

they are barely in a position to cover wage costs, so taking on new players is going to hurt them

Hence the deal I just mentioned
Apparently Neymar was a done deal until Xavi closed it down .. he felt that Neymar would unsettle the changing room

Just been listening to City’s ex finance executive on TalkSport..
He says that Chelsea are deliberately failing the FFP guidelines… a calculated risk
Near guaranteed success and massive financial benefits against the risk of a nominal fine in the future ..

i think it's more wide ranging than that. It's only a matter of time until there is a tie up between Saudi and uefa/premier league. There is too much money on offer for these organisations to refuse. Once that happens ffp means nothing anyway

so are you suggesting that when a corner comes in, a goalkeeper can't go for the ball when he is blocked by a player? I don't think so

nah not Paqueta i think, more someone else on a loan deal would be more wise
4 months is not long, and when he's back, that replacement of his is on the bench, Paqueta wouldn't want that i reckon
--
same with Real Madrid now loaning Kepa as a replacement for Courtois and on a season loan deal, you can maybe also still use Kepa for the cup once Thibaut is back + Kepa will gain a lot of extra experience like this, upon returning to Chelsea next season

Well tbh we got a penalty against Leeds for less than what Onana did.
Tbf though there was no guarantee that Wolves would've scored the penalty if it was given anyway.
It looks like Wolves need to get a striker before the Window closes, but it doesn't take a genius to figure that out tbf.
Chelsea fear Reece James will be out for months with a hamstring injury sustained in training

So he lasted a week
It's so unfortunate and just when he got the captains armband too.

That's sad to hear.
We're getting a few prolonged injuries at the start of the season, I can't help but wonder if it is the amount of games that these people are playing is causing these lengthy injuries.

rubbish, the midfield just doesnt work now
Mount is gonna be one of those young English players who peaks in their early 20's, massive hype surrounding them, then they become an average/below average players for the rest of their careers.
Rashford is quality, he proved that in the 2nd half of last season, just hope for his sake he can find that form again.

What is is with the refs and Martinez !!
He’s the filthiest player in the league yet he gets away with murder week after week .
He reminds me of Pepe where every challenge is actually a foul as he leaves his foot in every time and leads with his elbows .

This is the beginning of the end for Chelsea. When the American owner gets bored (which im sure he is already) and pisses off, no one will want to get anywhere near us and we'll collapse under the wage bill. It's all over. Had a good run, on and off in the past 20 years, but we're done as a team. Spend over 50 trillion pounds, don't have a striker who can score, ever. Paid a billion for Enzo, useless prick who was carried in the world cup. Arista would be better than Mudryk. Our 2nd best player today and goal scorer off injured at HT (unlucky). Jackson played well in pre season, is now complete and utter fcuking sh!t when it matters. Can't seem to find a keeper. I love him, but our captain is 387 years old, yet we invest in all this youth????
Our best player today was Sterling, tragic. We're finished as a football club. It's done!

You're backhand funded by Saudi Arabia. If Boehly gets bored, he'll be replaced. Chelsea will just keep spending until the law of averages takes over.

Nah it's done. I know you say about Liverpool scared to spend, but at least they aren't pathetic cucks like Chelsea and pay 9000000% more than a player is worth, on every single ****ing player.

That's what I'm saying - you'll never be done because your backers will throw money at the wall until eventually something sticks. Liverpool have to get everything at least 90% right, just to compete at the top.

That said, I do think Chelsea are ruining careers with the contracts they're offering out, especially with the 7 year nonsense. Lavia would be starting for Liverpool, yet he could just be a league cup player for Chelsea.
I've said it a few times now, but spending rules are going out of the window. Saudi offers the chance of too much money for anyone across europe to refuse

I don't agree, the market has changed, throwing money at the problem wont help teams anymore. You build from the ground up, get a unit and stick with it, adding a couple players at the most during the windows. Arsenal are a good example of this.
Pep and his City team don't apply as they're on a different level. Even when Liverpool are poor they can get results, and have a solid enough united team. Ever Spurs ffs, they're fighting after losing their best player. Newcastle are solid enough. Man Utd, i dunno about them.
We have the might of, and powerhouses Luton Town on Friday, it'll be a bloodbath.
i would be more positive, they are not far off from clicking, they just need to settle down
Nah, if we're gonna spend, what we needed to do was offer PSG a billion for Mbappe and hope for a striker who can score. The last striker we had who could score, here and there, was Costa, and he was let go by Wolves ffs,

It’s generally accepted that Chelsea will be punished eventually for rule violations but it could take some time ( like the City case) but Chelsea are stockpiling players in the event off a transfer embargo

Chelsea were about to go into administration in 2003 until Roman happened to fly over the stadium on his way to spurs, so I don't think you quite remember how quickly fortunes can change, especially when unlimited money is involved. You'll be fine, and never in the history of modernish football, has too much money been a problem or disadvantage. This squad with Nkunku up front and Poch in charge, will be a beast when everything comes together and settles down.

