Downing is not over-rated and is definitely not terrible. He will do well for Aston Villa because they will make good use of him.
Bullshit, it shows how bad the England side is when he can get on the fringes of it, he's shite.
Cristiano Ronaldo believes Michael Owen will be a worthy successor to him as Manchester United's number seven.
Owen was signed after Ronaldo joined Real Madrid for £80m this summer.
"Michael Owen is an experienced player. He has played at the biggest club" said Ronaldo, who scored 117 goals in 290 appearances for United.
"He has everything to win at United. He is at a fantastic club and he is a great player. It was a good decision to give him the number seven."
Owen was signed on a free transfer by the Premier League champions after his contract with relegated Newcastle expired at the end of last season.
Aston Villa have signed England winger Stewart Downing on a four-year deal from Middlesbrough for £12m.
The 24-year-old agreed personal terms and passed a medical at Villa Park on Thursday and becomes manager Martin O'Neill's first signing of the summer.
Downing told the Villa website: "I wanted to come as soon as I met Martin so I'm delighted it's now sorted out.
"As an outsider looking in, it was obvious Villa are a club on the up. I want to be part of that."
He made 181 League appearances for his home-town club after making his debut in 2002.
Downing injured his foot, ironically against Villa, in the last game of the season. He had an operation and is likely to be out of action until October at the earliest.
His future at Boro had been the subject of much speculation since the club's relegation to the Championship in May.
He signed a new five-year deal in February 2008 but had a written transfer request rejected in January, although chairman Steve Gibson he said he would not stand in the way of a move if the club went down.

Arsenal set to bid for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar but face competition from Manchester United
Arsenal are reported to be preparing an £18 million offer to bring Dutch star Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to the Emirates as a potential replacement for Emmanuel Adebayor.
Should the Togolese player go through with a speculated move to Barcelona the Huntelaar deal would bring £12 million into Arsenal's transfer kitty.
The deal would make sense given Arsene Wenger's recent comments regarding the state of finances at Arsenal. With annual repayments on the Emirates mortgage standing at £24 million Wenger has said: "The strategy of the club is to sell every year and buy less expensive players."
Having to sell-on their expensive stars such as Adebayor in order to meet these repayments means Wenger will depend very much on the quality of the club's young players.
These plans in mind Huntelaar would fit in with Wenger's vision. He has scored 70 goals in 82 games for current club Ajax and seven times in 12 appearances for his country.
A Dutch insider told the News of the World: "Arsenal are keen on Huntelaar and he has confirmed he would be keen to discuss a move.
"Klass-Jan is an out-and-out goalscorer - just the sort Arsenal have needed for many seasons. He might not have the silky skills you associate with a Wenger team but he has an amazing knack for putting the ball in the net."
However, Arsenal best be prepared for some competition to land the 24-year-old after he claimed that Manchester United are keen to bring him to Old Trafford.
Having rejected a contract to stay with Ajax huntelaar said: "I love clubs with great history like Ajax, I also love Manchester United.
"It's a club that makes me dream, especially as Ruud van Nistelrooy played there and did great things with them.
"I know certain English clubs are following me, like Manchester United - who are very interested in me."
They need to hurry up and make an offer..

Wigan and Wolves have had bids of about £2m accepted for Hamilton midfielder James McCarthy.
Wolves were the first club to agree a fee, but with Wigan joining the race it will now be down to the player to chose a preferred destination.
Hamilton boss Billy Reid said: "It's an understatement to say that losing a player like James is a blow."
Celtic and Burnley have previously bid for the 18-year-old, who has also been scouted by Liverpool and Chelsea.
McCarthy rejected a move to Liverpool in 2007, while Chelsea were just one of a number of other clubs to have previously expressed an interest in the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international.
If McCarthy completes a move he will join his former Hamilton team-mate Brian Easton in the Premier League after the Scotland under-21 left back moved to Burnley earlier in week.
And there is a possibility that a third product of the Hamilton youth system, James McArthur, could also be on his way to England's top flight.
His agent, Willie McKay, claims a Premier League club are interested in signing the 21-year-old, although there have been no firm offers yet.
Wolves have already signed six players this summer, including former Reading striker Kevin Doyle for a club record fee of about £6.5m.
Wigan, who have signed Honduras midfielder Hendry Thomas and midfielder Jordi Gomez, are also pursuing Swansea striker Jason Scotland.

