No matter how much Man City throw at players, they will never make the money back.. Is Man City a known world wide brand? Clubs are more like brands, hence why they will throw money at players to join, of course only the best players.
But Kaka is loved in South America and Man City knew that, thats why they was going to spend big time to get him and push the Man City name in South America, also do a Asia tour.. But all went to pot!
Not long till a new superstar player who is known around the world and loved... £100m easy! Thats because the club will make that money back.
Man city wont win anything next season
fact.

Nope every wrong of you Sir Andy, Knight of the Brotherhood.
Liverpool will be sold within few years and bought by a arab billionaire who loves Liverpool.. Love it that much he throws £500m at Raffa to buy the best in the world! Plus with buying big names the club will sell more shirts world wide..
I do feel sorry for Everton, no good players, stadium is falling to bits and their future looks bleak.. If everton have a young player come through the youth team they gotta sell him that season or season after.
Liverpool have a small hicup but nothing major, many Billionaires will want to buy the club and invest for the future, fans all over the world.
Everton will break Rafa's heart next season

Anyone help me?
I just started playing fm09 again, right... and when I set up my account I say I have no past experience.
I took on Cardiff, and when they sacked me... I went on "holiday" and set it to accept jobs from "any league" but no one is taking me????! LOL. Not even Blue Square Premier Teams??
Is it a game glitch? Or should I start a new game and set my account to say I've had past experience so they want me more?

Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins is keen to stay at the relegated club, but admits they are likely to sell him.
Atletico Madrid say the club will now listen to "interesting offers" for star forward Sergio Aguero. Argentine Aguero has been linked with both Chelsea and Manchester United.
Big-spending Real Madrid have set their sights on Arsenal defender Gael Clichy.
Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has played down reports linking him to a move to Champions League winners Barcelona.
Ezequiel Lavezzi's agent insists Serie A club Napoli have received an offer from Liverpool for the Argentine striker.
Juventus are ready to offer David Trezeguet to Manchester City in exchange for Elano, according to reports in Italy.

