ZOKORA APPEALS FOR SUNDERLAND DEAL
Didier Zokora would welcome a move to Sunderland but the deal could be scuppered by Tottenham's £10m asking price, says the player's agent.
The 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer with Spain or France thought to be his most likely destination.
However, the Wearsiders have emerged as new candidates and the player's agent Rachel Anderson insists the Ivorian would prefer to remain in England.
"Didier would definitely prefer to stay in the Premier League. He would do very well at Sunderland, they're an absolutely massive club," Anderson told Sunderland Echo.
"There are not many clubs Didier would leave Tottenham for but I think Sunderland are one.
"If the terms of the deal are decent, but also if the move is an adventure, then he would be interested.
"I think he would bring a different dimension to Sunderland.
"Whether they are prepared to pay the fee Tottenham are asking, which I've been told is 'double figure millions', remains to be seen. They paid £8million for him, he has improved so they want more.
"He has three or four English clubs interested, and a couple of Spanish clubs, one of which is very keen but may be struggling to match his fee, and another which can afford it."
Among the other clubs thought to be interested in Zokora are Spanish duo Sevilla and Atletico Madrid but both have distanced themselves since Spurs slapped their latest price tag on him.
Offer
Meanwhile, Sunderland have been handed the chance to sign Czech Republic international Radoslav Kovac from Spartak Moscow.
The midfielder spent the second half of last season on-loan at West Ham but the Hammers have opted not to sign the 29-year-old for the reported £4m asking price.
Kovac is now being touted around Europe and despite interest from German side Hanover, Kovac hopes for a return to the Premier League.
"In principle, I wouldn't object to going to Hanover, but I would prefer to stay in England where there is also interest from another Premier League club," he said.
"I'm on holiday in Prague and my contract with Spartak requires me to return to Moscow at the end of June but perhaps by that time my future will be more certain."

Arsenal boss' transfer intentions: 2 coming in, none leaving
01:51 PM 23 June, 2009
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that he wants to add two more to his existing squad.
“We lost Hleb and Flamini last summer and we have had to rebuild,” he said.
“But we have done that now and the future looks bright. We don’t want to have to rebuild again, so I want to keep all the players together for next season. I don’t want to lose anyone.
“I want to add to the squad and have identified one or two targets. But identifying players and buying them are two different things.
“Ideally I would like to bring everybody in before we start back in pre-season training in July. I don’t want to leave it until the end of August.”
So that means Emmanuel Adebayor and Emmanuel Eboue are staying, doesn't it? What does that say about Philippe Senderos? He wasn't part of last season's squad really, so do Wenger's comments apply to him too?
So Adebayor.
Eboue
and Senderos staying.
Thomas Vermaleen
I would love Flipe Melo
and one other?

Naka opts for Espanyol move
Japanese playmaker turns back on homeland for Spanish switch
Espanyol have confirmed the signing of Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura on a two-year deal.
The Celtic midfielder's contract with the deposed Scottish champions expires at the end of the month and he was widely expected to join former club Yokohama F Marinos.
However, the playmaker, who turns 31 this week, did not put pen-to-paper on a contract and has opted for a last minute switch to Primera Division outfit Espanyol.
The Barcelona-based club have announced that Nakamura will arrive on 10th July and, subject to a medical, will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training.
The news comes as a blow to Marinos as the free-kick specialist was expected to make a homecoming to finish his career in Japan.
However, Nakamura has instead taken the opportunity to play in one of Europe's elite leagues, having previously played with Reggina in Serie A.
"I don't know whether or not I can get a regular position but I want to give all I have," Nakamura said in statement published in Japanese newspaper Chunichi Sports on Tuesday.
"There is the possibility of losing everything I have built up," he was also quoted as saying in Sports Nippon.
Nakamura implied a reason for his Spanish switch was the opportunity to play against the best teams in Europe, whom he feels the top seven in the division are among.
"There are 14 matches against each of them every year and it is an awesome thing itself," he said.
"I feel attached to Yokohama and I thank them for the offer. But playing in Spain has been my dream and I want to try it."