Manchester United's four-match Far East tour is in jeopardy after bomb blasts hit the Indonesian hotel they were due to stay in on Monday.
The squad arrived in Kuala Lumpur ahead of their match against a Malaysia XI but their clash with an Indonesia All Star side has been cancelled.
At least nine people were killed and 48 injured in the attacks in Jakarta.
The Premier League champions are also lined up for two friendlies in South Korea and China.
A United statement said: "Following the explosions in Jakarta - one of which was at the hotel the team were due to stay in - and based on advice received, the directors have informed the Indonesian FA that the club cannot fulfil the fixture in Jakarta on the 2009 Asia tour."
Monday's match in Jakarta had been a 100,000 sell-out with the club due to stay in the city's Ritz-Carlton.
"We are working on a revised itinerary outside Indonesia with the promoters and we will make a further announcement when these decisions have been made," the statement added.
Southampton have named former West Ham and Charlton manager Alan Pardew as their new boss.
His appointment on a three-year deal was rubber-stamped in the early hours of Friday, BBC Radio Solent can reveal.
Pardew, 47, said: "I'm proud and very excited to be joining a club with an immense history and huge potential."
New Saints owner Markus Liebherr said:"We are delighted to have been able to attract Alan to St Mary's from a very strong field of candidates."
Pardew, who has been out of football since leaving Charlton in November 2008, replaces Mark Wotte.
The Dutchman made his exit after Swiss businessman Liebherr completed his takeover of the troubled club earlier this month.
Saints came close to going bust after they were relegated from the Championship in May, and will begin their League One campaign on minus 10 points.
Celtic are waiting to find out their opponents in the Champions League third qualifying round.
The tournament's new format sees the Glasgow club go into the 'best placed path' when the draw takes place in Switzerland at 1100 BST.
Celtic are among the five seeded teams and can face either Sparta Prague, FC Twente, Dinamo Moscow, Romanian outfit FC Timisoara or Turkish side Sivasspor.
Lying in wait in the following round are the likes of Arsenal and Lyon.
Stuttgart, Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid are the other top seeds in the next stage of the best-placed path.

JT WON'T LEAVE CHELSEA - BECKS
David Beckham does not believe England captain John Terry will move from Chelsea to Manchester City.
City have been pursuing centre-back Terry all summer to add steel to their defence as part of their multi-million pound revolution.
Beckham believes Terry would get more satisfaction from staying at Stamford Bridge than he would from heading north - no matter what riches are on offer.
"Happiness is the biggest thing," Beckham said. "If you've got passion to play for the club you're at, and if you're at the club you always wanted to be at, then that goes beyond any money.
"JT's like that. He's passionate about football, not passionate about money. He'll decide what's best for his football career."
Terry, who began his professional career at Chelsea, has so far been silent on his future.
Beckham said: "It won't be about money for him. At the end of the day, he's England captain and you don't become England captain being greedy. You become it because you're passionate about the game.
"I don't think JT will move because he's Chelsea through and through. But football's football. It's a business. But I think he'll stay at Chelsea because they won't want to lose him."
Beckham was himself criticised for for joining the Los Angeles Galaxy as many speculated money was a motivating factor for his trans-Atlantic move.
Before that, the midfielder had to endure moving Manchester United to Real Madrid after a falling-out with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
"I always wanted to stay at United for my whole career but there was nothing I could have done about it," he said. "It wasn't in my hands when I left United.
"I missed it. I couldn't even bear to watch them on the TV for the first three years after leaving just because it hurt me a lot."
BARCA IN TALKS OVER IBRAHIMOVIC
Inter Milan have confirmed they are in talks with Barcelona about the sale of Zlatan Ibrahmimovic.
Inter supremo Massimo Moratti has been locked in talks with Barca over the past week about numerous subjects.
They have already agreed terms on Maxwell's move from Italy to Catalunya, whilst they are set to take Alexander Hleb from the Spanish club.
Now they are also talking about the possible transfer of Ibrahimovic, which could also see Samuel Eto'o move to the Giuseppe Meazza.
"We have closed the negotiations for Maxwell and now we are trying to end the talks over Hleb," Moratti told Sky Sport Italia.
"Obviously we have spoken about other things also, because they were interested to know something about Ibrahimovic and to talk about Eto'o, two players at the same level,
"There is the possibility to do an operation with these two players.
"What are the odds of Ibrahimovic leaving Inter? I don't like to frame things this way, I don't know right now, we'll have to wait and see what the player wants.
"In any case, if the matter should be taken all the way to completion, then Eto'o would be in the deal."
Reports in both Spain and Italy suggest the clubs are close to agreeing terms on the deal which would see Inter receive €40million plus Eto'o and Hleb on loan for a year.
LUCIO DEAL NOT DONE YET
Lucio's transfer to Inter Milan from Bayern Munich is not a done deal yet, according to the Italian club's president Massimo Moratti.
The Brazil captain is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Italian champions but Moratti refuted the claim of the Bayern Munich website that the deal had been completed.
"Lucios signing? It is not yet official," Moratti told the club's official website.
"From what I know it's not all definite."
The 31-year-old joined Bayern in the summer of 2004 from Bayer Leverkusen and is under contract with the German giants for a further year.
Moratti admitted the arrival of Lucio would bring to an end Inter's quest to acquire Chelsea stars Deco and Ricardo Carvalho.
Celtic will play Russian side Dinamo Moscow in the Champions League third qualifying round.
Nottingham Forest are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Chris Gunter for £1.75m, subject to a medical.
The 19-year-old Wales international, who had an eight-game spell on loan with the Reds last season, has agreed personal terms at the City Ground.
Gunter joined Spurs from Cardiff in January 2008, but made just five league appearances and 16 in all.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp had previously stated that he was not willing to let Gunter leave.
Barcelona and Inter Milan have started negotiations over a swap deal involving Barca striker Samuel Eto'o and Inter forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Reports suggest Barca will pay about £35m plus Eto'o, 28, for Ibrahimovic, 27, as well as sending Alex Hleb on loan for a season to the Italian club.
Inter president Massimo Moratti told his club's website that he had held talks with counterpart Joan Laporta.
"We will see if it is possible to enter both players in a deal," said Moratti.
Eto'o came close to agreeing a move to Manchester City, before the Eastlands side ended their pursuit on 10 July.
The 28-year-old Cameroon international has scored more than 100 goals in five seasons at the Nou Camp but has been regularly linked with moves away from the club and is out of contract next summer.

