To be fair I don't think it's a rock and a hard place at this point, it's a rock and a firmly uncomfortable place, the two things aren't comparable and that's coming from a certified TERF. Vote Harris and yes their policies on things like women's safe spaces are shocking and many vulnerable women will be affected - that is bad enough, that is more than reason enough for a huge overhaul of the thinking around gender issues - but, realistically, the majority will not personally encounter any major issue.

Vote Trump? In terms of what some of his supporters and cronies would ACTUALLY like to see in the world? They'd have you in chains, Cherie. The only thing stopping them is various legal and constitutional protections in place. If they could, they'd have women back to domestic slavery. It's really that simple. That is what they want. You wouldn't have to worry about women's safe spaces because the only space they'd allow you freedom of any kind is within your own home (for those with a family with independent morals) or nowhere at all (for those without).

Do I think that's a realistic outcome if Trump wins? Probably not. The structures in place to stop that from happening I believe are fairly robust and most likely scenario is that he's out again in 4 years with very little having happened at all. I actually don't think it's something that Trump himself personally wants. He doesn't give a fork about anything but his own interests. But the people around him, wo he panders to, who he uses to prop him up...? Yes they are worse than the misguided TRA's.

There's a huge gulf between those who are blinkeredly unconcerned for women's rights and safety, and those who actively want your subservience.
