…I’ve just watched the first season of Slow Horses…
…it’s actually very good, fun characters and gripping storyline…
….also…
….The Folly that Hassan was taken to in the last episode…?…..is somewhere I’ve been quite a few times…/…Wimpole’s Folly in Cambridgeshire….
yes, i felt to talk about it doesn't do it justice, because it's just so different from what you would expect, and the acting is great

…I wasn’t sure that I’d like Gary Oldman’s character at the beginning but Lamb really grows on us, doesn’t he…….
…although the ending of season 1, I did have a feeling from the first flashbacks that he had killed her husband…/…I hadn’t figured for Cartwright’s grandfather to be part of it though…

…yeah that…did that just happen…but starts right at the beginning with the Stanstead security alert and chase etc when the wrong clothing details were given by MI5…….EXCUSE ME…!!!!!!…it was a a few episodes before they revealed it was all a training exercise……I liked that lightness of it because the storyline itself was very dark so it created a great balance…I was sad when Sid died, though…was Sid her name…

Ahhh ... you missed something. The young tech guy said that all trace of her had been wiped out from records. The implication from that is that she is not dead

I started watching Loudermilk last night and am enjoying it, it's very funny
…I’ve just begun to watch season 2 of Slow Horses…
…..hmmmmmm….
…so is this going to be their thing/the series thing that in each season they pick a favourite character to kill off…?…that’s not good at all and if that’s the way of them then they can keep their heartbreak right now and Season 3 can sit on its own in the corner….no one needs that…Min…

no, that's not how it goes in the global scheme of things :bawling:
…I have a few spy skills myself and have noticed a pattern in the last two seasons…they’re killing off characters whose first names only have three letters…Sid/then Min…if they drop the b from Lamb and start to call him Lam or shorten Cartwright to Riv then I’m switching off and they can keep their global schemes ….

Although, i think season 3 will have you shouting at the TV :joker:

I'm currently watching the Netflix series 'One Day '
I've never read the book nor seen the film ,but it's got me engaged fairly. The characters are messy and annoying at times, but I guess that's to show the issues & struggles
they're going through in life, and how they're trying to fill some void.which I guess should be sort of relatable.
I didn't expect Emma to be having some random affair with her married colleague at the
school she works at ,seemed out of character. I think it's showing how unhappy she is,as she split with boyfriend ( who is also a very annoying character ,and I cringed when he kept the keys to the flat ,and invaded her privacy) dysfunctional character.
Dexter is a weird one , I find him exhausting and annoying, we're meant to sympathy a bit with him. But I just find myself rolling my eyes at his broken behaviour. Hopefully he has growth later on.
I'm watching 'Kin', a drama about a Dublin crime family. BBC1. It's really gripping...D:
…Ive just started to watch Deadloch….I saw an online review/description that says it perfectly so I’ll use that and their words…
Deadloch is the Feminist Crime Parody You Didn’t Know You Needed
This delightful Australian import, originally called Funny Broadchurch, starts off as a spoof before blooming into an addictive, hilarious thriller that stands on its own.
….sometimes horrifying, sometimes hilarious and quirky as all heck…/…I’m loving it…

…I’m liking it a lot, I might finish it later or tomorrow…it’s different to anything else really, isn’t it…I mean, the humour isn’t dark humour as we would generally associate with this type of dark storyline because it really is very dark in content …it’s a silly, almost childish humour…(…with very non child appropriate language……)…but just silly humour so we’re literally laughing out loud and then in a breath it’s…oh wow….
…they’re funny old people down under, aren’t they……

Back in the day (2010-2014) I was a BIG fan of The Walking Dead. But wow, how that show saw a decline.
Now a new show has started, The Walking Dead - The Ones Who Live.
It follows Rick and Michonne. I was up for that. I big fan of those characters.
However, this isn't really a spoiler because it happens in the first few minutes of episode one, series one, RICK loses his hand.:shocked::shocked:
Sorry, bad move. I know it's in the comics but it really wasn't necessary for the TV show. It ruined it for me. I switched off. :fist:
I might return, but wow what a dumb move by TV bosses.

Adding onto my comments, I see Rick as a hero.
It's like having Batman with one hand.
A very silly decision. Now he's disabled.

…yeah, I did a thread for that because from the trailer it seems a bit of a stand out series….

…I’ve just begun to watch Defending Jacob …it feels a bit slow after the frantic storyline of Deadloch but it’s obviously just establishing the storyline and ‘event’ etc and what all of the relationships are…it’s a strong cast and a storyline that should work well so hopefully it’ll all get exciting soon…

One Day on Netflix, it's very good
Let me know what you think after, it's been a while since I watched it but I remember it being interesting...
…yeah, it was interesting…a bit slow paced at times, I thought…I enjoyed the general storyline ….
….I had guessed that his grandfather had arranged for the killing of Patz from when he was writing the note and crying as he was doing it….i felt that that he was being forced to write it…?..anyway, though…I thought that it might have left it that Jacob did kill Ben or we found out who had killed him…because it could have been another pupil at the school…?…but it left us really not knowing…plus I guess that we assume that Jacob doesn’t recover…I didn’t like the thread through it all that it felt as though his mom had lost her belief in him…and she wanted him to die in the car…/…for them both to die…it felt as though she felt more at peace in knowing that Jacob would probably never recover…we don’t even know if Jacob did kill anyone because he said that he did because it’s what he thought his mom wanted him to say …but we don’t know if it was true…
One Day on Netflix, it's very good
…I’ll go have a little look at this later…
…as recommended, I’m watching One Day…it’s a bit different and great chemistry with the lead characters…I like the concept of looking at their lives each year on that one day…

…the more I think about this….
…the more I disliked the ending and feel no sense of closure in any aspect…we don’t know whether Jacob killed Ben or not and just because Jacob’s grandfather set up the suicide of Patz…that still doesn’t mean that Patz didn’t kill Ben and that being the reason why he deleted the pics from his phone…it just means that he didn’t have the intention of committing suicide…and it feels as though the thing that made Laurie most sad and most troubled was how she was perceived as a mother in the neighbourhood…not her love for Jacob…it almost felt that she was ‘more at peace’ when he was on life support and in his coma….i just keep thinking how awful the ending was and spoilt the series for me…

I suppose if this was a real story people might never know the truth either and perhaps a lot of people would feel this way as a parent too, worried that their child is a evil and how other people might think it's their fault, maybe she's even worried it is her fault

I get that tbf, I've had some Shows where I've known quickly that it's not for me.
Personally I think that 20 minutes is a bit hasty, but I understand if you were just stone cold to Shogun's style.
Thanks for explaining your reason to me btw, honestly appreciated.

Some Shows are more instant on how you feel about them, granted.
However, speaking for myself, I have had loads of Shows where after the first 20 minutes I wasn't feeling them, and then grew to love the **** out of said Show.
I mean, I haven't watched Shogun so I might end up agreeing with you when I do end up watching it, but I hope that it can be an epic.

it's like breaking bad in that respect, all the main characters are ruthless in one way or another
…I think that’s the reason that I couldn’t gel with Ozark….it was highly recommended but on the back of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul….it was just such a pale version of a well done storyline …I liked Griselda, though…it was a completely different take to have a female with such power in the drug cartel world….

…there’s a miniseries starting in 15 March on Apple…it’s a fictional story but centred around the killing of President Lincoln…I saw the trailer yesterday and it looks very good…

Apple TV consistently come out with great new content. I've finished episode 4 of Constellation and it's very good
…they’ve had some great series and I’m waiting to watch Constellation as I want it to air the full season first…and Masters of Air is a good watch, but I’m also waiting for that to catch up and I’ll watch it when it’s all aired…Manhunt is just a miniseries so it should release very quickly, if not all at once…

Has anyone watched all of the Netflix One Day yet ? , I binged the rest of the series early hours of Sunday morning.
I'm curious to read the book to compare the 2 and I wonder if Dexter & Emma's parents ever meet in the book. I find it confusing we never see that in the series :conf:. Yet Emma had met his parents several times ,and even spent Christmas with them all .
heard the movie had mixed reviews. I don't think I'll like the movie as much, seen a few trailers for it and it seems meh . The netflix series feels better and more deep , especially the way the 2 lead actors interact & the chemistry. Some episodes are better than others of course. But that's bound to happen with a series with 14 episodes.
The music score was good aswell, especially the emotional filled ending.
One of my favourite episodes is Probably Tilly's wedding, and then seeing Dexter & Emma finally get together and him starting his new cafe business. And Emma being a published successful writer.
As I'd never read the book & never seen the movie,I was surprised by the sad crushing ending. I guess it's a lesson to take from it ,to never waste time and make the most of life . Emma & Dexter kept humming & AHH ing about their real feelings for eachother. And every other fling / romantic relationship they had with other people were just rebounds .
But they were always in eachother's lives. And clearly cared about
eachother, they had the best idea by starting as best friends . It's
just ashame by the time they realised they should be together ,it was short lived, and ended in tragedy sadly.
I suspected it wouldn't all be rosy and happy unicorns in the end, when Emma was caught in the rain & delayed to meet Dexter on her bicycle,I thought oh no here we go.

Some Shows for some reason are really hard for you to personally get into.
I have it with Buffy The Vampire Slayer even though it actually ticks quite a few boxes for me on paper.
Heavy Metal theme tune.
Attractive lead that kicks butt.
Some funny jokes.
Strong lore.
Giles.
Faith.
But for some reason I can't get into it.
I think the last time I'm blaming on Xander being an Incel in my perception of him.

I didn't want either of them to die ,but the way Dexter kept falling into messy behaviour,I guess it would have been more likely he would have met a tragic ending. Actually it might have been interesting to see how Emma would have coped without him, of course she'd be lost and broken etc ,but it would have shown us more emotions from her.
As we already guessed and knew Dexter would be devastated and hit rock bottom after Emma's death, which was awful to see, especially him getting beaten up and his daughter seeing him all bruised and hurt

watched episode 1 of Renegade Nell on Disney+ just now
i surprisingly love it  its set in 1700's
the spirit's visuals kinda remind me of Tinker Bell in Peter Pan & Wendy, the fight scenes are also fab
filming work very nice eye for detail, regarding how 1700 England looked
i'm giving episode 1 a decent 8.5

episode 2 & 3 Renegade Nell
this is so good, sooo
the villain is the Earl of Poynton whom uses dark magic to possess and bring monsters back from the underworld although at a cost of his own health
Nell and her sisters as well as Rasselas are still on the run from authorities and bounty hunters, Nell's youngest sister George badly injured, they take shelter at a former village (which got wiped out by the plague many years back) but George does need a doctor so Nell and Rasselas go find a doctor somewhere, thats for the next episode
ep2 my score: 8.0
ep3 my score: 9.0
for fans of The Crown, idk historically wise yes, but it also has a few elements of dark magic, spirits
i have to say it is quite a authentic series, lots of thought went into creating this
maybe fans of Game of Thrones are also gonna love this more like

Oh I don't have Disney either
Will's brain though waa
if you think on the aspect they repeated a couple of times .... if one survives, we all survive, i think it's the brain that goes on to survive ..... there's a cheery thought for you

I'm glad to hear it, Nicky.:)
I've been watching The Mole on Netflix, it's been fun trying to guess who The Mole is, although the Presenter could have more of an umph! In her presenting imo.
I've finished the Season, it was a fun Show tbf, personally I preferred it to the Squid Game Reality Show, because although that Show was also fun, the Politics did sometimes harm the Show's quality imo.
Where as The Mole was just a fun guessing game, that really felt like it was in the contestants hands on how their own fate goes in the Game.
I've got to say though that I understand how Mollie from The Traitors feels now, as I honestly thought that who The Mole was, was innocent.:joker:
I was really convinced that it was either William or Casey for most of the Season.
…I think that I might try the new Ripley series next….

…I just saw the littlest snippet of the trailer last night but I was tired and thought it was about Ellen Ripley, the Sigourney Weaver/Alien character….then realised it was Tom Ripley…/…Talented Mr Ripley based character…I love Andrew Scott as well so I’ll give it a go, I think…

The Cat had better not get hurt.:nono:
…I watched the first episode of Ripley last night and seems ok, actually…Mock, I’m confirming that the cat’s ok as well and not hurt at all in the episode…it’s an all seeing cat that had everyone in the building under surveillance…so no catastrophes, no worries etc…

That's good.
It's the only issue I had with a Show from South Korea called Mouse, it was brilliant in every way nearly, but it had to kill a Cat.:fist:
Plus other animals aren't safe in that programme either.
Having said that though, Mouse really is a brilliant Show, and tbf even the animal cruelty does surprisingly give you a little incite into just how damaged a particular character is in that Show.
I'm glad that you're at least doing okay with Ripley so far.

a new prequel series is in the works yes, more background story for Weyland-Yutani, so i've read

Watching Unforgotten on Netflix atm, it's very good. It's about cold cases
…also watched the first series of The Unforgotten….its not a new series and actually looks a little dated but was completely gripping in its storyline and constantly presenting another layer to the first story…I just couldn’t put it down once I started to watch that first series and I love the character of Cassie Stuart, the lead Detective in the cold case…
…a lot of the ending left a really sad/down feeling but then, there was so much darkness that had been hidden for lifetimes…and it was then continued in the legacy to the next generation…

One thing that annoyed me about the ending of S1 is
the priest should have been arrested for statutory rape of Joanna as she was 15 years old when he got her pregnant but they kind of brushed over that in the end
I'm about 3 episodes in to S2 now

Also
if the Priest had offered the money to Joanna for an abortion then why did Jimmy need to borrow money for it too? Or maybe they were just guessing that's why he needed it?

…I just didn’t like the priest character at all or that part of the storyline…it wasn’t about an affair that he’d had years ago, she was a child…so there was a whole layer of wrongs that he was never accountable for…and from the beginning, it didn’t really show that he had grown very much as a person in his controlling and manipulative ways with his family…it felt like he was that exact same person that he’d obviously been all of those years ago…
…is it a good storyline for series 2…is it looking just as absorbing…?…

[spoiler]Yeah, I didn't like the "oh he was just trying to be kind and a good man to us all" by the daughter. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth [/spoiler[

…oh and with the ending….there was so much sadness in so many aspects of the Claire and Eric/family storyline …but when we saw her go into the care home…?….did it give an explanation for why her son was being cruel to her…was it because of what she’d done in killing the men …?…I felt as though I’d missed something that explained his behaviour specifically….which was mental cruelty…?…

Just one episode left of S2 now, possibly better than S1 I think
…(…I think…)…I’m on episode 4 of the 2nd series, I’m totally addicted…my OH is watching as well actually because it’s not what I thought it was going to be, which was a real life unsolved thing…he’s also really addicted…as well as the actual case they’re working on, I like all of the other threads and layers of secrets of the past etc …the stories are like Rolling Stones that gather and gather so keep that intrigue and edge of the seat stuff not only going but becoming more and more…

…yeah, I thing that I might feel sad about is the mother’s possible involvement also…like an Epstein/Ghislaine Maxwell situation because she collected one of the girls from the party…I’m feeling sad for the son, I guess is what I mean…not the parents…he’s having to face who his real father was and if his mother as well…

Just finished S2
ohhh that was very emotional, I'm so glad Cassie decided to let it go in the end. Yes murder is bad blah blah blah but those people deserved to die and Marion, Sara and Colin had been punished enough. I do wish we got a little bit more about what happened with Colin though (and the others but I wanted to see if he got back with Simon and was able to keep Flo)
Looks like neither theory about Tessa was right, she wasn't a paedo or paedo accessory but also she didn't kill David. Just brushed it under the carpet.
I liked jason's ending too

…yeah, everything you’ve said …I loved that Jason was going to be ok and had met someone who loved him……with Colin…?…I’m going to think that he did get back with Simon and that they were able to keep Flo because the adoption lady said that if he was prosecuted then it wouldn’t happen …but obviously it was all let go and he wasn’t prosecuted…so I’m going to think that he and Simon became their family with Flo…just because I want to think that….
…they’ve both been excellent stories so far and both very emotional endings…

There was one thing that bothered me a little bit about S2 though
it felt a little anti Irish, there was the IRA woman in it, then Marion was abused by I assume her Irish dad in Cork and then when Cassie went to Scotland to find out about Colins abuser there was an Irish flag up (not the tricolour but green and white with the shamrock)in the community centre where he used to go to

It wouldn't be a Show from the 2010's if it weren't hating on one group or another, in some self-righteous bile that these writers tend to have.

…I didn’t notice the flag but, that was very observant…but obviously there was that Irish connection in general with Marion…I didn’t feel any anti Irish aspect to it other than displaying what had been mentioned another aspect of ‘…of its time…’…David Walker’s association and connection with the Tory party was trying to be established in terms of motive…and yeah, the thing that there was a connection with Marion and the IRA woman in her past….that was being thrown in as a ‘red herring’ for us, I think….but something that would have been very much looked at in the past, wouldn’t it…the way that I took it in the mention of the Guildford Four was almost kind of ….oh look at back in the day and of that time, how there was that ‘anti Irish’ thing of not looking at some things closely enough and guilt by any association that could be completely innocent…which it was with Marion…

…a bit of a personal/pointless thing about the theme tune…is that when I first became aware of the artists, Oh Wonder…?…it was through a work colleague who praised how amazing they were and then sent me an email with some of their songs linked…they were/are good friends of her daughter…so she had come to know them through her and been to a few of their private gigs in London…anyways, I’m pretty sure that All We Do, the theme tune…?…was one of the songs that she sent me around a decade or so ago/the first time I heard it…and they’re artists that I’ve watched since then…

The Guildford four part annoyed me too actually, they were very disapproving that Marion was in a protest march about the Guilford four and I was thinking, the Guilford 4 were innocent, they were treated appallingly by the British Police and framed just because they were Irish and they wanted to lock someone up but these current Police force are looking down their noses at someone who spoke up about the injustice against them? It's the Police who should have been ashamed of that actually.