Everton have turned down an offer from Manchester City for Joleon Lescott.
City tabled the bid, understood to be £15m, for the 26-year-old defender as they hope to pair him with England and Chelsea captain John Terry.
But Everton backed up manager David Moyes' declaration that he will not sell his high-profile players by rejecting the offer out of hand.
And it may be down to Lescott to force the issue if he wishes to join City's other expensive summer signings.
Moyes assured shareholders at a forum at Goodison Park on Wednesday that none of his players are for sale.
He said: "I have already said there will be no players sold at Everton and I do not feel I need to say any more.
"The board have never sold a player from me, it will only be at my discretion. I said it at the end of the season and I do not need to say any more."
Moyes wont let him go
Birmingham have completed the signing of former Scotland captain Barry Ferguson from Rangers for a fee in the region of £1.2m.
The midfielder will be reunited with former Gers boss Alex McLeish, who is now in charge at St Andrews, after signing a three-year deal.
The 31-year-old was fined and stripped of the Rangers captaincy last season.
That followed a breach of discipline while on Scotland duty which also led to an end to his international career.
He was dropped by Rangers manager Walter Smith but returned for their last three games of the season as they overtook Celtic to win the Scottish Premier League and lift the Scottish Cup.
Manchester United have allowed striker Manucho to join Spanish side Real Valladolid on a five-year deal.
The Angolan international, 26, failed to establish himself at Old Trafford, making just one Premier League appearance during his 18-month stay.
Manucho was initially loaned out to Panathinaikos in Greece and spent the second half of last season at Hull.
Despite enjoying moderate success at Hull he found himself surplus to requirements at United.
Former assistant manager Carlos Queiroz first alerted United to Manucho and the forward was handed a three-year contract after a brief trial period in December 2007.
However his application for a work permit was only granted in August last year and in the interim he was farmed out to Greece.
BBC sports presenter Ray Stubbs is to leave the corporation to be the frontman of ESPN's live Premier League coverage, it has been announced.
Stubbs, who spent five years on the books at Tranmere Rovers, presented football, snooker, darts and other sports in his 25 years with the BBC.
"This was always going to be a difficult decision," he said.
"But a chance to join one of the world's top broadcasters on day one of a new channel was too good to reject."
Head of BBC TV Sport Philip Bernie said: "Ray has been a fantastic member of the BBC Sport team for many years and we wish him all the best for the future."
ESPN acquired the live rights for 46 Premier League matches next season following the collapse of Irish broadcaster Setanta.
Stubbs's first match fronting their coverage will be Everton v Arsenal at Goodison Park on 15 August.

Michael Owen marked his first appearance in a Manchester United shirt with an 84th-minute winner in a 3-2 victory over a Malaysia XI.
Owen, who came on as a second-half substitute, reacted smartly to slot home a loose ball after Zoran Tosic had been upended in the penalty area.
A predatory Wayne Rooney strike opened the scoring before Nani's composed finish doubled United's advantage.
A Mohammed Amri Yahyah brace then gave the hosts hope before Owen pounced.
Owen, who also scored on his Liverpool debut as a 17-year-old, sent a miscued volley bobbling harmlessly across the face of the goal before finding the net in trademark fashion.

-toon-fan-pete-
In a United side shorn of summer departures Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez, Rooney was the man of the match, scoring the opener, setting up the second and going close several times.
Almost 100,000 fans packed the Bukit Jalil Stadium to watch the famous visitors and the attendance will have strengthened the case for United staying in Kuala Lumpur as they rearrange their pre-season itinerary.
Friday's bomb attacks in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta caused the cancellation of the team's visit to the country for the second match of their Far East tour.
The Football Federation of Australia offered to arrange a game on Monday, but United declined the invitation. The extra travel would have meant a nine-hour flight to Sydney and then an 11-hour trip to Seoul, where United are set to play on Friday.
The options of flying the Indonesian Select side they were supposed to be playing on Monday to Kuala Lumpur or taking on the other half of the Malaysian squad are being weighed up.
The team head back to Europe straight after a game in China next Sunday.

Wigan have completed the signing of Jason Scotland from Swansea for £2m.
The transfer had been agreed last week but the striker has now received the necessary international clearance.
The 30-year-old, who has been given a two-year deal, told Wigan's website: "It's great to get to play in the Premier League. It's a big step up.
"Hopefully I can take it in my stride and do well. Just thinking about lining up against some of the best players in the world makes me smile."
Scotland will be reunited with former Swansea manager Roberto Martinez at the JJB Stadium, the Spaniard having taking the vacant Wigan post following Steve Bruce's departure to Sunderland.
During two successful seasons at Swansea, Scotland scored 53 goals from 91 starts and was part of Martinez's squad that secured promotion to the Championship in 2008. Burnley had an estimated £1.25m bid rejected for Scotland but Wigan were always favourites to sign the Trinidad and Tobago international once Martinez expressed an interest.
"Me and the gaffer were together at Swansea City for two seasons and it's exciting to be able to team up again here," added Scotland.

