Sorry but it was time for DTC to go
Tbh, I think it's because he was going that it was bad. He probably burned out and didn't really care much by the last six months.
You can tell by the Kathy story (I'm surprised he didn't mention it as a regret in that DS interview) he started it off great with the reveal and was extremely enthusiastic about what they were going to do and then suddenly...... nothing happened and we got that silliness at the mansion.

Another exciting storyline on the way
EastEnders bosses will be writing Adam Woodyatt's impressive weight loss into Ian Beale's storyline as he joins a slimming club next week.
Adam – who plays Ian – left viewers amazed when he showed off a much slimmer look during an appearance on The One Show last month, as he prepared to take part in the London Marathon.
With Ian trying (and often failing) to stick to a healthier lifestyle, viewers may have been wondering how Adam's new look will be written into his scripts.
And sure enough, it looks like it will as Ian takes even more steps to lose weight by joining a slimming club in upcoming scenes.

Speaking at a press event for Redwater, Shane said: "In 2002, it took a year before Kat and Alfie kissed. That doesn't happen now in soap. The appetite has become very voracious – it's more like fast food.
"But back then, 14/15 years ago, we did that whole will-they-won't-they thing. The audience waited 14 months for Kat and Alfie to get together and millions of people kept tuning in. It was such a slow burn.
"Now, I think whether it's reality or game shows, the audience's attention span gets smaller so they want things fast."

Yay for new characters but... they look like a REALLY BAD Little Britain sketch.
And the woman who played Star's mum is really hammy so I don't hold out much hope of them being much more than obscene and outdated caricatures.
Millers or Slaters they are most certainly not.

I really like the idea behind this storyline as it's not really something the show has done before and I don't feel like you can predict what happens.
I just hope more attention is paid to it in the future as so far it's amounted to too many scenes of Jake Wood staring, bored, at something.
I'm kind of hoping it leads to a surprise appearance from Janine, even if a guest stint. She's a character with money now and I feel would want to be involved in something taking down Walford.

Stubborn or not, nobody like Denise would wait this long after purposely leaving employment.
Also, she was once a single mother of two young daughters who escaped an abusive partner and we're supposed to believe she's never had help from the welfare system?

5 weeks? It's been over two months since she quit her job knowing she had no savings to live off. It's plain stupidity that is both out of character and insulting to the viewers.
She was sanctioned because she purposely left employment because of the terribly out of character writing.
Patrick's paying for all the bills and mortgage on his state pension?
Ok. So she's fine with him doing that but not paying for a weekly shop?

Then you believed wrong. That, along with the house next door was the B&B, which they had to have turned back into two house when the B&B wasn't doing well. Whilst she was abroad with Vincent Kim then sold both houses (how she owned the business I have no idea). But I do know Denise had to either pay rent or a mortgage for the house she and Patrick share.
But then Patrick is supposed to own the Minute Mart so it's futile trying to apply any logic to this silly storyline.

EASTENDERS boss Sean O’Connor has promised that there will be an influx of “old returning faces” to Albert Square this summer.
The soap boss, who took over from Dominic Tredwell-Collins last year, has teased fans with the promise of some explosive scenes between now and Christmas – but will they be enough to win back viewers fed-up with the current plotlines?
He told Metro: “There are some new faces – and old returning ones – that will take us over a fantastic summer which takes us into a very, very dramatic autumn.
“By Christmas it’ll all be in place!
“It’s a really exciting time to be in Walford at the moment.

She is a great classical actress – the more that you give her, the better she is.
... so every storyline we think up, we give it to her.
Women in the soap generally
As both Tony Warren (who created Coronation Street) and Tony Holland and Julia Smith made clear, much of the time, soaps are driven by the female characters. It’s interesting that in some iterations of soap, it’s all about gangsters, deals and suitcases full of cash. But that’s not how I think they work best; they are matriarchal cultures. The female characters tend to have the broadest range in terms of story potential- they can convincingly talk about business, anxiety, sex, family, emotions and relationships. Of course the men are equally important. But it’s Phil, Jack, Max and Mick’s lack of ability to fully express how they feel that makes them such rich characters and often gets them into trouble both in their lives and with their wives. But if you go back through the defining soap characters across the genre over the years – Sheila Grant, Pat Butcher, Peggy Mitchell, Elsie Tanner, Angie Watts, Kat Slater – the characters who are the driving force of many of the great soap stories are women- from Angie and Den’s divorce papers, to Sharongate, from Peggy/Frank/Pat to ‘You ain’t my muvva!’
... so I thought I'd kill two of the most successful modern female pairings in the show now that all of these female legends have all gone too.

