Yeah, I thought that tbh.

No way a stray dog would sleep through construction work happening right next to it if it wasn't already dead. I doubt it would have slept out in the open either since that's more of a trait of domesticated animals rather than strays. Stray cats and dogs tend to find a place they deem safe before sleeping.

It's grotesque that the construction workers didn't think to move the carcass and just worked over it but I doubt very much that the dog was alive to begin with.

Agreed, story is BS, there are no indications that the dog struggled at all. Tarmac was poured over a dog that was already dead at the side of the road - which is pretty grim to be fair, but even there I think the most likely explanation is that they didn't see it - and the rest of the story is pure sensationalism.

Tarmac doesn't go down solid and there's absolutely no way that any animal doesn't jump a mile into the air when it's been burned (and hence, at least partially out of the tarmac, which would leave debris).

One has to ask what the agenda was of the person taking the photo, because the photo in itself doesn't indicate how the dog died. Animals die all the time, accidents happen all the time. People are being fed a narrative without any proof of context.

Wanting to go viral or something, no doubt.

Selfies with dead things are all the rage these days, fast track to being a z-leb.

Really doubt they actually cared about the dog. But again, this is pretty usual, look at that guy not long ago who was taking selfies with some woman who had been hit by a train

Read it, people claimed dog was still alive in the morning,

I read it, still doubt it went down as the people said. If the dog was still alive when the roadworks began then he'd have gotten out of there, if for some reason he didn't, he would have died long before the morning commuters spotted him.

My dogs are domesticated as hell but they'll still jump up if they hear the slightest bit of movement near them, I just can't believe that a stray dog would sleep through roadworks. It makes no sense to me.

Not necessarily, on the Indian version of Pog Dogs the street dogs just flop down more or less anywhere, they are used to traffic and noise

Still doubt they'd be in such a deep sleep that this could happen tbh. Stray dogs in India still have survival instincts even if they are used to the noise and if they are used to traffic, they'd know better than to sleep on a road.

Also it could have been sick or injured.

It's a horrible story, even if dead why would they integrate it I to the road? Must be mentally challenged.

Same... but it's not like these cases don't happen. Sadly. I was following a rescue on social medi where a dog that was shot up with a BB gun was tossed into a storm drain... they got it to the ER and put up a fund for them, but it died unfortunately.

There's a lot of stories like this that do not make the news at all. Just too many of them... like never put up a dog for free on social media, it can be picked up and put into a dog fighting ring. There are some that pick them up and then brag to the person who gave them the free dog what they were actually intending the whole time...

There was something going around that I saw, I'm not sure if it made 'TiBB news' or not... But there's an ever-growing group of people who buy pitbulls from animal shelters and murder them. And according to them, they are "doing a good deed". It's absurd.

That is horrible, but not surprising. We have a high stray pop, year-round mating season, and we put down about 70K a year (officially)... as horrible as that is, at least they are being taken off the street and not abused in such a manner. They are given a humane death. Recently, though, they opened a transport shelter so they could start to send them up north... where there is a shortage there.

My uncle helped supervise at the SPCA and he said there were times he put down 60/day. It made him leave that field altogether.

I only have my two, and I wish I could fit more, but there are so many that need loving homes... I do what I can by donating items/$$, but it will never feel like enough. On the up side, we have a large rescue community.

I did wonder why ,as soon as that tarmac hit its legs that the dog would not automatically jump up and try and flee, it's a strange one,my dog sleeps soundly but as soon as he hears the tiniest noise he is awake, we will never know but I truly hope it was dead before the tarmac was laid.
