4/10 - First half of the movie was really slow and didn't seem to be going anywhere but it picked up the last hour or so and gradually improved and the ending was done well but apart from that there could have been major improvements to the story and the cast didn't really do it many favors really either, Taylor Kitsch is a great Actor but he wasn't suited to the role at all and Lynn Collins is a terrible Actress ( haven't really seen her in anything else before this and i'm not surprised )i can see why it flopped pretty badly, it could have been a much better film then it was with the right Casting and a better Story, you'll probably enjoy it more if you just watch the last hour because more then likely you will end up switching it off or falling asleep in the first half

I won't say I told you so :idc:

John Carter - I don't think it was as bad as some of the reviews I had read, but it wasn't great either, I agree it was slow at the beginning and the princess droned on too much a few times but I liked the ending.

Glengarry Glen Ross - 9/10 - Brilliant film :worship: great cast and always really like movies like this, where it's all quite concentrated, just focusing on a few characters and mostly just being made up of amazing dialogue

One Day - 6.8/10

Really interesting concept. Was just shaping up to be a pretty decent film for the first 90 minutes or so that you'd enjoyed but wouldn't really care for, but the last half hour really paid off. The scene right at the end of him and his daughter was brilliant, probably one of my favourite scenes ever.

What Women Want - 4/10

Had the potential to be a lot funnier than it was. Have seen bits and pieces of it before but this was the first time I'd actually sat and watched it properly. Good old Mel was great as always though

The Interrupters
http://i.imgur.com/ig6SmWE.jpg
It's a documentary, I'm pretty sure it was about Chicago, and it focused on a group of people who try and stop violence by interrupting arguments, although it's not in a confrontational type of way. They work on their own blocks and know the gangmembers and such, so if trouble happens, these people try and get the parties involved to end it peacefully 6/10

Savages - 3/10

Tim Riggins, Emile Hirsch, John Travolta, Benicio Del Toro, high ranking GIP Blake Lively.. Didn't think it could possibly be bad but how wrong I was. The first 45 minutes were actually really good and I'd probably have given it about a 9/10 at that stage, but then it all just starts going downhill once Blake Lively is kidnapped. The ending is absolutely terrible aswell, possibly the worst ending to a film I have ever seen. Was just really stupid. Don't understand Emile Hirsch having such a small role either, was pretty much non existant.

Locke.

John Carter - 3/10

Taylor Kitsch was pretty good in it but it is just really boring and uninteresting, the only good scenes were when he first arrives on Mars and meets those weird creatures, the first battle scene, and the final scene when he gets the other medallion. The final battle was a massive anticlimax aswell. Hard to believe it cost a quarter of a billion to make.

Hugo - 7/10

Really well made with a lot of likable characters, was expecting the great Jude Law to be in more then he was though, he only had a 2 minute scene and then he was gone.. Ben Kingsley and Sacha Baron Cohen were amazing in it and the young girl who was Hugo's friend was a really good Actress as well.

Chronicle - 6.5/10 - Was good seeing Vince from Friday Night Lights having a pretty big role, it was a bit far fetched mainly towards the end but the Story was okay although they never really explained how the UFO got down there or why they got the Powers

An indy movie, was pretty disappointed in it. I wasn't sure what it was going to be about (I try and avoid as much info about films before I see them), but from the name I thought it was going to be thrilling. But it was more amusing and quirky 5/10

Teen romance about the american ritual of prom. Good cast and script, the soundtrack was a bit of a let down, however there was a couple of songs from Those Dancing Days, so that made up for it 6/10

les miserable 2013 - 7/10 only cause of the performances

singing throughout the whole movie which is just silly made it hard work to watch. but the best proper songs were great extremely well acted and it looked great but far too much singing you lose the plot of what i it meant to be about. sad movie superb acting but i wish theyd of done it like a normal film with just the main songs sung.

This Is 40 - 9/10
Far funnier than the film it's supposed to be a sequel to and probably the first time I've properly laughed out load at the cinema. Quite long but it never gets boring. The performances from the Apatow kids are exceptional as well, but Leslie Mann and Melissa McCarthy steal every scene. Just hilarious.

