Trump savages Pam Bondi as he leaks brutal text message listing her failings https://mol.im/a/15118587#i-f2e0bd3e5d54aff7
President Donald Trump has launched an extraordinary attack on Attorney General Pam Bondi over her failure to take Deep State scalps.
The president appeared to leak on Truth Social a private message he had sent to Bondi accusing her of 'all talk, no action' and demanding increased efforts to prosecute his political enemies.
Trump listed off FBI Director James Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff of California, and New York Attorney General Letitia James, claiming 'they're all guilty as hell.'
The president added, 'We can't delay any longer, it’s killing our reputation and credibility.'

A Biden appointed FCC commissioner railed against Trump rather than the chair because I guess it's assumed he was speaking through the him about all the things they might do. I thought that was ****ing hilarious and it's about right for our cowboy institutions to break down while attempting a cohesive message.
I think at least in part Trump acts as he does because he really misunderstands how our system is designed. You can see that with many of the assumptions he makes about his own progress and the general lack of patience. Every once in a while he'll realize some grand intent behind something and why certain things about our system are done the way they are and he reexplains that to the public like it's brand new information. It's funny.
A lot of our politicians have that issue as the average IQ continues to drop. That's probably why some older people don't retire... it's too easy.

there are so many layers to government that even if you scapegoat one person there are 50 more ready to take their place. Also, even if Trump were to outline a cohesive message, there are so many layers of incompetence that it just won't happen the way he expects. People like Musk can attempt to streamline the government, but without the layers, it just doesn't function, so its impossible to do anything

Ryan Routh tried to stab himself as he was found guilty of plotting Trump assassination at Florida golf course

The man found guilty of trying to assassinate Donald Trump at his Florida golf course last year tried to stab himself in the neck with a pen after a verdict was read in federal court Tuesday.
Ryan Routh’s daughter reportedly screamed out “dad, don’t hurt yourself” as U.S. Marshalls tried to restrain him inside the Fort Pierce courtroom.
Routh was found guilty on all counts after roughly two hours of deliberation in a fast-paced 12-day trial over his aborted plot to kill the president. He faces life in prison when he is sentenced at a later date.
Routh, who pleaded not guilty to the charges against him [B]and chose not to have a lawyer throughout the proceedings, had planned the attack at the president’s Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach nearly one year ago.

What's new is we turn these snubs into national news and then blow it up out of proportion to pump propaganda. So ****ing what if the escalator broke. Use the stairs. He could probably use the exercise and most all of them sound like broken teleprompters anyway.

[Donald Trump's would-be assassin,
Ryan Routh, began stabbing himself in the neck
with a pen on Tuesday after being found guilty
on all charges related to the September 2024
attempt on the then-candidate's life.
The chaos unfolded in a Florida courtroom after jurors
reached a unanimous verdict in the case.
Routh, 59, was caught by authorities during
a manhunt in Palm Beach, Florida, last year after
Secret Service agents spotted him in some bushes
outside of one of Trump's golf courses as the
Republican played a round.]

Is Trump any closer to his Nobel peace prize? We’ll see at the UN
https://www.thetimes.com/us/news-today/article/united-nations-general-assembly-2025-trump-znb9n56vn
When Trump takes the stage on Tuesday — State Department officials say to expect a focus on “American values” — few in the audience will be laughing this time around. Since returning to the White House, his administration has quickly gone about trying to curtail the UN’s influence: freezing funding, stopping US engagement with the Human Rights Council, quitting the Unesco cultural agency and curating the list of those attending to deny the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas a visa (the general assembly has since voted 145 to five to allow Abbas to speak in a video address).
To mark Trump’s arrival, UN staff members have joked that they may turn off the escalators and elevators and simply tell him they ran out of money, so he has to walk up the stairs.
I wish they'd turn off all the teleprompters, if I'm honest.

[Incredible surprise discovery under sands
of Utah desert that could give US military
huge edge over China]
[Critical minerals used for building weapons and
other essential electronics have been discovered
in the sands of Utah's Silicon Ridge.
Some 16 different types of high quality minerals
were uncovered in a 74,000 square foot mining
site in Provo.
The find could give the US an edge over China
which has long dominated the market.
Andre Zeitoun, chief executive of
Ionic Mineral Technologies (IMT),
which owns the mining site,
told the Wall Street Journal:
'You can’t make a vehicle without these,
you can’t make a fighter jet without
some of these metals.'
He added that the elements are also used
for semiconductors, electronics and chips
that power artificial intelligence.
Those discovered include lithium, alumina,
germanium, rubidium, cesium, vanadium
and niobium, the Journal reported.
Rubidium and cesium are used in atomic clocks,
whereas scandium is essential for the development
of aircraft and missiles.
Germanium is similar to silicon but
is incredibly rare and is critical for developing
semiconductors.]