OWNERS BACK FERGUSON TO SPEND WELL
Sir Alex Ferguson will decide how much of the world record £80million transfer fee Manchester United are to receive for Cristiano Ronaldo he wants to spend.
In the wake of United's confirmation that a bid from Real Madrid for the Ballon D'Or winner had been accepted, supporters questioned how much of the cash Ferguson would get to spend given the Old Trafford outfit's £650million debt mountain.
While there is a general understanding of why the question is being asked, the Glazer family point to their record of backing Ferguson in the transfer market throughout the four years since their controversial takeover.
They insist that policy has not changed despite the ongoing credit crunch.
So, while they refuse to put a figure on the funds Ferguson might wish to spend, within reason the Scot will get what he wants.
"The idea Manchester United are motivated by a debt burden is just not true," said a Glazer spokesman. "It is not an issue.
"The fact is Cristiano Ronaldo decided, after six years, it was time to move on and the manager said okay.
"Sir Alex Ferguson is in total control of his squad. He is empowered to make whatever decisions he thinks are in the best interests of Manchester United. That continues to be the case."
It means Ferguson is behind the concrete approach for Wigan's Antonio Valencia which Latics chairman Dave Whelan is expecting within the next fortnight, and he will be the one who decides if United should make Bayern Munich a "crazy" offer for Franck Ribery and the level they should ultimately go to.
Not that United are completely immune from the credit crunch, given corporate seats will be difficult to shift in their entirety in the coming season, even though the Red Devils are bidding for a fourth consecutive league title.
However, the impact on Ferguson will be negligible.
"Nothing that has happened over the past four years would lead you to believe the owners are not going to continue investing in the team," added the spokesman.
"A substantial number of world-class players have been brought to the club in the past few years and that will still be the case."
Indeed, given confirmation US finance giant Aon are to become new shirt sponsors in 2010, a positive spin on the past two weeks would emphasise the removal of two areas of uncertainty, allowing the club to focus on what lies ahead free from the spectre of future problems.
"Two big issues have now been removed which, in its own way, is good for everyone," the Glazer spokesman added.
ATLETICO WILL LISTEN TO AGUERO OFFERS
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says the club will listen to "interesting offers" for Chelsea target Sergio Aguero.
The Argentina international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge after the Blues failed in their bids to sign Real Madrid new boy Kaka and Valencia striker David Villa.
Atletico have previously stated that they intend to keep Aguero at the Vicente Calderon but it now appears they may be prepared to sell highly-rated forward.
"We will open talks if an interesting offer is made," Cerezo told French radio station RMC.
"Many people have spoken about Aguero but the truth is that Atletico have not been contacted by any suitor."
RONALDO PRIDE OVER "HISTORIC" BID
Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed his pride at being the subject of an "historic" £80million bid from Real Madrid.
The Manchester United and Portugal winger is set to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the Bernabeu giants after the English side accepted the offer on Thursday.
"I have had my time at Man United. It's time to look forward and £80million is quite a sum of money. This deal is historic," said Ronaldo, who is currently on holiday in Los Angeles.
"It's flattering when two of the top teams in the world want you to play for them.
"Now I can look forward to Real Madrid and a new stage in my career. I learned of the deal here in LA and heard from my people that United had accepted."
Meanwhile, Ronaldo could make Real debut in Dublin next month.
Madrid will report for training on July 10 before travelling to the Irish capital three days later where they will stay until July 22.
A friendly has been scheduled although the details are not confirmed with the club's opponents yet to be determined.
WIGAN CONFIRM UNITED VALENCIA BIDS
Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed that Manchester United have made offers for Antonio Valencia.
It was reported at the weekend that Premier League champions United and Primera Liga giants Real Madrid had bid in excess of £16million for the Ecuador international.
Real - who have had a world-record £80m bid for United's Cristiano Ronaldo accepted - have since stated that they have not shown an interest in Valencia since January.
However, Whelan has declared that United have been in contact with DW Stadium officials for the past two to three months and that they have also submitted initial offers.
He told Sky Sports News when asked about Valencia: "They (United) have been in touch with us and we will be starting negotiations very shortly, I would imagine.
"United have been in touch with us over Antonio for the last two or three months, expressing an interest and actually putting cash offers on the table.
"Those things have got to be picked up now. I think they were waiting to see if Ronaldo actually went to Real, which has happened."
He added: "Things will develop over the next seven to 14 days.
"The master, which is Sir Alex, he makes his moves when he is ready. He has strong interest in Antonio, there is no question in that.
"He had him watched practically every, single match last year. He has got a very strong interest in him. We are just sat on the fence now."
Whelan, though, is adamant that Wigan are not eager to cash in on Valencia.
"We are not desperate to sell Antonio, I'm telling you. If I can keep that lad, I'm going to keep him. He is one brilliant player," added Whelan.
"So there is no pressure on me, or our football club to sell him. If Man United don't want to make a (written) offer, I'll be delighted and we will have him in our team next season."
But the Wigan chairman admits that he will not stand in the 23-year-old's way if he expresses a desire to move to Old Trafford and the club's asking price is met.
He said: "What is difficult is to stop a lad like Antonio Valencia, who has got ambition. It is difficult to stop a footballer, who wants to get to the very, very top of the ladder.
"I would never stand in the way of a footballer who can go to bigger and better clubs, and you can't get bigger and better than Man United.
"If Antonio Valencia says to me, 'chairman, I want to go to Manchester United' and we get the right fee, the deal will be done."
KAKA REJOICES AT RONALDO ARRIVAL
Real Madrid new-boy Kaka is excited by the prospect of playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo next season.
The Brazilian superstar completed a big-money move to El Santiago Bernabeu on Monday, with his £56million switch from AC Milan breaking records.
However, a proposed £80million move for Ronaldo would see Real eclipse that deal almost immediately.
With Manchester United having reluctantly accepted that the Portuguese international is set to move on this summer, his arrival in Spain now appears to be a formality.
Real president Florentino Perez had vowed to bring Ronaldo to the capital upon his return to office, and appears poised to keep his word.
His arrival will further heighten the air of expectation which currently surrounds Real following their exploits in the transfer market, but Kaka for one is delighted to be part of such an ambitious project.
"I rejoice in the signing of Cristiano," the 27-year-old said on his arrival in South Africa where Brazil are defending their Confederations Cup title.
"I do not want to talk any more about this subject because I am here with the Selecao and we are only thinking about winning the Confederations Cup.
"But there's no doubt that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world and he will help Real Madrid fight for every title next season."
RONALDO MOVE BACKED BY BLATTER
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has defended Real Madrid's record-breaking £80million move for Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Spanish giants have agreed to shell out the huge sum just days after completing a big-money move for Brazilian superstar Kaka.
Real are also reported to be considering a move for Valencia striker David Villa, with another substantial outlay required in order to land the Spain international.
Their exploits in the transfer market have made a mockery of the ongoing global recession and have been blasted in some quarters.
However, FIFA supremo Blatter insists the recent dealings only go to prove that football remains in good shape despite the financial chaos which has engulfed the world.
"It means that our product is still a good product," Blatter said ahead of the Confederations Cup.
"If this is the game of the people, they need stars."
He added: "Okay, it is a lot of money, but he is performing.
"There is still demand to have a star.
"We are on the market, and we are on a very sensitive market nowadays because there is an economic crisis. In football, we are in still on the good market."
Blatter also believes that player valuations were inevitably going to rise as record-breaking deals which shocked the world have been going on for years.
"It was already $50 million (£30m) more than 10 years ago," he said, hinting at Inter Milan's swoop for Brazil international Ronaldo in 1997.
"So what is 80 million pounds now? That means there is still demand to have a star."
UNITED EYE ALEXIS SANCHEZ DEAL
Alexis Sanchez's agent claims Manchester United want to sign the Udinese forward.
The Chile international's representative, Fernando Felicevich, claims the Red Devils are one of a number of Premier League clubs in talks about a potential deal for the 20-year-old.
Sanchez impressed in Serie A last season after spending the previous campaign on loan with Argentinian outfit River Plate and now it looks like he could be set for a move to England.
"My partner is currently in England working on the transfer of Alexis," Felicevich told Setanta.com.
"Yes, we have spoken to Manchester United, but not just to United. We have also held talks with other English teams. We are trying to do the transfer this summer."
WIGAN APOLOGISE OVER MARTINEZ DELAY
Wigan have apologised to supporters over the delay in naming Roberto Martinez as their new manager.
However the club are "confident" the wrangle with Swansea over compensation for the Spaniard's backroom staff will be resolved next week.
Martinez, 35, arrived at the ground yesterday in anticipation of being presented to the media. However, instead he was not called.
It is understood he has agreed a three-year deal to succeed Steve Bruce, now with Sunderland, at the DW Stadium.
The club have now released a statement to bring supporters up to speed with the situation.
It read: "Wigan hoped to unveil Roberto Martinez as new manager yesterday. But due to Swansea City wanting further compensation for Roberto's backroom team it was felt that delaying the announcement of Martinez was the only option.
"Wigan would like to apologise to the media at yesterday's event and to the supporters for the delay.
"The club would like to stress that talks with Roberto have been extremely positive and personal terms have been agreed.
"We are confident to resolve the issue by early next week. We have already agreed a compensation package to Swansea City for Roberto and talks are ongoing between the clubs about the backroom staff.
"Once these issues have been resolved we will be able to unveil Roberto as new manager and get on with the job of preparing for next season. Thank you all for your patience."
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins claims the club has been "left in limbo" over the affair and is eager to bring an end to the saga.
Martinez is keen to take his assistant Graeme Jones and chief scout Kevin Reeves with him.
Jenkins told the club's official website: "Roberto and Wigan were fully aware we wanted compensation for them both, not just to buy out their contracts but for the vast amount of knowledge and experience they hold.
"To lose our manager is bad enough but to think we would also lose our assistant manager and chief scout for nothing in the same compensation agreement as Roberto's is unfair and disrespectful to our football club and our fans.
"It's dragged on far too long. We've been left in limbo for the last seven to 10 days and it has clearly and severely hampered our search for a potential successor and our preparations for the new season."
PELLEGRINI FIRES TRANSFER WARNING
Real Madrid manager Manuel Pellegrini has fired an ominous warning to the football world after revealing the club have not set a limit on their transfer activity.
The Spanish giants have already signed Kaka and have had a world-record bid accepted for Manchester United winegr Cristiano Ronaldo.
Valencia striker David Villa is thought to be next on the shopping list, while Arsenal's Gael Clichy has been rumoured as a target in plans to match Barcelona's treble-winning season of La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey glory.
Pellegrini admits that Real - driven by newly-elected president Florentino Perez and director Jorge Valdano - are prepared to do what is neccesary to build a 'versatile squad'.
"We don't have a specific number of reinforcements we have to make," he told Real's official website.
"We are trying to come up with a versatile squad. Real Madrid will play in three championships next year and should not leave any one of them aside.
"I'd rather not talk about future signings because it would all be speculation at this stage. There are many good players that could sign for Real Madrid."
He added: "This is an important time for Real Madrid. A capable man like Florentino Perez has taken over the club and has been joined by Jorge Valdano, someone who has always been associated to all areas of the football world.
"They are building a great team, so it's natural for many players to want to sign for Real Madrid."
HAMMERS EYE JIMENEZ SWOOP
West Ham technical director Gianluca Nani has confirmed the club are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Luis Jimenez.
The Chile international has been linked with a move to the Hammers and Tottenham and Nani, who moved to Upton Park from Brescia last year, thinks the 24-year-old could be a good acquisition to Gianfranco Zola's squad.
"We have a coach who likes to play football on the ground and Jimenez is a great player," Nani told FC Inter News.
"He is currently an Inter player, but we still have two months left in the market.
"I like him very much - I wanted him to come to Brescia years ago."
AGENT: ARSENAL WANT SAKHO
Paris St Germain defender Mamadou Sakho could join either Arsenal or Bayern Munich, according to the player's agent.
Sakho has been linked with a move to the Gunners, with reports claiming scout Gilles Grimandi has been keeping track of his progress.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is said to be in the market for defensive reinforcements, and Ajax centre-back Thomas Vermaelen looks set to join the Emirates Stadium outfit.
Sakho, 19, could also be a target of the Premier League club, but, according to agent Tim Hager, the Frenchman is also being eyed by Bayern.
Hager told Sport: "He will be moving clubs this summer. Arsenal are interested, but the club are too cheap at the moment.
"Yes, I think a transfer will happen soon. He wants to play football in England and Arsenal are a good club but Manchester United is a better club.
"Arsenal want him, but Manchester United not yet. Barcelona in Spain, and Bayern Munich in the German league are also interested. They are all the teams at the moment that are interested in the player.
"But the most interested club is Arsenal, they want him the most. Bayern Munich is a top European club, so I think it will be Bayern or Arsenal."
McGHEE: HOOPS WERE FIRST CHOICE
Mark McGhee was delighted to be named the new manager of Aberdeen but admitted bossing Celtic would have been his first choice.
The 52-year-old has signed a one-year rolling contract to return to the club where he enjoyed a glittering period as a player between 1978 and 1984, that included a European Cup Winners' Cup triumph.
McGhee takes over at Pittodrie following Jimmy Calderwood's departure on the final day of the season.
The former Wolves, Reading and Leicester boss stressed that Aberdeen's supporters should not worry about the fact that Pittodrie was not his initial preference.
He said: "Aberdeen fans know that in Scottish football on a scale of one to three you have Rangers and Celtic and then Aberdeen comes in third.
"I think that any player or manager has the right to want to play or manage at the best club possible.
"I have looked at that opportunity, I didn't get that job but I then moved on to come to Aberdeen quickly with a total positive feeling and a total commitment.
"The Celtic thing should not in any way undermine things - quite the opposite actually. Maybe Aberdeen fans should be thinking that they have a manager that was considered by Celtic."
The former Motherwell boss revealed that he decided to join the Dons before being told by Celtic that he would not be the man to replace Gordon Strachan.
McGhee explained: "I sent Willie Miller a text last Friday to say that I was at a stage where I was prepared to speak seriously about coming to Aberdeen at the exclusion of anything that was happening at Celtic.
"I didn't actually know that I hadn't got the Celtic job until the Saturday morning.
"I had not received any unofficial word from Celtic, it was just at that point I was worried about losing the opportunity of coming to Aberdeen so I sent Willie a text. I hope that reassures a few of the fans."
Aberdeen have reportedly had to pay McGhee's former club Motherwell around £200,000 following lengthy compensation negotiations between the clubs.
McGhee was never worried about the deal falling through.
He said: "I knew that John Boyle (the Motherwell chairman) understood where I was coming from and that the time was right for me to leave Motherwell.
"I knew that he would drive a hard bargain as he is a good businessman. That is why guys like John Boyle and Stewart Milne (the Aberdeen chairman) own football clubs.
"I knew they would get the best deals for their clubs and it just took a little bit of time to get to that but the desire was always there to make it happen."
McGhee is not concerned by the fact he has been signed on a rolling deal, and believes it may be the best deal for everyone involved.
"The contract is the club's doing," he said. "Contracts don't interest me.
"I come and I do the job for whatever length of time that seems right. I'm here for as long as it is working, Aberdeen is making progress and the people want me here."
McGhee believes he can improve upon the performances of his predecessor Jimmy Calderwood.
He added: "I think there are the foundations to develop the team further than Jimmy has taken it.
"Jimmy has got them to fourth in the last two years as well as two semi-finals, which was a fantastic performance. I think there is a basis of a team here that can be improved and developed into a team that is good enough to get to a cup final."
Aberdeen's director of football Willie Miller was delighted that the club finally managed to get their man.
Miller said: "In media terms three weeks was maybe quite a long time to find a manager, but in reality it wasn't that long as there was a lot of work that had to be done in terms of whittling down the shortlist so the board and myself could focus on the manager we wanted.
"There was the little complication that he was in line for the Celtic job as well so that held things up.
"We have only had about a week to get the deal done. We did have a few challenges during that week but I'm pleased that we have now got him in place."
DOSSENA COULD STAY AT LIVERPOOL
Andrea Dossena would be happy to remain at Liverpool, according to the full-back's agent.
Dossena signed moved to Anfield from Udinese last summer but struggled to make an impact during his debut campaign in the Premier League.
Juventus have been linked with a move for the defender, and Dossena has confirmed he would like to play for the Serie A giants.
However, the Italy international's representative, Roberto La Florio, has stated that Liverpool are keen to retain his services.
"We have spoken with Liverpool and with Benitez and we received confirmation that the club are keen on holding onto Dossena," La Florio told Sportal.it.
"However, we all know what the market is like and when a certain offer comes along then negotiations open up.
"So far neither us nor Liverpool have been presented with an offer but we did have contact with Juve last year.
"Dossena is fine in England. He would be happy to return, but under certain conditions. Juve are making their own evaluations and they will contact us if they are interested. We will wait."
PEARCE HAPPY TO STAY IN 'FANTASTIC JOB'
England Under-21 coach Stuart Pearce has agreed personal terms with the Football Association to remain in his current job for another two years.
Pearce has guided his youngsters to the European Championships, which start in Sweden on Monday, and has also received glowing praise from Fabio Capello after assisting the Italian with the senior team.
Capello wants Pearce with him at next year's World Cup but his new deal will run beyond that so the former Manchester City manager can take charge of the next Under-21 campaign. His current contract would run out at the end of these finals.
"I've agreed my contract with the FA in principle," Pearce said. "It's a case of signing it. It might be signed this week when Trevor (Sir Trevor Brooking, FA director of football development) comes out.
"Do I enjoy my job? Yes I do. I think it is a fantastic job. Would I like to stay for another two years? Yes I would. In principle we have agreed finances. As far as I'm concerned it's done.
"I've never been one to tout my name around and chase jobs here there and everywhere. If I'm happy in my work place, I stay there. I did that as a player and will do the same as a manager."
Pearce arrived at the Under-21s' training camp in Varberg on the west coast of Sweden, where the squad have been greeted by torrential rain ahead of their opener against Finland in Halmstad on Monday.
Captain Steven Taylor, Tom Huddlestone and Aaron Lennon are among the high-profile players who miss the tournament through injury but there has been no repeat of two years ago when David Bentley withdrew citing fatigue and Gabriel Agbonlahor could not be contacted to confirm his call-up.
Agbonlahor is in the current squad, which was bolstered by James Milner and Theo Walcott after they completed seniors duty.
Nedum Onuoha, who is tipped to be named stand-in captain, and Micah Richards trained separately as injury precautions.
Pearce said: "The training ground has been a good place to be, they haven't bought into the normal nonsense at the end of the season about players being tired and they've played too many games.
"The buy-in from the players has been outstanding. (David) Wheater and (Michael) Kightly have had operations. You could go through the pack. (Danny) Welbeck was desperate to be here. The captain, it goes without saying, wanted to be a part of it.
"If we are fortunate enough to go to the final there is no doubt I'll look back and one or two people that aren't here will deserve to have a hand on that trophy."
Pearce believes he has improved as a manager since taking the previous crop to the semi-finals in Holland before losing to the hosts after a marathon shoot-out.
The squad have been practising penalties after every training session to ensure they are prepared for anything. It is the type of thoroughness Pearce learned in the last two years after travelling to clubs in Europe and watching the likes of Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti oversee training.
"I watched him (Mourinho) work," Pearce said. "There is not a manager around that you don't learn from, whether it is him or Ancelotti.
"I also watched (Italy striker Mario) Balotelli train and know what a force he will be in the tournament.
"I've got to be more knowledgeable than two years ago."
England are considered as one of the favourites and Pearce feels victory could be important ahead of the World Cup next year in South Africa.
"I think it would be massive for English football," he said.
"If we are good enough to win this tournament, and it is a big ask, I think three or four players in the squad will be on the plane to South Africa."
CISSE ANGRY OVER SUNDERLAND SNUB
Djibril Cisse has slammed the way he was treated by Sunderland, but insists he is happy to be heading elsewhere this summer.
The Frenchman enjoyed a productive loan spell with the Black Cats last season and had hoped to see that agreement made permanent.
He claims to have been advised that the club were also keen to bring him in on a full-time basis, only to see no deal materialise at the end of the campaign.
Unwilling to head back to Marseille, his parent club, Cisse now finds himself in limbo, but believes it will not take long for him to find another club.
"I went into the final game thinking that I was going to be taken on," he told The Guardian.
"Because I had been told, when we are safe, we talk contracts. It's either a lie or a misunderstanding on my side but I think I understand English well enough to understand what that sentence means.
"I am angry because I tried to talk to them in January about my future and the manager [Ricky Sbragia] said: 'Djib, you have to stop talking'. So I stopped talking.
"The chairman [Niall Quinn] said I had to wait until we are safe, so I wait until the last day to hear: 'Thank you, we are not going to take up the option.'
"Luckily, I have other opportunities, otherwise I would be stuck."
Sunderland had agreed a 9million euros (£7.7m) deal with Marseille upon taking Cisse on loan, and the 28-year-old believes he would have provided good value for money.
"They had to pay 9million euros to Marseille, which was £7m at the time and it is now about £8m, but I still don't think that is a lot of money for a striker who is going to score 15 goals," he added.
"I can't take this excuse, that's why I am annoyed. If you want to stay in the Premier League and try to be regulars in the Premier League, you're going to have to pay more than £10m for strikers.
"I am just waiting to see who they buy. Are they going to find a £6m striker or are they going to buy a £12-15m striker?"
Despite his disenchantment at the way things went for him at Sunderland, Cisse admits he would be willing to discuss terms with a Premier League side this summer.
"If I had the chance to come back to another English club, I'd have to face Sunderland and it would be up to me to make them regret their decision," he said.
"Sometimes you have to be strong and show the people that they made a big mistake. Obviously, what I did this season wasn't good enough for Ricky and Niall so we will see next season."

