Madonna throws a bash for adopted son David (http://www.indopia.in/India-usa-uk-news/latest-news/586678/International/2/20/2)

Queen of Pop's Madonna celebrated the first anniversary of her Malawian son David Banda&aposs adoption with a grand racing theme bash at her Los Angeles mansion.

The superstar's adoption was finalised on May last year and Madonna, who has a penchant for parties did not want to let the anniversary pass by without a bash, Contactmusic reported.

The superstar turned her home into a race track for the day and kitted the driveway out with checkered flags and balloons.

Madonna reportedly also hired speedy Hot Wheel goodies for David, brother Rocco (Guy Ritchie and Madonna&aposs son) and his friends to enjoy their race day.

The&apos Material Girl&aposhad adopted the three-year-old Malawian boy in June 2006 but the adoption procedure was officially finalised in 2008 after a long legal battle.

The 50-year-old star was earlier in news when her attempt a second child from the African nation, four-year-old Mercy James was scrapped by a Malawian court.

Harry I love you, but I really think you should just give up. No one else seems to care, and you're just wasting your time. Unless you enjoy posting it, then carry on. But if you're doing it for the good of the forum, I would suggest leaving it because no one seems to be paying attention. :/ I'm not being rude, I'm just advising you lol.

Madonna gets close to Jesus

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00815/Madonna_815910a.jpg

MADONNA and ex-husband GUY RITCHIE continue to fuel rumours about new relationships as they enjoy romantic weekends on separate sides of the States.

Last month JESUS LUZ said he and the Queen of Pop were not together, insisting: "She's my friend, only a friend. Madonna is beautiful, a person full of positive energy, with no visible faults."

However they looked like a couple in love as they were photographed gazing adoringly at each other after attending a polo match in New York.

The singer took the Brazilian model and sons DAVID BANDA, 3, and ROCCO, 7, along to watch PRINCE HARRY compete in the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic in Manhattan.

They looked like a genuine family as Jesus and Rocco cheered on from the VIP section while Madonna held David.

Meanwhile on the West Coast, director Guy was spotted enjoying a romantic beach stroll with a mystery brunette.

The Sherlock Holmes director has been linked with a number of high-profile women including ELLE MACPHERSON and JEMIMA KHAN since he and Madonna split up in October.

And he certainly looks to be making the most of his eligible bachelor status as he takes a stroll along the Malibu sand after lunch with the beauty.

Madonna Nude Painting Unsold

http://www.clashmusic.com/files/imagecache/node_article_image/files/madonna_0.jpg

Click To View the Fullsize Image/sA controversial painting that featured Madonna and her then-husband Guy Ritchie has failed to sell at auction.

The painting depicted the celebrity couple naked, with the pop star heavily pregnant. Finished in 2005, the art work features two people who were then in love, representing one of the most powerful celebrity couplings on the planet.

Marrying in 2000, Madonna and Guy Ritchie became one of the most in-demand celebrity couples almost overnight. A rejuvenated singer, Madonna had fallen in love with Britain's most hyped young director who was fresh from the success of 'Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels'.

However cracks began appearing in their relationship last year, with Madonna being granted a quickie divorce just weeks before their eighth wedding anniversary. Frequently referencing the relationship onstage, her barbed quips about Guy Ritchie soon became a much talked about part of her record breaking 'Sticky And Sweet' tour.

Since then, the singer has embarked on a string of public relationships, which may have backfired in her quest to adopt a young child from the African nation of Malawi.

Painted by a Scottish artist, the painting was put on sale towards the end of last week. However at Saturday's (May 30th) auction the item failed to reach the £15,000 reserve price which had been placed on it.

Brian Clements, director at McTear's Auctioneers, told the BBC: "The auction was very successful, however, surprisingly Peter Howson's controversial piece Madonna and Guy did not sell on the day."

"The painting is still for sale and we would be delighted to hear from anyone who is interested in this much talked about piece of Scottish art history."

Meanwhile Madonna has announced yet more dates on her ongoing 'Sticky And Sweet' tour. The highest grossing tour by any artist in 2008, the massive jaunt is to promote her highly successful 'Hard Candy' album.

The painting isn't the only nude artefact to have emerged from Madonna's past. Before she was famous the singer posed for a number of revealing photographs which appeared in Playboy in the mid 80s before being swept under the carpet.

However earlier this year the photos emerged again, selling for thousands at auction in the United States.

Madonna has not commented on the sale of the painting.

Hey gang! More news for you today!

Madonna :Madonna’s toyboy Jesus Luz claims platonic relations

Rumours of Madonna and her alleged toyboy Jesus Luz set to tie the knot have fallen flat after the Brazilian model tagged the singer “nothing but a friend”.
The two first met in December last year at a photoshoot for W magazine, which depicted them in a string of provocative snaps, just days before the Queen of Pop put an official seal on her divorce with Guy Ritchie.

The pair had since then been photographed hopping the world, sparking romance rumours and a wedding in a Kabbalah commitment ceremony.

But the 22-year-old has now blasted the claims, insisting the 50-year-old superstar is just a friend whom he admires.

“She is someone I truly admire, a friend who is in my life, who I have worked with, and who I keep in touch with,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying on Brazilian TV show Fantastico.

“I can’t say anything else besides that. She is a friend, and nothing but a friend,” he added. Luz further said he was least bothered about being tagged as the diva’s toyboy.