U.S. Supreme Court rules candidates may challenge election laws before Election Day
https://news.ballotpedia.org/2026/01/21/u-s-supreme-court-rules-candidates-may-challenge-election-laws-before-election-day/
Bost v. Illinois State Board of Elections allows U.S. Rep. Michael Bost (R-Ill.) and two 2024 presidential electors to move forward with a lawsuit challenging an Illinois law allowing mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day to be counted up to 14 days after Election Day. Illinois is one of 15 states that allow absentee/mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day to be counted if they arrive within a set period of time after the election.
Writing for the majority, Chief Justice John Roberts said that only allowing a candidate to sue after they could demonstrate harm would force election-related lawsuits to be brought in the days immediately before or after voting takes place. Roberts also said that requiring candidates to prove that a particular law damaged their odds of winning would put judges in the position of predicting election results. Roberts also said that candidates had a particular interest in ensuring results were lawfully tabulated and that the public trusted the outcome.
Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan agreed that Bost should be allowed to sue, but only because he suffered a possible financial injury from the law. Barrett wrote in a concurring opinion that the court should not grant candidates broad standing to sue over election laws: "Congressman Bost has standing because he has suffered a traditional pocketbook injury, not because of his status as a candidate."
The ruling did not address whether Illinois' mail-in ballot counting law is constitutional. The justices are slated to hear Watson v. Republican National Committee, a case challenging the legality of a similar Mississippi law that allows absentee ballots to be counted if they are received within four days of the election.

Do you think if Trump has deployed ICE/military to a state it gives him an argument to delay/cancel elections there? I feel something like that is coming along
The way Federal law defines things is often so broad that he might find some kind of tangible rule for it maybe, yeah. Federal and State/Local laws are meant to work together, but since they're not being cooperative, that gives more justification (historically) for an increase in aggressive enforcement. Federal doesn't like to cede over authority because there are historical examples of States losing control of itself and it needing to intervene. But again, usually the leaders work willingly by that point with the Federal govt to try to clamp it down. Legal clarity, much less accountability, is really difficult to achieve when Fed and State levels are both not cooperating as that's how our laws are currently setup. It's why we can only guess what may or may not happen as that means Federal govt has to continue working in the grey to keep functioning... our system both legally and politically is really not designed to work without Federal and State cooperation, so I think some instinct at the State level to resist trends in aggressive enforcement is understandable. And they should always push back to make that point for keeping balance.
He could simply say that domestic terrorism is too big of a threat and will cause problems for voters in that state and close things this way. I'm not too sure how much leverage he might have with that though as elections are generally speaking locally managed. He did trigger a map redraw in Texas and the Texas Secessionist movement was not amused and they said that it was yet another reason to live the Union.
I forget which leader in MN said it, but they openly called to other cities/states with strong political energy to 'act' and now in places like NYC/Portland, they're training people. If he steps up enforcement in areas where it is very likely to meet heavy resistance, he could theoretically disrupt elections that way...
NYC socialists mobilize 4,000 activists for rapid response to potential ICE operations
https://local12.com/news/nation-world/nyc-socialists-mobilize-4000-activists-for-rapid-response-to-potential-ice-operations-mayor-zohran-mamdani-democratic-socialists-of-america-dsa-immigrant-justice-working-group-minnesota-protests-hotline-new-york-city
(TNND) — A network of New York City socialists, led by the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), is organizing a “rapid response” force of more than 4,000 anti-ICE activists aimed at opposing anticipated Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations in the city, The New York Post reported.
At a recent meeting of the DSA’s Immigrant Justice Working Group, leaders outlined plans to train 2,000 DSA members and 2,000 non-members to confront and obstruct ICE detentions, using tactics developed from protests in Minnesota.
Katie Wilson, Portland:
I know many people in our community are frightened and outraged about the way ICE and other federal enforcement agencies are being deliberately deployed across the country to intimidate and harm our communities. I am heartbroken and outraged too. This moment demands action.
Here’s what we’re doing. Seattle is a welcoming city. We already have laws in place that forbid our local police from aiding ICE in most instances.
The police will adhere to these laws. That’s an important step. But it’s also true that we have limited authority with regard to the actions of federal agencies.
And I know that our existing laws are not enough to keep people safe. So I’m working with Police Chief Barnes, City Attorney Evans, immigrant rights groups, and local leaders to identify every possible legal argument, public resource, and creative tool we can use to keep the people of Seattle safe. This will take all of us.
I urge you to sign up for the Washington for All ICE Mobilization Alerts. And don’t stop there. I encourage you to raise your voices and demand that every elected official does what they can to actually protect the people who make our neighborhoods home.
It's hard to know how much of this translates to anything real because all this "revolutionary" talk is the wet dream of so many Americans. I imagine other people feel really similar. A duty to rebel is embedded into the heart of our culture and I'm amused when I watch right and left wing people scream at each other like they come from two totally different planes of existence when their exact behavior is cut from the same cloth.
Tim Walz is having the time of his life, imo, and this is like a retirement party for him...

These Democrats voted for the DHS funding bill despite ICE furor
https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5702347-house-democrats-homeland-security-funding/
Several House Democrats joined with nearly all Republicans to approve a bill funding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Thursday, as anger grows over the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement tactics.
The $64.4 billion bill, which includes roughly $10 billion for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), passed the House by a vote of 220-207. All but one Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie (Ky.), voted for the measure.
The seven Democrats who sided with Republicans were Reps. Henry Cuellar (Texas), Jared Golden (Maine), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), Laura Gillen (N.Y.), Don Davis (N.C.), Tom Suozzi (N.Y.) and Vicente Gonzalez (Texas).
The bill also provides billions of dollars in funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the U.S. Secret Service, the Disaster Relief Fund and other programs and agencies.
Suozzi explained his vote earlier Thursday, writing that the measure was the product of “bipartisan negotiations and responsible governing,” framing the vote as necessary to avert a potential government shutdown.
“I am voting for the Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill, not to expand ICE enforcement or add more agents, but to fund the core operations Americans rely on every day, FEMA disaster response, TSA security, Customs and Border Protection, the Coast Guard, passport processing, and other essential services,” Suozzi wrote on the social platform X.
“I strongly oppose allowing another shutdown to disrupt the lives of working families. We saw the damage of a shutdown last year: millions of Americans lost pay and access to essential services,” he added. “Congress has a responsibility to govern, not to lurch from one manufactured crisis to the next.”
Gillen offered a similar justification, saying she supported “funding our immigration enforcement and the commonsense guardrails” included in the package.
The measure contained a few targeted reforms, including a reduction in funding for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations, a decrease in ICE detention beds and a cut in Border Patrol funding, which were seen as attempts to placate Democrats.
“Let us be clear: this bill is about funding FEMA disaster relief, about stopping child trafficking and the spread of fentanyl in our communities and strengthening our cybersecurity and law enforcement,” Gillen said. She also pointed to money included for the Office for Civil Rights and security grants for houses of worship.
“I’m shocked my colleagues would vote to cut off national and community security funding while leaving ICE to operate under the status quo,” she added.
Davis framed his vote as being about protecting his constituents in North Carolina from the threat of natural disasters.
“Strong, reliable support for disaster relief is non-negotiable,” he said in a statement.
Responsible governing? What kind of country do they think this is?
But remember, they're all very concerned about the Federal govt's ability to violate civil liberties... yet they all keep expanding those same capabilities...

Kill Switch Law: Who’s profiting from trapping you in your own car?
https://www.cbtnews.com/kill-switch-law-whos-profiting-from-trapping-you-in-your-own-car/
What is the kill switch, and why should you care?
Section 24220 of the 2021 infrastructure bill requires all new vehicles sold in the U.S. starting in 2026 to include “advanced drunk and impaired driving prevention technology.” The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is still finalizing the details, but this could involve cameras monitoring eye movements, sensors analyzing driving patterns, or touch-based blood-alcohol detectors. If the system flags you as “impaired,” your car could refuse to start or even stop while you’re driving.
The stated goal is to curb drunk driving, which NHTSA reports caused 32% of traffic fatalities in 2022—about 13,500 deaths. But these systems are prone to errors, potentially misjudging sober drivers as impaired and leaving them stranded with no clear way to override the system. Drivers have dubbed this “kill switch jail,” a loss of mobility and control that feels like punishment without due process. The law provides no reset protocols, leaving you at the mercy of a machine’s decision.

Congressman Scott Perry Introduces the No Kill Switches in Cars Act
https://perry.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=403173
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Scott Perry (PA-10) introduced the No Kill Switches in Cars Act to repeal the vehicle “kill switch” mandate under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) set for model year 2026. The mandate raises concerns about government surveillance and potential infringement of individual privacy and constitutional rights.
“Kill Switches can be used to restrict your travel o or to track you without a warrant,” said Rep. Perry. “The No Kill Switches in Cars Act removes this threat to our constitutional rights and ensures our ability to travel freely.”
The only way to preclude the abuse/misuse of this technology and protect individual privacy is to reject the government’s efforts to install “kill switches” in every vehicle.

What is clear to me is that europe's relationship with Trump has completely broken down. It won't be repaired because the man is insane. The greenland backdown was forced on Trump but he can't accept it

Completely agree with all of that. Also, as far as Afghanistan, it was the US that pulled out at a moment's notice making our position untenable and ensuring the losses of all allied countries was for nothing.

This is the first time I've heard that and I'm very sad to hear about your loss, but even more upset that you're now having to listen to this dipshit trivialize your loss. I don't think an apology fixes it, as he's said similar disparaging things towards our own military. It should've been obvious this is not something to say in the first place.

Thanks Maru and Zizu, it's a while ago now, I remarried and had a lovely family, but I remember the pain and so many people went through it, not just spouses, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, friends... To have it trivialised makes me so mad. It was bad enough when Biden pulled out of Afghanistan making our own position untenable and making it feel like it was all for nothing, but Trump's words stamp on the more than 450 graves, never mind those who were wounded losing limbs and sometimes their mind. Britain was there from start to finish. His words were unthinkably callous.

The problem is that he has history. Look how he treated McCain, look what he has said about his own soldiers who died in wars. It's not someone who is clumsy with his words. He means exactly what he says and people do need to stand up to him
I believe many have placated him in the past because they felt that was the best way to keep him in his box, but they now know that strategy no longer works. Behind the scenes, all sorts of things are being planned to mitigate against the worst of it. Very little will come out in public, but the easiest way to defend against this is to hit America where it hurts, in it's wallet. America is very vulnerable because it is servicing a huge debt mountain that is growing all the time. Just watch what happens there over the next 18 months

Secret recordings show Ted Cruz harshly criticizing Trump and Vance
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/secret-recordings-show-ted-cruz-harshly-criticizing-trump-and-vance/ar-AA1UWbFJ
After Trump's tariffs in early April 2025, Cruz said that he and a few other senators had a call with him, trying to get him to stand down. He conceded it "did not go well" as the call stretched past midnight. Trump was "yelling" and "cursing."
"Trump as in a bad mood," he said. "I've been in conversations where he was very happy. This was not one of them."
He told donors that he tried to explain, "Mr. President, if we get to November of [2026] and people's 401(k)s are down 30% and prices are up 10–20 percent at the supermarket, we're going to go into Election Day, face a bloodbath."
"You're going to lose the House, you're going to lose the Senate, you're going to spend the next two years being impeached every single week," Cruz added.
Trump replied: "F— you, Ted."
Cruz also dealt several blows to Vance, calling him a "protégé" of disgraced former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. He said that it was Carlson who "created" Vance.
He noted that it was Carlson and Vance who got rid of Mike Waltz from the administration, after the ex-congressman resigned from office to join the administration at the Pentagon.
Cruz said that Waltz "supported being vigorous against Iran and bombing Iran — and Tucker and JD took Mike out."
Carlson told Axios that it isn't true.
The recordings were handed over by a Republican source.