Arsenal, 13:48, July 18, 2009
Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has arrived in Manchester to tie up the loose ends of his proposed move to Manchester City.
The 25-year-old will cost City around £25million where he will join Carlos Tevez, Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz in a new look City frontline.
The Togo international had stalled over a move to City but it now seems as if he is set to seal a move to Eastlands where he will earn a reported £150,000 a week.
Adebayor is expected to join Mark Hughes' side in the next few days as City continue a big spending summer.

Real Madrid insist there's been no offers from Arsenal or Tottenham for striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
"Only one formal offer exists and that is Stuttgart's," stated Real GM Jorge Valdano to the Spanish media.
Meanwhile, Stuttgart coach Markus Babbel says he is happy to wait for Huntelaar to make a decision regarding a move to the Bundesliga.
Babbel said: "The important thing is that I know that we are working on a transfer, and not only that of Huntelaar, but also alternatives.

I just wanted to provide a quick update on some transfer news that makes slightly less headlines than Ade’s imminent exit.
Firstly there is the news that Veljko Batrovic has been offered a trial at Arsenal. At the age of 15, this diminutive forward has already drawn comparisons to Lionel Messi for his style of play. Having become the youngest ever captain of Bubamara’s youth side Batrovic has attracted interest from all over Europe leading to Steve Rowley to personally scout the player in March. Nothing has been finalised yet, but Arsenal have consistently shown their ambition in adding to the quality of their academy, often outbidding their rivals so a deal could be concluded soon.
The academy looks certain to have its striking options bolstered amid reports that Fluminese striker Wellington will complete a move to Arsenal this summer. Recently elevated to the Fluminese first team, this pacey forward is highly regarded. The youngster impressed on a 7-day trial with the club over Christmas, scoring 4 in 45 minutes in a game against Norwich U-16’s. Following Wellington’s arrival in London for talks it is now thought that a deal is imminent.
Another young forward to be linked with a move to Arsenal recently is Frank Nouble. Ivorian born Nouble has been called up by England U-17’s and has just turned down professional terms at Chelsea after admitting that his opportunities to break into the first team will be hampered by the depth of their squad. Comfortable on the left wing as well as more advanced roles, Nouble could be a powerful addition to the club.
One player who has signed for Arsenal is 15-year-old Jamie Edge. The youngster plays in central roles of either midfield or defence and has joined from Cheltenham after a trial at Manchester United saw him opt to join Arsenal. Edge joins goalkeeper Sean Mcdermott and centre back Martin Angha-Lötscher in signing this summer. A number of players have already left the club in search for pastures new. These include Rui Fonte, Amaury Bischoff and Vincent Van Den Berg.

Roma are ready to cash in on Alberto Aquilani by selling him to Premier League side Liverpool, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.
Despite the denials coming from Trigoria over the last few days, today's report is convinced the Italian club will sell their man to the Reds. In the event that Real Madrid push through a move for Xabi Alonso, the English side would need to fill the void. In addition, it is suggested the Giallorossi need to balance their books and require around €30 million in order to do so.
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti has already revealed the club would consider a big offer for Aquilani if it arrived. Giallorossi directors Bruno Conti and Daniele Prade, as well as agent Franco Zavaglia, have denied the player will be sold, but the feeling around Trigoria is that the club are ready to trade for the right money.
It is said the move depends on Alonso. If the Spaniard moves from Anfield, Liverpool are expected to strengthen their relationship with the Lupi in order to land 'Il Principino'.

