I think though, that we just have two chat threads and one stays the same as a tradition type thing and the other is renamed every now and then..and that seems like the best of both and kind of fits with everyone/compromise or whatever...otherwise I think we all do say things like..can we name our chat thread etc and without realising it, it does kind of give an impression of ‘clique’ or maybe some members not feeling welcome or comfortable posting..I actually had a conversation with someone about this the other day and as much as I think that we’re all fairly friendly people and a friendly forum, we do have to be careful not to make people feel excluded without realising it....because that’s exactly how that person felt, which is quite sad...

..anyway, I’m not going to say any more on the chat thread thing..

Most of these bands have the same kind of lifestyles and same views on talent shows like x factor and stuff. They aren't as mainstream as others and put more work into becoming who they are and to become successful. That's why rock bands are usually so talented.

..I'd like that thank you, Jake..:love:..I always love listening to new stuff and it's one of the things I love most about TiBB because I've discovered some great current music and otherwise get stuck in my older stuff...

..yeah Drew, I think that's it as well..I think maybe that's also why they sometimes come across as arrogant, because they're so the opposite of the pop music thing that they start to loom as though they're looking down on everything, when I don't think they are but for them, some of the music successes must be quite annoying and that makes them look like it's wrong/arrogant for them to take their music seriously...also, they are young as well and not wanting to pull the age card but I do think that it makes for feeling as though you have to prove yourself more as opposed to someone like Bowie..?...I'm rambling and have no idea what I'm talking about...

I've seen all 5, but I might revisit Birmingham as I visited at the start of the AS year & can barely remember it.

I can vouch for Birmingham as a uni city. I ended up staying here afterwards. Selly Oak is a perfect location - just outside the city centre, and all the student houses are right next to the campus for when you move out of halls.

The crime rate doesn't bother me so much, my sister was robbed in York (one of the safest cities in England) & nothing has happened to her In Nottingham so far

If you're honestly telling me that turning up to an audition, singing live 8 times and having a pretty much guarenteed number 1 is harder work than touring small pubs, getting your name out there and eventually making it after people realise your potential then that's just wrong.

In terms of building a platform for themselves they do. Talent show contestants get it handed on a plate in comparison. I'm not doubting they do less work once they finally make it after the shows though.. Theres just a big difference between winning a TV show in a 3 month period and doing gigs, self promotion and all that over years. I enjoy X Factor and i couldn't care less anyway lol.

I couldn't stop laughing today in my counselling session, got the giggles because we were talking about anger and she was like "there's an exercise I do normally but we can't do it here because the room's not big enough and we don't have enough time, but basically I get people to walk around with a chair as if it's a shopping trolley and I purposely keep bumping into you until you get angry to see how you deal with conflict" and I just found it so bloody funny that I couldn't stop laughing :laugh2:

I couldn't stop laughing today in my counselling session, got the giggles because we were talking about anger and she was like "there's an exercise I do normally but we can't do it here because the room's not big enough and we don't have enough time, but basically I get people to walk around with a chair as if it's a shopping trolley and I purposely keep bumping into you until you get angry to see how you deal with conflict" and I just found it so bloody funny that I couldn't stop laughing :laugh2:
