I did wonder why ,as soon as that tarmac hit its legs that the dog would not automatically jump up and try and flee, it's a strange one,my dog sleeps soundly but as soon as he hears the tiniest noise he is awake, we will never know but I truly hope it was dead before the tarmac was laid.

Maybe it was shock like too much pain for the brain to handle when it was asleep, it sounds horrendous and I feel sick

Yes,could have been or the dog was hurt before the tarmac was laid,poor,poor animal.
