I guess that's something good to say about it though - it really is a love/hate film. I think the nihilist elements in some of my friends (though now thankfully gone) thrived from the film, too.

And I can see where it's coming from - the lack of masculinity in society today. But I'm not really bothered.

Shutter Island. Total misfire here, with Scorsese trying for a Hitchcockian type thriller with elements of The Shining mixed in for good measure, but ultimately this ends up feeling like a bad Shyamalan film, which believes that it's far more important than it really is. Silly effort.

Shaun

Doubt. Didn't even twig the ending.

I had a lot of theories whilst watching it (i'll list in a spoiler) and didn't even think about the religious aspect of the title.

for a minute I thought the sister was a reformed paedophile (when she broke down about having committed a mortal sin herself) and had a personal vendetta against his crime. I also considered the possibility that he was actually innocent and she was just wrong...but that would be a bit of an anticlimax, lmao.

Shutter Island. Exceeded my expectations and isn't the film I thought it would be; the trailers for it are totally misleading. The twist's been done before, but I didn't see it coming until just before it was revealed; good film!

Tell No One - Classy French thriller based on the novel by Harlan Coben - an author that I've always loved - and it's no surprise to me that this was a tightly woven, character driven little mystery that had me engrossed from beginning to end.

Clash of the Titans (in 3D) - it's pretty much what you'd expect, and I really didn't see the point of it bein in 3D (except, of course, for the money). I kept taking my glasses off throughout the film and it looked no different most of the time. Lazy post production.

Sam Worthington's British accent was comical at times. He'd switch from English to Australian with a bit of South African thrown in there.

It was doing some good business at my local cinema though. They were queing outside the screen for the next screening as we were leaving - obviously helped by the fact it's Good Friday.

~I watched PS I love you just to see how much they butchered the Irish accent. Didn't get a chance to watch that part cuz I got bored after 20 mins. Butler's accent was all over the place though.

The Irish accent ALWAYS gets butchered in films,I hope people don't think we all sound like that.

Great film.

Good to see the old cast back, although its not as good as the first (due to not really being about modding cars).. but it has a good story line, and Vin is a beast in it just throws people around like they are paper..

The Taking of Pelham 123.
Passable enough thriller which amazingly enough benefits from Tony Scott's frenetic style of filmmaking, where a rather run-of-the-mill storyline with barely any action scenes of note is brought to life with his fast editing style, creating much more energy and tension, rather than the opposite, which is usually the case with his flicks because they are quite often overloaded with set pieces and thereby suffer from overkill. And what is it about Denzel Washington that makes him so watchable, even in mediocre stuff like this?

American Psycho

I was curious to see how this flick has aged as I hadn't watched it since my first time which is almost 10 years ago now and, to be fair, it's still an interesting and unnerving experience, with Bale giving a quite exceptional performance. These are the kinda roles that he's built for really..... icy cool and arrogant.