Shamrock Rovers V Real Madrid is that the match they're on about??
PEREZ - REAL WON'T GO INTO DEBT
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists that the club will not go into debt after the signing of Kaka and the imminent arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Perez went as far as to say that the transfers would actually generate Real more money in the long-term.
Even for the man who masterminded the deals to bring Luis Figo and Zinedine Zidane to the Bernabeu in his first spell as president, this past week has been nothing short of sensational for Perez and Real.
After shelling out £56million to AC Milan for Kaka on Monday, Real are now close to signing Ronaldo for £80million after Manchester United accepted their offer on Thursday.
However, the large sums of money involved in both deals - with Real also reportedly set to sign David Villa this summer - has people questioning where the funds are coming from.
Perez insists that all the funds would be coming from within the club, as he highlighted how he believed the deals could increase the club's revenue.
"On the contrary, we think we can improve our accounts by aiming for three goals," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Increasing ticket sales, increasing bank loans and increasing the club's economic value.
"(The money) is exclusively the club's not mine.
"Real Madrid take about €400million a year, the fruit of three sources of income - a third from ticket sales, a third from television rights and a third from merchandising."
STRUGGLING CLUBS RISK SIGNINGS BAN
Football League clubs will be barred from signing new players if they breach regulations on tax payments.
League clubs voted to introduce the new regulations at their annual general meeting in a bid to ensure all employee-related payments to HM Revenue and Customs are met.
Any club which falls behind with payments will be subject to a transfer embargo until the debt is cleared as the League attempts to make its members more prudent.
Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney said: "It is only right we do not permit clubs that are unable to meet the costs associated with their existing playing staff to make further new player commitments."
Clubs have also agreed to give the League written permission to monitor their tax affairs directly with HMRC, who have welcomed the new arrangement.
Mawhinney added: "This new regime will provide us with an early warning system where clubs are facing financial problems.
"It should also help prevent HMRC debt reaching levels that otherwise could hinder the potential rescue of the club through a CVA.
"More importantly, football generally needs to develop a culture of paying its debts rather than putting them off for another day. This will help our clubs to become more financially sustainable in the longer term."
Meanwhile, clubs also approved a proposal from Derby to increase the number of substitutes for Football League matches to seven, from the current five.
BIRMINGHAM SWOOP FOR DANN
Birmingham have signed Coventry's 22-year-old centre-back Scott Dann for an undisclosed fee.
The England Under-21 international was also linked with Wolves who beat Birmingham to the Championship title last season.
But Birmingham have won the battle for Dann's signature and describe the undisclosed fee as a club record for a defender.
Dann began his career with Walsall before moving to Coventry in January 2008, playing 49 times for the Sky Blues last season and scoring four goals.
One of those goals was the winner for Coventry against Birmingham at the Ricoh Arena.
BAYERN WARN RIBERY SUITORS
Bayern Munich have warned Franck Ribery's suitors it would take a 'crazy' offer for them to sell the Frenchman.
Ribery's future at the German giants has been the subject of conjecture for the last few months with a number of clubs chasing his signature.
Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for Ribery as a possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, while Real Madrid are also thought to be keen on luring the France international to the Bernabeu.
Bayern are reluctant to sell the talented attacker and general manager Uli Hoeness only a mammoth offer would change their minds.
"We have said that we will only negotiate under certain conditions," Hoeness told Tz.
"Namely, when another club does something crazy."
MARTINS HOPES TO STAY AT NEWCASTLE
Obafemi Martins has revealed that he would be willing to lead Newcastle's promotion push next season.
The Nigeria international had been expected to be among those heading for the exit this summer following the Magpies' relegation into the Championship.
However, he insists that helping the club bounce back into the Premier League at the first time of asking remains his priority.
A hefty salary and mounting interest away from St James' Park could yet see him offloaded but, for now, Martins is planning for life in the second tier.
"I hope I am not sold," he told the Evening Chronicle.
"If the club decides to sell me I have no choice but to go. But my aim is to stay and help get Newcastle promoted next season.
"I love living in Newcastle and there are few better places to live and play.
"I know the club is for sale and that is hard for the fans. Yet I hear there could be some light at the end of the tunnel eventually."
Martins has recently been in Italy for treatment on a groin problem, but insists he will be ready to head back to Tyneside in time for pre-season.
He added: "I have been in Italy for treatment lately.
"There I spoke to a lot of people about Juventus and their demotion to Serie B (in 2006).
"Back then, they still kept very, very good players such as Pavel Nedved, Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluigi Buffon. That helped them get promoted, so I can take a lot of solace from that."
KILMARNOCK TO LET SENIOR TRIO GO
Kilmarnock have revealed that they will not be renewing the contracts of experienced players Allan Johnston, David Lilley and Grant Murray.
The Rugby Park club also confirmed they have released three youth players - Scott Anson, Paul McInnes and Thomas Nolan.
Meanwhile, captain Gary Locke is considering the offer of a coaching role at Rugby Park. A statement released on the club's website however, revealed that the club have no plans to reduce Jim Jefferies' budget for the first-team squad.
"Jim Jefferies has been informed that there are currently no plans to reduce the first team squad budget next season, which has been increased in each of the previous three seasons to its current level of circa £2 million.
"The club wishes to extend its thanks and best wishes to "out of contract" players Allan Johnston, David Lilley and Grant Murray who have been great servants to the club over a period of several years and have always displayed a highly professional approach to their training and playing duties.
"Club Captain Gary Locke is also out of contract but has been offered a coaching role with a view to retaining the benefit of his extensive experience. He is considering his options at present.
"Scott Anson, Paul McInnes and Thomas Nolan joined the first team squad last season having graduated from the club's youth development scheme.
"As part of the planned reduction in the size of the first team squad, they have not been offered new contracts but that should not detract from the undoubted potential which they all possess.
"Everyone at the club who has observed their progress is confident that they will soon find new clubs and continue to play professional football at a high level for many years to come."
SOUTHGATE TARGETS HUNGRY PLAYERS
Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is looking for hungry players as he attempts to guide the club back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The former England defender is ready to launch his summer recruitment drive knowing he is likely to lose Turkey international Tuncay Sanli and with Stewart Downing almost certain to follow him out of the club once he has recovered from foot surgery.
Boro have already been linked with hugely experienced Manchester United duo Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, although their rebuilding programme is yet to get off the ground in earnest.
However, Southgate knows exactly what he is looking for as he tries to put together a team which can cope with the very different challenge of life in the Championship.
He said: "It's still very early days and we are waiting for the transfer market to move into gear when people start returning from holiday.
"But we are focused on what we are looking for. The key element is that we bring in the right kind of character.
"Of course we want to bring in good players, but they have to have a hunger for the challenge of helping to mount a promotion bid.
"If they have experience of the league we are going into, then this will obviously help.
"But that doesn't mean we are ruling out signing Premier League players."
There has been general agreement on Teesside that Boro lacked experience last season as they slipped out of the top flight, and that is an issue which will be addressed as a matter of urgency.
Southgate told the Evening Gazette: "One of the things we need is more leadership in the dressing room and on the pitch.
"We also need to get the balance right between experience and energy."
Boro's scouting team is currently assessing various options with no firm approaches having yet been made.
But much of what they may be able to do could depend upon which members of the current squad stay and which move on.
Tuncay has indicated he wants to stay in England, but that he wants to play in the Premier League, while any hopes of cashing in on England winger Downing in the short-term were dashed by the foot injury which is set to sideline him for between four and six months.
Downing, the subject of a failed £15million bid from Tottenham in January, has been told he can leave if a club comes in with the right offer, although that may not now happen until the new year.
However, it is understood Boro are not looking to cash in on 22-year-old defender David Wheater, who has been linked with Aston Villa.
The Midlanders are reportedly ready to offer £6million plus striker Marlon Harewood for Wheater, although they are likely to receive short shrift if they do.
Harewood is not on Southgate's list of potential targets, while Boro would be looking for significantly more cash if they were to be persuaded to part with a home-grown player who has already committed himself to the fight for promotion.
AGENT: NO INTEREST IN HUNTELAAR
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar's agent says there has been no interest in the Real Madrid striker.
The Holland international joined Real from Ajax in January and has recently been linked with a move to Roma after the Spanish giants swooped for Kaka and set up a potential big-money move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, Huntelaar's agent, Arnold Oosterveer, insists his client will stay with the Spanish giants after bagging eight goals in 20 games for the Bernabeu outfit last season.
"I have not met (Real president) Florentino Perez and (Real sporting director) Jorge Valdano yet, but he is under contract for four years and is part of Real Madrid's plans," he told Calcio Mercato.
"We haven't been told anything by the directors and no meeting has been planned with them.
"I haven't been contacted by Roma. No team have asked for Huntelaar and all the rumours come from the press, including in England."
CALLEJA JOINS OSASUNA
Osasuna have signed midfielder Javier Calleja on a free transfer from Primera Division rivals Malaga.
The 31-year-old, who came up through the youth ranks at Real Madrid and also spent seven seasons at Villarreal, has agreed a two-year contract with the Pamplona-based side with the option of a third.
"Firstly I want to thank the interest of the clubs who have wanted to sign me and also thank Osasuna, who are a serious and responsible club and have shown a lot of interest in me," said Calleja, who has a buy-out clause of six million euros in his contract.
"Everybody I've spoken to has said very good things about the club."
UNITED SWOOP FOR MYRIE-WILLIAMS
Dundee United manager Craig Levein has welcomed the addition of highly-rated Jennison Myrie-Williams to his Tannadice squad.
The Tayside club have completed the signing of the 21-year-old on a two year contract, subject to international clearance.
The former England Under-18 international, who can play in midfield or attack, was signed by Bristol City from their academy, before a series of loan moves led to him falling out of the first team picture at Ashton Gate and being released at the end of the season.
Levein moved swiftly to capture a player he had long admired.
"Jennison is a player I've known about and admired for some time and up to about two years ago I would have said he was one of the brightest prospects in the country," Levein told the club's official website.
"Since then he's lost his way a bit through no real fault of his own and I'm delighted that we've managed to bring him to this club.
"He is a player who will not only excite the fans with his direct, quick running at defences, but he will also add pace to the team and strengthen our options going forward.
"He's still only 21 and I feel we can offer him the type of steady environment where he will now develop and fulfil his early promise.
"I'm excited about this signing and am sure he will develop into a real talent and a valuable asset for Dundee United.
TEVEZ TOPS WISH LIST FOR UNITED FANS
Manchester United fans have demanded all the £80million received from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo is reinvested in Sir Alex Ferguson's team - with Carlos Tevez top of their wish-list.
United have been trying to broker a deal with Tevez's advisor Kia Joorabchian, who had a meeting with chief executive David Gill last week aimed at resolving the matter.
However, with a world-record fee at their disposal if, as expected, Ronaldo moves to the Bernabeu later this month, United supporters see no reason to stall any longer, while Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery and Antonio Valencia of Wigan remain major targets.
Most United supporters will be happy to accept Sir Alex Ferguson's judgement on a player who nearly left Old Trafford last summer, since when his elaborate posturing and ego have only increased.
But, as compensation for losing the world player of the year, they want an assurance the massive fee will not be used to pay off part of the Glazer family's £650million debt.
"There is no information that it is anything other than the manager's decision but obviously there is huge pressure on the owners and it is a temptation when you are offered that much money," said Duncan Drasdo, chairman of the Manchester United Supporters Trust.
"That is exactly why we want to see a commitment from the owners that the money is going to remain within the club and available to strengthen the squad.
"We have sold the best player in the world. That is a big disappointment. If the money is reinvested into the club at least it will soften the blow."
Old Trafford insiders have attempted to assure supporters that is the case and also insist no agreement was in place when Ferguson famously declared during a press conference at the Club World Cup in Yokohama last December that "he would not sell that mob a virus".
Since then though, attitudes inside the Red Devils camp have hardened to the 24-year-old.
Ronaldo's disgracefully petulant reaction to being substituted during the victory over Manchester City did not go unnoticed, nor his body language in the immediate aftermath of defeat against Barcelona in Rome last month.
Given it was also apparent Ferguson no longer trusted Ronaldo to do any defensive work, forcing Wayne Rooney to play in a wider position that limits his growing abilities, the United boss simply decided trying to keep Ronaldo was no longer worth it, even if he talent is immense.
As someone whose departure along with Paul Ince and Andrei Kanchelskis in the summer of 1995 led to a newspaper poll calling for Ferguson to be sacked, only for United to respond by landing the double, Mark Hughes knows better than most that Ferguson should not be questioned at this point.
"There has been a lot of speculation about Ronaldo's future for a number of seasons, so that is not so much of a shock as maybe the level of investment Real Madrid is prepared to put in to acquire him," said Hughes.
"As we know, Sir Alex Ferguson makes key decisions very quickly. You suspect he has been involved in this and feels it is the right decision for the team and the club. You have to respect that."
MOURINHO EXPECTS ZLATAN STAY
Jose Mourinho is confident Zlatan Ibrahimovic will still be an Inter Milan player next season.
The Sweden international has been the subject of much transfer talk of late, with Spanish giants Barcelona reported to be keen on the languid frontman.
Some reports claimed the Catalan outfit had already reached an agreement with Ibrahimovic, with a big-money deal imminent.
Those rumours have proved to be wide of the mark, but the speculation surrounding Ibrahimovic's future rumbles on.
The 27-year-old has admitted that he could be tempted to move on this summer, but for now he remains an Inter player and his manager is keen for that to remain the case.
"I am calm about this and my calmness is because I know what football is like," Mourinho told Inter Channel.
"I know this is a market where agents do a lot of work, trying to do impossible things, and to make the world understand this would be impossible.
"I continue to believe that Ibrahimovic will be an Inter player next year. That is my opinion and no-one has told me any different.
"I also think our whole team will be better next season as (Diego) Milito and Thiago Motta are two players with something important to give."
Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, continues to fuel the speculation regarding a possible exit from Giuseppe Meazza by refusing to commit his future to Inter.
"My future? I know where I will be playing next season, but I will keep that to myself," he said while away on international duty with Sweden.
HULL AND BORO EYE HAREWOOD DEAL
Marlon Harewood's agent has revealed Hull and Middlesbrough are just two of many clubs keen on signing the Aston Villa striker this summer.
Harewood failed to start a single Premier League game last season and he is ready to move on in search of regular first-team action.
Hull and Middlesbrough's interest in the 29-year-old was already out in the open but the player's representative, Phil Sproson, says the there are a host of other clubs chasing the forward.
"I think it is most likely Marlon will move on this summer," Sproson told Sky Sports' website.
"He is keen to be playing regular first-team football and he accepts the situation at Villa.
"There are a number of clubs interested in Marlon, including Hull and Middlesbrough, but nothing has been decided yet.
"It depends on whether any interested club can agree a deal with Aston Villa before anything can happe
CANNAVARO VOICES MADRID CONCERNS
Former Real Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro doubts whether the signings of Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo will solve the "internal problems" he believes exist at the Bernabeu.
Cannavaro has spent the past three seasons at Madrid but, having not been offered a new contract, will return to his previous club Juventus for the 2009/10 campaign.
And he is not convinced acquiring two world stars will help the club close the gap on treble winners Barcelona.
"The club is going to have to do more because these players will not solve the internal problems," said Cannavaro, who is currently with the Italy squad in South Africa building up to the Confederations Cup.
"The most important thing for the team is to achieve a group mentality."
Madrid have come under fire for spending 166 million euros on two players in the current economic climate, but Cannavaro is not surprised they have targeted the best.
"They are incredible figures, astronomical ones, especially in a world crisis as we are experiencing now," he said. "But those figures reflect the club culture of always being accustomed to being the best."
And Cannavaro expects Real Madrid president Florentino Perez's shopping spree to continue.
"I think Madrid need five signings," he said. "Most of them in attack, as that is Real Madrid's playing mentality."