A Good Day To Die Hard - 4/10
Not a terrible action film by any means, but give it the Die Hard name and it becomes a relatively massive pile of ****e. Probably one of the best hero films I've seen, don't really know why it didn't get the best reviews and why opinion was so plit, I suppose drags on and it's probably quite complicated to the casual viewer hasn't that heard of the Watchmen before but I really liked it..

I don't understand the lukewarm reviews either... admittedly the cast weren't really great actors (Malin Akerman and the Wilson guy had pretty much no chemistry, and Dr. Manhattan's actor was quite poor), but the special effects, story, pace and directing were pretty great.

Very good film, and have to put out the love to Canada for making that work out so well. ;)

This was more fun than Silver Linings Playbook (2) but not as engaging at SLP. Still loved it.

Should add Wreck-it Ralph. 8/10 on the IMDB scale for us. Kids loved it. Had a great message: don't lose the f'n race or you will die. The characters were pretty good but could have been better fleshed out in a sense. Could not go on more about the generation they were going for, it hit me perfectly, and who can't relate to anything Street Fighter 2 related? ;) This movie had me figuring out where to find the Sugar Rush game online 4 minutes after credits rolled, and I had the kids beating it within the day. Good fun, and John C. Reilly and Silverman rules, so there's that. :)

This was a surprise, it was moody, fast and then slow. The girls could teach the Hangover guys a thing or two about partying. A few of the scenes seemed to go for iconic imagery rather than realism, but I think that added to almost dreamlike quality of the movie 8/10

Before Sunrise - 9/10

So simple but so amazing. The whole film takes place over one night and is really just about two people walking around a City and getting to know one another, never thought a film like that would be so interesting.

Before Sunset - 8.5/10

Went into this with slightly higher expectation because it had the same IMDb rating as the first one but also a slightly higher Metascore. I don't think it was quite on par with the first but it was still a brilliant film and definitely one of the best sequels I've seen, and the ending was perfect. I don't know how either one of them didn't win any awards for best dialogue or script or whatever.

Probably unlikely to go down as a classic but I loved it. Amazing setting, amazing cast, interesting story, sublime score from M83 (especially the final track over the end credits ). Only criticism is there wasn't enough Morgan Freeman or The Kingslayer, and its disappointing Melissa Leo never appears in person. Andrea Riseborough was the standout for me though... :worship:

The Host - 2.5/10
Absolutely horrendous first half hour, almost felt like walking out and sneaking into the next GI Joe Retaliation. It picked up though and Diane Kruger pretty much carries the film, which is just as well as the cast is poor. Usually like Saoirse Ronan, she would have made a good Katniss Everdeen if Jennifer Lawrence had turned it down, but she made a poor choice starring in this tripe. But, then again what can you expect from the mind of Stephanie Meyer.

Roll on Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness and Man Of Steel... :amazed:

Michael Cimino's controversial 1980 release Heaven's Gate.

Whilst the film is undeniably flawed, it's bloated length and at times pretentious attitude signalled out as particular drawbacks, it more then makes up for it with it's wonderful cinematography and an aura and atmosphere surrounding it unlike any film I have ever seen. Not perfect by any means but an experience that every film buff should take in.

Aw, it was amaaaaaaaaazing! I had no idea the you know who was the baddie.

I thought s2 took a bit longer to get realky exciting but its getting there now!

When the baddie was exposed in '1', I admit to letting out a little gasp! I tried not to second guess it and I was truly surprised. So looking forward to watching 2. Can't imagine why I've left it this long!

And on a sidenote: I watched 'Hamet' this afternoon. It was the Mel Gibson version. Mel Gibson... the man who put the 'Ham' in 'Hamlet. I laughed out loud several times watching while all the "proper" actors avoided glancing at each other with amusement as Mel delivered the lines in a strangled fashion exhibiting the fact that he had no bloody idea what he was saying. It was unintentionally hilarious. 1/10

"Thirst". Interesting Korean take on the vampire. Innovative, creepy, gory, great story... I loved it. 9/10. Thanks to Zee who recommended it x

:D You're absolutely welcome! I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys vampire fiction, but I think it's also a very good love story and a good morality tale too!