He added: “Actually I have never cared about what other people say about me because if I let people’s negativity enter my life then I will not be able to stay focused and follow my path.”

According to the News Of The World, the star has decided to involve 22-year-old boyfriend Jesus Luz in her latest plans to to adopt a Nigerian child .

A source told the newspaper: “She was distraught when her adoption failed in Malawi as her bid was blocked by the country’s High Court.

Madonna 'will be allowed to adopt Mercy'

Madonna has convinced three Malawian appeal judges to allow her to adopt Mercy James, according to reports.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01383/Madonna-b_w_1383353a.jpg

A court had previously denied the singer, 50, the chance to adopt Mercy, but two of the judges have allegedly submitted reports recommending the adoption while the third is said be "in complete unison with them".

The ruling is set to be announced next Sunday at Malawi's Supreme Court of Appeal.

A source told The Sun: "The paperwork is being typed up now.

"All recommendations are in favour of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She's off to America."

A friend of Madonna's said the singer was "ecstatic", adding: "She made a promise that she wouldn't give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she's this determined."

In a surprise ruling in April, a judge turned down the interim adopting application ruling the popstar could not take the girl to the USA. Malawi's laws state adoptive parents must be living in the country for at least 18 months, so government child welfare officers can monitor them to confirm their suitability.

Despite this, Madonna had been widely expected to succeed in her bid for adoption, having already adopted three-year-old Malawian David Banda. She had been granted an interim adoption for David in 2006 and immediately took him to Britain. The adoption process was completed last year.

Human rights groups have argued that allowing Madonna to adopt the child would encourage trafficking and perhaps even attract Western paedophiles.

Catholic Protest Madonna Show

Show could be axed.....

A group of orthodox Catholics are currently attempting to have a Madonna show postponed.

Madonna's 'Sticky And Sweet' tour has shattered box office records. The singer just keeps getting more ambitious, with Madonna following her 'Hard Candy' album with a spectacular world wide jaunt.

Taking in a record number of dates, 'Sticky And Sweet' was the highest grossing tour of 2008. However Madonna's professional success was met with personal failure as the singer's marriage to British director collapsed.

The performer made frequent mention to her marriage difficulties, at one point dedicating a song to the "emotionally retarded" onstage. However the divorce didn't halt Madonna, who toured incessantly throughout proceedings.

Announcing a series of new dates across the globe, the 'Sticky And Sweet' tour is due to roll into Poland over the summer. That is, unless a group of orthodox Catholics get their way.

Madonna's show in Warsaw is due to take place on August 15th, which coincides with the Assumption Of Mary Feast. The group are calling on government officials to cancel the show, and plan to picket the venue if it goes ahead.

The singer's stage plans won't help matters. Using an enormous glowing cross the 'Sticky And Sweet' tour has endured criticism from Christian groups since it opened over a year ago.

During a concert in Rome last year Madonna dedicated the track 'Like A Virgin' to The Pope, shocking Catholics across the globe. Of course, the international sex symbol has frequently angered church figures before.

A Roman Catholic Cardinal in Chile last year attacked the singer claiming she "provokes a crazy enthusiasm, an enthusiasm of lust, lustful thoughts, impure thoughts.”

In addition to this, Russian christian groups have requested that the singer refrain from blaspheming at a scheduled August show as it is near a church.

Madonna has yet to comment on the row concerning her Polish show. The singer is due to play Warsaw on August 15th.

An artist who famously depicted Madonna in the nude has said that he was "very proud" after being awarded an OBE.

But Peter Howson revealed that he almost did not find out about the award - because the letter went to the wrong address.

And the former war artist admitted he found his best-known work - showing Madonna naked with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie - "embarrassing".

DJ Enferno Dishes on Madonna

http://d-images.okmagazine.com/img/photos/large/31635.gif

If you've ever wanted to know what it's like to work with Madonna, the Queen of Pop and undeniable music legend, keep reading.

DJ Enferno, who collaborated with Madonna on her tour, told OK! all about the Materia Girl. Her music director just happened to catch one of his live shows, and sent him a text.

"I always tell people, you never know when you’re going to get a break or your shot in life so you have to keep doing what you’re doing," he tells OK!.

So what's she like to work with?

“She’s amazing. I was a little intimidated going in to work with her," he reveals. "She’s a very clever and witty person. She’ll have a joke or something or one of us will have to tell a joke. She makes it very loose.”

She's not all fun and games though, completely the opposite, dishes Enferno.

“She is so on the go. She would go from our rehearsal to the dancing rehearsal. She’s like a machine. That’s one of the things about her that’s very fascinating. After our rehearsals, she’s got to go across the street and workout physically with the dancers and then I don’t know what she does in her off days," he admits. "It’s like clockwork. She just goes hard. There’s no slacking.”

Somehow we're not surprised that Madge is no slacker.

Madonna Adoption Dad Shocked By Ruling

The man who claims to be the father of Madonna's new adopted child says he did not expect the star to get his daughter.

http://news.sky.com/sky-news/content/StaticFile/jpg/2009/Jun/Week2/15304369.jpg

The singer was given permission by a Malawian court to adopt four-year-old Mercy James on Friday, and is expected to take custody of the girl later today or tomorrow.

It is understood most members of Mercy's family agree with the decision.

But James Kambewa said he wanted to look after his child.

"I did not expect this outcome. I did not think the court would rule in this way," he said.