This was the one i missed
It's all happening at the Bernabeu today with Kaka cast in the centre of the drama. The Brazilian playmaker is expected to complete his transfer from AC Milan to Real Madrid later today, with reports that the world record deal is in place.
Also, the Merengues have completed a lower key deal to resign Alvaro Negredo from Almeria. The fee there is considerably less than the €67 million required for Kaka. It's in the region of €5m.
One player who could be on the way out of the Bernabeu is Ruud van Nistelrooy; accoding to reports, the Dutchman could move to either Fulham or Tottenham Hotspur.
Madrid's great rivals, Barcelona, have also been linked with a number of moves. Apparently, Pep Guardiola has sounded out Javier Mascherano of Liverpool, while Franck Ribery and Cesc Fabregas have both been touted as Camp Nou targets.
Meanwhile, Luis Enrique has encouraged David Villa to transfer to the European champions but Eidur Gudjohnsen and Alianksandr Hleb both look set to depart. Panathinaikos and Marseille are reportedly tracking Gudjohnsen while Stuttgart would have Hleb back in a heartbeat, provided they could match his wage demands.
Bayern Munich's Franz Beckenbauer has demanded action over Ribery; the Kaizer wants the Frenchman to either sign a new, extended deal at the club or else be gone.
Arsenal are close to wrapping up a deal for Thomas Vermaelen, of Ajax; the player disclosed details of the transfer earlier today.
North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly seeking John Carew and Ashley Young of Aston Villa. Villa's Emile Heskey has confirmed that he would relish the opportunity to hook up with Michael Owen, out of contract at Newcastle.
Champions Manchester United needn't worry about losing Nemanja Vidic to AC Milan or Barcelona; the Serb's agent has stated that he will be staying at Old Trafford. However, Carlos Tevez's future remains up in the air. He has consulted his national team manager, Diego Maradona in the hope that his fellow Boca Juniors alumnus can help him decide his fate.
In Italy, David Trezeguet of Juventus has sparked a bidding war; the striker has alerted Roma, Milan and Lyon, according to various reports. Conversely, Gaetano D'Agostino is looking forward to completing his inevitable move to the Old Lady from Udinese.
Finally, the veteran Hernan Crespo has disclosed his intention to do well at his new club, Genoa.

