The thing that annoys me about the stuart storyline is that all the major drama happened off screen over 30 years ago. Why couldn't they just have Stuart lock Tina in the boot on screen? Would be a lot more gripping and people would care more about the story

It's like EE have completely forgotten how to tell a compelling storyline the last 6 years.

Referring to incidents in a character's past is good, but the story should happen on screen. Isn't one of the rules of TV; show don't tell. :laugh:

They could've had Mick catch up with a small group of old mates. One night in the Vic they drink a lot, reminiscing a bit about when they played Torturer as kids and then later in the night Tina's locked in the boot and attacked. Then we have the story slowly unfolding where Stuart's mental state is called into question and Mick finds pictures of the young girls on his phone, bringing in the Pedo hunter plot and slowly revealing his and Mick's past with abuse.

A way to use the past and also have it provide drama in the present to make that past at all relevant to the viewers. We want and care about what happened off screen because of what's happening on screen.

Rather than Stuart lying about stuff we don't even know about it and getting away with it every episode.

Look at me. I feel like I'm in Rob's screenwriting class. :hehe:

EastEnders is lining up a new gang story as Keanu Taylor and Dennis Rickman are terrorised next week.

Keanu's brother Keegan recently found himself on the receiving end of a gang's revenge attack – which ultimately saw his friend Shakil Kazemi lose his life.

With this in mind, Keanu will start to fear for Sharon's young son as he finds himself embroiled in the dark world of an older crowd.

The story kicks off when a bored Dennis buys a phone from a gang of older boys in McKlunky's and later agrees to do them a favour in return for cash – desperately wanting to impress them.

...you’re probably right actually, Redway...that they’re not really trying anymore so much..there are not enough pizza boy moments, not enough light to balance the dark of storylines..just those general funny interactions and feuds with neighbours and characters etc that soaps have always had that go on for years, you know...yeah there are those moments with some families and some characters and when those moments happen, they’re pretty glorious...like old time Eastenders..?...but just not enough I don’t think to find that balance...probably because of the competition with other soaps to do dramatic storylines first or to out-do...I don’t think it’s dead yet but it’s probably pretty poorly though...not the best of health it’s having...

Eastenders has been **** for like 3? years now, Kate Oates hopefully can save the show if not it's gonna be axed by 2020. Shame the show used to be amazing but now it's **** which is why the likes of Janine won't return because they know it's ****, Barbera Windsor only got her character killed off because she knew it was **** so doesn't want to ever be tempted to return because the script writing is awful!

EastEnders has cast Faye Daveney in the role of Stuart Highway's daughter, Zara.

Zara's first scenes will air tonight (September 10) when she arrives in Walford in the aftermath of Stuart's shock shooting.

With Stuart's life still hanging in the balance, his brother Halfway will be forced to break the news to Zara, who rushes to be at her father's bedside.

As Zara demands answers from Halfway, tensions quickly rise and she ends up slapping her uncle.

I've been catching up as all of the episodes I've missed are piling up.

We got from Mel being annoyed with Jack that he's treating her too casually, to Jack being annoyed with Mel because she was scared off by the prospect of a longterm relationship and him agreeing to take things slow. Then the following week he's proposing marriage. :skull:

Also, Halfway goes to see Stuart a few episodes before the shooting to tell him to stop with all the weird stuff like the flowers/blasting that song etc and him telling the Carter's he's warned him off, then the episode of the shooting they act like they didn't know he went to see Stuart and are kicking off at him? :think:
