Man Utd to hijack Liverpool deal for Lavezzi
June - 2 - 2009
The Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool in this last week, but yesterday he issued a statement saying that he would respect his contract at the Italian side, but now it seems he has fallen out with Napoli management.
Today he has written an open letter to the Napoli fans which indicates that he will be leaving the club.
The Italian press have reported that Lavezzi’s agent has met with Man Utd representatives in Madrid to discuss a possible move to Old Trafford, but all the English media are suggesting that a move to Liverpool is imminent.
Lavezzi’s letter read: “I’m writing this letter to the fans who have always been close to me.
“It’s a difficult time and I hope that soon the situation will become clearer as much for you as for me.
“The only sure thing is that one day there won’t be either Lavezzi or Marino but there will always be this great club and this immense city simply because Napoli does not belong to anyone, it represents the synthesis of the sentiment of their fans’ dignity.
“Today I have to choose between dignity and a lack of respect, because of my loyalty to my upbringing without doubt I choose dignity.”
His agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, said: “There is a very real offer from a team who are playing in the Champions League and where he would earn much more than here.
“Marino (Napoli sporting director) had a strategy for arriving at the end of the season but he has not respected anything of what he promised.
“The lad wants to stay at Napoli. But for him what’s more important is dignity which is above contracts, national teams, money - above everything.
“If it was for the city and fans he would stay, 100%, but if it was for the relationship between us and the directors, it would be close to zero.”
The situation is very confused at the moment, but it looks like it will be difficult for Napoli to hold on to the Argentinian striker. The question then remains. Which club will he go to?

AC Milan are struggling to keep hold of star midfielder Kaka as reports emerged that Real Madrid had agreed a world record £56m transfer for the Brazilian.
"I don't know if we'll be able to keep Kaka at Milan because they offer him so much money," said club owner Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
Chelsea, whose new manager is former Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti, have also been linked with the 27-year-old.
Kaka's father and agent was in Madrid to seal the deal, according to reports.

Birmingham sign striker Benitez
Christian Benitez
Christian Benitez played at the 2006 World Cup for Ecuador
Premier League new boys Birmingham City have broken their transfer record to sign Ecuador striker Christian Benitez from Mexican club Santos Laguna.
The fee has not been disclosed but is thought to be more than the £6.25m they paid for striker Emile Heskey in 2004.
Personal terms have been agreed with Benitez who will travel to England for a medical with his new club next week.
Benitez, who is described as a creative player, has scored 31 goals in his past 58 Primera Division games.
The 23-year-old is the son of one of Ecuador's all-time leading goalscorers, Ermen Benitez, and played in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Owen Hargreaves may be forced to quit top-level football in the next two years if his chronic knee problem persists, BBC Sport understands.
The Manchester United and England midfielder has had two operations to cure a tendinitis problem in both knees but the pain has yet to subside.
It is believed the 28-year-old has not yet planned a return date but is still confident of making a full recovery.
He has had only 25 starts since a £17m move from Bayern Munich in July 2007.
Hargreaves, who was seen demonstrating his ball skills during United's warm-up for the Champions League final in Rome on 27 May, has not featured for Sir Alex Ferguson's side since their 1-1 draw with Chelsea on 21 September 2008.
He underwent surgery on his right knee last November and then on his left knee in January.
The procedures were carried out under the guidance of leading American knee surgeon Richard Steadman, who has previously operated on former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer, current Magpies forward Michael Owen and ex-Red Devils striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is now at Real Madrid.
Ferguson has previously said that he was "certain" Hargreaves would be fit for the beginning of the 2009-2010 campaign but it is now believed there is little chance of that happening.

Robert Green is facing stiff competition as West Ham's number one keeper
West Ham have secured the services of Hungary Under-21 goalkeeper Peter Kurucz on a four-year deal from Ujpest FC for an undisclosed fee.
The 21-year-old has been on loan with the Hammers from the Budapest side since February.

QPR appoint Magilton as manager
Jim Magilton
Magilton was replaced as Ipswich manager by Roy Keane
Queens Park Rangers have appointed former Ipswich boss Jim Magilton as their new manager.
The 40-year-old former Northern Ireland international, who left Portman Road in April, has signed a two-year deal at Loftus Road.
He told the club's website: "I'm really looking to the challenge of managing this great football club.
"The board are highly ambitious but they are very realistic, I have huge ambitions to achieve though."
Magilton took Ipswich to 14th in the Championship table in his first season and eighth last term but was sacked in April after failing to secure a play-off spot.
The Tractor Boys finished the season in ninth place and 12 points off the play-off zone and Magilton was soon replaced by Roy Keane.
QPR took 11th spot in the Championship this season, five points behind Magilton's former club.
Magilton added: "Our aim is to keep progressing, year after year.
Stale' fear spurred Barry move
Gareth Barry
Barry played over 400 games for Villa, scoring 52 goals
England midfielder Gareth Barry has explained his £12m move from Aston Villa to Manchester City, saying he had a "massive fear of going stale".
In an open letter to Villa's fans published in the Birmingham Mail on Wednesday, Barry said: "I want the chance to explain my decision.
"I have a massive fear of going stale and falling into a comfort zone.
"After changing my mind lots of times I came to the decision that the time was right for me and the club to part."
The future of the 28-year-old has been a constant source of speculation over the past 12 months, with Liverpool pursuing the signature of the former Brighton trainee throughout the summer of 2008.
Barry stated his desire to join the Reds, but with Rafa Benitez unable to match Villa's valuation, then set at £18m, the England international announced that he would stay at Villa Park in August.

Not long to wait for the new season... Liverpool's season!
Just using a bit of common sense/assumption here but a couple of days ago rafa made a bid for Lavezzi, and lavezzi promptly came out to the press and said he wanted to stay and loved the club etc etc. If anything he seemed dismissive, meaning i very much doubt rafa would go back in for him as he only goes for players who are dedicated to the club. THEN man u made a bid for lavezzi, which i presume was turned down because lavezzi NOW says he wants to leave as he has been "disrespected" by the board (im assuming by rejecting the man u bid). Putting two and two together and probably getting three, my money is on lavezzi replacing tevez at old trafford, which wouldn't be bad for the red fiends as hes well larey and pretty silky as well to be fair. One QPR fan said on sky sports news that QPR have loads of money... ??
Man Utd possible targets for transfers:
Looking back at the 08/09 season, SAF would probably be wise to look for a player in these positions:
RB – We need a decent rightback that can replace Gary Neville and letting Rafael grow maturely into his game.
MF – After reading the news on the recovery of Owen Hargreaves,it seems we may want to get ourselves equipped with a holding midfielder a.k.a the Keano's,Viera's type. Those who can pass the ball well too.
ST – the position in which is highly important in the case of a)ronaldo leaves b)teves leaves(seems like it). So after reading the long list of candidates rumoured, yes. . benzema for me would be a great signing though im not comfirming on any rumours here.
Therefore, here we wait anxiously for United to make their 1st signing of this summer.Who will it be?