"Right now I do not know what to do so I'm keeping quiet.

http://news.sky.com/sky-news/content/StaticFile/jpg/2009/Apr/Week1/15254802.jpg

"I will have to sit down with my people and strategise on the way forward but right now I have not decided on my next course of action."

He added: "My last word is that if my efforts fail I wish my daughter the best of luck and it is my prayer she would be well looked after."

Mr Kambewa admitted last month he had never met his daughter and has only seen her picture in newspapers and on television.

Madonna's initial attempt to adopt the girl was blocked by Malawian authorities because she had not lived in the country for 18 months.

Officials said that meant they had not been given time to assess her suitability as a parent.

However, that decision was reversed last week.

The country's Supreme Court of Appeal said the decision by a lower court was a narrow interpretation of old laws.

The singer already has one adopted Malawian son, David Banda.

Malawi welcomes Madonna adoption

The decision to grant pop star Madonna the right to adopt a second Malawian child has been warmly received by many in the southern African state.
The singer's victory at Malawi's Supreme Court of Appeal led the news on local radio stations and prompted a positive response on phone-in shows.
But James Kambewa, who is claiming paternity of the four-year-old girl, remains opposed to the adoption.
'I won't give up the fight,' he said, adding that the court disregarded him.
'I wrote to the court challenging the adoption because I am ready and willing to take care of my child,' said Mr Kambewa.
'How can they continue referring to her as an orphan when I told them I am there for her?'
However, Mr Kambewa was a lone voice of opposition, with most Malawians welcoming the court's decision to allow Madonna to adopt Chifundo 'Mercy' James.
'She is taking Mercy out of a life of destitution; she could have lived in the orphanage until she was old enough to start prostitution,' said Michael Jonas, a curio seller in Blantyre, Malawi's second-largest city.
'I am happy for her and the world should ignore the so-called father. We have lots of fathers but very few parents.'
'I am happy for Mercy,' said Martha Banda, a university student in Blantyre.
'Those who are against the adoption are just plain selfish. How can one say she is better off in an orphanage?'
Chifundo's uncle, Peter Baneti, said her family were 'very happy'.
'We, as a family, have been anxiously awaiting this ruling. We are very happy for Chifundo,' he said.
He added that Mr Kembewa could 'jump into Lake Malawi' for all he cared.
'We don't know this James boy. He was not there when my sister was pregnant; he didn't attend her funeral. How can he just come out to claim the baby? Does he want to steal my niece?'
Mercy's teenage mother died of child-birth complications a few days after giving birth.
Mr Kambewa admitted he had denied responsibility for his girlfriend's pregnancy. He met the 14-year-old Mwandida Mwaunde in secondary school, but deserted her when she fell pregnant in 2006.
'I was young then, but now I am old and responsible,' he said.
Yet even those in Malawi initially opposed to the adoption appear to have had a change of heart.
'We are happy today's ruling has clarified issues of inter-country adoptions,' said Maxwell Matewere, Executive director of Eye of the Child - a child rights organisation which previously expressed reservations about the adoption.
Frank Phiri, a resident in Bvumbwe - where the Mercy orphanage is situated - said Malawi has millions of orphans and one orphan less must be viewed as good news.
'I wish other rich people would come here to adopt orphans like Madonna has done,' he said.
'Governments should encourage people to adopt children because living in an orphanage is tough.'
According to the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare Development, there are close to 2 million orphans in Malawi, a quarter of whom have lost their parents as a direct result of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
Madonna, one of the most successful stars in pop history, first met Mercy in October 2006 at Kondanani Children's Village, just outside Blantyre, the same year she began the process of adopting David Banda.

Guy Oseary's Sticky & Sweet Photography Book

Following the critical success of Madonna: Confessions, the powerHouse team, Madonna, and Guy Oseary return with a knockout punch: Sticky & Sweet, a dynamic look at Madonna’s celebrated Sticky & Sweet Tour, which broke all previous records and became the number-one highest grossing tour of any solo artist ever - with Madonna playing before 2,350,282 fans and selling over 280 million dollars’ worth of tickets. The tour has been extended through the summer of 2009 and will have passed the mark of 400 million dollars in ticket sales by the time it’s complete.
In over 500 full-color photographs taken on, and backstage, during the course of this historic 58-show tour, Oseary documents the four acts of the rock-driven, pop journey that is the Sticky & Sweet show.

The book is due for release (in the UK) on Thursday 09 July 2009 - other countries may have slightly different release dates.

I'm not a huge fan of Madonna, but I was very happy to read she's allowed to adopt Mercy. She seems very passionate about raising her and providing her with a stable home. I hope everything works out fine.

Madonna 'phones Mercy every evening'

http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/08/21/160x120_rex_765528c.jpg

Madonna phones her newly-adopted daughter Mercy James every evening, reports say.

The pop superstar won her appeal to adopt the four-year-old Malawian last Friday and now speaks with her child each night, Contact Music reports.

She reportedly said during a call on Sunday evening: "Mommy is waiting for you across the seas."

The 'Miles Away' singer has moved the youngster to a luxury lodge in the country’s capital Lilongwe, where she is looked after by a nanny and a nurse. They will care for her until the legal documents and travel papers which Madonna’s aides are overseeing have gone through the proper channels.

The 50-year-old will resume her 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour on July 4 in the UK and it is expected to wrap up at the end of August.

During that time, Mercy James will be attended to by a team of nannies in New York.