This isn't a comedy, it's more of a drama with some black comedic moments. Jack Black is great in it, he's really reserved compared to his usual roles. At the start of the movie I wasn't sure where it was going and was waiting for something to happen, eventually I got used to the slow meandering pace and in the end I thoroughly enjoyed it 8/10

Fantastic performance from Denzel Washington, even though John Goodman steals any scenes he's in. The plane crash sequence was gripping and overall the acting and script were superb. I recommend. :D

Oblivion - 7/10. It was actually quite a good film! Some of the dialogue in it was a bit clichéd, and it did feel like a weird pastiche of Moon and the Matrix at times, but aside from that it was very good. I really liked it!

Lost Boys II - The Thirst. The further adventures of Edgar and Alan Frogg. Not the greatest film I've ever seen but it had its moments and was watchable. And of course it gets one point purely for having vampires in it. 6/10

Elite Squad - 9/10 - thought it was amazing, really good at giving you the cops perspective on all the problems and corruption in Brazil. Don't understand why it got a fair few poor reviews from people who thought it was glamourising police violence or whatever, wasn't the point of the film at all

BROKEN CITY - 7/10 - another good movie nice twists as well

HANSEL & GRETAL WITCH HUNTERS - 6/10 enjoyable fun dialogue sucked though but liked it

WELCOME TO THE PUNCH - 6/10 not bad more like a bbc movie though lots of twists

STAND UP GUYS - 8/10 Al pacino and christopher walken as too aging crooks , very enjoyable. shall we chew gum or kick some ass? well were all outta gum lol

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD 2/10 truely awful movie what was bruce willis thinking. its like a rip of of every bad movie there is.

Epic
http://i.imgur.com/qUr2BGa.jpg
This really isn't an epic movie, I was expecting a vast journey and a difficult quest, the locations in the film seemed right beside each other, and it was more of an action comedy. The pluses were the main character, she was pretty cool and Beyonce, she does the voice of the queen 6/10

The Great Gatsby
http://i.imgur.com/98ElhfK.jpg
The story is about a hundred years old, but it doesn't feel dated, I think that's one of Baz Luhrmann's talents, the cast is pretty stellar. And actually it's way more of an epic movie than Epic, although it does feel kinda soulless, I could really put my finger on it 7/10

I've watched these ones over the last 5-6 weeks.

The Descendants - 9/10

I don't remember ever really seeing a great George Clooney performance before, but he is brilliant in this. Probably one of my favourite films now.

Sideways - 8/10

The plot sounded a little boring but it was rated high on IMDb so I just decided to watch it, was really good. Reminded me of Swingers of a bit.

The 40 Year Old Virgin - 4/10

Enjoyable enough but nothing special really.

In Search of a Midnight Kiss - 8/10

Didn't really expect much from this but it was really good. I am going to have to place this on my list of great finds along with Keith, because noone else seems to know they exist.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist - 5/10

Was pretty good but could have been better. I preffered the first half of it to the second.

Home Alone 4 - 0/10

Why would they even release this... It has overtaken She's The Man as the worst film I have ever seen.

A Lot Like Love - 5/10

Another that is enjoyable enough but not really that great.

Not sure why it's called the hangover again, unlike the other two films in the series, they hardly drink in this one, I think they only had a swig or two from a bottle of beer. Anyway it all seemed a bit jaded and as if the actors were just going through the motions 5/10

The Great Gatsby - 2/10. I thought it was a very poor take on the novel. Having just read the book recently, I was quite optimistic about this version considering the cast, but while Leo was spectacular (when isn't he?), the rest were not. Not only that but other things were totally off, like the modern music being used throughout a movie set in the 20s?! It felt completely unnatural. The same goes for the CGI too, 9 times out of 10 it was painfully obvious that half of the scenes were fake, and it made the whole thing feel cheap. What was even worse, was that the movie seemed to play into only the love triangle aspect of the story rather than the dense social commentary rife within the source material. The whole thing just felt like a cobbled together, dumbed down version of the novel, which is sad considering it has so much potential.