Defender Nuno Valente, midfielder Segundo Castillo and winger Andy van der Meyde have all left Everton.
Former Portugal defender Valente, 34, played 60 games in four seasons, but only two in an injury-hit 2008-09.
Ecuador's Castillo, 27, returns to Red Star Belgrade after a season-long loan. He played 13 times, scoring once.
Dutchman Van der Meyde endured injury, disciplinary and personal problems after joining from Inter Milan in 2005, making just 24 appearances the Toffees.
Everton confirmed on Friday that the 29-year-old's contract was not being renewed.

Man Utd losing about 3 players,
Have players at the end of their game who arent very good.
Giggs, Neville, Scholes and Van Der Sar. Ronlado gone, nani and park could both go, they need about 3 more midfielders and a new striker and defender.
Will Alex sign some big names before the window ends... Im not sure, i think Man Utd could struggle to put in a good top performance to get top spot, still can't see them dropping into 4th, but 2nd/3rd looks likely.
Liverpool have barely any money, they can't afford another bid for David Silva...
They might be getting 2 second rate real madrid players 1 who has never made it off the bench. Liverpool may be getting them for Alonso.
Mascherano Might be goign Barca now.
Dossena and other useless players going.
Liiverpool not got enough to strengthen their team and may lose some key players. Will they be able to put up a fight for the title? I can't see it, Torres will be amazing next season as will gerrard but them alone, it wont win the premiership and i could see them slipping back into 3rd/4th.
Arsenal, Strengthening their team with a few denders this transfers window, 3 defenders could all come to Arsenal and more to come since Eboue and Gallas could be leaving.
Adebayor might be staying now, but need to sell him and buy a good midfielder since they will get big money for him.
They have Enough strikers and with a couple of additions this year we will have good depth. Rosicky back, Eduardo back.
Should be able to put in a good shot on the title. I think they will at least win a minor cup this year, F.a or Carling.
I think challenging the title next season, will come top 3. Could win but it would be unlikely.
Chelsea, who i think are going to clean up this year, they have a very very powerful team on form, they looked most threatening the second half of the season and in champions league. They probably wont lose any real key players, Joe Cole will be back, Pato and Pirlo could be in the squad in big names and other since they have the money to spend a lot. If this new manager does well i think they will take the premiership maybe even europe.
I think they have best chance of winning the title, and if they come worse than 2nd id be surprised.

Moyes Axes Toffees Duo
Everton boss David Moyes has wasted little time in clearing out his ranks at Goodison Park after releasing Portuguese full-back Nuno Valente and Dutch winger Andy van der Meyde.
Valente moved to Merseyside in 2005 but has struggled with injuries and last season saw his place at left-back handed to Leighton Baines.
Moyes, who has also in the past preferred Joleon Lescott in Valente's specialist position, has decided the 34-year-old no longer has a future at the club.
Van der Meyde joined Everton from Inter Milan four years ago, but has endured a miserable time through injuries, poor discipline and personal problems.
Moyes continued his cull by releasing youngsters John Irving, John Paul Kissock, Scott Spencer, Eunan O'Kane and Cory Sinnott, while Segundo Castillo has returned to Red Star Belgrade after his loan spell came to an end.

Agent: It's Arsenal or Bayern for Sakho
Paris St Germain defender Mamadou Sakho could join Arsenal or Bayern Munich, according to the player's agent.
Sakho has been linked with a move to the Gunners, with reports claiming scout Gilles Grimandi has been keeping track of his progress.
Sakho, 19, could also be a target of the Premier League club, but, agent Tim Hager says the Frenchman is also being watched by Bayern.
Good news for Arsenal.

Arsenal funds are under control, they are paying them off at their own rate and the club is finacially stable..
Arsenal therefore are getting around 30 - 35m transfer budget.
Liverpool aren't they have to keep getting loans out, and now losing 42m this year, its just getting worse.
and you wont have a new stadium for a long time yet.
Arsenal are only in debt because of the stadium really.
Arsenal would only be in 40m debt is they didnt built Emirates stadium, sinc eit cost 430m.

Cristiano Ronaldo's proposed £80m transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid not only promises to rewrite the record books, but also potentially spark a buying frenzy from the Old Trafford giants that has not been seen for many a year.
While the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov have all moved for substantial fees in recent years, rarely has manager Sir Alex Ferguson had the opportunity - or desire - to bring in a collection of big-money signings in one transfer window.
The loss of one of the world's greatest players has prompted a mixed reaction among United fans - some bemoaning the departure of a player that has spearheaded the club's haul of nine trophies in three seasons, others happy to take the money for an unhappy player.
However one looks at it, though, United have a big gap to fill - and a huge sum of money with which to fill it.
Here, BBC Sport looks at some of the players who could be tasked with filling the void created by Ronaldo's switch to the Bernabeu.
Antonio Valencia
Name: Antonio Valencia
Age: 23
Position: Winger
Potential cost: £16m
Club: Wigan Athletic
Long linked with a switch to Old Trafford, Antonio Valencia would appear to be an obvious like-for-like replacement for Ronaldo.
Aged 23, just a year younger than the Portugal international, Valencia has impressed during his three years at Wigan with his pace and trickery, though a return of just seven goals in 83 appearances suggest he lacks Ronaldo's prolificacy in front of goal.
Valencia is widely expected to leave Wigan this summer, and Latics chairman Dave Whelan admits: "Sir Alex Ferguson had him watched in every game last season and he holds Antonio in high regard. There is no question he is interested."

Do you agree?
Franck Ribery
Name: Franck Ribery
Age: 26
Position: Winger
Potential cost: £30m
Club: Bayern Munich
The France winger would not come cheap, but he would bring to Old Trafford a proven ability to perform on the biggest stages.
With 37 caps and seven goals at international level, Ribery shook off a turbulent start to his career - when he represented five clubs in five years aged 17-22 - to become one of Europe's most consistent performers at club level.
Two impressive years at Marseille preceded a 25m euro move to Bayern Munich and his most productive years, with 20 goals in 53 appearances.
Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer has admitted Ribery could be sold if he does not extend his current deal at the Allianz Arena, but Manchester United sources have hinted the fee, combined with Ribery's age, could put Ferguson off making a bid.

Do you agree?
Karim Benzema
Name: Karim Benzema
Age: 21
Position: Striker
Potential cost: £25m
Club: Lyon
Although not a direct replacement for Ronaldo, Lyon forward Karim Benzema could at least go some way to replacing one facet of Ronaldo's game that proved so valuable to United in recent years - goals.
Ronaldo's haul of 71 goals in the past two seasons underlines the goal presence United will be missing, and Benzema comes with a lofty reputation to match his price tag.
The 6ft frontman has scored 43 goals in 112 appearances for Lyon - and would also bring a familiarity with a three-man frontline often favoured by Ferguson, having played across the front three in Lyon's 4-3-3 formation this season.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has insisted Benzema will not leave the club before the 2010 World Cup, but money talks in football - as United know only too well.
Sign or swerve? SIGN
Do you agree?
Sergio Aguero
Name: Sergio Aguero
Age: 21
Position: Forward
Potential cost: £45m
Club: Atletico Madrid
Another option if Ferguson is looking for a young, lethal forward, is Atletico Madrid's crown jewel Sergio Aguero.
The Argentine earned a move, aged just 17, to Atletico on the back of 23 goals in 54 appearances for Independiente and has followed that up with 42 goals in 112 appearances in Spain.
Now a regular member of the Argentina national squad, Aguero has been cutting his teeth alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano - and impressing all with his ability to create as well as score goals.
However, the darling of Madrid would not be cheap. Reports suggest it could take as much as £45m to lure him, while he will demand wages of over £11m a year BEFORE tax.
Too much to risk on a youngster still unproven in the Premier League, or a chance worth taking? Ferguson may feel he has safer bets in the pipeline...
Sign or swerve? SWERVE
Do you agree?
Arjen Robben
Name: Arjen Robben
Age: 25
Position: Winger
Potential cost: £20m
Club: Real Madrid
The purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo, allied to that of Brazilian playmaker Kaka, has left Real Madrid with an abundance of attacking talent - and many expect something akin to a firesale at the Bernabeu as a result.
And Manchester United could do worse than consider the mercurial Arjen Robben, equal parts inspirational and frustrating during his time at Chelsea between 2004 and 2007.
When not on the injury table - an occurrence all too frequent for the Dutchman's liking - the 25-year-old has proven pacy, skilful and with an eye for a goal and a pass.
Whether Real would be willing to sell, and whether Ferguson would consider buying a player deemed surplus to requirements by Jose Mourinho during the Portuguese's time at Chelsea, remain to be seen.
Sign or swerve? SWERVE
Do you agree?
David Silva
Name: David Silva
Age: 23
Position: Winger
Potential cost: £18m
Club: Valencia
An arguably less recognisable name, David Silva nonetheless has all the attributes Sir Alex Ferguson might be looking for in a forward.
The 23-year-old can play on either wing, or behind the frontman, and has developed into a key member of the Spain squad that won Euro 2008 and is ranked number one in the world.
Silva penned a new seven-year deal with Valencia last summer that ties him to Los Che until 2013, but the cash-strapped club could be forced to sell him.
There would also be the added bonus that Silva has long been a target of Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez - and wouldn't Ferguson just love getting one over on his Premier League rival?
Sign or swerve? SWERVE
Do you agree?
Aaron Lennon
Name: Aaron Lennon
Age: 22
Position: Winger
Potential cost: £18m
Club: Tottenham
Although not yet the finished product, Aaron Lennon could provide an interesting option for United.
The winger is young, fast, increasingly effective going forward, and tore strips off left-back Patrice Evra time and again in the Carling Cup final at Wembley in February.
With Spurs boss Harry Redknapp reportedly keen to conduct a huge clearout at Tottenham, the ol' wheeler-dealer might be willing to accept a big-money offer in order to fund his rebuilding job at White Hart Lane.
However, Lennon was arguably Tottenham's player of the season last year and, having only penned a new contract this season, appears settled and keen to play a part in the London club's revival under Redknapp.
Sign or swerve? SWERVE
Do you agree?
Carlos Tevez
Name: Carlos Tevez
Age: 25
Position: Forward
Potential cost: £25m
Club: Unattached
What list of potential replacements for Cristiano Ronaldo would be complete without the name of fans' favourite Carlos Tevez?
The Argentine has forged a sensational rapport with the United supporters with his full-throttle displays and knack of scoring important goals, and the Old Trafford faithful would love nothing more than to welcome him back to the club next season.
Although frustrated by a lack of starts in the 2008-2009 campaign, Cristiano Ronaldo's departure would surely make Tevez a key attacking force for United next season.
And the fact he is familiar with the way Ferguson - and the likes of Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov - works, would ensure a smooth transition from loan star to big-money buy.
However, reports suggest ties between Tevez and the club have already been severed. Ferguson's apparent reluctance to pay the £25m being asked for by Tevez's representatives to make his stay at Old Trafford permanent has upset a player with no shortage of suitors.
One such admirer is United's local rivals Manchester City and it is thought negotiations to take Tevez across the city are already well under way.
Now flush with cash, is it too late for United to snatch Tevez back from under the noses of the blue half of Manchester?