I want ot see Rafa trimming our squad right back and giving some promising youngsters a go.
Pacheco, spearing and Nemmeth in particular.
Sell Plessis (1.5m), Voronin (3m), arbeloa(p ex / 7m)Dossena (4m), Degan (1m), Leto (2m), Babel(p ex / 8m), p anderson (.6m). . .
Now that Barry has chosen to go to city, i think alonso'll stay put.
I can see arbeloa leaving after his bust up with carra, and his ommision from the squad last home game – he also complained of being homesick last year. Carra to cover right back with Johnson (10m).
Aguerro to arrive for arbeloa, and babel + around £16m. he'll give cover to torres and play inplace of riera when torres is fit.
No need for any cm, I'm bored of hearing people slag off Lucas. He's been made a scape goat for this season and has played well since christmas.
No need for full backs – insua and darby are both quality, and i'd be pleased to see dossena and degan both go to raise funds.
A johnson to come in and compete for the wings (6m) but other then that we're sorted.

to all those liverpool fans who were sure you were getting gareth barry well how miss informed you were, or maybe you were making things up? either way you clearly know nothing about football. he has joined manchester city on a 4 year deal on £90,000 a week for a fee in the region of £12million.
players who will follow him to eastlands include:
tevez – £25 million
carvalho – £6 million
lescott – p.ex for dunne+jo
benzema (shock) – £27 million
that is it, they are not buying a whole new sqaud but qaulity in moderation.
liverpool will however make 3 signings after missing out on tevez and barry, these three will be:
glen johnson – £13 million
david silva – £26 million
ezquiel lavezzi – £19.5 million
SERGIO AGUERO IS NOT LEAVING DURING THIS WINDOW, and even if he was rafa cannot afford him!
a couple of other transfers i have news on is john obi mikel will be playing for inter next season, around 15 million should see that one through, and also deco will be playing at white heart lane next season, around 6 million for this one.
CR7 will stay at united and madrid will get ribery instead as there galactico signing, followed by imbrahimovic.

Tottenham News
Harry has enquired about Sneijder after Perez was elected, due to the fact he wants rid of the current squad and was quoted for 18m, although Bayern and Inter have shown interest.
I also know that Harry wants a new striker with both Pav and Bent departing. Suprisingly he wants to reunite the Berbatov/Keane partnership, with Berba looking to move on after his spell at United. He would be looking for Champions League football, but Harry feels the chance to return to a club that raised him, plus the option of first team football hard to refuse. If this fails, Pav will not leave.
Thirdly, Dario Srna is a possibility as he can play left back and despite winning the UEFA cup with Donetsk wants to play in te premier league. We have asked for a price and were quoted at 12m, although Harry would prefer to pay about 7/8m.
Expect Bent,Bentley,Jenas,Boateng,Zokora,Chimbonda and possibly Pav to leave to allow this level of spending.

Man United may pursue a bid to sign 34 year old Brazilian Juninho after he was released from Lyon. United are considering offering him a 1 year deal with the possibility of a second year. Young Brazilian centre half Dodo is set to sign for United next season for a fee believed to be around £6m. Antonio Valencia will be targeted but not for anywhere near the £20m mark. United may bid as high as £15m and offer Wigan either Nani, Tosic or Campbell on loan as part of the deal. Adam Johnson is also being watched. With Carlos Tevez set to leave on June 30th, United are looking at strikers, but nobody who will break the bank. Sanli Tuncay from 'Boro may be targetted as he is a similar player to Tevez and would be available for near the £8m mark but United may also bid for Edin Dzeko because Real Madrid would not consider selling Huntelaar to Man Utd without asking for Ronaldo in some form of a deal. Douglas Costa may also be signed then loaned out to Sporting Lisbon for a year, with United getting first option on Joao Moutinho for next season to replace Juninho.

Rafa wants. .
– Tom Huddlestone because of his good passing ability like alsonso and his sweet strike of a football.
–van der vart as he is on the bench for madrid and unhappy. Good creative player to unlock por teams at anfield.
–javi Martinez good holding midfielder. Martinez or Huddlestone
–David Silva same reason as van der vart and valencia need the money
–lavezzi or kleber second striker to bring off the bench and when torres is injured
–Glen Johnson good quality right back as no cover for arbeloa now finnan has left