Barnet 2 v 2Arsenal
Yakubu 45 Arshavin 43,
Charles 83 Barazite 51
Tomas Rosicky pulled on an Arsenal shirt for the first time in 18 months as his team kicked off their pre-season schedule with a draw at Barnet.
The Czech international hobbled off during an FA Cup tie against Newcastle on January 26, 2008 and has overcome plenty of obstacles on his long road back to fitness. The 45 minutes he got under his belt at Underhill was the best news of the day.
The result wasn’t so great - although it hardly matters at this time of the year.
Sanchez Watt set up Andrey Arshavin for the opening goal three minutes before the break but Ismail Yakubu headed an equaliser on the stroke of half-time. Nacer Barazite, one of 10 half-time substitutes, restored Arsenal’s lead in spectacular fashion but Elliott Charles struck with eight minutes left to earn Barnet a creditable draw.
Rosicky’s return was the big news before kick-off but he was not the only mouth-watering name in the Arsenal line-up. New signing Thomas Vermaelen made his debut, William Gallas returned from his own lengthy lay-off and Arshavin also started.
There was plenty for a packed Underhill to savour in the July sunshine.
This trip to Barnet has been a staple of Arsenal’s pre-season diet for the past decade and it gives Wenger’s side the opportunity to shake off some summer cobwebs before the hard work starts at their training camp in Austria.
Arsenal, sporting their new blue away kit, started briskly. Arshavin dragged a shot past the near post inside 90 seconds and then forced Will Viner into a save from the acutest of angles. Watt tried to snaffle the rebound but his effort was blocked.
Rosicky, captain for the day, was heavily involved in the opening exchanges and, needless to say, his first touch was greeted with a huge roar. Most of the 5,099 crowd craved a goal from the Czech and were almost sated when Arshavin slipped Rosicky in with a deft pass inside the box. Viner rushed out to smother.
The Barnet keeper was by far the busier.
After eight minutes Rosicky found Wilshere on the left and the 17-year-old whipped a ball across to Watt. His first touch took him inside his marker but Viner pushed away the striker’s fierce effort.
After a frenetic first 15 minutes, the pace eased off – hardly surprising given the time of year.
Barnet, full of endeavour, started to compete. Yannick Bolasie, quick and tricky, was their most fruitful outlet.
Paul Furlong, 40, was his very senior partner up front but the former Chelsea striker gave Vermaelen a good battle. The Dutchman won’t meet a more experienced opponent this season and he stood up well to his first test in English football. Strong in the air, composed on the ball – Vermaelen looks the part.
The chances dried up as the tempo dropped but, having regained their breath, Arsenal stepped up a gear towards the end of the half.
Watt emerged from two sliding challenges to release Wilshere on the left six minutes before the break. He cut inside and waited for support before finding Arshavin. The Russian teed up Rosicky but his left-foot strike flew wide.
Three minutes later, Arsenal were ahead.
This time Watt raced down the left and he cleverly delayed his cross before putting the ball on a plate for Arshavin at the far post. The Russian finished high into the net from close range.
You might not have fancied Barnet to bounce back from that but they conjured up an equaliser with the last touch of the half. Danny Hart whipped in an inviting free-kick from the left and centre-back Yakubu climbed highest to power a header beyond Manuel Almunia.
As expected it was all-change at half-time – with the exception of Vermaelen.
He stayed on for the second half and was joined by 10 new players: Craig Eastmond, Luke Ayling, Jay Simpson, Barazite, Thomas Cruise, Gilles Sunu, Francis Coquelin, Conor Henderson and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. Early evidence that Wenger is already building a team around his new signing!
It took just four minutes for Arsenal to regain the lead and they did it in some style.
Barazite, back from a season-long loan at Derby, was forced away from the penalty area by a crowded Barnet defence but found space to arrow a shot into the top corner from 20 yards. Remarkably it was the third year in succession that Barazite has scored in this fixture.
Emmanuel-Thomas clipped a free-kick just over as the young Gunners asserted themselves but, once again, a frantic opening spell was followed by a more mundane passage of play.
Hart raised the temperature with a thumping shot from 25 yards which stung Mannone’s hands and Arsenal responded in kind as Emmanuel-Thomas played in Simpson, but .his goal-bound effort was blocked.
Arsenal looked in control but they were pegged back again with eight minutes left when Charles popped up inside the box to find Mannone’s bottom corner.
Emmanuel-Thomas squandered a chance for an instant riposte when he slid the ball just wide after breaking clear of the Barnet back line so Arsenal had to settle for a draw.
MANCHESTER CITY are ready to offer Nedum Onuoha as bait in their relentless pursuit of Joleon Lescott.
The Eastlands club made their first official approach for Lescott yesterday afternoon when contacting high-ranking Goodison officials with a £15m bid.
That, not surprisingly, was instantly dismissed but, fuelled by the billions of Abu Dhabi United group, it is only a matter of time before they return with an improved player-plus-cash bid.
Onuoha is one man whom Mark Hughes would be prepared to include in the deal and the 22-year-old has long been held in high regard on the Blue side of Manchester.
He was given a Premier League debut by Kevin Keegan in 2004 and has gone on to make 100 appearance; Onuoha has also been capped 21 times by England’s Under-21 side.
Everton, though, have continued to stress that their best players are not for sale and Lescott – who could play 45 minutes in this afternoon’s friendly against Rochdale at Spotland – certainly falls into that category. They are determined to make a stand against City and are not going to be bullied into parting with one of their prized assets just because a big cheque is being waved under their nose.
David Moyes is adamant that nobody will be leaving Goodison Park this summer who he does not want to leave – nor would he leave himself without cover in the centre of defence.

