Keep making excuses for him.
His official figures say just under 151,000 have lost their lives in the UK.
The ONS with one figure of theirs the government doesn't like using says it's more like 175,000+ who lost their lives.
Deceit and lies, procrastination and conflicting advice is the legacy of this government and PM on the pandemic.
The only thing done really well is the vaccine roll.out.
Yet there's still around 700 people losing their lives weekly.
700 out of the what , 2 million who tested positive within the last 28 days of getting a positive test , as that’s what the statistics show

Well you may not be bothered about 700+ families being bereaved.
I do, if that's okay with you.

We are just going around in circles .. we have no idea at all how Labour would have managed although looking at their cabinet of MPs and also going back through history - I wouldn’t be too optimistic at all .
It’s only a few days ago that a top guy was citing the UK as leading the way out if this dreadful situation and praising the way we’ve handled things sooooooo
I actually posted his comments in one of these threads but it’s not at hand sadly .
Maybe someone else can find it ..

Look, you wouldn't give Labour credit for anything so your comment on Labour I take with a pinch of salt.
These are the results of Johnson's government, no one elses.

sorry what
you are stating all Conservative MPS and voters are saying this?
do you have any evidence to support this?
You are right.
I should have said some Cons.

I don’t get your point tbh
Is there anywhere that haven’t had thousands of deaths ?
It’s absolutely heartbreaking but it’s nobodies fault imho .

I rarely give the Tories credit for anything .. . they’ve made some horrendous mistakes over the last two years but the main thing was the vaccine program and they hit gold with that .
I don’t give a rat’s sass about all the damn get togethers - I’d bet everyone at those parties were just letting loose after another dreadfully stressful week .
I heard stories of nurses , doctors and orderlies who were having drinks together .. they deserved it - imho
I followed the rules to the letter but I know loads who broke the rules continuously and didn’t even try to hide it .

Well look you NEVER do so as I said the last time.
It's a waste of my time to respond to you.
I'm talking about unnecessary losses of lives of which the estimate is over 20,000 of them
4 of them from my family and friends so don't get me wound up even more about that.
Because WE, my family and my Mother who has never come to terms with the unnecessary and avoidable loss of her sister.
We know the medical facts and the incompetence and negligence from government which created the environment for those losses to happen.
Which we and thousands of others will rush to present to the official independent public inquiry which your prescious deceitful PM dreads happening having kicked it into the long grass for well over a year.
Because he knows what will come from it.
Anyhow, it is a waste of my time responding to you and frankly I'm wishing I hadn't again today.
Total waste of my time.

I think if a claim is made that the government caused x amount of deaths due to failure to act quickly then a similar claim should be made about the speed of the vaccine roll out and how many deaths that has avoided
I'm talking about unnecessary losses of lives of which the estimate is over 20,000 of them
Earlier you claimed it was 175,000.
4 of them from my family and friends so don't get me wound up even more about that.
Ok, sorry for your loss, but how many times have you brought that up as an excuse to rant about the deaths of 174,996 others, literally 99.9999% of whom you don’t know the circumstances about - whether they were old, already weak, or got killed by other means than covid
Zizu shouldn’t have to apologise for you and your short temper, I don’t care whether your auntie or your pet budgie died it gives you no excuse to be this vicious
If that's the level of your attitude to deaths.
God help us.
I can easily shut up and leave you and others on here just to get on with it though.
Very easily.
Oh no, just read the news. Lord Myners has died. How sad. Ex-Chancellor of Uni of Essex.

Just exactly where have I ever asked or said Zizu should apologise.
Plus what has it got to do with you anyhow???
Fine, I'm off this thread.
You and Zizu get at whoever else you like now.
Oh but, as to the 175,000.
I said IF you read it properly.
The government's figures are just under 151,000 deaths.
The ONS state the figure of deaths is more like over 175,000.
The estimated avoidable deaths are 20,000.
Right that's it for me on this thread you and Zizu will be pleased to learn.