MAN CITY BOSS HUGHES EYES TEVEZ DEAL
Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has confirmed his interest in signing Carlos Tevez.
Tevez's future has been the subject of constant speculation with his two-year loan deal at Manchester United expiring at the end of the campaign.
United have first refusal on signing the striker, but they are thought to be reluctant to pay the price-tag on the Argentina international's head.
Reports suggest City are ready to meet the asking price for the former West Ham forward and Hughes admits he would be interested in signing Tevez if he becomes available.
"Carlos Tevez is a good player. If good players become available then obviously every manager is interested," Hughes told Sky Sports News.
Meanwhile, Hughes has admitted Daniel Sturridge could be on his way out of Eastlands.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for the 19-year-old forward, who has so far failed to agree a new deal at City.
Hughes admits Sturridge's future is out of his hands as the player is now a free agent.
"We are not in a position to dictate that [Sturridge's future] really," added Hughes. "We have offered Daniel a deal that we think is at the level he should be at.
"He is in a strong position because he is in the last year of his contract
"He is keeping his options open, which he has done for quite some time, we just have to wait and see.
"Obviously I have made my intentions very clear to him I would like him to stay but it may be out of our hands."
PATO WANTS TO STAY AT MILAN
Alexandre Pato, who is reportedly a £45million transfer target for Chelsea, says he wants to stay at AC Milan and "win everything".
The 19-year-old Brazilian - who scored 15 goals in Serie A last season - is being strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge to follow manager Carlo Ancelotti.
But he told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I have read the reports linking me with Chelsea, but my agent and the club deal with this type of thing. I want to win everything with Milan."
The striker also commented on reports linking Kaka with a move away from Milan, saying: "I just hope that everybody will be happy in the end: Kaka, Milan and Real. Or, perhaps, even Chelsea, who are also interested in 'Ricky'.
"I'm sure that Kaka will make the right choice for him and for Milan."
Barry - joined City for £12million.
BARRY: I NEEDED A NEW CHALLENGE
Gareth Barry has admitted the fear of "going stale and falling into a comfort zone" was a major factor in him deciding to quit Aston Villa and join Manchester City in a £12million move.
And the England midfielder revealed the regret he felt in not being able to help bring trophy glory to the Villa Park outfit for whom he made 440 appearances.
But he is confident that he can achieve such goals with City after holding talks with manager Mark Hughes despite being made a "fantastic" new contract offer by Villa.
Barry, who came close to moving to Liverpool last summer, took the unusual step of explaining his reasons to leave Villa after 12 years in a letter to the Birmingham Mail.
He wrote: "After all the speculation over the last 12 months, I want the chance to explain my decision to the Aston Villa fans.
"I want to thank them for the incredible support I have received over the last 12 years and this football club has been a huge part of my life.
"I joined as a 16-year-old boy and 12 years later I am moving on as a 28-year-old man with a wife and two children. A lot of things have changed in that time - players, management and a chairman.
"But every season bar none, whether we have been bottom half, mid-table or challenging for Europe, the support myself and the team have received has been fantastic.
"My one huge regret is that during my time at this club we have not brought the fans the success they deserve and I obviously have to take my share of responsibility that we have not been good enough to win trophies.
"I feel the club is in the best position it has been in during my time here. I think we have a group of very good young players, we have a fantastic chairman who is here for the good of the club, and one of the best managers in the game."
Barry added: "Obviously people will ask why I am leaving if I feel like that. I have honestly been very undecided what to do.
"The manager and the whole club have bent over backwards to try and persuade me to stay and made me a fantastic offer which I am extremely grateful for.
"But, after changing my mind lots of times, I came to the decision that the time was right for me and for the club to part company.
"I need a new challenge, I have a massive fear of going stale and falling into a comfort zone.
"I believe the deal is a good one for the club. I am sure the manager will use the money well to strengthen the team and the club will go from strength to strength. I am also excited now about my new challenge."
Barry had spoken of his desire to play Champions League football and admitted: "A lot of people will question my decision to join Manchester City.
"They were the club prepared to meet the valuation which, for a 28-year-old with a year left on his contract I think shows how much they wanted me.
"Once I had spoke to Mark Hughes, there was nowhere else I wanted to go, I was also desperate to avoid any long drawn-out saga. I feel I am joining a club that will seriously challenge to win major honours.
"People might doubt that, but I am convinced with the plans the club has short term and long term, and the backing the manager will receive from the owners, that we will be a major force."
Barry also feels he will have the best chance of staking a claim to be part of the England team at the 2010 World Cup under the role he will be operated in by Hughes.
He said: "Also the World Cup has always been a major part of my thinking and I feel at Man City I will get the chance to play regularly in my best position and play a big part in a successful side.
"Time will tell if I am right or not, but those are my reasons."
Barry insists he will be leaving Villa on good terms this summer after all the speculation surrounding the move to Anfield 12 months ago.
He said: "I have grown bored of all the speculation surrounding me over the last 12 months and I am sure all the fans have as well. I am glad I never left last summer because I would have left under a huge cloud. This year I feel things are different.
"I haven't used an agent. I have discussed things with my best friend but ultimately made my own choices and I think the situation has been handled properly by everybody involved and once again I have to thank the manager and the club for that.
"I genuinely wish the club all the best for the future, and want to thank everyone who has helped and supported me in my time here. For the rest of my life, Aston Villa will be the first result I look for."
PRESSLEY EYES CELTIC COACHING POST
Steven Pressley revealed he would relish a return to Celtic as part of their new management team after announcing he was hanging up his boots.
The 35-year-old Falkirk defender is calling time on his 19-year playing career and wants to go straight into full-time coaching.
Pressley, who won the double with Celtic in 2007 during an 18-month spell there, believes he is ready to walk straight into a big job, including working under Gordon Strachan's successor at Parkhead.
He said: "It's a very attractive proposition and if the opportunity came around to assist somebody at Celtic then of course I'd be very interested.
"I feel confident in my own ability to do that type of job and if the right man comes along that needs assistance then hopefully I'll be that man."
Pressley is already an assistant to Scotland boss George Burley and has been studying for his UEFA Pro Licence for the past year.
So self-confident is he, the former Hearts captain would even have no fears about taking over the managerial reins at the likes of Aberdeen and Hibernian.
"I believe that I'm ready for management but I'm not ruling anything out," said Pressley, before conceding his eight-year spell at Tynecastle would probably prevent him becoming Hibs boss.
"If the right coaching opportunity came along then I'd definitely be interested.
"But, at this moment in time, I have a belief in my own ability to manage or coach and I'll definitely consider any opportunity.
"I've got my own ideas about how a club should function and a team should function and I do genuinely believe that I'm ready to take on that type of responsibility."
Pressley, who insisted he had not applied for any job, was more coy about the prospect of taking over at Falkirk should John Hughes leave this summer.
He said: "The one thing for sure is that I have a great deal of respect for John as a person and as a manager and to comment on his position would be wrong."
Pressley has been preparing for a move into management for some time, revealing he had reached the decision to retire "several months ago".
He added: "To be honest, it was a relatively easy decision for myself and that's why I knew it was the correct time.
"My involvement with the national team, my involvement in the UEFA Pro Licence has certainly whetted my appetite.
"I'm far more motivated by that than the playing of the game.
"And also, physically, I felt that I could no longer produce the types of performances that I expect of myself and I just thought it was the right time in my career to close that book and start another chapter."
Pressley started his senior career at Rangers in 1990 and went on to play for Coventry and Dundee United before joining Hearts in 1998.
It was at Tynecastle where he made the most impact, spending eight years there and becoming club captain.
After lifting the Scottish Cup in 2006, he left controversially at the end of that year when he and team-mates Craig Gordon and Paul Hartley publicly criticised majority shareholder Vladmir Romanov.
After his spell at Celtic, Pressley had a four-month stint at Danish side Randers late last year, which was followed by a return to Scotland with Falkirk, who he helped avoid Clydesdale Bank Premier League relegation this season.
Pressley also earned 32 Scotland caps between 2000 and 2006.
Asked about his career highs and lows, he said: "Once you finish playing, I don't believe there are any low points. I think former players never tend to have bad games, do they?
"In their own minds, they never made mistakes.
"All my experiences very much helped me as a person and developed me as a person and I've been very fortunate to be in that type of environment.
"Highs? Possibly the highlight was leading Hearts to the Scottish Cup in 2006.
"With my association with the club at that time, I think that it was a truly memorable moment for myself."
Pressley believes his taking a stand against Romanov three years ago showed he would have what it takes to be a manager.
"I found myself at Hearts managing many situations that I think has certainly benefited me," he said.
"As a person, I've always had very high morals and very high values.
"I've grown to understand people over the course of my career and I think all these factors, along with the tactical aspects, have made me very keen to be involved in coaching and management."
LATICS STEP UP MARTINEZ INTEREST
Wigan chairman Dave Whelan feels "devastated" by the departure of manager Steve Bruce to Sunderland but insists the club will move on quickly.
Bruce was finally confirmed as Black Cats boss when the Wearsiders agreed a suitable compensation package with the Latics following two days of negotiations.
"Everyone associated with Wigan is devastated that Steve and Eric have gone, we would be lying if we said any different," said Whelan.
"But things can change very quickly and I have always said I would not stand in anyone's way who wishes to leave the club, as long as the terms are in the best interest of Wigan.
"What Steve has achieved here over the past 18 months has been magnificent.
"After a period of instability, he put the team in order and started laying the foundations for a prosperous future.
"We finished in our second-highest ever league position this season and this is something we will be looking to build upon going forward."
Whelan's most important job now is to get the right man to take over.
He has already approached Swansea to speak to their highly-rated manager Roberto Martinez but was taken aback by the £2million-plus compensation fee demanded by the south Wales club.
However, that does not mean Whelan, a successful businessman, will not negotiate hard if he feels the Spaniard is the best candidate.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins admits the two parties are "miles apart" in their valuation of the 35-year-old former Wigan player.
"Wigan asked for permission to speak to Roberto. They asked what compensation we would be looking for and we talked about different figures," he told the Press Association.
"I told them what I valued Roberto at and they told me what they thought - we were miles apart to say the least.
"I have not given them permission to talk to Roberto."
Other names being linked to the vacancy include Peterborough's Darren Ferguson, who has just guided his side to promotion from League One, and former manager Paul Jewell.
Whelan hopes to be able to make inroads in his search over the next week but is conscious he cannot afford to get it wrong - as he did when he promoted Chris Hutchings from within when Jewell quit in May 2007.
"As for a new manager, we have several options to consider and we will be talking to clubs and candidates over the next seven days," added the Wigan chairman.
"We will not rush the appointment as it is a decision not to be taken lightly."
LEEDS DENY MAGPIES BECKFORD BID
Leeds chairman Ken Bates has revealed he has received no inquiries about striker Jermaine Beckford.
Beckford, who scored 34 goals this season, has turned down a new three-year deal at Elland Road with just a year of his current contract to run.
Newcastle have been linked with a £2million move for the 25-year-old, but Bates told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "We have had no inquiries yet, but that is not unusual at this time because the season has just ended and most managers, scouts and coaches are away winding down.
"They come back in the middle of June and start thinking.
"But we are in no hurry. Jermaine is with us until June 2010 and if we don't get what we consider to be a reasonable offer, we will keep him."

