So everything was signed back to them anyway. Fi gave Max the paperwork to give to the owners to allow him to tell them as a way of getting back in people's good books.

Jay said he didn't want it back so, somehow, Max is getting away with using the land himself or even masquerading as Jay in paperwork.
But there's been no explanation as to what's going on anymore than how Max gave Jack the deeds to a club that was owned by him and Ronnie was suddenly owned by Phil and Sharon a month later when Mel returned.

But I suppose for the latter part, she doesn't know that Jay didn't want it back and that Max has just kept it for himself? He definitely SOLD one of Ian's businesses back to him, he didn't just hand it over. But... Fi made the Carters buy back the pub, so it doesn't seem like she was just gifting them back.

Maybe she thinks Max did sell them all back and used the money for Abi and he's not told her that he's actually kept one (plus presumably a fair bit of cash...)

Gently broaching the matter of her memory loss, Scott suggested to Barbara that she should return to EastEnders one last time and they agreed it was a good idea to kill off her character Peggy Mitchell.

“Barbara contacted the Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins to make the suggestion and, at first, he said, ‘I can’t kill an iconic character’.

“So I went to see him and, without giving the full situation, confided that she was really struggling to learn lines and wouldn’t ever be coming back again after this.

“I asked that she have an autocue on set, just as a safety net. But in the end, she just used it to refresh her memory between takes. If you saw the Peggy death scenes, you could see she wasn’t reading it.

“Ironically, I think it’s some of the best work she ever did. I was incredibly proud of her.”