Madonna 'banned Winslet from soundtrack'

http://images.digitalspy.co.uk/09/20/160x120_starsnaps_madonna2.jpg

Madonna intervened to prevent a song written by Kate Winslet's father appearing on the Snatch soundtrack, it has been claimed.

According to the Daily Mail, the track by Roger Winslet and fellow musician Pete Brooks was poised to appear on the film by Madonna's then-husband Guy Ritchie.

Roger said: "Me and Pete heard that Guy Ritchie was making a follow-up to Lock Stock, so a mutual friend sent him a tape of track that I had only just written.

"Apparently he absolutely loved it and asked us to go down to his place at Chelsea Harbour. When we got there he played it and played it again saying that it was perfect for the soundtrack. I thought, 'Lovely, we've cracked it'."

He added: "However, unbeknown to me, Madonna, Ritchie's wife at the time, was in on the music selection. I heard that as soon as she knew who my daughter was, she scuppered it.

"Just imagine it, I was that close to being on Snatch. Bloody hell, if you can get on a movie soundtrack you've really made it."

Madonna to be dismissed from film investor's suit

A Louisiana movie investor has agreed to dismiss pop singer Madonna from a lawsuit that accuses a film production company she founded of failing to repay the investor's loans.

Madonna's dismissal from the suit is part of a settlement outlined in court papers filed Thursday. Financial terms of the settlement aren't disclosed in the filing.

Madonna's lawyers have said she wasn't involved in any of the contracts that Baton Rouge investor Jay Dykes Jr. allegedly signed with Maverick Films.

Dykes' suit claims Maverick Films failed to repay hundreds of thousands of dollars in loans or give him producer credits for movies he says he helped finance.

Madonna and her manager, Guy Oseary, founded Maverick Films in 2001, but she later divested her stake in the company.

Madonna's man Jesus on catwalk during Sao Paulo Fashion Week

http://www.hellomagazine.com/pics/local/news-in-pics/2009/06/19/jesus-luz.jpg

He's been pictured keeping Madonna company of late, but it was back to work this week for Jesus Luz. The 22-year-old Brazilian hunk was on the runway for Brazilian brand Colcci at Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

There was no sign of his pop star girlfriend, however, who is apparently so taken with the runway hunk she wants to meet his parents. She's currently in New York preparing for the arrival of her newly-adopted Malawian daughter Mercy.

Since he's been linked to Madonna Jesus' career has received a major shot in the arm. His appearance fees have reportedly soared from $200 into the thousands, and Dolce & Gabanna have signed him up to appear in their next autumn/winter ad campaign.

It has NOTHING to do with this thread and that is why I said about the crappy comments in the Britney Thread just to make the hits and posts go up.

Sticky n Sweet poster for the Trab-Arena cancelled show

Posting images from the Sticky & Sweet Tour posters from around the world is usually something we do with a big smile on our faces. It's cool to have fans who want to share their love for M and we are happy to work as a medium to let them spread their passion to fellow fans.
This time it is a little bit different, because the image below marks a story that no Madonna fan deserves to experience - the cancellation of a show.

As you all know Madonna was due to perform in Hamburg on July 28, marking her first concert in the German city. The show was cancelled together with the second Manchester gig weeks after tickets went on sale, with no real announcement and the "revised tour schedule" hidden as a sad surprise in a Live Nation press release celebrating the unprecedented success of the Sticky & Sweet Tour.

The image below was shot in Hannover a few weeks ago and was shared by MadonnaTribe Twitter follower LoToast.

Well if you read my point that the only reason why it is popular is because you [as a forum] want it to be popular and be the best page on TiBB, It wasnt popular by its self.

And you did ask about Madonna's Greatest Hits and Revolver demo What complete bullshit.

& I did ask yeah, once.. I didn't ask for U2U's being sent to me every five minutes.

You should be happy you don't get them anymore I am thrilled. Because you were a total pest and I didn't give a **** what you had to say, like everybody.

My favourite Madonna tracks would HAVE to be: Drowned World, Die Another Day, Beautiful Stranger, Hung Up, Sorry, Human Nature and 4 Minutes.

:O the American Life album is like, incredibleeeee. My fave Madonna album.

Confessions is my fave.
Same.
IMMSENSE ALBUM.

All of it is superb! Hard Candy was good as well. Looking forward to her greatest hits with NEW tracks in the summer?

Hard Candy was SO disappointing, especially coming off such amazement like Confessions, same with Britney's Blackout and Circus. &I have mixed feelings to be honest. I lost interest in Madonna after the whole adoption fiasco & receiving such crap material like Hard Candy. Hopefully I'll get into the Madonna cycle again if the new material is sizzling.

Hard Candy is my second best Madonna album.

According to Paul Oakenfold [Her Greatest Hits Producer] they are pure Madonna classic songs and as you are a Brit fan you will like them [Bit like Blackout]

No Oakenfold in Milan

News and updates keep coming from Milan, where rock concerts at the San Siro stadiums are heavily targeted by continuos shifts in local codes and regulations that try to settle disputes and controversies coming from people living nearby the stadium.

The situation is constantly evolving since the announcement on June 12, when Live Nation Italy manager Roberto De Luca decided to put the whole list of Live Nation events for this summer in Milan "on hold" until the results of the meeting held by local authorities were made public.

One week later, the Depeche Mode concert is taking place tonight, and this will be a major test because the band will be forced to play at a reduced level of 78 db.