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/204830-midfielder-strife-at-arsenal-as-melo-approaches-deal-with-gunners
Arsenal's Midfielder Strife As Brazil's Melo Approaches Deal
Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo will join Arsenal according to respected (if there is such a thing) British Journalist, Gabriele Marcotti. On UK sports radio station, talkSport, Marcotti claimed that Melo will join Arsenal at the end of the Confederations Cup.
After joining Fiorentina last year from Almeria, Melo has been impressive and recently been named in Brazil’s starting squad. There has been much speculation linking Melo to Inter Milan and recently the player stated that a move was out of the question.
Melo’s agent is supposedly in talks with the club and Marcotti reported a tabled offer has been accepted. Defender Phillippe Senderos may be used as leverage as the Italian side has expressed interest in the want-away player. Senderos has stated that he wants to stay in Italy and would enjoy a stint with La Viola.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has publicly stated that he wants all transfers wrapped up and into pre-season training during July. He added that he didn’t want to have any last minute transfers in August right before the season kicks off.
That said, the question is now raised… what to do with the five midfielders that are on Arsenal’s roster? There’s Song, Ramsey, Denilson, Eboue, and Diaby. Wenger has stated many times that he looks for players that can immediately fit in to the Arsenal philosophy of play.
During the last few games, Song looked to improve in the defensive mid position. His lack of pace and mobility could present a problem if kept in that position however. The others left much to be desired in a lack-luster season for the Gunners.
Denilson is a Brazilian version of Arsenal’s caption, Cesc Fabregas. While he has improved greatly, he has yet to prove that he can handle the rigors of the Premier League weekly. Eboue had a nightmare season with fans calling for him to be benched and ridiculed at each game. Ramsey, on the other hand, has not really been allowed the chance to show why he was snapped up from Cardiff City.
As the self-imposed deadline looms for the club, can Wenger show why he’s called “Le Professor” or will the growing tide of doubters prove their point and call for his dismissal at the end of the summer?

Arsenal facing La Liga competition for £3million midfield target?
11:45 AM 24 June, 2009
Arsenal Football Club aren’t alone in their interest for Mohamed Diame.
The Gunners have been linked with the 22-year-old midfield since the New Year, and reports claim Arsene Wenger is set to move for the £3million-rated player.
However, it is also being suggested that Barcelona and Real Madrid are keen to take Diame, who had an impressive season in the Segunda Division with Rayo Vallecano.
Rayo rate the powerful French-born player in the region of £6million, but they are likely to settle for just half this amount according to reports.

Really andyman
So why did, the season before last
Adebayor score 24 goals?
Torres scored 24.
So that season what woudl you rate him..
andyman
24-06-2009, 12:22 PM
Overall.. Adebayor is 6/10 and Torres is 10/10.
Will take some going for Adebayor to reach 10/10 like the living footballing legend Torres The Great.
I am being true and fair.

Last 2 years.
Torres
Games Played: 84
Goals: 50
Adebayor
Games Played: 85
Goals: 46
Thats at least 8 - 9 /10
Lauren
24-06-2009, 12:30 PM
I rate Adebayors style over Torres' too tbh. Not being biased, I support neither team.
My personal ratings (not based on just goals scored) are:
Torres - 8/10
Adebayor - 9/10
andyman
24-06-2009, 12:32 PM
6/10 for now.. Plus not many people even know who he is, but everybody knows Torres!
Hey maybe this season he will become 8/10.

andyman
24-06-2009, 12:39 PM
Arshavin is 5/10.
He needs to do better and might just do that this season, good chance he will become 7/10.
And Lauren, shame on you!:bored:
You know Torres is a god.
Jayson
24-06-2009, 12:44 PM
Arshavin put 4 goals in one game past your so called gods Andyman.
Hes 9/10 based on his Arsenal performances.
30stone
24-06-2009, 12:44 PM
Thats an unfair rating andyman.
The games he has played for Arsenal so far are 9/10 out of 10
Every game he played he made a massive difference to the Arsenal play.
He got 4 goals which kept up from losing to liverpool and he made loads of assists to!
andyman
24-06-2009, 12:51 PM
No, for now he is 5/10, he needs to prove me wrong and then he will become 7/10... Lets just wait and see what happens during the season.
Torres 10/10.

