Valencia 2 - 0 Arsenal

Not sure what squad either team put out..

Miguel and David Villa Scored though.

My drunk dad given up hope already.

Been at reading drinking since before i was awake...
told me earlier we cant base our friendly performance on how good we have done.

Yet one loss and we can base that on how our season will happen..

Can't argue with a drunk, they sound like liverpool fans then.

Fulham will start going downhill after christmas, they don't have the biggest squad and they'll have to play at least an extra 15 games this season because of the new layout of the Uefa Cup, so can't see them doing quite aswell (unless they don't get far in Europe).

If they get knocked out of europe early im sure they can finish 7th - 10th.

I think if they stay in it quite a while i think they will finish like 9th - 14th,

Can't see them struggling relegation, they are a good side, tired or not...

so they should go all out for it in Europe, cos they arent really playing for anything in the PL. the best they will get in the PL is 10th/11th but probably nearer 14th/15th

Lost 2 - 0 to valencia.

They played their full side including David Silva and David Villa.

We played.

Eboue instead of sagna.
Djourou instead of silvestre or vermalean.
Diaby played, not our best and first game back for injury..
and we didnt play eduardo and played bendter instead.

So we were without

Sagna
Vermalean
Rosicky
Nasri
Eduardo

Still, no excuse, we should be able to beat a team like valencia.

Liverpool also lost. 2 - 1

To their defence, carragher was off the pitch when the first goal was scored.
But they fielded a pretty much first team.

Everton boss Moyes confirms offer for Arsenal's Senderos
08.08.09 | tribalfootball.com

Everton have made an offer for Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos.

After last night's friendly victory over Malaga, Everton boss David Moyes confirmed a bid for Senderos is still being considered by the Londoners.

However, he added that a deal could be close.

^^ Skrtel and Agger out injured aswell, Carragher off for the 2 goals, so we had 2 youngsters as our centre backs. We did actually play better than them, just they made the most of their chances and we wasted ours.

Torres also strained his ankle or something, should find out if it's serious or no tomorrow- along with Carragher.

Arsene Wenger has cooled on the recruitment of Patrick Vieira, which was being seriously considered last week. Instead, he will urge Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas to step up as the leaders in the dressing room and in big games rather than turn to the 33-year-old former captain.

But Arsenal can expect to sign Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh, even if the deal runs right to transfer deadline day, as with Andrey Arshavin. Arsenal have bid £8million
and, while Bordeaux want £15m, they know that, with just one year left on Chamakh’s contract and the striker determined to move to Arsenal, the price is falling.

Arsenal will also look at add a centre-half to replace Kolo Toure but Fulham supporters can rest easy: Brede Hangeland is not on their list

Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1205279/Wenger-reneges-Vieira-Arsenal-look-close-Chamakh-deal.html?ITO=1490#ixzz0Ne89VQQx

I was expecting us to not sign Viera...

But Hangeland?? Who will we sign since he said we will get a replacement for toure..

Hangeland is good..

Oh my - we were fecking woeful tonight. I hope that's not a sign of things to come. The same rubbish we saw last season i.e failing to clear balls in the area and inept defending at set pieces reared its ugly head again tonight. We also saw our inablity to create chances when the opposition harries and pressures us taking us out of our passing game.

We have no plan B unfortunately, and I fear a lot of teams have found us out now. I'm glad we lost - maybe Wenger will now sign some ****ing players because we can't go into the new season with virtually the same squad minus Adebayor and Toure. Not to mention that Nasri and Rosicky are both sidelined. *sigh*

Dark times lie ahead for Arsenal unless they buy a good striker before the start of the season. Van Persie just isn't consistent enough, Eduardo is always getting injured, Bendtner is a waste of space, Vela isn't good enough for the premiership yet, and Arshavin is played as a midfielder for them.

They'll be a distant fourth at best, will be surprised if they can finish above City, Tevez will be scoring at least 10 in the league, same for Santa Cruz, and Adebayor will be 15+, and they'll have plenty of goals coming from Robinho and Stephen Ireland. And if Everton can keep Jo, Saha and Yakubu fit then they'll be up there challenging too.