De Luca has called for a special permission to raise the level up to 80 db - which they consider technically satisfactory - for the next U2 and Madonna concerts, and said that it's getting virtually impossible to work on the concerts because of an increasing "atmosphere of terror" around the events.

Anyway, the ongoin dispute already made an illustrious victim. Paul Oakenfold will not be Madonna's opening act for the Milan concert anymore, because he is not considered a live performer and therefore it will not be considered as part of the show. De Luca said today he was forced to hire two supporter groups that will perform live before Madonna takes the stage, although he did not reveal who they are. You can check out the original article on the online website of Corriere della Sera.

Rumour: Madonna’s adopted daughter leaves Malawi

An airport employee and a person familiar with Madonna’s adoption proceedings in Malawi say the pop star’s new daughter has been flown to London.

The airport employee, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to discuss the matter, said Saturday that 3-year-old Chifundo “Mercy” James flew out on a private jet late Friday headed to London, with a stop in neighboring South Africa.

The person familiar with the adoption, who also was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, says the girl known as Mercy should have reached London on Saturday morning.

Madonna is reunited with Mercy in London

Singer's three-year-old adopted daughter arrives from Malawi en route to a life of luxury in New York

Behind her: a country torn apart by poverty and disease, a father whom she has hardly met, a smouldering legal row about the wisdom of international adoption, and 10,000 toddlers who, as she once did, face growing up in orphanages.

In front of her: a life of comfort and privilege with the singer Madonna.

Chifundo "Mercy" James, aged three, was in London yesterday after reportedly boarding a private jet from Malawi with the singer's staff late on Friday night. Airport insiders and sources close to the long-running court case said Mercy was accompanied by a nanny, a child nurse and another of Madonna's aides as she jetted out of Africa, and was due to arrive yesterday morning. Madonna, her other children and a security entourage flew into Heathrow on Friday afternoon.

Mercy's flight marked the final chapter in Madonna's attempt to gain custody of the girl, whose teenage mother died in childbirth. The singer had been urged by child welfare charities to abandon the plan, and her application was denied by a Malawian judge in April on the grounds that she had not lived in the impoverished African nation for more than a year.

Madonna has been criticised for raising hope when thousands of children will not be treated to the same level of help. Mavuto Bamusi, national co-ordinator of Malawi's Human Rights Commission, said: "Inter-country adoption is not the best way of providing protection to children. They should grow up in familiar cultural and religious surroundings."

But as politicians and social workers argued about adoption laws, Madonna's appeal succeeded and on 12 June, a judge overturned the original verdict. The Malawi High Court noted the work Madonna had done for children through her Raising Malawi charity, including £12m of personal donations. In Malawi, a child who has lost one parent is classed as an orphan. Mercy's father, James Kambewa, withdrew an objection, asking only that he is given updates of his daughter's whereabouts and progress.

The singer is just weeks away from the start of a European tour and her publicists refused to be drawn on how Mercy will fit into family life over the next few weeks, confirming only that their client was "ecstatic" at the result of the legal proceedings.

She already has two biological children – Lourdes, 13, and Rocco, eight – and adopted David Banda, a Malawian orphan, in 2006. Madonna's representatives in Malawi suggested Mercy will grow up in the United States rather than London. A newly decorated room and a treehouse apparently await her in her New York home, a contrast to the Kondanani Children's Village orphanage in Bvumbwe where the singer first met Mercy. In a statement, Madonna said: "My family and I are looking forward to sharing our lives with her."

The Madonna Nudes - 30th Anniversary Exhibition

To celebrate the arrival of Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet tour to the Capital, Seven Dials, Covent Garden’s hidden village, is set to play host to the London premiere of The Madonna Nudes - 30th Anniversary exhibition, a collection of intimate photographs taken by Martin H. M. Schreiber, when Madonna was just 20.
Limited edition prints of the photographs are available to buy at £3,400, and also available to buy is a unique piece of never seen before memorabilia – a one off print of the original Madonna Polaroid test shot, which, included with the original model release and the Polaroid, is expected to fetch in excess of £40,000. This would eclipse the previous record of $37,500 recently paid at auction earlier this year for the Lee Friedlander photograph which also featured in the 1985 Playboy.

For those on a budget, but wanting a little snippet of Madonna, exclusive Madonna Nudes memorabilia available includes:

- Postcards of the Prints (these are ONLY available from Impure Art. No one else in the world has these postcards)
- Limited Edition Posters of the Exhibition
- The original 1985 Playboys the image first appeared in
- The Taschen Madonna Nudes Books (1st and 2nd editions) – some are signed by the photographer
- Other memorabilia unique to the exhibition including badges, fridge magnets, mugs and more.

The photographer Martin H M Schreiber will be in town for Saturday 4th July to sign books, posters and the Playboys and meet people.