Barry is in, now Hughes wants more.
CITY BOSS HUGHES TARGETS MORE DEALS
Manchester City manager Mark Hughes is keen to complete some more early summer transfer business following the £12million arrival of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa.
The 28-year-old England international has signed a five-year contract at Eastlands having completed a successful medical.
Barry, who was a target for Liverpool last summer, leaves Villa after 12 years and more than 400 matches.
Hughes said: "I was looking to get a number of deals done as soon as possible and we have had a great start with Gareth joining us.
"I hope we can conclude some more so that when we come back for pre-season training we have everybody fit and well and set for a successful campaign."
Barry said he joined City because their ambition matched his own.
Currently with the England squad preparing for a World Cup qualifier in Kazakhstan on Saturday, he told City's official website. "I'm delighted to be joining City.
"It didn't take much persuasion from Mark Hughes, they are heading in the direction I want to go.
"There is great potential here, and I'm sure there will be a few more additions to the squad this summer."
Club captain Richard Dunne welcomed Barry on board.
"I heard he was in talks with the club, he is a really good player and a player the Aston Villa fans will really miss, " said the Republic of Ireland defender.
"It shows the pulling power of the club. It's the sort of signing the manager is looking for - players with Premier League experience who can push the squad on."
Barry had publicly stated he wanted to play in the Champions League and manager Martin O'Neill knew it would be difficult to hang on to the player should one of the top four come calling.
However, Barry's decision to join the revolution - bankrolled by Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan - being undertaken by Hughes at Eastlands will have come as a shock to Neill and Villa fans alike.
City have not even qualified for next season's revamped Europa League and some supporters are certain to believe Barry has moved because of the £80,000-a-week salary at Eastlands.
But it is understood Barry has received assurances regarding the quality of player Hughes is looking to bring in this summer to help establish City as major force.
And he is likely to be assured of regular first-team football - a crucial factor in the build-up to the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, assuming England qualify.
Hughes said: "Gareth is widely acknowledged as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League and that is a recommendation in itself.
"With Gareth we get the experience of someone who has played week-in, week-out in the hardest league in the world.
"He plays at a level that has an impact on the game and we are thrilled he is joining us."

PARK: I'M STAYING AT UNITED
Park Ji-Sung has denied rumours that he is set to quit Manchester United for a lucrative offer to join Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.
The 28-year-old was one of a host of players said to be on their way out of Old Trafford after the Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.
Despite a poor showing in Rome the South Korean has arguably played his best football in a United shirt - since joining from PSV for £4million in July 2005 - in the months leading up to the final.
Now settled in England Park highlighted that he wanted to continue plying his trade in Europe and that he had heard nothing of the proposed Al-Jazira switch.
"That's the first time I heard that. It's not true," he told Goal.com. "I want to stay and play in Europe."
SAHA EYES NEW EVERTON DEAL
Louis Saha is hoping to play a major part in Everton's future by earning a new long-term deal.
The French striker joined the Toffees from Manchester United last summer on a two-year 'pay-as-you-play' contract.
Having seen his time at Old Trafford disrupted by injury, David Moyes was reluctant to offer Saha a regular deal.
The 30-year-old once again found himself on the treatment table at regular intervals last season, but did manager 14 Premier League appearances this season, scoring six goals.
Saha also made history last Saturday as he scored the fastest ever goal in an FA Cup final.
His early strike was unable to prevent the Toffees slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea, although he did waste a glorious second half opportunity, with the scores tied at 1-1, to hand Everton the advantage.
He admits that miss still weighs on his mind, but he is determined to look to the future - a future he hopes will be at Goodison Park.
"I wish I had hit the target but it wasn't to be," Saha said in The Sun.
"I'll have to move on from that and hope I can prove I'm worth a long stay with Everton."
ROSSI: I'M LEAVING LAZIO
Delio Rossi has announced he is quitting as Lazio coach.
The 48-year-old led the Biancocelesti to their first trophy in five years this season, beating Sampdoria on penalties in the Coppa Italia final.
However, he confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that he is leaving the capital club after four seasons in charge.
"Next year I will not be Lazio coach any more," Rossi told stadionews.it. "Tonight I will meet with president (Claudio) Lotito and tell him my decision.
"Tomorrow, most probably, I will call a press conference to announce my decision to the media."
Speculation has been rife that Rossi will switch jobs with Davide Ballardini, who revealed he wants to leave Palermo at the weekend.
However, the former Lecce and Atalanta coach insists he has no destination in mind.
"Before looking for any other club I want to sort out the situation with Lazio," Rossi added. "I am pleased with (Palermo president Maurizio) Zamparini's appreciation but it is still too early to talk about a future destination."
PEDERSEN HOPES TO EARN NEW DEAL
Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen has revealed his intention to earn a new contract at Ewood Park when his current deal expires next summer.
The Norway international has spent the last five years with the Lancashire outfit and he has admitted he would be happy to prolong his stay.
Pedersen accepts that this season a turbulent year for Rovers, with Sam Allardyce brought in midway through the season to rectify the failings of Paul Ince, but the 27-year-old believes the club are heading in the right direction.
"There were a lot of poor performances under Ince, but Allardyce has helped to bring back consistency and results have improved," Pedersen told Aftenposten.
"I have a year left on my contract and I like it at Blackburn."
On the possibility of penning an extension, he added: "We have talked about it, but not sat down yet.
"I know they want to talk about an extension, so I am calm at the moment."
Pedersen has also welcomed the recent arrival of South African star Elrio van Heerden to Ewood Park, insisting competition for places is precisely what the club needs to establish.
"It's good to have competition. Buying and selling is part of football," he said.
"I can play several positions and I plan to keep playing regularly next season."
ADVOCAAT TO TAKE BELGIUM JOB
Dick Advocaat has confirmed he is leaving Zenit St Petersburg to become Belgium coach.
The Dutchman has turned down the offer of a new deal with the Russian side to return to the international scene.
"I have told them that pressing me is no use. I have chosen to be the coach of Belgium," Advocaat told newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws on Wednesday.
The Belgium FA (KBVB) revealed the appointment of the former Holland boss is not yet official, but they are hopeful of unveiling him soon.
"He only needs to get the number of his pension fund," said KBVB board member Philippe Collin.
"But nothing can take place before Friday because until then the KBVB chairman (Francois De Keersmaecker) and (chief executive) Jean-Marie Philips are in the Bahamas."
Belgium's players welcomed Advocaat's arrival.
"He is someone with personality," said PSV Eindhoven midfielder Timmy Simons.
"He is a quiet man, but when he doesn't like something, you must be careful. I have nothing against him being a man from outside of Belgium. It's important that he has charisma. "
Simons felt it was logical for the KBVB to opt for a Dutch coach.
"Dutch national team coaches have something that others don't have, it's no coincidence that they lead national teams all over the world," he said.
AZ Alkmaar's Maarten Martens added: "I have played against Zenit with AZ. He likes to play attacking football.
"A Dutchman is in my opinion a good thing, they are known for their training methods and their tactical ability.
"And he is a coach with experience."

