My dogs are domesticated as hell but they'll still jump up if they hear the slightest bit of movement near them, I just can't believe that a stray dog would sleep through roadworks. It makes no sense to me.

Not necessarily, on the Indian version of Pog Dogs the street dogs just flop down more or less anywhere, they are used to traffic and noise