The exhibition will be co-hosted by Seven Dials and Impure Art (the UK’s only erotic art gallery) who are exclusively handling the sale of the Madonna Nudes 30th Anniversary collection. See www.impureart.com for details.

http://www.madonnalicious.com/images/extra/2009/madonnanudes_exhibition_london_news.jpg

The Madonna Nudes will showcase at 19 Earlham Street, Seven Dials, WC2 from 2nd to 19th July. The gallery will be open seven days - Monday to Saturday, 12-7pm, and Sunday 12-6pm. For more information please visit www.sevendials.co.uk

20 June - William Orbit reflects back on the Music days

While Madonna fans are currently experiencing the silence before the storm in Madonna-land, fortunately longtime Madonna collaborator William Orbit makes us tide over the slow news days as he reflects back on the era when he last shared the studio with Madonna. On his own blog, while responding to a fan comment, giving us his opinions on the tracks, on fellow electronica producer Mirwais and of course on Madonna herself:

Hey William,
I see that youre responding to questions and I have one that ive been wondering for quite sometime. What songs have you done with Madonna that you havent released and that hasnt been online? Also, do you ever plan on releasing anything else you did with her? I think Madonna worked best with you. I thnk MOST people feel that way. I remember when Music was coming out and she said she played some of her work she did with Mirwais and said u said you were jealous. I had to laugh afterwards because even tough it was good, it was FAAAAARRRRR from the "amazing" (hehe) work you did with her. Amazing, Runaway Lover, and Gone were incredible. Too bad Liquid Love didnt make it because it's the best track I think you ever did with her (besides Drowned World). Actually, that would be incredible if you made an updated version of Drowned World that sounds like the original but is an updated version. Id melt because the 1st time I heard that sound (as well as Power Of Good-Bye), I had tears in my eyes from how powerful and beautiful it was! Well, I hope you respond. Youre my idol when it comes to electronic music. Keep up the AMAZING work!
Dave

Hi Dave
Well, It's Music (the track) that I play at deejay sets the most, albeit my own slightly tweaked version. I love it and never tire of it and think that what she and Mirwais accomplished together was fantastic! I do get a great response when I play Ray Of Light however, even though it's not a bad-ass demented techno tune, my favourite style to play. This is probably because of general goodwill and fondness towards her from my audience. Everyone has a good memory to go with that song.

Did I really say that I was 'Jealous'? I never get jealous. But 'envious' maybe, And I only put it that way as a tribute to the man. I cannot sound the way he does even if I try and I truly appreciate that kind of musicality when it's done as well as that! I would be interested to know what he is up to these days. Meanwhile, I'm very happy in my own sonic world, although still pushing away at the borders.

I had to listen to the Music album tracks on which I'd participated the other day for something that Warners had requested. I cringed when I heard American Pie. A song that truly deserves it's place at the top of the 'worst-ever-cover-versions' roll of dishonour! What were we thinking?

But Runaway Lover sounded so good. It has stood the test of time very well and has a superb vocal from M. She very much sculpted the way that it sounds on the album. I was a bit spaced out during that one I recall and Mark (Spike) Stent did an excellent mix.
What really got me thinking is that the song Amazing did not ever reach its full potential. i would love to mix that one again. There are elements that didn't make it to the final. What else?, ... Gone is sort of alright.

BTW, there are vocals that she did in the late nineties that have particular strong emotional power. Not all of it released. Much has been written about her dramatic activities but she is capable of mining greater dramatic depths in her vocals than most singers today. It just isn't always in the obvious way. You have to be open to it. Plus there is always a lot of ear candy too. That combination is part of the fascination.

Interesting the you mention a reworking of Drowned World. That could be very good, I was speculating on that just the other day. The original demos sound magical and golden. But I'd only do it as an exercise in musical possibilities for myself. M doesn't look backwards readily and there are, naturally, Warner Bros considerations which are way above my head.

I don't often go into detail about past work but since I'm sitting here in a nice garden in LA, surrounded by friends and their animals and snacking on tasty morsels, with my laptop in front of me, I can take the time to reflect.

There's have been a lot of requests for interviews from various online Madonna fan sites over the years and I've always declined, but having my own blog is a good place to start jotting down a few notes. And it is over ten years on now.

(btw, was just checking and there are so many Madonna sites now. some of which are absolutely superb in terms of detail and dedication!)
But although there is a lot of unreleased material, some of which is exceptional, the question of its release can only be answered by her. And she has a lot else going on in her world at any one time! I always look at it this way, you cannot fault her sense of timing and change so there's not much pointed in trying to second guess her. She'll be going strong for another 50 years, what's the rush?
Best wishes,
William

Madonna tops Forbes list of top-earning acts

Forbes magazine issued its list of the year’s top-earning musicians....their year being June to June, that is.
And it should come as no surprise that Madonna tops the cash heap.
What is (mildly) unexpected is just how much wealthier Madge has become. As Forbes reports, the Material Mom has garnered roughly $40-$50 million annually since 2002. Last year, however, she more than doubled that tally, rising to $110 million.
Céline Dion almost beat her, however. The chest-beating French-Canadian songbird raked in a cool $100 mil herself last year. Beyoncé landed in third, with $87 million.
The list was compiled by assessing earnings from album sales, touring, publising and endorsement deals, with Billboard, Pollstar and Nielsen SoundScan cited as sources.
#1 - Madonna, $110 million
#2 - Céline Dion, $100 million
#3 - Beyoncé, $87 million
#4 - Bruce Springsteen, $70 million
#5 - Kenny Chesney, $65 million

Britneys better then madonna, madonnas good but n as near as good as Britney, britneys albums have Always done well where as madonnas have dipped up and down.

Plus britney will b in the list next year as her tours raking it in she would have earned over £60million when her tour finishes.

Madonna will always be the queen of pop and WILL sell well in later on in the year/2010.

Britneys tour earnings would of counted in that poll not next year.

Coming soon - Madonna in Louis Vuitton's new campaign

MadonnaTribe has just received some fresh info about the upcoming Louis Vuitton campaign featuring Madonna who was photographed by Steven Meisel for their Autumn/Winter 2009 collection in New York on April 29 under the artistic direction of Marc Jacobs.