Man City will need more big signings if they want to be in the top 4..
JACOBSEN READY FOR CONTRACT TALKS
Everton defender Lars Jacobsen will hold talks over a new deal with David Moyes when he returns from international duty with Denmark.
The Danes take on Scandinavian rivals Sweden on Saturday in a World Cup qualifier as Jacobsen hopes to steer them towards an automatic route to South Africa.
The full-back has had his first-team opportunities limited through injuries in his debut season at Goodison Park and has had offers from other clubs as his one-year deal nears an end.
However, Jacobsen insists his wish is to remain at the club and will hold talks with the boss when he returns.
"Everton comes first for me, if we can find a way to proceed," Jacobsen told Sporten.dk.
"I've had a meeting with David Moyes and we have arranged for a new meeting after the qualifying game. Then we will see if we can get a new deal in place.
"Right now I am only concentrating on the qualifier and don't want to waste time and energy on negotiating with Everton before the game is played.
"The game against Sweden is big, because it's one of my biggest goals in my career to get to a World Cup."
The 29-year-old has admitted that he has no shortage of admirers and should talks with Everton break down he would be willing to remain in English football.
"I have other possibilities, both in England and other countries if things don't fall out as I hope with Everton," said Jacobsen.
"I can see myself playing for another club in Premier League, because I like the mentality and the game."
Jacobsen was a substitute in last week's FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea, coming on to replace Tony Hibbert at half-time and says despite the loss, he enjoyed the experience.
He added: "I was really annoyed not to start in the FA Cup final, but I got substituted on at half-time. It was a great experience, even though we lost to Chelsea.
"90,000 fans at Wembley is something you've only seen on TV before."
COLOGNE: WE COULD NOT KEEP DAUM
Cologne general manager Michael Meier admitted "nothing could be done" to convince Christoph Daum to stay on as coach after he received a lucrative offer from abroad.
Daum resigned as coach of the Bundesliga side on Monday after receiving an offer, believed to be from Turkish giants Fenerbahce, that was too good to turn down.
"I told him that we would do all we could to keep him, but we had no chance," said Meier.
"He told me he had already signed a new contract.
"He said that it was a sensational offer financially and he could not forgive himself, nor would his family forgive him, if he said no."
However, Meier insisted there he felt no resentment towards the man who led Cologne into the Bundesliga last season and kept them there this year.
Asked by the Express newspaper if he was angry, he said: "Why should I be? Christoph received a four-year contract which was so lucrative that it made him weak at the knees.
"Furthermore, he can get to work at a top European club."
Although the fans will find it hard to forgive Daum for walking out on the club, Cologne president Wolfgang Overath thanked Daum for the work he had done.
"He took over the club in a difficult phase in the second division in 2006 and led us back into the Bundesliga," he said.
"By securing a safe 12th-placed finish, he has carried FC Cologne's development forward.
"We wish Christoph good luck with his new task."
Germany striker Lukas Podolski, who has rejoined home Cologne from Bayern Munich for the coming season, does not believe Daum's departure will harm the club.
"Cologne will not collapse because of this," he said after Germany's friendly win over the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday night.
"It came as a shock, but I am sure Cologne will find the right man to replace him and still be able to reach the goals we have set."
AUSTIN EYES VILLA SWITCH
Brann midfielder Rodolph Austin has admitted a move to Aston Villa is "tempting" after being linked with a switch to the Premier League club.
Villa scouts are said to have attended Brann's clash against Stromsgodse on Tuesday in order to have a closer look at Jamaica international Austin.
The 23-year-old is flattered by the reported interest, with Villa thought to be in the market for Gareth Barry's replacement, but he remains committed to his current club.
Austin told Dagbladet: "All players want to play in the Premier League, so of course me to. I didn't know that Aston Villa were here, but even if it is tempting, I am keeping to the contract I have in Brann."
Brann sports director Roald Bruun-Hansen added: "We have given Aston Villa tickets for some of our games, and know of the interest.
"But there are no concrete talks, and far from any offers so we are keeping our pace. It is normal for clubs to look at players and keep an eye on the market at this time."

Wonder when work starts on new Liverpool stadium.
BOATENG EXPECTS SPURS RETURN
Kevin-Prince Boateng expects to start next season at Tottenham after failing to secure a permanent deal at Borussia Dortmund.
The midfielder joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan in the January transfer window but the club will not make the move permanent after failing to qualify for the Europa League.
Boateng's time at Dortmund was blighted by injury and manager Michael Zork admitted in March that he felt the player was overpriced.
The midfielder has failed to make an impact in the Premier League since his £5.4million move from Hertha Berlin in 2007 under then-boss Martin Jol, but can confirm that he is set to return to Spurs next term.
"I have just heard from my advisor that there is no future for me at Dortmund," he told German Newspaper Bild.
"I will probably have to start next season back at Spurs."
MILLER CALLS FOR PATIENCE
Aberdeen director of football Willie Miller has urged fans to be patient as the club continue their search for a new manager.
Miller claims the number of vacancies that have arisen since Jimmy Calderwood left Pittodrie a week and a half ago are making the job of finding the 54-year-old's successor more difficult.
He told the club's official website: "The simple fact is, these things do take a bit of time.
"The fact there are several senior vacancies up for grabs at present probably hasn't helped either."
Motherwell manager Mark McGhee, who has also been linked with the Celtic job, remains the favourite for the post but he insisted on Tuesday he had heard nothing from either club.
Falkirk's John Hughes, Plymouth's Paul Sturrock and Wigan assistant Eric Black have also been linked with the vacancy, while former Aberdeen players Lee Richardson and Noel Whelan have declared their interest.
"I know patience is not something that sits easily in football but that really is the message right now," said Miller, who yesterday expressed delight at the calibre of applicants for the role.
"The fact nobody has been appointed yet has not affected plans for the new season in that we are currently finalising our pre-season plans and the players are all aware of what is expected of them in terms of fitness levels on their return.
"I am working flat out to finalise matters and as soon as I have done that, we will be in a position to make an announcement ahead of what I am confident will be an exciting era for the club."
Miller said on Tuesday former international managers, former Scotland players, ex-international players from throughout Europe and people working in the Barclays Premier League had already submitted applications.
He also revealed there had been expressions of interest from former UEFA Cup winners and from Holland, Poland and the Faroe Islands.
Calderwood left Pittodrie 10 days ago, hours after leading them into the Europa League with a 2-1 victory over Hibernian in the final game of his five-year reign.
Aberdeen players will return to training on June 29, with a pre-season tour of Austria planned, while their season begins in the Europa League qualifiers on July 30.
NOGUES LEAVES BETIS POST
Jose Maria Nogues has resigned as coach of Real Betis following their relegation to the Segunda Division.
The 50-year-old was offered the opportunity to remain at the helm of the Verdiblancos despite the loss of their top-flight status, but he felt he should stand down.
"I have agreed not to continue because my staying on was subject to the team's survival," he said. "I could not achieve the goal.
"I understand the situation of the club and it is advisable to start afresh."
Big-spending Betis were one of five teams who were fighting against joining Numancia and Recreativo Huelva in suffering the drop, and they held a one-point advantage over fellow strugglers Osasuna and Sporting Gijon heading into the final round of matches.
However, while Osasuna and Sporting both managed wins in their matches, Betis could only draw 1-1 at home to another team battling relegation, Real Valladolid.
That meant Betis finished level on 42 points with Getafe, who drew 1-1 with Racing Santander, but it was the Andalusian side who dropped through the trapdoor due to an inferior goal difference of just one.
CRUZEIRO REJECT KLEBER RUMOURS
Brazilian outfit Cruzeiro insist they have received no approach for star striker Kleber.
The player had announced on Monday that he was the subject of a 7million euros (£6million) offer from Liverpool.
However, his current employers have reported that no such bid has been lodged, and claim they would not be prepared to do business for anything less than 15million euros (£13million).
Kleber is keen for the issue to be settled, but has admitted that he would be happy to strike a deal with a European club this summer should an opportunity arise.
"I don't want to speak about this anymore, it's getting annoying," said the former Dynamo Kiev forward.
"Quite soon, if we start playing badly, the fans will start to say it's because I want out.
"If there was an offer, it would be good for me and Cruzeiro.
"My agent (Pepe) and Zeze (Perrella, club president) are going to sit down and sought this out."

Higginbotham - wants to stay at Stoke.
HIGGINBOTHAM HAPPY AT STOKE
Stoke defender Danny Higginbotham has labelled rumours of a possible move to Ipswich as "pie in the sky".
Ipswich manager Roy Keane was responsible for bringing the 30-year-old to Sunderland in 2007, only for the defender to re-join Stoke last September.
Keane has been heavily linked with signing the left-back this summer, but Higginbotham insists he is going nowhere.
Higginbotham told the Sentinel: "This is where I have been happiest. I really enjoyed last season.
"These reports are pie in the sky and, besides, I don't see any reason why I would want to move.
"I played 30 games last season in the best league in the world and we finished 12th. Now I want to be part of the club's success for the next few years."