as anyone who has had an estimated energy bill knows
they are mostly bollocks
there are endless amounts of unnecessary deaths across all fields of life let alone health issues when you can look back with the benefit of hindsight. It's just one of these things. The UK has learnt a lot over the last couple of years and are one of the best positioned across the whole world as of now. Thats not to say we haven't had some very harrowing times, we have, but the trajectory from january last year has been nothing short of brilliant

[Although Keir Starmer was head of CPS, another lawyer was responsible for Jimmy Savile's case, Reuters and Full Fact report
Labour Leader Keir Starmer was head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in 2009 when the decision was made not to prosecute TV and radio presenter Jimmy Savile, but he was not the reviewing lawyer for the case, according to Full Fact and Reuters. In 2012, Starmer commissioned an investigation to examine the decisions made by the CPS in relation to the allegations of sexual assault by Savile, which went on to criticise both prosecutors and the police for how they handled the case. When the report was published, Starmer apologised for “the shortcomings in the part played by the CPS”.

Well by Starmers reckoning/reasoning - if he himself was in charge of the CPS - then maybe HE was responsible - who else could be ?
Given he holds Boris responsible for anything and everything the Tories do wrong ..

What are people on about "he failed to prosecute Saville" ... with what had been presented at the time, there wasn't enough evidence to continue pressing charges. I'm not a Starmer fan but suggesting he could have just stepped in and said "I'm the boss, we're forging ahead!" is just nonsense.
The overwhelming weight of damning evidence against Saville came out after his death.
I think it was a low blow but to be fair a lot of Starmers comments have been awfully "playground scrappy" too. Rubbish politics.

He admitted that he was there drinking beers and Rayner was also there but when they officially denied everything a while back .. well that was simply a mistake .. he repeated it a few times then said that mistakes do happen in offices ..
It was all a bit confusing tbh

Thanks for trying to clear it up. There is obviously a difference between one and 50 if we accept that 1 is closer to a mistake, and 25+ is closer to a pattern, but once was too much when we were all living through sh1t at the time. Bin all the phony leaders off, and get new ones.
to me its similar to the tories. they had a do, they want to pass it off as a work event, others see it differently. What I object to is the persistent denial that Rayner attended. That was a lie, not a mistake

Boris the buffoon knew full well what he was doing, hardly mistakes. Anyway he'll be voted in again as he's still got a fan base that think he's "funny" and can "do no wrong" .
Feels like this is some distraction technique to shift the blame from Boris . But non of the MPs should be breaking the rules in the first place.
If people want Starmer to stand down then Boris should aswell, but people would rather forgive Boris instead ,even though he's the PM who's supposed to be running the country.

Whether or not Rayner was there, really doesn’t change the fact that due to the rules at the time that campaign meeting happened, they didn’t break any rules at all, this just happens to be another tactic by Tory donor owned media, doing their best to take the shine off of their lord and saviour, it’s absurd.
Now why they would lie about Rayner being there I actually have no idea, that’s completely odd but honestly? That’s the least offensive thing a politician has done all month so idc.
I really wish people would stop throwing frivolous things around to see what sticks, because it actually pains me to defend Tory-adjacent Starmer

The fact that Starmer , Rayner and the Labour Party all lied about the ‘party’ throws doubt on everything else they all say imho
It’s like I’ve said all along .. it appears that all politicians are liars , immoral and corrupt .. and it’s been like this for the last 50 years at least

No but the trouble is the Met set the bar so low by fining Boris and, even more harshly, Sunak over a birthday cake. Sunak didn't even know Boris was being given the cake lol, he was only there because he was early for the meeting
Thing is no one bashing Starmer for this actually thinks he did much wrong or that this should seriously be punished, it's just to expose how farcical the fine over cakegate was along with the mock outrage from Labour over it

Seven in 10 Labour members believe Andy Burnham would make a better leader of the Labour Party than Sir Keir Starmer, according to a new poll.
Sky News/YouGov interviewed 871 Labour members online between June 22 to 29.
The poll found 69% of*Labour Party*members would prefer the former MP and now Manchester metro mayor as leader. If Sir Keir loses tomorrow's by-election in West Yorkshire, four in 10 of his members think he should stand down. However, Mr Burnham isn't an MP and therefore not eligible to be party leader.

If labour found themselves a really charismatic front man they’d probably win the best election. Doesn’t have to be a good person or have any decent policies or anything, just a good orator that the public will warm to. That’s what a huge chunk of the swing vote goes for. Blair was slightly odd but he had a weird sort of charisma and a tonne of confidence… Starmer is such an NPC.

Bizarrely, “Doctor” is not a protected title. You can literally call yourself a doctor and not get in trouble for any sort of false representation (Nurse also, which is why so many healthcare support workers etc. are allowed to call themselves nurses, when they in fact are not registered nurses at all).
But yeah I can quite legally call myself Doctor Toy Soldier. Ain’t no one can’t do nuffink abaat it.

Meh. We're all just apes in clothes.
When it comes down to it, a doctorate someone printed off from their laptop is the same as one someone "earned". Just call 'em doctor, it's fine.
Starmer's title is Sir, so that's call him that, it's fine.
Haha, just plain Starmer to me.
As soon as he does something that warrants a title, I might acknowledge it. Until then he's a loser and hypocrite. The sooner he steps down the better. :joker:
Loads of people get Knighted and it means sh**. I read this morning that several high-profile people including writer Alan Bennett TURNED DOWN a Knighthood because generally, they mean nothing. And Stamer proves it. That plank couldn't run a bath. :p

it's as i was saying earlier, he has prejudiced the inquiry, and given his background in the prosecutors office he would have been well aware of that. It's pretty shocking behaviour to be honest
It's similar to someone in a relationship saying if you leave me i'm going to hurt myself

Bizarrely, “Doctor” is not a protected title. You can literally call yourself a doctor and not get in trouble for any sort of false representation
Hmm, not quite - Gillian McKeith's doctorate was bought online, and while it's her title and the correct way to address her is Dr McKeith, she can't refer to herself that way when she's giving advice, as it artifically gives her more credence. I think there was even a lawsuit where she had to take "dr" off the covers of her books!
But that social commentator Dr Shola Mos-etc can use her fake doctorate in public, because there's no expectation that what she's saying means anything.
I'd still call them both Doctor, as I would a "real" doctor, or someone who made a doctorate in photoshop ... apes in suits, all of us.

Thank god at least the Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities knows what a woman is...

Labour's shadow foreign secretary David Lammy is under investigation for allegedly breaking rules for declaring financial interests.
The Parliamentary Standards probe is looking at possible breaches to the MPs' code of conduct.
MPs must register changes to their financial interests within 28 days, but Mr Lammy's financial register contained interests recorded after that period.
Mr Lammy apologised and said he had put "revised systems in place".
The investigation was opened on Wednesday by Parliamentary Standards commissioner Kathryn Stone who has been looking at possible breaches in the areas of earnings, gifts and foreign travel.
The MP for Tottenham's financial register included a speech in the US on the invasion of Ukraine.
It also noted he received £3,280 from the Canary Wharf Group for a speech and question-and-answer session on 1 December, but it was not registered until 27 May.
A spokesperson for Mr Lammy said: "David Lammy takes his declaration responsibilities seriously and as soon as this was brought to his attention he wrote to Registrar of Members' Financial Interests to apologise for the administrative errors in his office which led to late declarations in December last year.
"He has assured the registrar that he has put revised systems in place so that declarations are made in a timely manner."
The shadow foreign secretary joins Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer in being investigated by the watchdog.
Sir Keir has previously insisted he was "absolutely confident" he had not broken the rules, and blamed the investigation on "administrative errors" in his office.

To be fair, Lammy always struck as being somewhat principled and honest (for a politician), and also not too bright. I'd believe he didn't purposefully break the rules.

The problem, is that everything he supposedly stands for now, is diametrically opposed to what he supposedly stood for when running in the leadership election.
It's not that he doesn't have control over them, it's that no one knows what the party is supposed to stand for any more. If he wants to be a tory-lite party, voters will vote for the real thing 100% of the time.

It’s very hard for a party to follow the line when the leader has no idea what he stands for himself, the mans a shambles, he conned his way into the leadership position and now he just goes a little off centre whichever way the Tories point