ELANO ATTRACTED BY ITALY
Manchester City playmaker Elano expects a conclusion over his future by the end of June.
The Brazil international has conceded he could leave City this summer after struggling for a regular starting role under manager Mark Hughes last season.
Reports have claimed Elano could be involved in a swap deal with Juventus striker David Trezeguet heading to Eastlands.
Of reported interest from Juve and also Inter Milan, Elano said: "They are two really big clubs, absolutely big clubs.
"(New Juve signing) Diego is like a brother, but I have a good relationship also with (Inter duo) Maicon and Julio Cesar.
"Inter and Juve are already in UEFA Champions League, Man City are still working to join that competition."
He added to Gazzetta dello Sport: "I've spoken with the Man City director before leaving with the national team.
"He knows I've a deal until 2011, but should a good offer arrive the club could sell me.
"The agreement is to have an update at the end of the month."

VUCINIC SHRUGS OFF UNITED RUMOURS
Roma striker Mirko Vucinic insists he wants to remain at the Stadio Olimpico despite reported interest from Manchester United.
Speculation has been rife that Vucinic is one of the players United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is considering as a replacement for Real Madrid bound Cristiano Ronaldo.
Reports in Italy suggest informal contact has been made between the clubs for the Montenegro forward but Vucinic, who recently signed a new four-year deal, is happy to stay at the capital club.
"It's certainly pleasing that a great club like that are interested in me," he told Corriere dello Sport. "But I have only heard about it from the newspapers.
"At the moment I'm only thinking about relaxing by the seaside with my family.
"I've just signed a new contract and I'd like to stay at Roma."
Roma reportedly refused a 22 million euro offer from United last summer for Vucinic but, knowing they have to sell to buy, could accept 25 million for the 25-year-old.

BUTRAGUENO BACKS DUO TO SHINE
Emilio Butragueno believes if Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka are as successful as Zinedine Zidane was at Real Madrid then the massive transfer fees the Spanish giants are splashing out this summer will be money well spent.
Madrid caused a huge stir in 2001 when they signed Zidane from Juventus for a world-record fee of 73.5million euros (£46m), and Florentino Perez is creating similar waves now after returning to the club presidency a fortnight ago.
Perez has already spent 67.2million euros (£56m) on Brazilian ace Kaka, while both that fee and the price paid for Zidane are set to be dwarfed after Madrid's offer of 94million euros (£80m) for Cristiano Ronaldo was accepted by Manchester United.
Madrid's incredible spending spree during a global financial crisis has led to plenty of debate and criticism, but Butragueno believes the investments will be worthwhile if the return is the same as Zidane provided during his five seasons at the Bernabeu.
"When Zidane was signed in 2001, everybody also thought that it was a lot of money. However, now nobody doubts that he was a profitable signing for Real Madrid," said Butragueno, a legendary former striker at Madrid and now the club's newly-installed director of institutional relations.
"It was worth it all to pay this money, for everything that he did in this stadium and what it meant for the club.
"There are signings of 15 or 20 million euros who do not perform and signings that cost what Cristiano and Kaka do, who do perform.
"I hope that all the players that sign for Real Madrid give the kind of performances that Zidane gave. That would be great for the club."
He added: "The fans demand to have the best players in the world. They are used to seeing its team win and playing well, so signing the best players is very smart."
Although Kaka is already in the bag, Madrid are still to confirm the signing of Ronaldo.
The Spanish giants expect to agree personal terms with the Portugal international in the coming days, and Butragueno is expecting big things from the FIFA World Player of the Year.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is going to give us great energy, speed, and goals. He is a complete player and from a footballing point of view he must be a key player for us," he said.
Kaka and Ronaldo are not set to be the only star signings joining the club this summer, with the likes of David Villa, Franck Ribery and Xabi Alonso also linked to Madrid.
That would suggest a bleak future for any Madrid youngsters hoping to break into the senior squad, but Butragueno prefers to look at the positives.
"I honestly think that it is very good that players like these come to the club. They will also set a good example for academy players if they happen to be great professionals," Butragueno added to Telemadrid.
"It's worse to sign a player who is not so good. Players such as Kaka and Cristiano will contribute many things to the youth team. These are the players that Real Madrid must always have."

Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards has warned the impending takeover of Portsmouth will fail if former Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra is involved.
Richards also dismissed suggestions he has had direct involvement in the deal which will see property billionaire Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim take over at Fratton Park.
The Middle Eastern businessman is close to buying the club from current owner Sacha Gaydamak with due diligence set to be completed next month.
Portsmouth have denied newspaper claims that former Thai prime minister Thaksin and Premier League supremo Richards have had a role to play in the deal.
Richards told BBC Radio Five Live: "At this stage the Premier League don't know if he is involved.
"The Premier League have met the advisors to Dr Sulaiman this week and we have made it very clear that we want to know who are the shareholders in the possible takeover of Portsmouth.
"Before it can be taken over the people who are involved have to meet the fit and proper persons test.
"There has been a suggestion that possibly Dr Thaksin is involved. If that is the case that takeover will not be allowed to go ahead."
Thaksin, who was ousted as Thailand's prime minister in 2006, had his British visa revoked last November after being convicted of corruption in his homeland.
He was sentenced to two years in jail and the Thai authorities have since been attempting to extradite him, recently tracking him down to Germany where he has been forced to give up his residence permit.
Asked if he himself had direct involvement in the takeover, Richards added: "Absolutely none at all.
"I did meet Dr Sulaiman in Rome. He phoned me up and asked me if I would meet him. He wanted to make it plain to me that he was trying to buy Portsmouth and I did meet him in Rome."
Richards distanced himself from Shinawatra and his advisor Pairoj Piempongsat, claiming it was stretching the truth to call them his friends.
"I knew the doctor before he became chairman of Manchester City," he said. "The Premier League did a tournament in Asia, and I met him.
"While he was chairman he did come and see me and I talked to him like I talked to all the chairmen.
"When you talk about friendship it's chairman to chairman, that's all."
He added: "When he (Piempongsat) was at City he was one of the directors that came along and asked about transfers and you do get to know people. But that's as far as it's gone."
But Richards admitted he was the one who introduced Gaydamak and Shinawatra.
He said: "I did originally introduce Sacha Gaydamak to Dr Thaksin at a game at Manchester City when I was there. I may have introduced Pairoj - I couldn't tell you that for certain - but I definitely introduced Dr Thaksin to Mr Gaydamak."
Portsmouth released a statement this morning which read: "Portsmouth FC would like to confirm that neither Dr Thaksin Shinawatra nor his advisor Pairoj Piempongsat are involved in funding Dr Sulaiman al Fahim's bid to buy the club.
"A representative for Dr Sulaiman al Fahim met with Premier League officials last week and confirmed that he is the sole purchaser of the football club and this will be verified by his lawyers.
"Pompey executive chairman Peter Storrie met Pairoj Piempongsat during his time at Manchester City some two years ago. Pairoj subsequently introduced Mr Storrie to Dr Sulaiman al Fahim and that is the extent of his involvement in the proposed takeover."
As for suggestions Richards has a role in the sale, Pompey stated: "Sir Dave Richards has had no role to play in the proposed takeover, other than providing advice in his role as chairman of the Premier League and to suggest otherwise undermines the excellent work he does in his position."
The statement concluded: "The due diligence process for the purchase of the club is continuing well and should be completed by early July."
The Premier League released a statement regarding Richards' involvement in the possible sale of Portsmouth.
It read: "The Premier League wishes to respond to speculation regarding the role of its chairman Sir Dave Richards in the prospective acquisition of Portsmouth FC.
"The previous owners of Manchester City and their associates are well known to the owners and executives of Portsmouth FC from their time in the Premier League.
"It is a previously published fact that Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim invited Sir Dave Richards to meet him before the UEFA Champions League final in Rome at the end of May.
"Pairoj Piempongsant was present but, when the topic of Portsmouth FC was raised, Sir Dave Richards asked him to leave, which he duly did.
"Since that time Sir Dave Richards has been working appropriately with members of the Premier League executive to apply the relevant rules to the prospective acquisition of Portsmouth FC, including the Fit and Proper Persons Test and shareholder disclosure, making it abundantly clear that any involvement of Thaksin Shinawatra and his associates would not be permitted."
MATHIEU AGREES VALENCIA MOVE
Valencia have confirmed the signing of Frenchman Jeremy Mathieu from Toulouse.
The left-sided 25-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the Primera Division outfit and will join Los Che on July 1.
Valencia sporting director Fernando Gomez said of Mathieu: "He's a player who has all the characteristics that we like, both the coach and myself.
"He has good presence. He's a similar size to (Valencia left-back Emiliano) Moretti but is better technically."

Nah England still too weak.. Our best chance was 2002, 2004 & 2006.. The golden age of our superstars, we should have won something then but never..
Beckem
Stevie G
Owen
Rooney
Lampard
Fat Frank
Rio
The golden age has past us by, the year 1998 and 2000 saw the birth of a new golden superstar england team.. But failed to win and most are now getting too old.
Beckem must lift the world cup, 2010 is the last chance for the golden superstar before the dark days loom again like the early and mid 90s.
Brooklyn Romeo and Cruz will all play for england when they are older
Brooklyn has the best chance though
he has some good skills

GORMAN SET FOR HOOPS MOVE
John Gorman expects to be reunited with Jim Magilton as QPR's assistant manager.
After managerial spells at Swindon, Wycombe and Northampton and time spent as Glenn Hoddle's number two at Southampton, Tottenham and England, Gorman joined Magilton at Ipswich last season.
He now seems set to follow the former Northern Ireland international to Loftus Road and will hold talks with the London club next week.
"Things are ticking at Rangers and it is nice to be back. I have not signed a contract yet, but have a meeting at the club on Monday," Gorman told the East Anglian Times. "Jim Magilton deserves to be back in management and I am delighted to be continuing my association him.
"We are looking ahead with confidence to the 2009/10 campaign and will be making a big note of the matches against Ipswich when the fixture list is published next week.
"It is a famous club that I have always rated and Loftus Road is a wonderful stadium for football."
STUTTGART KEEN ON JOVANOVIC
Stuttgart are hoping to strike a deal to sign Serbia striker Milan Jovanovic from Belgian champions Standard Liege.
Stuttgart general manager Horst Heldt admits Jovanovic is being targeted to replace Mario Gomez, who has moved to Bayern Munich.
"The fact is Jovanovic interests us a lot," Heldt told the Stuttgarter Zeitung newspaper.
The 28-year-old could cost around five million euros, leaving plenty of funds from the reported 30million euro sale of Gomez to invest in a further striker.
Hoffenheim's Demba Ba is tipped to be on his way to Stuttgart even though he has been told by his club he will not be going anywhere.
Heldt remains optimistic a solution can be found.
"All I can say is that we have a very friendly relationship with our neighbours from Hoffenheim and we place a lot of importance on this," he said.
"At the end of the day, there are a lot of people there who have a lot in common with us in that they were with VfB (Stuttgart) in the past."
Ba recently admitted he was seeking a new challenge away from Hoffenheim.

