This tbh.

I'm covered, thankfully I work for myself but I'd like to think this day in age that my tattoos wouldn't matter, it's 2018 like. As long as they're tasteful and non-offensive to anybody then I honestly don't see the problem. Jobs that wouldn't allow it aren't the type of jobs I'd apply for anyway probably.

Yes. I would be more likely to hire them 0.31%

No. It would not affect my decision. 22.77%

It would depend on the role I was trying to fill. 35.08%

It would depend on how many tattoos and where they were. 28.00%

I honestly think I'd be more likely to hire them if anything though. Stereotypically, they're probably a bit more likely to be driven, go out and get it, and even have some life experience

I also don't mind / mostly like tattoos so that could be part of it (even though I'd never personally get one, not for me)

Employ someone who shows evidence of having a life outside work?

I'm sorry but how on earth does a tattoo denote more life experience.

It could! More willing to make changes, take "risks" etc. and a lot of times the tattoos come from life experiences, deaths, some type of meaning that motivates them.

But that suggests those without tattoos have less experience, as opposed to simply not wanting/liking tattoos.

We're all motivated in life one way or another by our experiences, the people we knew, deaths and births etc. Just because someone doesn't write it on their arm doesn't mean they're not driven.

Tattoos are like clothes, simply a personal choice and don't have any bearing on someone's quality of life, their history nor their ability to work. Any suggestion to the contrary is absolutely ridiculous.

If they had it on their face I would not hire them.
Yes i would but like you not on the face , all the old judges are covered them but not full arms as short sleeve shirts may haved to be worn! and then there al the Prince Alberts - lets not go there.

That’s like saying would you hire someone who has facial scars or burns it’s discrimination either way.

What type of job are you offering that would mean a pierced penis would affect it?

No and I would demand that they strip so that I could check that they weren't sneakily trying to hide any .

But actually... IRL... it wouldn't be an issue unless the tattoos were excessive or offensive.

However I do think it depends on the job . And most people who have (visible, non-coverable) tattoos are well aware of that when they choose to get them so I don't think it's a problem. It certainly isn't discrimination. A visible tattoo is a big - and permanent - life choice.

Devils advocate but is it discrimination to ask employees to cover the tattoos up for example using plasters and watches like they do in airlines?

Well, tbf, that's not the same at all. A tattoo is a fashion choice, a scar is not.

My tattoos don’t affect my ability to complete a job and if someone honestly thought otherwise I wouldn’t want to work for them anyway.

So long as the tattoos weren't visible or could be hidden under long sleeves, ie, no hand, leg, face, neck tattoos.

Yeah that's true. Just so long as they didn't show, they could be virtually covered in them.