I've missed chatting about EE on here! I'll just give some thoughts over recent storylines
Michelle is growing on me - shows she was given some really poor material and think she did the best she could with it. Was really cheering her on for her job at the department store! Hope she's given some good storylines soon.
Think the benefits thing with Denise is great - really tackling some taboos. A very proud woman who doesn't want "handouts"- it's a shame that some people who really need help feel they shouldn't ask all because of the stigmas that exist.
Carmell bloody more annoying than ever before - they've made her so unlikable. What woman interferes in her own son's life so much has she got nothing better to do. Maybe she needs some rough and tumble with Max to sort for herself out.
What on earth is happening at the vic i'll never know. That family has been a mess since Linda left. Honestly have no idea at all the ridiculous storylines they've had. All that drama and still johnny has had no storyline. Don't like that nob from Blue either.
Really enjoying the curvaceous lauren stepping to the front again. My favourite storyline at the moment is this one. We all know steven has a dark side - gonna be good to see that explored again.
Ron.
Max is like a classical character from a Jacobean revenge tragedy

And Shona McGarty as Whitney is absolutely incredible. She’s a wonderfully gifted actress – she can do pain like nobody’s business but she has such warmth and humour too. Wherever she is in a scene – if she is collecting glasses, or breaking her heart- the camera just loves her. She has some huge episodes to come- including a showdown with Mick and Linda in the pipeline which will be a Carter three hander where all of the emotions of the past few months will come crashing into the heart of the Square. It’s going to be fantastic.
So Mickney affair will happen....
Axing Ronnie and Roxy certainly divided opinion…
When Ronnie and Roxy burst onto the Square all those years ago, they were amazing. A real breath of fresh air – and great soap characters. But as they were so popular they were given a huge amount of plot. By the time I arrived, the characters were exhausted. Ronnie became essentially a tragic character. Can you really see Ronnie popping in to the Minute Mart for a pint of milk after sobbing her heart out after the death of yet another child? But we can with a character like Stacey, who as a character, has had time to rest between her big dramatic stories. I felt it was fairer to Sam and Rita to say ‘you have been extraordinary for the show- EastEnders legends- so we’re going to make your exit a great one to remember.’ There was no way that the Mitchell sisters would leave in the back of a taxi!
And it is hard to say goodbye to great characters and also to wonderful actors. We genuinely do think really hard about who is going, who is staying, who is dying and who isn’t. Because you’re not just dealing with the characters your audience loves but you’re dealing with actors’ lives as well. And we work with them every day, long hours – over many years; they’re friends. But sometimes you have to make really tough decisions for the show because EastEnders is bigger than all of us.
Ultimately, when we are attempting to refresh the show, everything we’re trying to do is to ensure the show’s future and stability – building up the core clans, making sure we have the right characters to tell new, challenging and entertaining stories. And it takes a long time to get there. Soap opera has a unique ecology – it’s not like any other TV format because we have to renew the show whilst it’s still broadcasting. It’s not like dramas such as Line of Duty or Broadchurch where you can recharge the show’s batteries between series.
Tragic excuse
One of our new family members is played by Lorraine Stanley, who was in the show not long ago as Star’s mum. There was something about her that we really, really liked. She just fitted the show, but we felt it was the wrong character for her. But Julia (Julia Crampsie our Casting Director) never forgets a performance and she puts them in her memory bank for another time.
DTC shade?

Does Whitney not have a bed? WHY would she shag Woody in Mick and Linda's bed ffs
He said absolutely nothing to excuse axing R&R the way he did. So Stacey works because she's had rests between big stories? So has Ronnie? And Roxy barely got any big stories. Urgh. He's absolutely full of ****. **** knows what the show is going to look like come Christmas
