I decided to finally finish what I had left of South Pacific while I wait for the episode of BBUS that I missed tonight to get on CBS.

This season was pretty damn awful. It got interesting right at the merge and that's literally it. Not many people in the cast that I liked either. And Sophie winning is super disappointing as well. She was semi-ok for a while but became the worst by the end, and she wins SMH.

I think Sophie is my favorite non-Sandra winner? Her victory makes SoPa sooooo narratively satisfying and an overall redeemable season. There's just something beautiful about someone with no tolerance for bull**** being placed on a tribe that is entirely fueled by bull**** :love:

Rob C is okay, but a bit annoying and cringey (he clearly knew the show very well), and I don't like how he dominates the airtime so much.

Amazon has been a good series, but seems overrated judging by the first eight episodes. The last two vote offs were very predictable.

Just got to the Michael blindside in One World. How fitting that girls vs. guys alliances was being discussed in the BBUS sections earlier. :joker:

Anyway, this girls alliance has a LOT of potential. I love almost everyone in this cast in general. Troyzan & almost all the girls have been great. :clap1: Jay has been pretty good too. I couldn't stand Tarzan at first but he's gotten kinda funny to laugh at as well... :joker:

This is like polar opposite to South Pacific, where I actually have a lot of people I support on this season and no one I find too boring or unlikable.

Thankfully some of the annoying people (Matt/Colton/Nina/kinda Monica) have all gone early.

Well, Troyzan has inevitably gone. :( It was a decent exit episode too considering he had no shot of staying and it still managed to be entertaining.

Still plenty of people to root for though. This is definitely the best female alliance since Dani's BB13 group. :clap1: Chelsea & Alicia :love: The rest are good too, Kim is the only one that's just kinda alright if not boring.

Pretty good season so far as well, the only thing hurting it is that it's been super predictable lately and I feel like it will continue to be. Is Kim really gonna just dominate through this entire game? (rhetorical question... no one answer that :joker:)

I'm almost halfway through All Stars:

I've actually been enjoying this season but the boot order is not going well. Rudy's exit was sad (I find him pretty hilarious and endearing...idk if this is controversial or not), Rob C's was disappointing but Hatch's is a step too far :bored: and to save ****ing Colby are you serious?!

The whole Sue debacle was pretty awkward, as was her screaming at Jeff :/ I'm not sure what I think really? I laughed when it happened, then felt bad when I saw her reaction, then thought she was perhaps taking it a bit too seriously, then felt bad for her again? idk, pretty uncomfortable all around and it's sad her and Rich's Survivor experience ended this way

Still a decent season though but definitely gets a little underwhelming entertainment-wise and very predictable game-wise after the half way point.

Finished All Stars (minus the reunions):

omg I actually blindsided myself this entire season, I had assumed Rob won based on stuff I already knew so when Jeff revealed the last vote I was like '...err what, eh :umm2:' that was so weird lmao, biggest shock of all the seasons I've seen. But now with my stupid Wiki reading (that I really should know better than to do) I've gone and spoilt a season I didn't realise he was in! So I'm pissed

Anyway, to sum up the last few episodes:

Rupert getting trashed at the reward :joker: :joker: Shii-Ann winning immunity against all the odds and then dragging them all at tribal :love: what hypocrites Alicia and Jenna were tho, moaning at her for celebrating her victory yet there they were saying 'don't worry Rupert you've got this she's gonna fall' :rolleyes:

What is a Jenna btw I still don't remember who this irrelevant woman is, and she was a dumbass voting Rupert out tbh

The final tribal was as bitter as I expected but I strangely enjoyed it! I see why people don't like this season and it was certainly miserable but for the most part I thought it was okay, it only really got awful in the last few episodes. The biggest issue for me is that the people I liked the most left early (Richard, Rob C, Rudy, Jerri) and it didn't really recover

Also a few random things: this is by far my favourite remix of the theme, especially the strings in the middle :love: and I do wish they'd do the big elaborate entrances with Jeff carrying the urn again, one of the best parts of the early seasons <3

10 isn't amazing but it has a lot of uniqueness that makes it appealing on a first watch. 12 is gr8, 13 is awful and 14 isn't that good either. 15-17 are all gr8, 19 is ****e bc of editing, and 20 is gr8.

The standouts between 12-20 for me [Haven't seen the ones before are];
20 [Heroes v Villans], 16 [Micronesia], 15 [China], 17 [Gabon] and 19 [Samoa] is very marmite but I enjoyed it.
12 [Panama] is a good season also.

14 [Fiji] is one of the worst seasons I've ever seen, It's not just a boring season, most of the cast are also dis likeable [but aren't even compelling and dis likeable]

18 [Tocanitis] is another season I found to be boring and very predictable.

Probably my worst 5 seasons of survivor are; 14, 18, 22, 24, 30

Finished Blood vs. Water. I do love the blood vs. water theme because it makes things more personal and there's so much more potential for people switching over at the merge & power shifts later on, etc. However, SJDS was the better season.

Overall, this was another very average Survivor season. Idk if I'm just starting to get bored of Survivor or if I saved some of the more boring/bland/uneventful ones for last. :shrug: It might just be that Redemption Island hurts this show so much and most of the seasons I've recently watched include Redemption. I can't believe they brought it back again.