We've been told that the result of this new collaboration is once again simply stunning but most importantly for those who were worried about this "Part Deux" it looks very different from the Spring campaign and has a completely original feel.

Madonna's look in the new images will be basically the one you're all familiar with thanks to the MET gala: long boots, a few variations of dresses mainly in blue and magenta, and this year's Vuitton's signature bunny ears.

Madonna is always wearing gloves and in every image she holds a different bag from the new collection of the French maison. She's portraied leaning on a sofa and seated on an armchair, with a heavy, plain curtain in the background. This time there is no set location at all - the atmosphere is a bit dark and definetly intimate.

One interesting part is that each image is digitally enhanced with colorizing effects that somehow recall the high-dynamic range photography, giving to the new campaign an absolutely contemporary yet timeless vibe.

From what we understand up to seven different images - spanning from close-ups to american-shot compositions - will be released in the August 2009 issue of fashion magazines worldwide coming out next month.

[/b]Rumour: ‘Iconography’ - title of Madonna’s Greatest Hits compilation ?[/b]

This column has been told that Madonna is getting ready to release her greatest hits album, Iconography, in September – possibly September 22. It will be her final album with Warner Brothers and it will contain three new songs.

The timing of the album’s release may be bad. Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey are going to be releasing albums around the same time. Whitney Houston’s Undefeated is due on September 1, one week after Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel.

Live at the O2: O2 transport updates

Fans travelling to The O2 for the first two concerts of Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour 2009 leg next weekend should be aware that the Jubilee line will be closed for upgrade works on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5 between the Green Park and Stratford stations of the London Underground, meaning that there are no services to North Greenwich where The O2 is.

This is a recurring situation that has happened for most of the week-ends so far, including those where concerts where taking place at The O2, so there is nothing to worry about but fans would probably check for alternative routes and solutions in advance.

There is a dedicated topic at the MadonnaTribe Forum you can check by clicking here, the online website of Transport for London can help with their Journey Planner service, and also the official site for the O2 Arena has released some useful information that you can read.

Madonna and Mercy: What Really Happened

On 12th June 2009, Malawi's Supreme Court of Appeal overturned an earlier ruling and granted Madonna's adoption of Mercy James. Ahead of the verdict presenter and journalist Jacques Peretti travelled through Malawi to find out why Madonna's bid to adopt Mercy has polarised opinion both in Malawi and around the world.
Madonna's lawyers were successful in their appeal when Malawi's Supreme Court upheld her application for adoption. This documentary looks at the future for Mercy as she prepares to move to New York with the pop star and asks what's best for Mercy. Should she have stayed in her orphanage in Malawi?
Prior to the latest ruling Peretti spoke exclusively to Mercy's father, James Kambewa, as well as her grandmother Lucy, who originally opposed the adoption, and her uncles, who signed the legal papers supporting it.
Peretti seeks to understand the complexities of this moral minefield and also speaks to the Executive Director of Madonna's charity Raising Malawi, which is based on Madonna's commitment to Kabbalah, and visits the orphanage where Mercy was placed.
Peretti follows events across Malawi as they developed, as one child's life hovered between privilege and poverty.

Madonna in new Vuitton ads

Marc Jacobs was so pleased with this spring's Louis Vuitton campaign featuring Madonna that he was eager to do an encore. "But very quickly Marc said, 'I want something completely different,'" related Antoine Arnault, Vuitton's communication director. The new ingredients included a dash of Tamara de Lempicka and a soupçon of Man Ray for color-drenched images by Steven Meisel with a surreal edge, thanks to generous use of solarization, a technique of overexposure first perfected by Ray. "It gives something very graphic, more edgy" than the first Madonna campaign, also by Meisel, which depicted her as a French coquette in a Parisian bistro setting, Arnault said. The new spots, which break in a range of August titles, feature a variety of runway looks and leather goods, many in the house's signature monogram.
Asked about the impact of the first Madonna campaign, Arnault said, snapping his fingers for emphasis, "Everything she was wearing in the first campaign was sold within a few months. People came into the store saying, 'I want the Madonna bag, the Madonna shoes." (source: WWD.com)

Madonna reinvents tour opening screens with Green Pink Caviar

Madonna fans heading to the latest leg of her Sticky & Sweet tour, which kicks back off in London on Saturday, are in for a surprise. The opening song, Candy Shop, will be performed under a pair of giant luscious, pink lips licking and sucking on sparkly gold, orange, silver and green goo. The nine-minute video, titled "Green Pink Caviar," is a new addition to the tour courtesy of artist Marilyn Minter, whose photographic work is in Madonna's personal collection. "When I heard Madonna might be interested [in the video], I said, 'Wow, how much does she want me to pay her?'" laughs Minter, who was initially told it was too late to insert anything into the tour. Apparently it was too good to resist and became part of the show.
"Then [Madonna] actually paid me a bunch of money and sent tickets," said Minter, who is on her way to the U.K. for her first-ever Madonna concert to see her video in action. (source: WWD.com)

Madonna tipped to sing Michael Jackson hit on tour

Star said to want to pay tribute to late King Of Pop

http://www.nowmagazine.co.uk/imageBank/cache/m/madonnamichaeljackson.jpg_e_f3a7c2adba52315d6ab61b 83a2cd478e.jpg

Madonna may incorporate a Michael Jackson song into one of her Sticky & Sweet gigs.