Manchester City have added to their collection of strikers by signing Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor on a five-year deal for a fee of around £25m.
The 25-year-old joins fellow new signings Roque Santa Cruz and Carlos Tevez at Eastlands.
And with Robinho, Craig Bellamy, Valeri Bojinov and Benjani also on their books, City have an embarrassment of riches up front.
"I can't wait to play for City's fans and show them what I can do," he said.
"I was born to play football and that is what I want to do. I have come here to make history for this club and those supporters.
"It what the chairman and the manager told me that they want too and I can't wait to get started."

Barry Ferguson admits it was upsetting to leave Rangers but thinks it was best for him and his beloved club that he signed for Birmingham City.
The midfielder, 31, has spent most of his career at Ibrox but has moved for £1.2m after falling out of favour following misbehaviour last term.
"It's a bit of a sad day for me really," he told Rangers' website.
"I have left Rangers with no hard feelings. It's the best thing for both the club and myself."
Ferguson was fined and stripped of the Rangers captaincy by manager Walter Smith last season after a breach of discipline while on Scotland duty.
It also led to national manager George Burley ending his former captain's international career.

Arsenal's Arsene Wenger targets Obafemi Martins - Report
The Gunners boss is preparing for life after Adebayor...
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is targeting another African star in the shape of Obafemi Martins, after Emmanuel Adebayor departed for Manchester City, according to The People.
The Togolese forward left to join the revolution at City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday in a deal thought to be worth around £25 million.
It is now thought that the money raised by the Adebayor sale will be used to fund other Arsenal signings.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Martins for the last year, and it was reported that Wenger had made bids for the Nigerian.
However, no such move has yet taken place, but the rumours still circulate.
The latest speculation to hit the headlines is that the Gunners are willing to pay a cut price £7 million for the Nigeria international.
The Magpies were relegated on the final day of last season, and this has led to much speculation about the futures of their top players.
Martins moving would allow a massive deduction from the wage bill at St. James' Park, and the club are reportedly eager to sell him to the Gunners.
However, Wenger has stated that the club have ample resources to cover for Adebayor, and he will not rush into any transfer this summer.
**** sake.
Thats Ridiculous why the hell do they want him?? -.-