The only, and i mean only excuse is we have been plagued with injuries over the past couple years. That said, we are just so poor at times, and never look like a threat. It's depressing.
Maybe if Nkunku had been playing today he could have finished all those chances missed by Jackson. I dunno.
I hope you're right Slim. But i dunno, we flirted with Administration back then, but in my opinion, even if Roman hadn't come along Chelsea would have survived. Securing CL football on the last day would have confirmed our safety.

Also, when Chelsea spent big money all those years ago, we actually brought decent players, not one hit wonders and overrated/hyped players like we do today.

Actually if you get expelled from the PL then you will likely be denied entry into the football league and would have to go right to the bottom of the pyramid

That's not how administration works. What happened to Leeds is what I think would have happened to Chelsea, as they would have got a points deduction and be forced to sell most of their players at the time, with then strict limits on how much they could spend on replacements.

The worst they're gonna get is a points deduction, which for sure see us relegated at this rate.

Didn't think you were being funny, but not really sure there is any mileage left in this topic, as it's just me going "Chelsea will be good when it settles down" and you going "no they won't."
You have a great manager and an absolute star in Nkunku. you've got a new team thrown together, and a new manager. Of course things don't instantly start working from day one. How did Pep do in his first season at city? He was mocked and laughed at at times, as his team were conceding goals from playing out that the back - now every team does it.
Any team that spends, spends, spends will never be a permanent failure, and if it was Spurs (as an example) who had your team, manager, and money, you'd be more objective, and you'd see it. When we were winning the league and Cl, I was busy pointing out it wouldn't last because of not spending, when winning the league in my adult lifetime was not something I ever expected to see - and I was still negative about the future, so my point is this; you'll spend until you get it right, so just enjoy it. it's far worse being a club hovering around top 6 (like us), than a team that has massive highs and massive lows.
Have Man U ever not qualified for europe since fergie? I don't think so. There are different measures of success, most of which are genuinely meaningless and are supporter driven. Man U are still one of the biggest football businesses in the world as are chelsea. Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal don't come close. As long as there is that differential, Chelsea and Man U will always have the best opportunities to succeed on the pitch

I think I've been pretty objective about my team and others, but saying that Liverpool don't get close to united and Chelsea is weird. We just have owners who won't spend and won't sell, because they use the fact they own Liverpool as collateral to help them buy other sports teams. We've been in the top 3 for revenues in world footie over the last 5 years, behind city and Madrid.
I would never underplay the size of united, so come on dude, this is weird.
Out of curiosity, why don't Liverpool spend more, i mean with a few extra players you could seriously compete against City, and in Europe?!

Owners.
It's as simple as that.
FFP allows owners to pay for stadium improvements without any punishment. FSG have taken loans out to increase the stadium capacity (which only increases their value of the club for a sale), and made the club pay the loans back, so we've had around £400m taken out of our transfer budget over last 5-8 years to pay for a bigger stadium for the owners eventual sale price.
They also believed they FFP was stricter than it was, so they thought top clubs would only have about £50m to spend every season.
Here''s the real kicker - without coutinho being sold, we would never have bought VVD and Allisson, so would never have won anything. So even though they've seen how great we can be with a bit of investment, they don't care, and have no interest in spending anything.

I think top 4 every season is more than enough for them. This was easily manageable on a minimal budget for a club our size with klopp in charge, but now Newcastle have come to the party, and Arsenal are back, it's looking like we'll be a top 6 club rather than a top 4 one until they fcuk off, and even then, I expect them to sell to their US friends, who will put the cost of the club back on us to pay for, like Hicks and Gillette, and the glazers, which will screw us even further into the dirt, and will leave us mid table.

Might be a threat for 2 years, but will eventually sell enough good players that they don't replace well enough and will drop. I think they'll be back in the football league within a decade.

Nah, Brighton built the Amex and haven't looked back since. They sell good players, but carry on producing quality. What would Mitoma, March and Encsio be worth???
And i see Pedro coming good.
They have funds now too, mostly thanks to Chelsea being gung ho with signings. I honestly think they'll be fine.

A number of things but had out contracts with crazy bonuses to everyone that made us have the highest wage bill and Klopp refusing to sell players who were not good enough hasn't helped, and the club overspent on the years before Klopp on players nowhere near good enough that we had to sell for crazy losses.
Also Americans expect money back so will always limit what they spend to maximise profits and I also belive FSG have way to many sports teams aswell as planning to buy more to even have enough money for their team which is why a sale is vital but I belive they are waiting to get their maximum profit although John Henry isn't getting any younger and I cant see him wanting to keep the team for much longer so I kinda feel they will sell when Klopp leaves in 3 years so they can let new owners deal with the next steps for the club.
Fun fact though we were meant to be what City became but our greedy former owners pulled the plug on a Dubai takeover after agreeing to it, they also did the same when China came calling but Chinese owners have a terrible track record

Right, so that isn't a reply to the question I asked you. Are you saying that signing Andy Carroll is the reason we can't now compete financially with Villa?
because that's insane. The most obvious answer is that FSG have always been terrible owners, and I haven't liked them from day one, because I knew exactly what they are.
Don't invest in the squad when we were on top, because CL money was rolling in.
Now can't invest in the squad because we don't have CL.
These ***** will do to the same managed decline on the club, as thatcher did on the city.