GENT: PATO WON'T ASK FOR MOVE
Alexandre Pato will not demand a move away from AC Milan, according to his agent.
The Brazil international's future has become the subject of much debate in recent weeks, with a summer switch away from the San Siro widely touted.
Former Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is now in charge at Chelsea, has been strongly linked with a move for his former starlet.
The Italian coach has made no secret of his admiration for the 19-year-old and has refused to rule out the possibility of lodging a bid.
However, with the Rossoneri having already parted company with former World Player of the Year Kaka, the club are reluctant to lose any more of their top players.
They are, therefore, determined to retain Pato's services and are prepared to snub any offers they may receive.
The forward appears to have accepted that decision after holding talks with the Milan hierarchy regarding the recent speculation.
"Pato is under contract with Milan, and the club is the one that decides his fate," Pato's agent Gilmar Veloz told Antenna3 Telelombardia.
"Publically speaking about his contract is not an issue, but it's our business."

VALENCIA: NO DEAL AGREED FOR VILLA
Valencia sporting director Fernando Gomez has denied media reports an agreement is already in place for David Villa to join Real Madrid.
Speculation in Spain has been rife over the last few days that Villa is on the verge of joining Florentino Perez's Madrid revolution, following in the footsteps of £56million signing Kaka and possibly Cristiano Ronaldo.
Reports in Spain on Saturdau even suggested Villa's switch to the Bernabeu had been finalised, but Gomez insists those are wide of the mark.
However, he did confirm talks were being held, although he gave no further details and did not say which team was involved.
"What has been published today is false," Gomez was quoted as saying on his club's website on Saturday afternoon, as Valencia confirmed the signing of midfielder Jeremy Mathieu from Toulouse.
"The negotiations are open and are being conducted personally by our president, Manuel Llorente."
FERGUSON GETS GO-AHEAD TO SPEND
Manchester United's transfer policy will not be affected by their debt mountain.
With a £650million debt to service, there were some fears that the Glazer family might use some of the £80million Real Madrid have pledged to pay for Cristiano Ronaldo against the interest at least.
However, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been assured that will not be the case, allowing the Scot to pursue the likes of Antonio Valencia and Franck Ribery without worrying too much about the cost.
"Nothing that has happened over the past four years would lead you to believe the owners are not going to continue investing in the team," said a Glazer family spokesman.
"A substantial number of world-class players have been brought to the club in the past few years and that will still be the case."
While there is a general understanding of why the question is being asked, the Glazer family point to their record of backing Ferguson in the transfer market since their controversial takeover.
They insist that policy has not changed despite the ongoing credit crunch, which is having an impact on United's corporate ticket sales.
"The idea Manchester United are motivated by a debt burden is just not true," added the spokesman.
Given confirmation that US finance giant Aon are to become new shirt sponsors in 2010, a positive spin on the past two weeks would emphasise the removal of two areas of uncertainty, allowing the club to focus on what lies ahead free from the spectre of future problems.
"Two big issues have now been removed which, in its own way, is good for everyone," the spokesman added.
In any event, according to PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor, Ferguson will have let Ronaldo leave on the basis that Wayne Rooney is the man he really cannot afford to be without.
"It is an interesting question and a difficult decision but as an Englishman, if I was asked to make a choice between the two I would have Wayne Rooney," declared Taylor.
"Wayne has not been far away from being one of the best players in the world for a long time and certainly the way he finished off the season bodes well for Manchester United and England.
"Anyone would want a player of Cristiano Ronaldo's calibre in their team but I would certainly not view his departure as a backward step for Manchester United at all."

Mowbray - compensation package agreed.
MOWBRAY SET FOR CELTIC TALKS
Tony Mowbray is set to be unveiled as Celtic's new manager next week after the club agreed to meet West Brom's compensation demands.
West Brom chairman Jeremy Peace agreed to let Mowbray begin contract negotiations with Celtic after the Glasgow giants confirmed they would pay £2million for the former Hibernian boss.
The Baggies will receive additional payment from Celtic should they also lose coaches Mark Venus and Peter Grant.
Peace told West Brom's official website: "We do not want to lose Tony because he has been an integral part of a long-term project at the club which the vast majority of our fans have bought into.
"But Tony expressed his desire to talk to Celtic and now that the compensation figure in his contract has been met to our satisfaction that process can take place.
"If Tony decides to join Celtic he would leave with our good wishes and we would then immediately put into action the task of appointing a new manager who can take the club forward."
Celtic made Mowbray their preferred candidate to succeed Gordon Strachan, who resigned following the end of the season.
Mark McGhee opted to join Aberdeen from Motherwell this week because he was informed the Hoops had made their choice, and he was out of contention to succeed his friend Strachan.
Providing there are no further hitches, and the deal goes through quickly, Mowbray will have a fortnight before pre-season starts and he faces the first of possibly two tricky Champions League qualifiers at the end of July.
Former Celtic striker Frank McGarvey believes Mowbray has to "hit the ground running" when he arrives in Glasgow.
McGarvey, who played for Celtic between 1980 and 1985, thinks that the former Hibs boss will have his work cut out in quickly assembling a side who can win back the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title from Old Firm rivals Rangers and reach the lucrative group stages of the Champions League.
"Tony wouldn't have been my first choice but I hope he does very well for Celtic and for himself," said former Scotland striker McGarvey.
"He's a good guy but it is a big gamble by the Celtic board and not just because he's just had a team relegated.
"The Champions League qualifiers are looming and most Celtic fans will agree with me when I say that the team is not good enough and needs to be strengthened.
"Tony needs to bring in at least four players; two strikers to play with Scott McDonald, a midfielder who can create and a left-back.
"The thing is, Celtic are not seeded in the Champions League qualifiers so are good players going to take a chance in coming to Parkhead?
"And are the board going to give Tony the wages to pay them if they do?
"He's got all this to do in a month after he returns for pre-season training, so he has to hit the ground running."
Celtic would only confirm that talks with Mowbray are set to begin, with chairman John Reid telling the club's official website: "We can confirm that we have reached an agreement in principle with West Bromwich Albion Football Club and have been given permission to speak to Tony Mowbray and his backroom staff.
"These are complex but important negotiations and we can assure our supporters that we continue to aim to get the right man for the job in the right way."
It is unlikely that any hitches in negotiations will arise and Mowbray should be unveiled before the Scottish media early next week.

JOSE MAKES DECO ADMISSION
Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho says he would welcome the chance to be reunited with Chelsea midfielder Deco.
The Portugal international, who has been strongly linked with a move to Inter, revealed on Thursday he wants to quit Chelsea following an indifferent first season in London.
Deco has done little to quell speculation about a proposed move to the Italian champions, hinting he would like to play under his compatriot at the Giuseppe Meazza and that Inter have already approached his employers.
The self-proclaimed 'Special One' has now intensified rumours of a move for Deco by claiming he would relish the chance to coach the ex-Barcelona star once again.
"I would be very satisfied to work with Deco again," he told Lusa. "I remember the good moments we had together, the good work we did and the victories we obtained.
"I helped Deco grow, but it was with players like him that I became the coach I am now.
"If it is possible for him to come to Inter and for us to work together again it would be something wonderful for both of us."
Following Deco out of the Stamford Bridge exit door could be centre-half Ricardo Carvalho, after he too expressed a desire to again work under Mourinho.
Like Deco, the accomplished Carvalho made his name with Mourinho at surprise 2004 UEFA Champions League winners Porto, before following his mentor to Chelsea.
And he has refused to rule out a third spell under the Inter chief: "I would love to be coached under Mourinho again.
"The majority of trophies I have won were with Mourinho. At Chelsea there is a new cycle happening so we will see what happens."
JOHNSON SET FOR POMPEY EXIT
Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie has admitted that the club have received a bid for Glen Johnson and that a deal could be concluded imminently.
The England international has enjoyed the best season of his career to date in starring for Portsmouth and in the process has established himself as Fabio Capello's first choice at right-back.
Former club Chelsea, who Johnson left to join Portsmouth, have been credited with making a bid, as have Manchester City and Liverpool, who in some reports are thought to be the front-runners for his signature.
Storrie admits he will not block the player from joining a club that will enable him to play in the UEFA Champions League next season.
He told Sky Sports News: "Glen has had a fantastic season for us and I think he is the best right-back in the country at the moment.
"I've know Glen a long while, from my West Ham days. When I re-signed him (at Portsmouth) we talked things over.
"He said, 'If one of the big four come in with Champions League football, would you stand in my way?'
"I told him I couldn't do that. Providing the deal is right for Portsmouth and Glen then we will look to try and do something in the right way.
"It is very hard to try and hold people back when they have a chance to play in the Champions League. I accept that."
When asked if an offer of between £15million and £18million had been tabled, Storrie replied: "You may not be a million miles away from the mark."
Storrie went on to concede that a deal could be struck imminently, adding: "I wouldn't think it would be too long."

