Shearer left a hole in defence at the moment. Wouldn't be surprised if Pompey get a sneaky one through.

Some bad tactical decisions made by Shearer in this game (or morelike Dowie, since he seems to be acting manager).

:hello:

Chances are extremely low.

The only way I can see it happening are if Liverpool have an extremely bad game.

I'm hoping for a draw between Newc and Middlesbrough in 2 weeks time to ensure they're both basically going down.

Edit: Hull will lose though. Things can still change.

I think Fulham will win, just cos they're fighting for top 7 place.
If AV sneak a win (deffo possible - it's away) - it's going to seal it.

Going to be close, especially since S'land play Chelsea on last day - could decide which of us is going and staying.

Steven Gerrard is winning his race to be fit for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash with Newcastle at Anfield.
The Liverpool skipper is back training with his teammates after recovering from a groin injury and is expected to return in time to face Alan Shearer's relegation-threatened side.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.tv today, manager Rafael Benitez said: "Steven is doing well and is training with the rest of the team.

"I think he will be fit and available for Sunday.

"It is good news for the team and for him because he can be a key player for us over the remaining games.

"Without Steven the squad has been playing well and scoring goals, so that is positive."

While this morning's newspapers link a number of players with moves away from Anfield in the summer, Benitez is keen to stress that for the time being at least his only focus is on keeping his side's title dreams alive.

"I was reading the press and they are talking about different players," he said.

"I can guarantee today that we are not thinking about selling anyone. All we are thinking about is to do our job and to try and win the Premier League title, if possible.

"After that you never know what can happen in the market. Clearly, at this moment, we are just preparing for winning games."

It wont happen.
We score first then its game on!

Also Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a Target for Arsenal and Man City.
He wants to leave, and may go to one of these or possibly a spanish club.

Wenger apparently is going to make loads of signings this season to strength the team and add depth.

Is good to see, Arsenal need some money though.

andyman
29-04-2009, 09:39 PM
You could be leading 2 - 0 during the game, but if Man Utd get a late goal then you need to get another!
Arsenal need to get 3 goals! Man Utd will attack due to the away goal rule, plus Arsenal don't seem to be as sharp and quick on the counter like 5 years ago.

Yep aint over yet but Arsenal need goals, ok they got 4 against Liverpool but that was down to both teams playing it open, i doubt Man Utd will be that open but they will try and gain few away goals..

But then i can see Arsenal wanting that goal bad late in the 2nd half, but then get caught out on the counter, away goal for United!

Or maybe Arsenal get a goal in the first half, 1-1, late 2nd half Arsenal going for that win, that late goal.. But get caught out by the counter..

Arsenal failing to score tonight has not made it easy for them.

Rafael Benitez today confirmed Daniel Agger is close to agreeing a new contract at Anfield.
Click here to watch our interview with Rafa>>

The Danish defender's future has been the subject of speculation for many months, but a deal is now close which will ensure the 24-year-old commits his future to the Reds.

"It is very close," confirmed Benitez today. "We are just waiting on the small details but it is nearly done. We have to wait a little bit longer but we are very close.

"He is very happy here and I have always supported him. Hopefully it will be done."

Benitez also brushed off speculation in this morning's newspapers linking Javier Mascherano with a move away from the club.

"I was talking with Javier earlier and everything is okay," he added.

"He is really pleased here because he knows the fans love him. He can't avoid big clubs asking about him because he is a top class player, but he is very happy here."

Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard has overcome a groin strain and will be available for this weekend's clash with Newcastle United at Anfield.

They would have to lose all 4 of their last games.

Everton would have to win all 4
Aston Villa would have to win 3 draw 1 and score +22 goal difference or win all 4 games.

Cardiff City suffered heartache as they fell out of the Championship play-offs on the last day of the regular season.

Roger Johnson almost gave Cardiff a cushion when he hit the Sheffield Wednesday bar just before half-time.

But on 71 minutes Darren Purse failed to deal with a long ball, allowing Jermaine Johnson to gather and volley the Owls ahead from outside the box.

Then came the news that Preston had retaken the lead against QPR, leap-frogging Cardiff into the play-offs.

Both sides finished on 74 points with identical goal difference, but Cardiff missed out by virtue of having scored a goal less than Preston.

Cardiff have taken only one point from their last four matches, conceding 12 goals in the process which included a shocking 6-0 defeat to Preston last month.

Sami Hyypia's decade of service at Liverpool Football Club will end this summer when he joins Bayer Leverkusen on a two-year deal.
Hyypia underwent a medical with the German outfit this morning and will link up with his new teammates in the summer for the start of pre-season training.

The Finnish international has earned legendary status at Anfield for the part he has played in the club's many successes over the past decade - and he will leave Merseyside with the best wishes of every Liverpool supporter.

It's hard to believe he cost the Reds just £2.5million from Dutch outfit Willem II back in May 1999.

After making his Reds debut against Sheffield Wednesday on August 7, 1999, Hyypia quickly formed a watertight partnership with Stephane Henchoz, providing the foundation for a historic treble in 2000-01.

The centre-half wore the captain's armband through much of this momentous campaign in the absence of the injured Jamie Redknapp. He jointly lifted both the UEFA and FA Cups.

Following the departure of Redknapp in April 2002, Gerard Houllier handed his trusty defender the captaincy on a permanent basis, though he'd be replaced by the emerging Steven Gerrard in October 2003.

With the arrival of new boss Rafa Benitez in 2004 came numerous personnel changes, though it was clear Hyypia was going nowhere.

However, he did have a new central-defensive partner in Jamie Carragher, who was at last given a regular slot in his preferred position. Within 12 months they were regarded as one of the most formidable pairings on the continent following Liverpool's Champions League triumph in the Ataturk.

Hyypia scored one of the most memorable goals en route to Istanbul, an unstoppable volley to open the scoring against Juve in the quarter-finals.

Incredibly, he played every minute of 57 consecutive European games for the Reds from November 2001 to February 2006.

The arrival of young centre-halves Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel provided competition for places as Hyypia entered his twilight but, despite sometimes missing out, he continued to climb the club's all-time appearance table. In December 2008 he overtook Ron Yeats to enter the top 20.

History will undoubtedly judge the big Finn to be one of the club's shrewdest pieces of business - and possibly the best pound for pound signing ever to arrive at Anfield.

 He will be missed.

Midfielder Joey Barton has been suspended by Newcastle.

Barton was sent off for a lunging tackle on Xabi Alonso in the defeat at Liverpool on Sunday - a challenge boss Alan Shearer described as "stupid."

And a newspaper report has since suggested the 26-year-old was involved in a row with Shearer after the game.

A Magpies statement said: "Joey Barton has been suspended from the club until further notice. The club will be making no further comment at this time."

Barton's red card means he would have missed Newcastle's final three games of the season because of an automatic Football Association ban.

And Fabregas again Barca and Real hassling him, he said back in january or whenever when he got the captains armband that he was staying at Arsenal for many seasons to come.

In february said how he could say he isnt going to move all he wanted and the papers would still say that he was leaving but again he said i am not moving.

Now...

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas has once again dismissed speculation he will leave the Emirates for Barcelona this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been persistently linked with a move to Barca or Real Madrid amid rumours he is growing frustrated with a lack of silverware at the Gunners.

Madrid president Florentino Perez is set to outline his plans for re-election on May 14 and is thought to have the Spaniard top of his shopping list.

But Fabregas said today: 'How many times have I said this? My future belongs to Arsenal and I want to be at Arsenal. I see my future here. I do not have to tell anyone to
be relaxed or more confident that I am staying. My name has been linked with other clubs for four years, and I am still here. That should tell you something.'

Not a usual Arsenal fan.

I prefer chelsea to all teams bar

Wigan
Fulham
Bolton
Everton well on par with chelsea.

And Of Course Arsenal.

Nah, Arsenal can't do what The Mighty Liverpool did back in 2005... Can they? Would make a fantastic 2nd half if they did.. But Man Utd too strong.