How Stephen Miller Stokes Trump’s Boundary-Pushing Impulses
The White House aide has been an architect of aggressive immigration sweeps in U.S. cities and deadly boat strikes in the Caribbean
https://archive.is/20260204145154/https://www.wsj.com/politics/policy/ice-stephen-miller-pretti-trump-2448e779
‘Amateur hour’
In recent weeks, more Republicans have openly questioned Trump’s immigration strategy and its chief architect. North Carolina Republican Sen. Thom Tillis said Trump should fire Miller and Noem, citing their characterization of Pretti as a terrorist. “That is amateur hour at its worst,” he said, adding, “Stephen Miller never fails to live up to my expectations of incompetence.”
Cracks have appeared even in the Oval Office. The president, aware of polls showing that much of his immigration agenda isn’t popular, has told advisers he wasn’t comfortable with how far Miller has gone on some fronts, according to people who have spoken with Trump. The president has said that business officials are calling and complaining to him about longtime workers being thrown out of the country.
After Miller described Pretti as a terrorist and would-be assassin in the hours following the Jan. 24 shooting, Leavitt said at a news briefing that she spoke only for the president, who hadn’t made any such claims. Miller told colleagues he was frustrated by the coverage of the whole episode.
Yet Trump allies recognize the lasting power of Miller, who was in Trump’s inner circle for all three of his presidential campaigns. In 2024, while other advisers wanted Trump to center his White House bid on the economy, Miller pushed for immigration.
In another TV appearance, Miller talked about Venezuela, prompting Trump to ask aides why Miller was speaking. “He doesn’t do foreign policy,” Trump said, according to a senior administration official.
After the killing of Charlie Kirk, Trump signed an executive order targeting liberal groups he said were promoting political violence. Miller held calls with the Treasury Department and other administration officials to figure out how they could investigate the groups’ financing. He pushed officials to use the same methods employed on foreign terrorist organizations after the 9/11 attacks, according to officials familiar with the calls. He has also sought to raise the price of visas, knowing the president wanted the government to make money from the program and saw expensive visas as a way to attract affluent immigrants, White House officials said.

Report: Bush Family Is Scheming to Snatch Control of the GOP From Trump
https://redstate.com/terichristoph/2025/11/22/the-bush-family-is-reportedly-planning-a-post-trump-comeback-n2196467
This piece by Matt Vespa over at our sister site, Townhall, caught my eye. Apparently, the Bush family is looking to revive its political dynasty and eyeing the post-Donald Trump Republican Party as the vehicle for their comeback; they're allegedly also looking to the 2028 GOP presidential primary (if JD Vance doesn't have the whole thing locked up by then, of course) as the perfect time to make that comeback.
All the Bushes need, reportedly, is for Trump to make his grand final exit.
There are allegedly “rumors” stirring that there is a “plot to end the so-called ‘Bush Exile'” as part of an effort to take control of the GOP from Trump and his Make America Great Again (MAGA) policies, according to the Daily Mail:
Now, rumors are stirring of a plot to end the so-called ‘Bush Exile’ and take back the GOP from the so-called scourge of Trumpism.
Behind the scenes, and still with deep connections around the country, a shadow Republican Party is lying in wait to take over when Trump is gone.
And, while the former president is determined not to publicly criticize Trump – much to the frustration of some of his former aides – he may not be averse to quietly helping to shape the Republican Party’s long-term future.
A "former Bush official" apparently let slip the plans, acknowledging that there will be no third term for Trump and that Vice President JD Vance "has a head start" on 2028. That, the "official" concluded, leaves "a big open field with the Republican Party," which presumably means room for a candidate from the Bush family. No specific names were mentioned.
Former Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele, he of the frequent Trump/GOP-bashing appearances on MSNBC/MS NOW, reportedly has pleaded with former President George W. Bush to start getting back involved with the GOP, say the former president is “a voice that would resonate with a lot more Americans." Ugh, worst endorsement ever.
This is all fine and dandy except for one really big thing: this is no longer the Republican Party of the Bushes. In the time since George W. Bush left office, the GOP has become a whole lot less country club and a whole lot more Carhartt. To put it another way – the party is now a lot more 45-47 than it is 43.
And then there's how Vespa put it:
Okay, enough. This isn’t going to happen, and frankly, the Bush family has already left the stage, and they should remain off it. Their time is over. It’s done. Second, the base isn’t receptive to their brand of Republican politics anymore. The base is more blue-collar: folks who aren’t supportive of the free-trade bonanza Bush II ran. If the GOP base wasn’t high on Jeb in 2016, what makes you think the 2028 Republican base would go ga-ga over another Bushie running? This isn’t a phase or a fad, guys. The GOP has been transformed under Trump, and it’s not going back.
Indeed, it's hard to see what the Bush appeal would be to working-class folks who have found a home in the GOP under Donald Trump's leadership and his ability to connect with everyday Americans. And then there's W's close friendship with "Moaning" Michelle Obama, who didn't have the decency to show up for Trump's second swearing-in back in January. It's not a great look.
While it's hard to envision a scenario in which the modern-day Bush family wrests control of the Republican Party away from Trump and MAGA, this report is a good reminder that there remains a contingent of bitter Never Trumper-types still out there hoping to return the GOP to its uniparty heyday.