The singer performs in Bulgaria on 29 August - on what would've been the King Of Pop's 51st birthday.

‘We are quite sure Madonna will honour his memory on the very day he was born,’ a spokesman tells the Daily Record.

Her manager revealed she hoped to join Michael on stage during his This Is It tour at London's 02 arena.

Meanwhile, Madge's latest ads promoting Louis Vuitton's winter line have been unveiled.

Designer Marc Jacobs and photographer Steven Meisel are behind the campaign.

Christian Audigier to helm The Material Girl Project

Madonna's new clothing collection is for "seven-year-olds to 77-year-olds".
The 50-year-old popstar is teaming up with French fashion designer Christian Audigier - who has an eponymous label and is also behind the Von Dutch and Ed Hardy labels - on a new range, and is determined to make it suitable for all age groups.
Christian told BANG Showbiz: "Madonna and I are working on a new project called The Material Girl Project and I'm going to be a partner with her on it.
"It's going to come out, in September, when it's back to school time. So we are working on different designs and samples right now, so we're going to have most of that done at the end of the summer.
It's going to be for everyone, all ages. We're going for everyone, from seven-year-olds to 77-year-olds. We're not excluding anybody."
Christian - who is currently in London to launch his new range of champagne and wines - has been thrilled with the way the 4 Minutes singer has thrown herself into the collaboration, claiming she is full of ideas and has a clear vision for the line.
He explained: "Madonna is a good choice because she comes into it a total pro. If I need to listen to music, then I go and see Madonna because she is the best, so this is the same thing.
"Does she have loads of ideas? Oh, of course. I had a meeting a month ago with her and she is really all about the detail. She knows exactly what she likes and is always proposing ideas to us. After that she decides whether she wants to add shoes or other things. She's like me, when it's a, 'Yes,' it's a big, 'Yes.' When it's a, 'No,' it's a definite, 'No!' I like people like that, a lot of people are really critical but never give a solution. She is not like that." (source: Monsters and Critics)

Madonna : Mercy brings Madonna and Guy back ‘on talking terms’

Madonna’s newly adopted daughter Mercy James has reportedly managed to rekindle talking terms between the Queen of Pop and her former husband Guy Ritchie.

The singer was said to have invited the British director to meet the four-year-old, who recently stepped into her new life with her new siblings Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight and adopted David, three.

Guy was reported to have recently spent a night with the Material Girl and the tot.

“He met her at Madonna’s house and they bonded immediately. He nicknamed her Koala, as she has this habit of clinging to people and not letting go,” the Daily Star quoted a pal as saying.

Guy was also previously spotted accompanying Madonna and Mercy to the London Kabbalah Centre.

The couple officially parted ways earlier this year after a bitter divorce battle. (ANI)

Madonna repeated the infamous bunny ears that she wore in May to pose for an ad campaign for luxury brand Louis Vuitton. And this time the actress had other things to complement the bunny ears; she wore fingerless gloves and thigh-high boots. This was reported by the New York Daily News.

The Queen of Pop, when seen last in the bunny ears, faced the camera for a series of advertisements for Louis Vuitton's Fall 2009 campaign sporting romantic colours. And this time the actress wore it to the Met's Costume Institute Gala two months ago.

The Material Girl is also said to have showed off a pair of fishnets in a string of raunchy ads for the label's Spring 2009 collection.

What is your fave Madonna album?

Probably something more recent, like Confessions but in terms of singles I prefer some of the older songs.

Givenchy's Sticky and Sweet outfit for Madonna's tour

http://blogs.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/girlsbehavingstylishly/assets_c/2009/07/sketch%20in%20hi%20res%20300dpi-thumb-300x424.jpg

Check out what Madonna will be wearing for round two of her Sticky and Swet Tour which kicks off tomorrow night at the 02 London before hitting Manchester on Tuesday.
Designed by Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy Haute Couture it is a cropped jacket in black double silk satin and tulle embroidered with black jet stone fringes, pleated silk organza, guipure lace and black hand cut cellophane discs, worn with a matching open backed waistcoat set with jet encrusted straps.
Gorgeous but you really do need the figure for it.
Don't expect they'd wear it in Wigan!

Madonna plans Jackson tribute at London show

Madonna will perform a special tribute to Michael Jackson during her London show on Saturday, at the venue where he was due to stage his farewell shows, she said in a newspaper interview.
Madonna - known as the Queen of Pop, while Jackson was the King of Pop - told the Sun newspaper she was 'terribly sad' about Jackson's death and revealed she 'used to love picking his brains about musical stuff'.
She is playing London's O2 Arena Saturday and will feature extracts from Jackson's songs 'Billie Jean' and 'Wanna Be Startin' Something' plus pictures of the star, who died last week, the paper said.
Madonna and her dancers will also wear single white gloves - one of Jackson's most famous wardrobe accessories - during a finale of her hit 'Give It 2 Me'.
Jackson had been due to play some 50 sellout shows entitled 'This Is It' at the O2 venue starting this month.
'I am so terribly sad about Michael Jackson's death,' Madonna said in the interview. 'I don't know what artist wasn't inspired by him.'
'To be able to do what he did at such an early age was unearthly, everybody grew up in awe of him. To work with him and become friends and hang out with him was exciting for me.'
'I used to love picking his brains about musical stuff.'
Madonna said that before Jackson died, she had offered to do a duet with him at the O2 shows. 'I don't know what we could have done together, I could have carried his bags for him maybe,' she said.