Kaka should see it will be better for him joining Chelsea, plus back with his old manager, champions league every year, huge wage packet!
ELANO: INTER WANT TO SIGN ME
Manchester City midfielder Elano admits he is open to a move to Inter Milan and claims talks have already begun.
The Brazilian, who was signed by former City boss Sven Goran Eriksson from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2007, was in and out of Mark Hughes' team last term and has revealed his wish is for a move to San Siro.
"There is an opened negotiation," he told Gazetta dello Sport.
"I like Inter a lot. Sure, I'm bounded with a contract with Manchester City, but I hope Nerazzurri officials won't stop facing to this - I would like to wear the Inter jersey."
The 27-year-old, who netted five Premier League goals last season, has also revealed his admiration for Inter boss Jose Mourinho and hopes that his compatriots within the club can help swing the deal.
"He's great [Mourinho]. His sides have always left a sign. And all the players who have played with him consider him a phenomenon," said Elano.
"Inter have a big coach but also many great champions. I hope my friend Julio Cesar could spend a word in my favour."
REPORT: NEW CONTRACT OFFER FOR DROGBA
Striker Didier Drogba will be offered a new three-year contract by Chelsea.
Contrary to media speculation that the Blues were not prepared to hand him a fresh long-term deal, one will be put before the Ivory Coast international within the next week, according to PA Sport.
Drogba is seen by Chelsea as being irreplaceable and has proved his worth to the capital club yet again this season.
Despite his earlier problems with former boss Luiz Felipe Scolari, Drogba returned to his best form under the managerial tenure of interim coach Guus Hiddink.
He was at the centre of controversy following Chelsea's Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona when he confronted Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo after the final whistle.
Drogba's foul-mouthed rant was seen by millions as he swore straight at the TV cameras.
However Chelsea have been impressed by his behaviour since the incident, for which he apologised almost immediately.
Chelsea now believe that it is better to keep Drogba than look for a replacement.
The club are convinced he can play a major part in their search for silverware under new manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian will take charge of Chelsea in July and Drogba will be a major part of his plans for the coming season.
ADAMS: BOARD NOT FULLY BEHIND WENGER
Arsenal legend Tony Adams has claimed manager Arsene Wenger does not have the backing of the whole of the Gunners' board.
Adams, who spent his entire playing career at Highbury, believes the club are not providing sufficient financial backing for Wenger.
"People on the board - and the fans - want more," he said at a Nationwide event.
"But they can't actually back it up with financial weight to do it. They're not financing him. I don't think Arsenal have got any finance.
"I don't know who it is, but I think there's someone on the board who's not pro-Arsene. I don't know who it is, but that's what I've heard."
Wenger faced something of a backlash from fans this season over their failure to challenge for the Premier League title.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis also voiced his disappointment but Adams believes it would be "unrealistic" to expect an improvement next season.
Adams continued: "The fans have got very high standards now. I remember when I first broke into the team, losing 4-0 at Maine Road and the fans were doing the conga. They didn't expect much.
"But they expect a lot now. They're crying out for experience and the fans are not silly, they know the team needs experience at the back and in central midfield.
"Arsene knows, too. He's not a silly man. But you tell me a player they can get for the money they've got. It's unrealistic."

Birmingham have broken their own transfer record.
CITY CONSIDER HART LOAN MOVE
Manchester City manager Mark Hughes is debating whether to allow goalkeeper Joe Hart to go out on a season-long loan deal.
Hart is keen to get regular games with the World Cup looming in 2010 after losing his place to Shay Given.
Hughes told the club's official website: "Joe is frustrated and obviously wants to play.
"We will look at his situation in the coming weeks and it might be to both Joe's and the club's benefit if he did go out on loan.
"He'd be playing on a regular basis and, given his ability, he would no doubt improve his standing in the game and help his development."
Hart, who is in the England Under-21 squad for the European Championships, has been linked with a loan move to newly-promoted Birmingham.

MILAN: KAKA BID NOT BEING DISCUSSED
AC Milan have denied general manager Adriano Galliani was negotiating the sale of Kaka to Real Madrid during a visit to Spain.
Speculation has been mounting that the Brazilian playmaker will swap the San Siro for the Bernabeu following Florentino Perez's return as Real Madrid president, and reports on Tuesday evening in Spain claimed a deal had been agreed between the clubs during talks in the Spanish capital.
But in a statement released on the club's official website, Milan insisted Galliani had only travelled to Madrid to attend a dinner for Perez.
The statement read: "The general manager of the Rosseneri, Adriano Galliani, is in the city of Madrid exclusively for the investiture dinner of Florentino Perez, the new president of Real Madrid."
Earlier on Tuesday Kaka, who turned down a move to Manchester City in January, claimed he wants to stay at the San Siro.
"I'll say it for the last time. The last time. I don't want to leave Milan," he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"In this period I prefer to remain silent because I don't want to be misunderstood. Or, worse still, to be used.
"To the millions of Milan supporters, I say that I have made my choice. I have said what I want to stay.
"Leave me in peace, please."
Kaka was the subject of a big-money bid from City in January but the audacious swoop failed, with the player insisting he had no desire to leave Milan.
Since then he has been linked with a move to Madrid and speculation increased still further as the return of Perez - who was in charge during the Spanish club's famous Galacticos era - grew ever more likely.
FRANZ HEADS TO FRANKFURT
Maik Franz will be playing Bundesliga football again next season despite being relegated with Karlsruhe after agreeing to join Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 27-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Frankfurt to complete the move for an undisclosed fee.
The defender should shore up one of the leakiest back-lines from the 2008/09 campaign.
Frankfurt conceded 60 goals in 34 matches and were close to being sucked into a relegation tussle along with Karlsruhe.
Obtaining safety was still not enough to save the job of coach Friedhelm Funkel, who left by mutual consent. No replacement has yet been appointed, so Franz will have to wait a little longer to find out who will be his coach next season.
DEL NERI BUILDING FOR FUTURE
New Sampdoria coach Luigi Del Neri has vowed to build a squad for the future despite only signing a one-year deal at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
Del Neri, who had already announced he was set to leave Atalanta after two solid seasons in charge, was officially unveiled as Samp boss today.
And the 58-year-old is delighted to be returning to Samp, where he spent a season as a player in 1980.
"I am very happy to be here," he said. "I consider this club to be at the forefront of Italian football, they have clearly shown it in the last few years: there is everything to work well.
"We will try to create something significant but it is logical that you can't predict or guarantee anything about the final result.
"It depends on too many variables which have to be looked at one by one."
He added: "As I have done for many years, I will give space to young players, trying to create a mix of experience and youth.
"I want them to play a good football, well organised and imaginative.
"I start from there, and if these foundations are well looked after, then the results can also arrive."
One of Del Neri's first tasks will be to try to secure the future of star striker Antonio Cassano, who has been linked to a host of clubs including Inter Milan.
The pair never saw eye to eye during Del Neri's brief spell in charge of Roma five years back, but the coach insists he would love to keep the 26-year-old in his team.
"We have known each other since our time at Roma and I am happy if he stays at Samp," Del Neri said.
"I hope he stays with us because he is a fantastic footballer, he can change the match from one moment to the next, he is the element that has the skill to create and take advantage of tactics.
"His behaviour has improved a lot. We have always calmly greeted each other since the experience at Roma, so I don't think there will be any problem."

I can see Wenger going if we don't win anything next season. Which would be a shame because he's been an amazing manager on the whole.
Karim Benzema, Yohann Gourcuff and Alexander Pato are a target for Manchester United. One are coming for sure, maybe two.
Out are Berbatov with Juventus, Bayern, Man City and Inter lurking around.
Nani could be used in a deal to secure Pato.
Tevez will not be signed.
Inter, Tottenham and Real Madrid are interested in Park.
I know that Gill and Fergie are working overtime these days. Alot of the chiefscouts are also at OT a the moment.

Liverpool have one of the best starting 10 going around not only in the English league but also Europe,
Benitez has identified that the left forward role needs improving.
the depth in central midfield is very weak either Mascherano or Alonso miss from the first team, Leiva is not good enough.

Funny, I thought the topic was 'talk football here' not 'post endless football stories here'
Owen has been offered a deal by Everton. Downing is in talks with Man City. Downing is injured. Therefore these players will not be joining Liverpool. Furthermore, Gourcuff has just signed with Bordeux and is happy there, and Aguero wants to stay at Athletico Madrid. Kaka has said he doesn't want to leave too. Rafa has made an offer for Kleber in the Brazilian league. He also wants Javi Martinez. Maximum offer of £15 million for Silva, according to skysports. Could see Lavezzi joining Liverpool in exchange for Dossena, but would rather a Spaniard, to partner Torres.

Real Madrid have changed their value of Alonso from £22mil to £28mil. However, Benitez will not sell unless Sergio Ramos AND Gonzalo Higuain come in the opposite direction. Real are reluctant but they reallw want Alonso & feel that they can replace both Higuain and Ramos. The new deal is likely to be £15mil + Alonso for Ramos + Higuain
Real Madrid will look to replace Ramos with £17mil Maicon. Inter Milan will replace him with Darijo Srna, as well as Santon being able to play there. madrid are also looking to sign Villa (37mil) Ribery (41mil) Silva (20mil) and Ronaldo for £55mil + Sneijder.

Arsenal will try to lure HENRY back to London, while his Barcelona counterpart ETO'O may well join Man City or ARSENAL as well, as ABEDEYOUR is definately leaving. Got more to come
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is lining up a move for Tottenham centre back Ricardo Rocha. Rocha has been given permission to talk to other clubs and Hodgson sees him as an ideal candidate to add depth to his squad.
I told you about Liverpool to have a major overhaul of their scouting system 4 months ago and hey presto Rafa has basically sacked everyone in the Academy to start afresh inc Gary Ablett, the fact is the Academy was Parry influenced. He has also disposed of most of his major scouts.
OK now the news, tell me why have all the major players in LFC just signed extensions to their contracts even Torres, and i mean all the major senior players of quality. And this followed RAFAs contract extension. It certainly won't be coming from the yanks who won't be refinancing their loan, its because a takeover is imminent. Im sorry I won't insult you with who it is because i don't know.
Next season we'll see Kevin Davies being the captain for Carling Cup drive as well as Stevie G cover. We'll also see young Pacheco arrive on the scene, another Carling Cup feature. Liverpool's biggest win next season will be against Blackburn when RAFA makes American Dad. .sorry Sam A eat every single word he uttered against him and Sammy, that's if he stays manager that long.
Full backs : Glenn johnson looks a hopeful signing. Drenth is a strong left back but has an awkward temperament and im not sure if RAFA wants unstable behaviour but he may be used as part of a swap deal with fellow dutchman Babble. what is it with the Dutch attitude these days? Kuyt excluded.
Who ever buys Ribery. don't expect any goals.
Will RAFA buy Tevez, well hes a hunter for sure but wil RAFA swallow his pride to buy a Man U player. .or is he?
What would make my dreams come true next season, well if the 2 prima donna actors Drogba and Ronaldo leave this shore I will be happy and if LFC buy KaKa and Puyol I'll be in dream land. . and before anyone says dream on. .thats how success is brought about by dreaming.
12 more weeks lads, lets all hang on. Signing off. Keep safe and don't do drugs.
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is lining up a move for Benfica striker Óscar Cardozo. The Paraguayan striker who has scored 30 goals in 50 games would be available for 15M euros, which could prove the stumbling block.

I am not a Newcastle fan, just someone with a lot of NUFC info. Shearer has pretty much signed a new 4 year deal, with £4m a year, despite Newcastle not being great financially. heir wage bill is far too much and will sell the following:
Fabricio Coloccini – £6m
Sebastien Bassong – £10m
Ryan Taylor – £5m
Kevin Nolan – £5m
Joey Barton – £1m
Nacho Gonzalez – Returning from loan
Geremi – £2m
Damien Duff – £4m
Jonas Gutierrez – £6m
Obafemi Martins – £10m
Michael Owen – Free
Alan Smith – £4m
Mark Viduka – £500k
The reasons for these sales are; Coloccini isn't rated by fans or Shearer, and will leave for Deportivo. Bassong is leaving simply because Arsenal are willing to offer £10m for his services. Ryan Taylor is likely to join Steve Bruce at Sunderland, Nolan will join Portsmouth. Shearer doesn't want a player like Joey Barton in his team and will leave for the 1 million to Stoke, have heard Geremi linked with Ipswich, Duff has also been linked with Liverpool. Gutierrez to Everton is nearly a done deal and Martins will leave due to wages, lack of goals from chances and money to Arsenal. Owen will re–join Liverpool as a 2nd choice ST on a pay–as–you–play contract and Smith will join Merseyside rivals Everton, and finally Viduka will join Burnley (btw, Lovenkrands loves it in England and Newcastle and will stay, but will leave next summer if Newcastle cannot get promoted). Now, with the money raised and the funds ashley is giving Shearer, I have heard he will have around £55m to reform the team. Jermaine Beckford and Marlon Harewood are on his list, for £2m and £1m. Fabian delph will also join for £5.8m. Chris Brunt will sign for £3m. Zak Whitbread will sign for £1m and Adam Hammill will be loaned from Liverpool for the season. Danny Butterfield will sign from Crystal Palace for £400k and Gregorz Rasiak will join for £1.5m. Also from Southampton will be Andrew Surman and Morgan Schneiderlin for a combined fee of £2m. Shearer will then lash out his remaining budget on 2 or 3 players. After Portsmouth have been taken over, they are offloading a few players, and Newcastle are looking at Papa Bouba Diop for £6m and John Utaka for £6m. They will also snatch Jermaine Pennant from under their noses with the promise of first–team football. They will allow their wage bill to be stretched a bit by signing Dean Ashton from West Ham for £12m and Kieron Dyer could re–join for £3m. Finally, with Man City strengthening their defence this summer, Richard Dunne is set to be offloaded with Hughes not confident in his ability and will sign for the geordies for a fee of £5m.

I can see Chelsea being the top spenders..
Andy, great info you are posting, i am enjoying reading the posts.
Tommy Smith (Watford) & Andrew Surman (Southampton) along with Jason Koumas (Wigan) are all to sign for Cardiff City. Ross McCormack will be the other midfield player so Chopra goes up front with Bothroyd.
As for strikers, Anichebe will come in as part of the Joe Ledley to Everton deal.
Mark Hudson (Charlton), Miguel Angel Llero (Mk Dons) and Kieran Gibbs (Arsenal–Season loan) will come in as the defenders.
**SUNDERLAND SUMMER TRANSFERS**
– Darren Bent (Tottenham)
– Carlton Cole (West Ham)
– Glen Johnson (Portsmouth)
– Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham)
– Antonio Valencia (Wigan)
I am friends with a high ranking Manchester United current coach/ex–player, so I have the inside information on the champions transfer targets.
These are definates from what I have heard:
IN
Carlos Tevez £22,000,000
Michael Essien £29,000,000
Arjen Robben £17,000,000
Sergio Ramos £19,500,000
Antonio Valencia £15,500,000
Fraizer Campbell (loan return)
Manucho (loan return)
Danny Simpson (loan return)
Adem Ljajic (loan return)
Craig Cathcart (loan return)
OUT
Nani – Real Madrid (part of the Sergio Ramos deal)
Ji–Sung Park – Inter Milan £7,500,000
Wes Brown – Bolton Wanderers £5,000,000
Manucho – Shakhtar Donetsk £2,500,000
Fraizer Campbell – Wolverhampton Wanderers £6,000,000
Danny Simpson – Newcastle United £2,000,000
Gary Neville – Middlesbrough free
Thomas Kuszczak – Blackburn Rovers (loan)
Paul Scholes – retiring into a coaching role
Ryan Giggs – retiring into a coaching role
With the development of the likes of the da Silva brothers, Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck, this looks like it could be United's strongest ever squad.
Also expect Ben Foster to start more games, with van der Sar taking a backseat and coaching Foster and the younger keepers (Ron–Robert Zieler, Ben Amos & Tom Heaton).
Remember where you heard this first. . ;)