Former Everton winger Ronny Goodlass believes Blues boss David Moyes can improve Phillippe Senderos as a defender if the Swiss joins the club.

Everton are in talks with Arsenal about bringing the 24-year-old Switzerland international to Goodison Park.

"Senderos wants to be in the Swiss team and there is a World Cup next year," Goodlass told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"David Moyes can hopefully improve his career like he has done with Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott."

Goddlass feels a move to Merseyside for Senderos would suit both the club and the player.

"I think when you're at that stage in your career and at that age - you need regular football," continued Goodlass.

Heard about that the other day

Russian club Zenit St Petersburg have sacked coach Dick Advocaat following a run of disappointing results.

Zenit suggested that the 61-year-old's decision to become Belgium coach at the end of the season may have contributed to the side's recent poor run of form.

"The club's leadership and board of directors have decided to dismiss Dick Advocaat," read a statement.

Advocaat took over in 2006 and led Zenit to Uefa Cup glory in 2008 with a 2-0 win over his former club Rangers.

The Zenit statement continued: "Dick Advocaat has done a lot for the team and his name will forever be associated with the success Zenit has achieved over the past few seasons.

"Under his leadership, many new glorious pages in Zenit's history have been written and fans will never forget the title-winning season of 2007 and the team's magnificent performance in Europe in 2008.

Portsmouth boss Paul Hart has confirmed that Brian Kidd will not return to the club as his assistant manager after rejecting a new contract.

Kidd joined the Premier League outfit in February on a temporary deal, which ran until the end of last season.

The former England number two played a key role as Pompey avoided relegation.

Hart told BBC Radio Solent: "He did a great job for me after turning down a number of other jobs but he's a family man and Manchester is a long way."

When asked if he has identified a replacement for Kidd, Hart said: "We'll have to wait and see."

Kidd started his managerial career at Preston before moving to Manchester United as youth team coach under Sir Alex Ferguson.

In 1991 he became Ferguson's assistant at Old Trafford, helping the club win four Premier League titles and two FA Cups, before a brief spell in charge of Blackburn Rovers.

Kidd later spent over a year as an assistant to Sven-Goran Eriksson when the Swede was in charge of the England team and also worked under Neil Warnock and Bryan Robson at Sheffield United.

Kidd had surgery for prostate cancer in 2004 but returned to coaching following treatment in 2006.

Captain Craig Bellamy is out of Wales' friendly in Montenegro on Wednesday due to an ongoing knee injury problem.

Wales were initially unaware of why Bellamy was not at Cardiff Airport for Monday morning's flight to Podgorica.

"But a misunderstanding on the process meant this was regrettably not done until today."

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has described the latest round of international matches as "ridiculous".

Pulis has long been a critic of the international fixture schedule, and has urged other managers to speak out too.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "Before the season starts, they take the players away for a week. It's ridiculous.

"It's no good Tony Pulis saying it, who's Tony Pulis at Stoke City? The big boys are going to have to start doing something about it."

He added: "I've got no problem with players playing in competitive matches.

"But if they want friendly matches, let them pay their wages and cover their insurance costs, and then let's see how many friendly matches are played then."

In addition there are five World Cup qualifiers taking place on Wednesday meaning Pulis will be deprived of several players in the lead-up to the Potters' first game of the Premier League season, against Burnley at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

Defender Gary Cahill has signed a new three-year contract with Bolton that is set to keep him at the club until 2012.

The 23-year-old joined the Trotters from Aston Villa for £5m in 2008 and was called up by England in June after impressive performances last season.

"Gary is the best young centre-half in the country by an absolute mile," said Bolton manager Gary Megson.

"He's had another great season - it's only a matter of time before he plays for England on a regular basis."

The Sheffield-born player signed for Villa's academy at the age of 15.

Andy Gray commenting on the top 4..

Saying he wouldnt count any team out this year, but Chelsea if their manager settles in well could be a major threat, just depends who he plays aswell.

