None of this has had any development.

It actually annoys me. They spend months on sh*t like Mick and Whitney and then the plots they actually want to be long lasting and properly change characters, they end up rushed and badly written.

Steven and Lauren spent the best part of their year back in the show doing nothing and then they crammed all of this into a couple of months. This grieving mistress act of Abi's isn't believable either. Yes, the characters had stuff in common and to some degree were damaged by their selfish parents but it was never actually given much attention or focus to be earned as a story.

Exactly. It's more "talking to the audience in a bizarre attempt at being real and also educating them in the process" that SOC deemed good storytelling.

It was like Denise's poverty storyline being less of a story and more of Diane Parish being given monologues to educate the audience about the state of the benefits system in this country. Except whilst it also failed on a story and character level, it all failed on a factual level and seemed like something out of a bad documentary from 1980.

Block filming and last minute re-writes are ALL OVER THIS SHOW at the moment.

Yeah they are essentially a nice family, Keanu, Bernadette and Karen are all quite likeable so far so if they introduced them to make Keegan sympathetic coming from a broken family it's backfired for me - I think he's an even bigger prick picking on young girls looks when his sister is insecure and his brothers disabled.

I'm only watching now for Kush's storyline - he has Brugada, which gave my dad a cardiac arrest (he's fine), my uncle (he's not), and now another uncle, my brother and I all have ICDs fitted, so it's weird/interesting to see it on a soap, but it's a rare condition so hopefully it raises awareness!

Tbh, to me it's looking more likely John Yorke will be staying on longer as Creative Director.

Maybe to take on the job for however long he said he didn't want all of the stresses of running the show day to day, admin etc and just wanted the purely creative side to it.

Which, for the benefit of the show, is probably the best thing they could do. Split the job so one person can run the business side and the other can focus purely on the output of the show, the stories and the characters and the overall state of it.