Everton are bracing themselves to fight off a £15m bid from Manchester City for England defender Joleon Lescott.
Lescott, 26, has been strongly linked with City and reports suggest an offer from manager Mark Hughes is imminent.
BBC Sport understands Everton have had no contact and any offer will be instantly rejected.
Toffees boss David Moyes insists his stars are not for sale and it may be up to Lescott to force the issue if he wishes to quit Goodison Park.
Lescott has had three successful seasons at Everton after moving from Wolves in a £5m deal but City are homing in on him as their next big-money buy after landing midfielder Gareth Barry from Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz.
Birmingham City have signed Manchester City's England Under-21 keeper Joe Hart on a season-long loan and completed a deal for Eduadorian Giovanny Espinoza.
Hart, 22, lost his place at Eastlands following the arrival of Shay Given from Newcastle United last season.
And Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has agreed to let Hart move to Birmingham after signing Aston Villa keeper Stuart Taylor as cover.
Espinoza, 32, has moved from Ecuadorian side Barcelona Sporting Club.
The powerful defender, who has won more than 80 caps for his country and participated in two World Cups, has signed a two-year deal.
He also has previous experience of playing in Europe with Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem during the 2007-08 campaign and had spells at Aucas and LDU Quito (Ecuador), Mexican side Monterrey and Brazilian club Cruzeiro.

Villa future in the balance
In-demand striker set to meet with Valencia officials
Valencia striker David Villa will not make a decision on his future until he returns to Spain.
Villa is set to fly back to his homeland after Spain suffered a shock exit from the Confederations Cup against the USA.
The gifted forward had been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid but talks with the Los Blancos have broken down.
Barcelona now appear the leading contenders to sign Villa, with reports suggesting his arrival would see Samuel Eto'o depart Camp Nou.
However, ahead of talks with Valencia officials, Villa has yet to make a call on where he will be plying his trade next season.
He said: "On my future, until we return to Spain there will be nothing new.
"I have not talked with (Valencia president) Manuel Llorente or anyone else."

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/86173/Fergie-s-45m-Sergio-swoop
FERGIE'S £45M SERGIO SWOOP
MANCHESTER United have targeted Atletico Madrid’s £45m striker Sergio Aguero.
Sir Alex Ferguson has turned his sights on the young Argentine star after giving up on Valencia’s David Villa, who is expected to join Real Madrid.
Aguero – nicknamed Kun – has scored 37 leeague goals in the last two years for Atletico and is only still 21.
Chelsea have already made contact over the talented striker, but were put off by his £200,000-a-week wage demands.
But Fergie is hoping that Aguero will lower those as he would get the chance to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The £80m United will get for Cristiano Ronaldo is starting to burn a hole in Fergie’s pocket.
United would be prepared to offer Aguero, who is married to Diego Maradona’s daughter, a five year deal at £120,000 a week, but again hope the lure of Old Trafford would be enough to attract him.
Atletico’s president Enrique Cerezo has made it clear recently that the club would be willing to listen to ‘interesting’ offers for their star player.
As well as Chelsea, Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan is also interested in the player as he expects to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
But Fergie is believed to want to open negotiations with Atletico and the player’s advisers as soon as possible.
He obviously feels the striker will be perfect for the Premier League and an ideal replacement for Carlos Tevez, who Aguero won an Olympic gold alongside.

Thats what we are looking for.
Though we seem to be going for one for 5 - 7 m
and Flipe Melo to.
Perfect 3 additions to the teams.

He was terrible at Newcastle, but then... everyone is
Nah if I'm being honest I just don't think he had the right support at Newc, he was a backup or rotation player and he's used to being a first team player.
He definitely has more in him.