Also, Tyson's kinda not as bad as I originally thought.. He still has some of that awkward douchiness to him but it's kinda amusing at times and I also liked how he played the game this time around. (even though I was rooting against him towards the end of the season; that's more to do with almost all of the people I liked being left at the end)

Finally continued watching Cambodia.

It's really not good. However, I'm on the finale now and this TC is EPIC.

Just so much that went on. Kelley & Jeremy both using idols, resulting in no votes for anyone, then a re-vote tie followed by a unanimous decision made for Kimmi to go. :joker: (and that's after Keith almost gave up his spot too lol)

I also like how it resulted in Kimmi going in the end right when she finally decided to try making a move. :joker: Jeremy's reactions to the whole thing. :clap1: / :laugh:

Shirin just came off as annoying right off the bat this time. (I think she kinda did in Worlds Apart too from what I can remember but then got better) Then she got eliminated early so there's that.

I started to sour a little bit on Peih-Gee towards the end of China and then she just didn't pop at all on this season. Very, very boring.

Kimmi was just bad throughout. All she did was play for others to win and then when it came down to it she tried turning on the person that was actually pretty loyal to her. It maybe wasn't awful since he went on to win the game but also all her "moves," or non-moves, were kinda annoying and so was she as a person.

My biggest shock was that I liked Abi-Maria quite a bit. :joker: But then again even though I didn't like her and ranked her low in Philippines, I did always find her pretty amusing. If I was ranking right now I might actually swap Abi & Stephen on that ranking. Stephen & Ciera were still pretty good but Jesus they went on and on too much about voting blocks and the game, etc. etc.

I quite enjoy it tbh but i do find the same tribe winning all the time a little bit boring even though the odds are against them so it's like a underdog type of thing.But this is deffo my least favourite Parvati season, I'm finding it hard between fans vs favourites and Heroes vs Villians which season was Parvati's best because she was amazing in both and both seasons were amazing.

I do agree that it was disgusting but it made me respect her less that she left the game for it, and wanted to sue him for a 100k or whatever. Richard Hatch is a disgusting man though, and can't see how he would be a fan favourite :shrug:

Ethan has such a good energy to him though and I love his style of gameplay, reminds me a bit of Dan from Big Brother actually!

I mean, I think "what happened to her was horrible but I don't quite respect the way she reacted to being sexually assaulted" is kind of a ****ty stance to take, and even more when you factor in how everyone on the show and the viewers reacted. Kathy complaining about Sue bringing everyone into her core of hatred, Tom doing a celebratory ding dong the witch is dead dance, the general sentiment being that Sue is the crazy person overreacting... like I said, All-Stars is just suuuuuch a grimy and dark season that really isn't enjoyable at all. I think Alicia of all people was the most sympathetic towards Sue? That speaks volumes omfg.

The merge is probably the most game play but the red tribe winning loads of comps is still gameplay, they so happen to be the strongest tribe which is needed if you want to go into the merge with numbers. Mogo sucked and lacked a lot of things which costed them.

I guess so -- but which tribe you end up being on is luck, and the red team always seemed to have the strongest people to begin with. Just seems a little unfair that they make it to the top 10 with their only involvement being voting out Rob C.

The tribe swap is deffo luck but most comps need strategy to win, i don't think its unfair, they had the best strategy in comps and made top 10 with how strong they are mentally and physically Survivor isn't for the weak

I was impressed actually with Amber's ability to strategize putting her at the top of the original red tribe for me. Like I said, it's hard for me to root for the others when they haven't been tested at all. But she's already starting to prove her worth much more! :)

I kiiinda think you should finish All-Stars, especially if the ending isn't what you expected it to be. You'll probably find some joy out of the FTC, I'm sure.

And I know there's no stopping you, but I wouldn't recommend starting with all the seasons with returning players. Oh wel, enjoy~

Yeah you might find more enjoyment starting with the earlier seasons and going through rather than jumping around (like I've done when re-watching. Oops), just so you can see the evolution in gameplay and how certain characters change etc

I wasn't really a fan. It's just very meh and as you say the gameplay is dull. Likeable people get voted out early. Either All-Stars or Thailand is my least favourite out of the first eight.

I think my issue with All-Stars is just that it's soooooo negative and depressing, like nobody had any sort of fun whatsoever. Like, it starts off with Jenna's quit and then there's the Sue/Rich thing and then there's the Lex/Rob thing and then there's the Chapera/Shii Ann thing and then there's that random Rupert/Tom thing you probably forgot about and then there's the Final TC AND THEN there's the reunion... yikes. It's nonstop negativity and a longer season than usual so it's just dire all around.

Also, I know we haven't Gotten There yet and we probably never will since Raph ragequit but what are our thoughts on Kathy's jury speech? I know some people think it was brilliant in how raw n real it was but I think it was largely pathetic! Sorry Kathy, but I can't really empathize with someone who was so grossly judgmental towards others in the face of real tragedy all season long ("cancer to the tribe" "core of hatred" etc.)

I really liked both Kathy and Alicia's jury speeches at the time (of my first watch of All-Stars). I understand why someone would dislike Kathy on All-Stars, but personally I thought she was okay. Just extremely underwhelming in contrast to her appearance on Marquesas where I adored her.

Just to clarify, I disliked Alicia on All-Stars and her jury speech is quite irritating on reflection.