Top Man Utd post Andy! great read.
Tranmere's Ben Chorley could return to newly promoted Gillingham this summer after the 26 year olds contract expired in June.
With Ancelotti becoming the new chelsea manager, it is likely that they will sign a big name striker, and in order to finance this (assuming most of the £50m budget is used on other players)I don't know who will be sold, but I would imagine that one of these will be Kalou. I personally beleive that he will be swapped, along with £10 – £15 million for adebayor. With this money, arsenal will not sign Hangeland or Bassong as many assume, however they will sign Metzelder for a knockdown price of £4m (departing madrid due to new galacticos era). This leaves Wenger with around £25m to spend, and he will look to sign another player from spain, either Mahamadou Diarra, or Marcos Senna, for about £8m. Senna is disappointed that Pellegrini has left for Madrid, and so may leave, and Diarra may leave for the same reason as Metzelder. This leaves Wenger with around £17m to spend. £7m of this could be used on Sakho, or on other young talents, and the £10m left over will remain untouched until january, to see if Wenger feels the team needs strengthening then, and at this point (january), he may sell one of the attacking options for around £10m to give him £20m to spend on one big player in Jan
Wolves expect / looking to sign the following this month:
Nenad Milijas – Partizan Belgrade £3m as Munchengladbach have msatched the £2.6m bid
Huddlestone – £6m Harry will drop price soon
Emmerson Boyce – Wigan £2m
Nicky Shorey – Villa orr Michael Ball Man City £2m
Nigel Reo Coker – Villa £5m
Fortune – Nancy – £2m
Sean Davis – Portsmouth free
Michael Mancienne – Season Loan
Fulham FC Transfer News
Hodgson is keen to bolster his squad and add some youth and pace to it.
Potential Targets–
Francisco Guilhermo Ochoa – GK, 23years old from club america (regarded as one of the best upcoming goalkeepers, and see's him as number 1 as interest in schwarzer increases) 7million.
DaMarcus Beasley– Midfielder/forward – had spells at PSV, Manchester City and Rangers. Currently at Rangers and is being wasted away. The american is a pacey utility player and will bolster the squad as it challenges for the Europa league title. This deal would be cheaper. This could be worth 1–2million as Rangers are willing to sell him.
David Odonkor– Similar player to Beasley. Odonkor is a german midfielder/forward who has bags of pace to burn and plays for relegated real betis. He is generally unused for the spanish outfit and a move to the premier league attracts him. Deal 1–2million.
Mbokani – Standard Liege Forward. The 6ft 1 congo striker is a prime target to replace zamora who unfortunately did not get the goal return expected by Hodgson and see's Mbokani as the pacey target man to replace hard–working zamora.
There will also be some unknown signings from hodgson from Norway and Finland.
A09! :)
Man United News:
– United will be given (if not already given) £30 million for winning the Premier League
– United will also be given £50 million because they got to the final of the champions league (if they had won they would've got £90 million like what Barcalona are going to receive)
– Ronaldo will be sold to Real Madrid for £80 million
– The total in come is £160 million. . This is what SAF has earned this season and that's without any money being given to United from Glazer
– The players that will be signed this summer by United are as follows:
. Antonio Valencia (Wigan) (£15 million)
. David Villa (Valencia) (£40 million)
. Mamadou Sakho (Paris St Germain) (£14 million)
Players leaving this summer are as follows:
. Nani (Loan to another Premiership team. . this will allow him to prove himself)
. Carlos Tevez (Liverpool/City. . LFC seems to be the one that I think he will go to because of Javier Mascherano)
. Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid. . £80 million)
MAJOR SPURS NEWS;
lots has been written on here regarding barry to spurs! yes he is a massive spurs fan but the fact is its the other spurs supporting villa player that's on his way to white hart lane. .ashley young this news comes from no–one at white hart lane but from arsenal where the news is fly'ing around, where it is thought wenger would be interested but was told by young's agent that it would only be spurs that could take him away from villa park, the deal is based on villa wanting players plus cash with spurs trying to unload bent and bentley only. deal to be completed mid july. this deal will terminate the deal that took place in january involving downing
#man utd transfer news#
future VDS replacement to be bought and loaned out, man utd looking at:
lopez villareal (£7,000,000)
asenjo valladolid (£10,000,000)
with Fosters consisten injuries and Kuszcaks inconsistency we will see some signing there.
RB looks pretty stable for man utd atm with Danny Simpson and Rafael Da silva there. possibly neville retiring too a coaching role come january. CB looks stable as well but don't rule out a bid of £5,ooo,ooo for Ryan shawcross a former united CB, with J.Evans, Shawcross, C.Cathcart and rumoured Dodo expect man united to have a solid defence for years to come. LB again seems stable for the moment, but with possible injuries to Evra and a unexperienced Fabio Da Silva, see united bid for Miguel Veloso of sporting lisbon who can play across the back 4 and as a CDM (like john o'shea) Ronaldo leaving? possible but unlikely right now, see him staying with Nani leaving on loan to wigan with Anotonio Valencia coming to united for (£15,000,000) Man united need a real creative force in midfield, a possible leader and decision maker, this will come possibly in the shape of Jao Moutinho for a reported £15–20,000,000. on the left wing expect Rooney to cover that next season with Valencia playing some part from the subs bench and in cup matches to get the feel of uniteds footballing style. ST Berbatov WILL stay and Tevez WILL leave, expect him to leave for Real Madrid. i feel that man united will bid for 2 St's next season, 1 being K.Benzema for (£35,000,000) price tag might put us off (all depends on Ronaldo) and a bid of £18,000,000 for K.J.huntelaar of real madrid. the striker is unsettled there and SAF feels he can fill the gap left by RVN.
so. .Man united ins. . . .(my views)
Asenjo 10,000,000 valladolid

Don't know much about Birmingham's new record signing.
Heard a few whispers around walsall f.c
1. walsall will sign barry hales he will only be backup though to the main strike partnership.
2.Hutch is trying to robbie savage to be our midfield enforcer but wages are proving a stumbling block trying to convince him to take a wage cut and convince him walsall are a side on the up.
3.Ben herd without a club after being released by shrewsbury
4.Andrew whing released from brighton
5.Jemal Johnson released from MK Dons to partner troy deeney
6. A bid to bring back Mark wright also from MK dons can't see this happening though
7.Joe Murphy although this is an audacious bid and wages are a stumblind block coupled with bigger clubs also trying for him.
8.Barry corr of swindon released
9.Ian breckin released from notts forest at 33 seen as ideal partner to anthong gerrard and mentor to mannie smith
Hutch has also looked at players, John macken, Mark kennedy, Matt holland, and jake cole all free agents but will not sign any of them due to high wages

Liverpool have moved to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Valencia's David Silva with an offer of cash plus Andrei Voronin as manager Rafael Benitez begins his summer rebuilding plans.
The Reds are believed to have lodged a bid of €17.5 million (£15m) early in the window as they recognise that they could face stiff competition if they wait, according to The Daily Mirror.
