..no, I'm sorry but that's completely wrong..it's a moderated forum/a community forum and has rules and structure and like anything like a school for instance, no one would allow this type of thing to happen because to all intents and purposes it is actually a form of bullying...

Why should we just "accept" these things though? Surely we should be minimising the bad in life as much as possible. If we just go through life accepting that bad things happen that what have you really achieved? You go out the same person as you came in.

But it's not just about being "cool", I enjoy speaking with the people that I'm supposedly in a "pack" with and I can't be bothered to not speak to them just to please the odd few. And it's not like we're isolating ourselves either, it's actually others isolating us because of this pack business. That's how I feel anyway. The only people who associate us together are those who aren't us.

...yeah, that really is part of it, that there has for a long time been an 'us' thing in one chat thread and not everyone is made to feel welcomed in the same way and sometimes in a very 'pack' way so not just a thing of a personality clash just between two people and allowing them to sort that out just themselves...it's just good for people to step back and get some perspective because I'm sure that many aren't even aware it's happening...

I don't think the chat threads are about being relevant or irrelevant.

The reason Riggins Retreat was used less was because it's only frequented by people who use the chat threads a lot less and didn't like to use the main lounge or the other because they don't associate much with the members who use it.

(For example, hence Drew's move from Riggins to the Lounge once the other members came in).

..no actually Marsh, I've seen many snipes myself about Riggins..(because I don't do hearsay and gossip/type thing..).. and why it's needed just because it's not always posted in as regularly and I think we're all aware of the fuss about The Lounge when it was re-made by Lily and even after it was explained that it was something that could be used for people who haven't yet got the post count for the private section...and I've also seen the term 'irrel' used quite regularly to describe some members on the forum...also, you know yourself too well how you're welcomed back after a 'break' and that's good and how it should be but the same welcome is not extended to all and far from it, sometimes the complete opposite and very hostile thing...

..anyways, I'm going to have to go try and sort my laptop out so will bow out for the moment...

Actually, considering the chat threads have been brought into the discussion more than once in here, I'll presume I'm in this "pack" as a regular user of them? (also the reference to several bans but we won't quibble )

I'd actually say, the group comes across as an "isolated pack" due to other members not wanting to engage in discussion in the chat thread rather than the "group" purposely excluding anyone. As I mentioned earlier, Drew removing himself from Riggins and moving over to the Lounge and posting that he'd moved over was to exclude himself. Did he feel driven out? Was he purposely driven out? No, he chose to do that and that's all there is to it.

The frequent users like Luke, Jay, Lostie, Tom, Ashley, Dollface, etc are not the type of users to pounce on a new member who doesn't 'have enough posts' or whatever either.

I feel a tonne of problems with the forum are being applied in one area and blamed on the same people and it's unwarranted IMO.

Well, I can't comment on the Riggins thing because I've never actually engaged in any kind of actual discussion over it. Much less heard it called 'irrel' so I can only presume it's done by members I don't talk to as much as others.

As for the welcome not being extended to all, you'll have to be more specific. Do you mean new members, other banned members?

And if people are being driven away from the chat threads because they don't want to engage in the same discussions or it's not to their tastes, then isn't that the nature of the beast and the reason for more than one chat thread in the first place?

That's not pack mentality or "cliques", that's simply like-minded members getting along.

It's like sitting with a separate group of kids in the dinner hall, it's not because you hate everyone else but because you gravitate towards the people you get along with. Everybody does it.

Steady on Marsh, I only posted in there twice. I haven't removed myself from it, I'm just taking my discussions elsewhere because it's impossible to hold a conversation for more than 2 posts before they get swarmed up in gifs, song lyrics or other people's discussions about things we don't have in common.

Yeah, we won't quibble over semantics.

But we agree why you did it. It wasn't pack mentality or "clique". You simply chose yourself to move over. No one's fault. The nature of the beast.

The point of me using you as an example was just to highlight you removed yourself, you weren't forced out or "excluded".

I myself find myself constantly being sniped at and having rude comments thrown at me for no reason, all over the forum, not just in the chat threads but it of the time in there and people don't say anything about it, but when someone makes the tiniest comment about someone they like, it's all jumped on like a tramp on a sandwich as if a puppy had been kicked in the face.

Yeah I certainly don't feel 'driven' out of anything, I just find myself posting less in the second lounge/asylum/whatever it's called now out of preference. It does feel like there's a pack mentality on here but I wouldn't say it applies to the chat thread.. I think anybody knows which type of chat suits them and there isn't much more to it

I've noticed a tiny pack mentality(one is banned now) but as i've never seen the gamepod drama i dont know what happened but i have saw comments thrown at him on another thread saying he shouldn't be unbanned...

I didnt really want to get involved in this but if you've got a history with another member where they've done something towards you or attacked you in some kinda way or you're being surrounded by members that are known for doing things offsite and have bans to prove that then in some ways it does feel like you're being forced out of threads like Riggins. I'm not saying it's intentional or that's a reason I don't post in there when other people do but i can imagine it plays a part in people posting less.