NEW DONS BOSS EYES SIGNINGS
New Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee is already looking at potential signings as he starts to build a side for the start of the season.
Motherwell's out-of-contract midfielder Stephen Hughes is high on McGhee's list of targets.
But the new Dons boss admits he will face tough competition to persuade Hughes to follow him to Pittodrie.
McGhee said: "Stephen knows I would like to bring him to Aberdeen. Scott Leitch (McGhee's assistant) is meeting with Stephen in Glasgow this weekend where we will talk to him about it further.
"Apparently he has been offered a very attractive contract from Hearts so there is competition for people like Stephen Hughes."
And McGhee admits the Dons may struggle financially to offer Hughes as much as the other clubs who are chasing the signature of the former Rangers player.
"I hope the fact that I am here is a factor for Stephen," McGhee said. "But young players like Stephen Hughes, who have a young family, are entitled to try to provide for their family and therefore try to get the best deal possible.
"Working with me again won't be at the top of his list of reasons for choosing a club but if there comes a point where we are neck and neck with someone else then hopefully because it is me that will sway it."
However the new Aberdeen boss said he has no intentions of attempting to lure any more of his former playing staff from Fir Park to the Granite City.
He said: "I'm not going to go back there and start pillaging Motherwell. I have too much respect for what they are trying to do. Stephen Hughes is a different kettle of fish as he is out of contract and available.
"There are some great players at Motherwell who are going to go on and become even better. But at this moment in time they would be out of our price range."
McGhee admits he is not going to be given a huge amount of money to splash during the summer but is hopeful of bringing new faces to Pittodrie.
The former Wolves, Reading and Leicester boss also said he may have to wait until the January transfer window before he can afford to really compete in the market.
He said: "Any football manager would always want to spend more than he is given. If Real Madrid can pay £80 million for a player then there appears to be no real limit to what can be spent. But in terms of competing with the other SPL clubs the budget is a good budget.
"This is a club that can attract players. I know in recent years it has been difficult to do that but I think if the team can make it into the Europa League and maybe find a bit of money we can attract a couple of better players at Christmas."
Aberdeen's director of football Willie Miller said McGhee would be supported as he bids to bolster his new team.
Miller added: "I think we already have an exciting squad but we have to solidify that. Mark knows what he has to work with in terms of brining in new players.
"We have invested heavily in youth development in the last five years and we are beginning to see the fruits of that now. Mark is excited at working with the young talent but he also has some finance available to bring in new players as well."
NIJHOLT KEEN ON MOTHERWELL JOB
Former Motherwell defender Luc Nijholt is dreaming of a return to Fir Park as the club's new manager.
The 47-year-old Dutchman, who became popular with the 'Well fans during his time in Lanarkshire in the early 1990s, is in the frame to replace Mark McGhee who departed for Aberdeen on Friday.
Nijholt, who helped Co Adriaanse win the Austria title with Red Bull Salzburg, would relish the chance to move back to Scotland.
"I have always said that if the timing was right I would love to go back and manage Motherwell," he told the Scottish Daily Express.
"I won a Scottish Cup there and had a great time and the club will always have a very special place in my heart.
"I still look out for Well's results and have a lot of friends in Scotland so the manager's job would be a dream for me.
"I have picked up a lot of experience in Holland and working with Co Adriaanse, who is a top coach, and I definitely want to go in to management again in my own right.
"If that was at Motherwell it would be a dream come true for me, especially as the club are also in Europe next season."

MORATTI: DUO WILL NOT MOVE
Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is confident striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain at the San Siro.
Speculation has been rife that Ibrahimovic is set to move to Barcelona this summer, with Samuel Eto'o going the other way, and increased still further following a recent dinner between Moratti and Barca president Joan Laporta.
The Inter supremo admits a swap deal was mooted but insists both have decided to keep their respective forwards.
"I talked with Laporta but in the end we decided to keep our own players: them Eto'o and us Ibrahimovic," Moratti told Sky Italia.
"It was a dinner to satisfy both our curiosity for what we were reading.
"Ibra wanted to go to Barcelona and we wanted to know what interest there was on their part.
"But we both understood that each one of us liked their own player a lot, I talked well of Ibra and he of Eto'o."
He added: "I believe it would be difficult for the Swede to leave because we are 100 per cent happy with him.
"Moreover, he seems nice to me because he is cheerful and very professional.
"It's not the first time we've found ourselves in this situation. We're not going to lose any sleep, however, and I think that at the end he will stay."
Reports have linked Inter with Chelsea pair Ricardo Carvalho and Deco, both of whom played under Nerazzurri coach Jose Mourinho at Porto.
Carvalho followed Mourinho to Stamford Bridge after winning the Champions League in 2004 and Moratti admits the Chelsea defender could once again be reunited with the Portuguese coach.
He said: "Deco and Carvalho? We haven't made a decision on the first one yet, we're looking at what we can do, and we're working on the second.
"We are, in fact, on the hunt for a defender."
Deco has revealed that he is keen to join Inter after admitting he is unhappy with life at Stamford Bridge and his former coach claimed on Saturday he hopes a deal can be completed for the midfielder.
AZ WARN CHELSEA OVER DEMBELE
AZ Alkmaar have warned Chelsea that they will have to move quickly if they are to convince them to sell prize-asset Moussa Dembele.
Widespread reports have suggested the forward is high on new coach Carlo Ancelotti's wish-list, with the likes of Genoa, Juventus, Fiorentina and Sevilla also monitoring his situation with the Dutch champions.
AZ technical director Marcel Brands has stopped short of ruling out a potential sale in the summer, but has warned his club will not become embroiled in protracted negotiations.
Brands went on to reveal that Dembele's agent, Patrick Vervoort, has informed him of interest from Stamford Bridge.
"I know through his agent that Chelsea are following Moussa," said Brands in De Telegraaf.
"But Genoa registered their interest a few weeks ago.
"I will certainly not say no [to a move], but if there is nothing by 22nd June he will report for the club's first training session of pre-season."
Dembele has professed to being flattered by interest from overseas but insists he is more than happy with his current paymasters.
"I am certainly not against such a development," Dembele told Het Laatste Nieuws.
"I am indeed in a good position. I can continue at AZ, where it is excellent, or move to a foreign club."
BENZEMA SET TO STAY WITH LYON
Lyon director Bernard Lacombe is confident Karim Benzema will still be at the Stade Gerland next season.
The young striker is one of the world's hottest properties at the moment, with Inter Milan and Real Madrid among the clubs reportedly considering tabling a 40 million euro bid.
Speculation is also rife that Manchester United are ready to use some of the money earned from the impending sale of Cristiano Ronaldo to bring Benzema to Old Trafford.
However, Lacombe insists he has not received any offers for the 21-year-old.
"The fax is not overheating," he told le Dauphine Libere. "Even if you should never say never in football, there is a lot of noise about nothing at this moment.
"The idea is still to keep Karim for another season."
Benzema's agent has also confirmed the France forward is keen to remain at Lyon for another year at least before seeking a move to a bigger club.
"OL don't need liquid assets and Karim wants to stay until the 2010 World Cup," said Karim Djaziri. "On our part a departure is not on the agenda."
Benzema, who has come through the ranks at the Ligue 1 giants, scored 23 goals in all competitions this season - an average of a goal every other game.

GOLD DELIGHTED WITH DANN DEAL
Birmingham chairman David Gold has spoken of his delight at securing the signing of Coventry defender Scott Dann.
The Premier League new boys agreed an undisclosed fee with Coventry, thought to be in the region of £4million, for the highly-rated 22-year-old, who becomes Birmingham's third signing of the summer.
Dann follows Christian Benitez and Stephen Carr in committing to St Andrews and having fought off competition from a number of rival top flight clubs, Gold is confident Birmingham have signed a player of considerable potential.
"It's a very exciting signing for us, it's very important for us because we've lost a couple of our central defenders," Gold told Sky Sports News.
"Sadly, Liam Ridgewell has been injured and we probably won't see him back before close to Christmas.
"He's a very exciting player and he scores goals from defence, which is an extra. He's a record signing for our defence. We've broken the record and for us it's a substantial signing.
"He was a must-have player, we've been tracking him for a long time and we've fought off some ferocious competition from a number of serious clubs.
"It's always a great feeling when you beat off competition to win the battle, and by competition I mean clubs that will be battling with you next season.
"If you can outmanoeuvre those clubs then you've got a greater chance of survival."
Gold went on to reveal he expects to bring in a further three players and while he is not afraid of getting the chequebook out again, he admits boss Alex McLeish could bring in some free transfers to keep the club on track financially.
"I've got to say it's a delicate balance, you like to bring in some free transfer as well," he said.
"When you're spending money you need to ensure you're doing so wisely and carefully.
"Be sure that you're buying a player who is going to make a difference, young enough to hold his value so if the worst happens, you'll have a saleable commodity.
"I would think we're probably been linked with five to six players at the moment and if we can get another three I would be quite pleased with that.
"It's a very difficult situation and this is where the likes of (owner, David) Sullivan, (chief executive, Karen) Brady and of course Alex play a massive part in this football club, they are massively skilled.
"Our board has been in place for 16 years, we've been in the Premier League for six or seven seasons. We've got great experience of what works and perhaps doesn't work so well."
ROVERS SNAP UP YOUNG KEEPER
By Fotis Voinikas
Blackburn have completed the signing of young goalkeeper Nikos Giannakopoulos from Asteras Tripolis.
The Greek club will receive €60,000 (£52,000) for the deal while they will also pocket 30 per cent of any future fee the 16-year-old generates.
The shot-stopper went on trial at Rovers at the end of May and did enough to earn himself a contract at Ewood Park.
Despite his young age, Giannakopoulos seemed unfazed by his big move and insisted that he would adapt quickly to the English lifestyle.
"I know that my life will change," he said. "I feel ready to realise my dream playing for Rovers.
"I will try my best to show my quality and stay many years in England. The people of Blackburn showed me how much they trust me and they told me that I have the credentials to succeed.
"They told me that with hard work I will have the chance to play at the first team very soon.
"I know the English language so I think it's not going to be so difficult for me to adjust to the English way of life."

ROBINHO URGES TEVEZ SWOOP
Robinho has urged Manchester City to launch a bid for Argentina star Carlos Tevez.
Tevez's future is uncertain as he nears the end of a two-year loan agreement at Manchester United.
City have been linked with a bid for the bullish forward, although the Red Devils appear keen to strike fresh terms with Tevez's representatives, with Cristiano Ronaldo set for Real Madrid.
Brazilian attacker Robinho is keen to play alongside Tevez at Eastlands and is hopeful the affluent club could land his services this summer.
Robinho said in The Sun: "We would definitely complement City's attack. I hope my club make a move for him.
"It would be a pleasure to play with Carlos. He is one of the best players in the world and it is a shame he is not having more opportunities at his current club.
"If he leaves United - as I have been reading in the last few days - and if the interest of City gets confirmed, of course I will try to convince him to join us.
"I am sure we would make a fiercesome duo up front. He is so fast and combative with great technique."
He added: "If Carlos comes to City, and if the club manages to get two or three players of the same quality we can aspire to big things.
"This season was not our best, but this was also our first year together and I don't regret the option I made a year ago. In the coming season fans can definitely expect to see us in the top spots of the league."
