Harry Potter is a little more universal than Twilight. Adults like Potter just as much as children.

It was utter crap, but did have a few highlights to it.
Paranormal Activity 3 - 7.8/10 Found it better then the first two still a few things that they need to explain in the series though, like if Julie actually died at the end of the third one where she fell down the stairs because Micah mentions her coming over in the first one and what happened when Lois took the girls up the stairs at the end... my guess is that she probably did a some ritual to make them forget what happened

I've watched that film its discusting at times
Attack The Block and it was bloody fantastic. I loved the aesthetic of London presented in it. I've never actually been to London but it's set in these parts of it that look almost futurist dystopian. Just endless apartment blocks, security gates and tube lighting. Proper Nineteen Eighty Four.
Anyway everything about it was just great, I thought. Good action, performances, sharp dialogue - the pallid little stoner kid is great - etc etc. Looking foward to watching it again.
Also watched the Nic Cage Bad Lieutenant which I also can't say a bad word about. I've got a crazy man crush on Cage anyway and this is another of his great performances. And he's nothing like the drunk he played in Leaving Las Vegas. In this one he's much more cocksure and slovenly. Far more of a wild caricature than the affected wino he played in Leaving Las Vegas. Eva Mendes looks hot in it too. She's no Salma Hayek but whatever.
Next up is Rocky V which surprised the balls off me by being much, much better than I remember it. He's son's still a riddiculous prick - that ear piercing is horrid - and there is no big boxing showdown so I can see why people loath it but I love Balboa's changing relationship with Tommy Gun and the street fight at the end is awesome. Rocky busts out a drop toe hold and suplex for christ sake.
Next up is the Alien films on Blu Ray.

I'm a huge Leo fan and actually went to see this as he was in it... but DDL just blew me away to be honest... he does the same in every film he's in.
I found it very drawn out. The story of it's production is enthralling though. Martin Scorsese and Harvey Weinstein clashed over the length of it many times, apparently.
Also wasn't it the one where Daniel Day Lewis refused to take a bath in keeping with his method acting? He hummed that film up good and proper I think.

friends with benefits (timberlake) vs no strings attached. (kutcher)
which supposedly had similar plots. I watched them back to back. Friends with benefits >>>>>>>>>>>>>>No strings attached. No strings attached sucked MAJOR ass, as amaericans say. GOD kutcher is such a dull actor. Why the hell did portman get involved in this movie. now she has to add this pile of poopoo on her resume. She has to live with the fact that she made this movie for the rest of her life. I didn't even finish it, couldn't be arsed. I MAY force myself to finish no strings sometime before the new millenium..if the world doesn't end

McBain is awesome. I know I say that about much of everything but McBain fills me with confidence and makes me a happy man. God bless Movies4Men.
Includes the line "you're ****ing with the wrong kind of president!" and a scene where Christopher Walken - in an aeroplane cockpit in the sky - shoots another man in another airoplane cockpit about five yards away. Not only is this amazing marksmanship but no glass breaks and no air gets in to either plane.

I saw The Iron Lady. It was very good actually, and though I abhor Thatcher, it did humanise her somewhat during the scenes where her dementia really kicked in.
Meryl Streep was just flawless too. There wasn't a better woman for the job. She was absolutely excellent as Thatcher, and it was an amazing performance on her part.
I'd give it 8/10.

Super 8. Was rather weird and the ending I found very strange but overall I liked it. Elle Fanning is a great little actress, just like her sister.

Goal III - I'm not really sure what happened with this film, it had absolutely nothing to do with the first two films and all the characters and stories from them were either got rid of or drastically reduced, and I don't have a clue why they took those 4 guys who worked in the garage in Goal 1 and made them main characters and half the film :joker:
As a film on its own it's half-decent although still doesn't make much sense - 4/10

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011 version (American basically :p))
I haven't seen the Swedish version yet, but I intend to. There were certain elements of the book's plot altered for visual effect, I feel.
For example, in the book Harriet has been living in Australia for years now and has a large business over there - and therefore when Mikael finds her she takes over Henrik/Martin's role in Millenium. However, in the film, she is shown to have been in London the whole time masquerading as Anita... Anita in the book knew Harriet existed, and phoned her in Australia to let her know that Martin had died.
Also, the chase between Lisbeth and Martin was quite different to the book - the book describes him as almost intentionally driving into the path of an oil tanker. The film seems to show it was an accident. And there was never any mention in the book of Lisbeth watching him die, or going to shoot him :/
Oh and there was no relationship between Mikael and Cecilia :conf2: (in the film; there was in the book).
Small things like that aside, the atmosphere and the tension was pitch perfect, Rooney Mara was excellent, Daniel Craig was great, and the supporting cast were surprising (like Lisbeth's hacker friends - one of them's on BBC3 comedies all the time as really unknown roles, I was so shocked to see him :laugh2:). And the plot's as gripping as the book. I think you'd enjoy it a lot more if you haven't read it. 8/10

Well I was only aware of this one, but I know Michael Connely has written several books so maybe another is based around the Lincoln Lawyer character.....it might not be a book adaption at all though, just a screenwritten TV series with a pilot movie?
