The way Steve accentuates his words is very cringey.
And Amy didn't seem at all bothered to be leaving. lol. Surely they all know this is all an act to try and win Steve over. As if she'd leave for good with no money and no one to sponge off.

I think she's only actually mentioned it once vaguely since she's been back. £30k wasn't it? I think she spoke about setting up a flower business but obviously nothing came of it. I do often wonder why she bangs on about needing money though cos she obviously hasn't spent it

This week

Coronation Street

With David still away learning to be the next Alan Sugar, Kylie’s forced into some hard work to win back Gail’s affections.

Well, not so much win back her affections as stop Gail throwing her out onto the street. But as you’d expect when Kylie attempts diplomacy, it just leads to a huge barney.

She begins promisingly - by apologising to Audrey. One of those awkward conversations we’ve all had, isn’t it? “Sorry for blackmailing you about your transvestite boyfriend, boss.” But Audrey orders her out. And things aren’t any more comfortable at home when Gail refuses to back down, even after Kylie explains Social Services are visiting tomorrow to discuss her access to Max.

What’s the best thing for Kylie to do in this scenario? Try harder to apologise? No. She steals Nick’s keys to Number 8 and locks Gail out. Nice one, Kylie.

David arrives in the middle of the inevitable furore. But Kylie won’t open up because he forgot her birthday. It’s only after he shows her the receipt for some flowers that she opens up and hostilities resume. As they struggle to reach a truce, David drops a bombshell of his own – he has the chance to leave the Street and start out on his own...

Gail is stunned. Having the 22-year-old son (an attempted murderer) and his wife (who has lied non-stop, tried to sell her baby and blackmailed Gail’s mum) move out would be awful. She reconsiders but David seems determined. Is this the last we will see of him, Max and Kylie.

Also this week, Tyrone gets involved in a plan to help Fiz.

I agree, they need to have more storylines like that one :D

Marsh.
02-09-2011, 08:15 PM
I am so sick of Kylie. She's just like Becky, she arrives all chavvy and bitchy, then shows she has a heart and calms down, has some character development and then when it's worn thin they strip her back to bitchy cardboard cutout. Then she's all sorrowful, back to bitchy, sorrowful, back to bitchy. The conversation with Gail and Audrey was just pathetic as though Kylie hadn't done anything and they'd misjudged her. If anything she proved their earlier suspicions 100% right. Do the writers of this soap actually read each other's scripts?

Scarlett.
02-09-2011, 08:20 PM
Gail and Audrey did actually judge Kylie from the off though

Marsh.
02-09-2011, 08:27 PM
Gail and Audrey did actually judge Kylie from the off though

Yes, but she was upset about it. Yet what about their initial judgement did they get wrong? She's proved them right, so it's all her own fault in the end.

It seemed Carla got annoyed with the in-laws a little too quickly. It showed them getting along fine, hardly anyone spoke then in the next scene she's getting OTT annoyed.

But the stunt was good, even though I think it's one disaster too far for the Barlows. Fires, tram crash, burning flat, fall down the stairs, now a smashed up bookies and critical Stella all in 12 months lol.

Poor Carla:(. Alison King is such an underrated actress, she was fantastic that scene when she was on the floor crying after being raped was harrowing to watch.

I've just been reading Steve's one night stand Beth is coming back into the show. I thought she night return.

Coronation Street bosses have announced that Steve McDonald's old flame Beth will be joining Underworld later this year.

Beth, played by actress Lisa George, first appeared on the soap in August as Steve arranged a date with her at the Bistro in a bid to make Becky jealous.

The storyline saw Steve (Simon Gregson) recall that Beth was a stunning model when he knew her years ago, but as they were reunited, he was far from impressed when he saw how she had changed.

In the end, Beth and Steve were both kicked out of the Bistro amid a heated row with Becky (Katherine Kelly), who was having a fling with Nick Tilsley at the time.

ITV.com has now revealed that Beth is to become a new recruit for Underworld and will be getting involved "in some of the dramas" at the factory.

George has previously played minor roles in Coronation Street in 1997, 2005 and 2007

If they send her to prison then they're just writing her character off and they won't do that for someone like Fiz

This is a classic case of all evidence mounting against her at first, with an eleventh hour turnaround (probably with John stuff)

It's the little things in Corrie that piss me off. The other night Nick & Eva were taking the wine and the security guard came back. They managed to avoid getting caught but once he had gone I wondered how they were going to get the van out of the security gates. Why would the guard not lock the gates on his way out ? I'm not even going to ask if they had CCTV, what with Nick's name plastered all over the van.

Then when Max went missing, he managed to walk into a busy Rovers, and walk through the bar without anyone seeing him....

I can't stand stories like this in soaps. When they completely ignore character's history and personality to suit the current plot, Becky should have been given a better exit than a rehash of Karen's storylines.

On what planet would Roy, Hayley and Steve believe a word that comes out of Tracey's mouth? She's the resident convicted murderer, back when she put Roy and Hayley through hell pretending Amy was Roy's. It's laughable. And Dreary just going along with it. Really bad writing.

Plus, Steve leaving his wife after getting Tracy pregnant and his ex wife being distraught because she's barren, do the writer's not remember doing this exact same thing before? I think Karen left around Christmas time too. lol
It's worse than Eastenders.

As for the cliche birth, got to say I laughed when Chesney and Gary stuck in the middle of nowhere with one bike between them made it to the birth well in time before the bloody ambulance.

I do agree with you on the character's personality changing just to suit the story, it goes on all the time.

It's like when they write two characters together that don't usually speak to each other all year round, again just to suit the story.

I hate any kind of soap story that is either a wedding or a birth. They have to make both these into major tragedies, that all come together at the end of the episode. I've yet to see a soap character give birth after 12 hours of pushing and screaming, they all just seem to drop out wherever they are.

Only one thing that annoyed me more than this birth tonight and it was that little brat wrapped in blue pillow cases hiding away in the corner, only later to be found stuffing biscuits down her throat.

I'm usually the same, but tonights was done really well, I think the Chesney and Gary side story helped out, their journey back to Weatherfield was charming, and I loved the fact that Beetham tower acted as 'the star'.

It'll be so Frank thinks he gets away with it but he'll have his just deserts when he didn't expect it.

I think Anne will then try and blame Carla/Peter or maybe Kevin for the crime, who is jealous of Sally getting close to Frank but can see that his Sal is being used;).

I'm not sure if I like Mary or not, I find her funny sometimes but she can also be a bit annoying, and I still think it's ridiculous that her and Norris are great friends again after she went psycho on him

Mary is annoying full stop. I find her as funny as piles:rolleyes:.

Julie is hilarious, so underrated in the comedy stakes and Katy Cavanagh outshines Patti Clare IMO.

Oh, who to? Sally?

Well apparently

Once he is found not guilty he works more on Sally until he attempts to rape. (I'm not sure if it goes all the way) Then he is found dead, suspected murdered. Kevin is the first suspect after it emerges he rapes (or attempts) Sally.

I think they are going to run a 'who-done-it' plot.

So the rumours say...

I think it's the mother who does it. Not sure if it's actual murder or self defense. I never thought about your theory that she could shove Peter/Carla or Kevin in the frame though. That sounds exciting, especially if she can plant some evidence on any of them.

Yeah I have questioned Norris being so close with her after what she put him through. Although I seem to remember both Rita and Emily telling Norris it was all in his head.

I don't care though because I think they work so well together.

Mary doesn't have to speak sometimes & she makes me laugh with her facial expressions.
