Lies.
Out of Lucy Peter and Steven , Lucy Beale would be the only name recognisable to the general public.
Exactly, i thought this is common knowledge?

It's ****ed. I didn't think a producer could do more damage to a show than Kirkwood did but SOC has made his era look like the show was perfect back then. It's gong to take a LONG time for Eastenders to recover from what SOC has done to the show.
When he SOC was first announced as taking over, I thought it'd be more realistic and like the good old days but he completely flopped.
Awful writing, ruining storylines, getting rid of the best characters, prematurely ending storylines.
Aaron Sidwell deserved better.

This week has been horrendous and overly publicised but it's been a flop
Marsh.
08-09-2017, 09:21 PM
It really is quite amusing when you think SOC was billed as the realistic and non sensational producer. :joker:
He's done more damage in a shorter space of time than all your Kirkwood's put together. Kirkwood made the show bad but, apart from killing Pat, he didn't leave long term damage that couldn't be repaired by a future producer.

Yorke does a great who done it? so could be a great way to bring viewers back
Marsh.
08-09-2017, 09:50 PM
He did one great whodunnit.
Plus, Who Shot Phil had the benefit of being the culmination of long running plots, great character development and reached a peak for the show.
A whodunnit stemming from a few lacklustre attempts at entertainment this year with terrible character writing wouldn't have the same effect IMO.
Wizard.

I hope the stabbing kills him and doesn't just leave him with recoverable injuries.

Kim driving?
Personally I think it would have made more sense within Max's revenge if Steven went to prison for causing the fire and the attempted murder of Jane.

Side note: The shot of Kim coming down the steps outside of her house like a little old woman made me hoot.

09-09-2017, 12:15 AM
Personally I think it would have made more sense within Max's revenge if Steven went to prison for causing the fire and the attempted murder of Jane.
This. Prison and being left isolated from his family (his entire fear in the first place) would've been a much more plausible ending.
Much like Ronnie maybe going to prison for murder and Roxy stepping up, maturing and taking care of the kids would've been a much better ending for them.
The show cuts off its nose to spite its face.

If the writing is not there, it will just make things worse.
This. When was the last time Coronation Street or Emmerdale killed anyone off who wasn't leaving anyway? Eastenders for some bizarre reason feels the need to have a MURDAH or a death for shock factor.

That's what's so annoying. It has all of the ingredients of a brilliant storyline.
It's off the back of a long running three year murder plot so it's not a story that's sprung up out of nowhere. It involves most of the longer serving cast members. It's brought in some new cast members with great potential, and also had a great mystery element to it. And it's also being used to drag the show into the modern day and shake up the sets.
Yet.... SOC made it dull and then stupid in equal measure.

Willmott-Brown was never charged for Kathy's rape but was sent to prison for raping someone else a couple of years later. Maybe that's what drove her mum to suicide?

Invincible Queen.
Bobby gave ha bionic legs.
Max to give her Terminator eye and bionic arms?
DTC's era was genuinely unmissable though. He'd made it so that we could be presented with a jaw dropping twist in the middle of a Thursday episode (like Peggy returning and revealing she had cancer) and his personality was that effectious and passionate, you couldn't help but forgive him.
SOC was just pretentious, miserable and so far up his own arse it was unreal from start to finish
Marsh.

Glad Jane is alive but I can't believe they killed off another Beale kid, would have been better him leaving alone.
Wish they explored his sexuality
Can anyone explain why Linda and Johnny's ambulance was the one to overturn?
Probably so Linda can throw the 'Jack was there to save your son and you were off with another woman!' thing at Mick.

Wow, this is the "acting-executive producer's" decision. :worry:

Yeah but if they're really to give her Steven's heir so to speak, she's going to be pretty blandly caring for a baby for a couple of years. Like Lauren was until she started working at Weyland.
They are getting the break/rest, come back after refreshment that the Mitchell sisters should have had IMO.
Firewire
10-09-2017, 12:57 AM
The characters aren't the problem, especially the older ones

There was room for new or returning characters I would've thought?
The cast is smaller than it's ever been. Unless, that's a result of budget cuts and they have to work with a smaller number of actors at any one time.

Like it took a bloody long time for DTC to have the show in a good place when he took over and I genuinely believe that was helped by the fact that the anniversary happened to be there to prop up the buzz of the show. Anniversaries naturally make a soap more exciting for a little while because it just feels special