Man Utd will miss the presence of Ronaldo and tevez but will still be great, not sure about the midfield due to older players.. giggs scholes etc but have such depth that they will always be competing

Liverpool first time he hasn't counted them out this season to win it, but thinks if torres or gerrard pick up injuries, they will struggle a lot with not many good replacements.

Arsenal will play the great football they always do but still unsure about their defending.. their going for ward is one of the bets if not the best in the country they just need to convert chances to goals, losing toure wont be too much of a problem with New signing vermaelen and if he was a fan he would be very optimistic about this season as it could be the best for years..

Liverpool Tracking Japanese International Keisuke Honda

Honda is highly-rated in Holland, winning the MVP award in Eerste Divisie last season, and starting life in the Eredivisie with three goals in two games.

"A number of top clubs are interested in Honda. Some of them are participating in the Champions League this year." Berden told Algemeen Dagblad.

Liverpool scouts have been watching the free-scoring midfielder for some time, and Honda has admitted in the past that a move to the Premier League would interest him.

"Playing in a league as prestigious as the Premiership would be a dream," Honda stated previously.

"I would seriously consider any offers that come my way."

He plays in midfield but can also play at left back, which is where I'm guessing Benitez would play him, so if we get him then Dossena will definitely be leaving. Pretty good goalscoring record too.

Other rumours:

Tottenham re apparently in the hunt for Bayern Munich's likely-leaving striker, Luca Toni. West Ham are also thought to be interested

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out a possible move for Aston Villa winger Ashley Young, despite weekend reports having suggested that an offer was on the table.

Ex-Newcastle United forward Mark Viduka's proposed move to Portsmouth appears to be hanging in the balance as financial problems again come into play at Fratton Park.

Everton are reportedly set to unleash a €17m bid for the Paris St Germain midfielder, Stephane Sessegnon...

Hull City value Michael Turner at a lofty £11m, meaning Liverpool will have to search elsewhere for more modestly priced defensive targets...

Hull are also said to be close to agreeing a deal for Henri Camara...

pretty quiet day.

Captain Craig Bellamy is out of Wales' friendly in Montenegro on Wednesday due to an ongoing knee injury problem.

Wales were initially unaware of why Bellamy was not at Cardiff Airport for Monday morning's flight to Podgorica.

Bellamy's club Manchester City said in a statement: "Craig's situation should have been communicated to the Football Association of Wales over the weekend.

"But a misunderstanding on the process meant this was regrettably not done until today."

The statement added: "Craig Bellamy is continuing his fitness and rehabilitation work following a knee injury.

"He suffered a reaction following Saturday's game against Celtic and is therefore unavailable to represent Wales in this week's friendly against Montenegro."
Finding a way out of playing internationally again then

Chels our avatar is amazing.

And Everton to make a 17m bid?

I very much doubt it unless there is a direct quote from the club.. or moyes.. then its just paper talk..

As they dont have 17m... unless they were to sell lescott.

Arsenal will get 1 goal at least,

And Jo may not play due to injury?

Novo

Everton have been after him for a while now

Along with Chelsea Arsenal Liverpool tottenham and Aston villa

The ink on the contract extension newly signed by Stephane Sessegnon bonding him to Paris Saint-Germain until 2013 may barely be dry, however, that will not stop Everton making a move for the dynamic midfielder before the close of the transfer window, according to L’Equipe.

According to the Parisian-based daily sports paper, the Merseyside outfit are preparing a €17 million for the pocket-rocket, who can line-up anywhere in an attacking midfield area.

I agree with Chels people are jealous.

And You really think your gunna sign him? and by this weekend...

He would need to train with you a couple of games before he played a premiership match especially to someone like Arsenal..

And Arshavin > That guy..

And lastly.. I dont believe you will. If moyes says tomorrow he will be making a 17m euro bid for him thne okay but right now i think its rubbish.

Baines will be able to handle walcott

Lescott will handle RVP and Eduardo

Yobo will keep an eye out for Arshavin

The midfield will run rings round fabregas and Saha and Jo will score the goals needed