Oh. well that sucks  They don't need him, will be an easy team, and it doesn't matter even if they lose.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits that at one stage during Tomas Rosicky's rehabilitation he feared the midfielder's career was over.
The 28-year-old Czech made his first appearance in 18 months on Saturday after hamstring and knee injuries.
"There was a time when I was worried Tomas wouldn't play football again and he felt the same," said Wenger.
"You have to ask and hope if he will ever get back to where we want him to be and the answer looks like yes."
Rosicky, whose last appearance came in an FA Cup tie against Newcastle in January 2008, made his comeback by playing the first 45 minutes of the Gunners' pre-season game against Barnet.
But, with Emmanuel Adebayor having moved to Manchester City, Wenger is confident the Czech international will still be the same player and hopes he could be available for the Premier League opener against Everton on 15 August.

David Beckham was involved in a confrontation with Los Angeles fans during his first home game since returning from a spell at AC Milan.
The 34-year-old England midfielder missed the first half of the Major League Soccer season after extending his loan deal with the Italian side.
The Galaxy were playing Milan in a friendly and Beckham was jeered by sections of the sell-out crowd.
"The majority of fans have been great," Beckham insisted afterwards.
"It was only one or two that, you know, it was to be expected.
"Sometimes it goes beyond it. I tried to shake one of the guy's hands but he didn't want any of it. That's the way it is."
La galaxy fans are pathetic
Becks helped set up 2 goals
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane believes Cristiano Ronaldo was "cheap" at £80m.
Real Madrid paid United a world record fee to sign the Portugal winger but Keane said the money involved to take the 24-year-old to Spain is justified.
"I'm OK with it," stated the Ipswich Town manager. "It's just the way it is.
"Clubs are prepared to pay that, people talk about Ronaldo going for £80m - I look at other players and think Ronaldo's cheap for £80m."
Keane, whose Ipswich side are in Ireland on a pre-season tour, added: "He's the best player in the world. Footballers are classed as entertainers and if you look at any industry the top people get the top money."
Villarreal began their preparations for the new season in style with a 27-0 friendly win over minnows Navata.
Having lost manager Manuel Pellegrini to Real Madrid this summer, the Spanish side could not have asked for a better warm-up to the campaign.
New coach Ernesto Valverde played a different 11 in each half.
Striker Jonathan Pereira notched up seven goals in the encounter, while fellow forwards Joseba Llorente and Ruben Marcos each scored four goals.
606: DEBATE
Do pre-season results really matter?
Former Arsenal winger Robert Pires was also on target with a brace.
Villarreal finished fifth in La Liga last season, narrowly missing out on a place in the Champions League on the final day.

Arsenal Manager Wenger To Make Offer For Real Madrid's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - Report
Rumours persist that the Gunners boss will replace Adebayor with the Dutch international striker...
20 Jul 2009 11:47:18
Arsenal are set to bid for Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as the seek reinforcements in the front line following Emmanuel Adebayor's departure to Manchester City, according to the Metro.
Real Madrid will be looking to recoup the £20 million they paid for the Dutch international in January and Huntelaar is believed to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
Stuttgart are also closely monitoring the player as there seems little room for Huntelaar among the Galacticos in the Spanish capital, and Arsenal will have to act fast to seal the deal.
So far, the Gunners have added just centre-half Thomas Vermaelen during the transfer window and the fans are desperate for more signings after four years without a trophy.
KLASS - JAN HUNTELAAR!!!
We sign him, we will have the best striking force we have had since Henry left..

Shamrock v Real madrid tonight
:laugh3:
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez refused to be drawn on the future of Xabi Alonso when asked if the midfielder would be leaving the club.
Alonso is a target for Real Madrid and reports in the Spanish media suggest the 27-year-old would consider a move.
However, with Liverpool in Thailand on a pre-season tour, Benitez would only confirm that Alonso is part of his plans in the Far East.
"Xabi Alonso is here with us so he will be available," said Benitez.
"One thing that you need to understand is the Spanish press.
"The future of Xabi Alonso is to enjoy here with the people of Thailand and the weather and the game. The next week he will be here."
